| [2]אֵין־קָדֹושׁ כַּיהוָה כִּי אֵין בִּלְתֶּךָ וְאֵין צוּר כֵּאלֹהֵינוּ׃ |
[2]There is none holyH6918 as the LORDH3068: for there is none besideH1115 thee: neither is there any rockH6697 like our GodH430. |
| [3]אַל־תַּרְבּוּ תְדַבְּרוּ גְּבֹהָה גְבֹהָה יֵצֵא עָתָק מִפִּיכֶם כִּי אֵל דֵּעֹות יְהוָה וְלֹא [Q: וְלֹו] נִתְכְּנוּ עֲלִלֹות׃ |
[3]TalkH1696[H8762] no moreH7235[H8686] so exceedingH1364 proudlyH1364; let not arrogancyH6277 comeH3318[H8799] out of your mouthH6310: for the LORDH3068 is a GodH410 of knowledgeH1844, and by him actionsH5949 are weighedH8505.[H8738] |
| [4]קֶשֶׁת גִּבֹּרִים חַתִּים וְנִכְשָׁלִים אָזְרוּ חָיִל׃ |
[4]The bowsH7198 of the mighty menH1368 are brokenH2844, and they that stumbledH3782[H8737] are girdedH247[H8804] with strengthH2428. |
| [5]שְׂבֵעִים בַּלֶּחֶם נִשְׂכָּרוּ וּרְעֵבִים חָדֵלּוּ עַד־עֲקָרָה יָלְדָה שִׁבְעָה וְרַבַּת בָּנִים אֻמְלָלָה׃ |
[5]They that were fullH7649 have hired outH7936[H8738] themselves for breadH3899; and they that were hungryH7457 ceasedH2308[H8804]: so that the barrenH6135 hath bornH3205[H8804] sevenH7651; and she that hath manyH7227 childrenH1121 is waxed feebleH535.[H8797] |
| [6]יְהוָה מֵמִית וּמְחַיֶּה מֹורִיד שְׁאֹול וַיָּעַל׃ |
[6]The LORDH3068 killethH4191[H8688], and maketh aliveH2421[H8764]: he bringeth downH3381[H8688] to the graveH7585, and bringeth upH5927.[H8686] |
| [7]יְהוָה מֹורִישׁ וּמַעֲשִׁיר מַשְׁפִּיל אַף־מְרֹוםֵם׃ |
[7]The LORDH3068 maketh poorH3423[H8688], and maketh richH6238[H8688]: he bringeth lowH8213[H8688], andH637 lifteth upH7311.[H8789] |
| [8]מֵקִים מֵעָפָר דָּל מֵאַשְׁפֹּת יָרִים אֶבְיֹון לְהֹושִׁיב עִם־נְדִיבִים וְכִסֵּא כָבֹוד יַנְחִלֵם כִּי לַיהוָה מְצֻקֵי אֶרֶץ וַיָּשֶׁת עֲלֵיהֶם תֵּבֵל׃ |
[8]He raiseth upH6965[H8688] the poorH1800 out of the dustH6083, and lifteth upH7311[H8686] the beggarH34 from the dunghillH830, to setH3427[H8687] them among princesH5081, and to make them inheritH5157[H8686] the throneH3678 of gloryH3519: for the pillarsH4690 of the earthH776 are the LORD'SH3068, and he hath setH7896[H8799] the world upon themH8398. |
| [9]רַגְלֵי חֲסִידֹו [Q: חֲסִידָיו] יִשְׁמֹר וּרְשָׁעִים בַּחֹשֶׁךְ יִדָּמּוּ כִּי־לֹא בְכֹחַ יִגְבַּר־אִישׁ׃ |
[9]He will keepH8104[H8799] the feetH7272 of his saintsH2623, and the wickedH7563 shall be silentH1826[H8735] in darknessH2822; for by strengthH3581 shall no manH376 prevailH1396.[H8799] |
| [10]יְהוָה יֵחַתּוּ מְרִיבֹו עָלֹו [Q: מְרִיבָיו עָלָיו] בַּשָּׁמַיִם יַרְעֵם יְהוָה יָדִין אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ וְיִתֶּן־עֹז לְמַלְכֹּו וְיָרֵם קֶרֶן מְשִׁיחֹו׃ |
[10]The adversariesH7378[H8688] of the LORDH3068 shall be broken to piecesH2865[H8735]; out of heavenH8064 shall he thunderH7481[H8686] upon them: the LORDH3068 shall judgeH1777[H8799] the endsH657 of the earthH776; and he shall giveH5414[H8799] strengthH5797 unto his kingH4428, and exaltH7311[H8686] the hornH7161 of his anointedH4899. |
| [11]וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶלְקָנָה הָרָמָתָה עַל־בֵּיתֹו וְהַנַּעַר הָיָה מְשָׁרֵת אֶת־יְהוָה אֶת־פְּנֵי עֵלִי הַכֹּהֵן׃ |
[11]And ElkanahH511 wentH3212[H8799] to RamahH7414 to his houseH1004. And the childH5288 didH1961[H8804] ministerH8334[H8764] unto the LORDH3068 beforeH6440 EliH5941 the priestH3548. |
| [12]וּבְנֵי עֵלִי בְּנֵי בְלִיָּעַל לֹא יָדְעוּ אֶת־יְהוָה׃ |
[12]Now the sonsH1121 of EliH5941 were sonsH1121 of BelialH1100; they knewH3045[H8804] not the LORDH3068. |
| [13]וּמִשְׁפַּט הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶת־הָעָם כָּל־אִישׁ זֹבֵחַ זֶבַח וּבָא נַעַר הַכֹּהֵן כְּבַשֵּׁל הַבָּשָׂר וְהַמַּזְלֵג שְׁלֹשׁ־הַשִּׁנַּיִם בְּיָדֹו׃ |
[13]And the priests'H3548 customH4941 with the peopleH5971 was, that, when any manH376 offeredH2076[H8802] sacrificeH2077, the priest'sH3548 servantH5288 cameH935[H8804], while the fleshH1320 was in seethingH1310[H8763], with a fleshhookH4207 of threeH7969 teethH8127 in his handH3027; |
| [14]וְהִכָּה בַכִּיֹּור אֹו בַדּוּד אֹו בַקַּלַּחַת אֹו בַפָּרוּר כֹּל אֲשֶׁר יַעֲלֶה הַמַּזְלֵג יִקַּח הַכֹּהֵן בֹּו כָּכָה יַעֲשׂוּ לְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַבָּאִים שָׁם בְּשִׁלֹה׃ |
[14]And he struckH5221[H8689] it into the panH3595, or kettleH1731, or caldronH7037, or potH6517; all that the fleshhookH4207 brought upH5927[H8686] the priestH3548 tookH3947[H8799] for himself. So they didH6213[H8799] in ShilohH7887 unto all the IsraelitesH3478 that cameH935 thitherH8802. |
| [15]גַּם בְּטֶרֶם יַקְטִרוּן אֶת־הַחֵלֶב וּבָא נַעַר הַכֹּהֵן וְאָמַר לָאִישׁ הַזֹּבֵחַ תְּנָה בָשָׂר לִצְלֹות לַכֹּהֵן וְלֹא־יִקַּח מִמְּךָ בָּשָׂר מְבֻשָּׁל כִּי אִם־חָי׃ |
[15]Also before they burntH6999[H8686] the fatH2459, the priest'sH3548 servantH5288 cameH935[H8804], and saidH559[H8804] to the manH376 that sacrificedH2076[H8802], GiveH5414[H8798] fleshH1320 to roastH6740[H8800] for the priestH3548; for he will not haveH3947[H8799] soddenH1310[H8794] fleshH1320 of thee, but rawH2416. |
| [16]וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו הָאִישׁ קַטֵּר יַקְטִירוּן כַּיֹּום הַחֵלֶב וְקַח־לְךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר תְּאַוֶּה נַפְשֶׁךָ וְאָמַר לֹו [Q: לֹא] כִּי עַתָּה תִתֵּן וְאִם־לֹא לָקַחְתִּי בְחָזְקָה׃ |
[16]And if any manH376 saidH559[H8799] unto him, Let them not failH6999[H8686] to burnH6999[H8763] the fatH2459 presentlyH3117, and then takeH3947[H8798] as much as thy soulH5315 desirethH183[H8762]; then he would answerH559[H8804] him, Nay; but thou shalt giveH5414[H8799] it me now: and if not, I will takeH3947[H8804] it by forceH2394. |
| [17]וַתְּהִי חַטַּאת הַנְּעָרִים גְּדֹולָה מְאֹד אֶת־פְּנֵי יְהוָה כִּי נִאֲצוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים אֵת מִנְחַת יְהוָה׃ |
[17]Wherefore the sinH2403 of the young menH5288 was veryH3966 greatH1419 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: for menH582 abhorredH5006[H8765] the offeringH4503 of the LORDH3068. |
| [18]וּשְׁמוּאֵל מְשָׁרֵת אֶת־פְּנֵי יְהוָה נַעַר חָגוּר אֵפֹוד בָּד׃ |
[18]But SamuelH8050 ministeredH8334[H8764] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, being a childH5288, girdedH2296[H8803] with a linenH906 ephodH646. |
| [19]וּמְעִיל קָטֹן תַּעֲשֶׂה־לֹּו אִמֹּו וְהַעַלְתָה לֹו מִיָּמִים יָמִימָה בַּעֲלֹותָהּ אֶת־אִישָׁהּ לִזְבֹּחַ אֶת־זֶבַח הַיָּמִים׃ |
[19]Moreover his motherH517 madeH6213[H8799] him a littleH6996 coatH4598, and broughtH5927[H8689] it to him from yearH3117 to yearH3117, when she came upH5927[H8800] with her husbandH376 to offerH2076[H8800] the yearlyH3117 sacrificeH2077. |
| [20]וּבֵרַךְ עֵלִי אֶת־אֶלְקָנָה וְאֶת־אִשְׁתֹּו וְאָמַר יָשֵׂם יְהוָה לְךָ זֶרַע מִן־הָאִשָּׁה הַזֹּאת תַּחַת הַשְּׁאֵלָה אֲשֶׁר שָׁאַל לַיהוָה וְהָלְכוּ לִמְקֹמֹו׃ |
[20]And EliH5941 blessedH1288[H8765] ElkanahH511 and his wifeH802, and saidH559[H8804], The LORDH3068 giveH7760[H8799] thee seedH2233 of this womanH802 for the loanH7596 which is lentH7592[H8804] to the LORDH3068. And they wentH1980[H8804] unto their own homeH4725. |
| [21]כִּי־פָקַד יְהוָה אֶת־חַנָּה וַתַּהַר וַתֵּלֶד שְׁלֹשָׁה־בָנִים וּשְׁתֵּי בָנֹות וַיִּגְדַּל הַנַּעַר שְׁמוּאֵל עִם־יְהוָה׃ |
[21]AndH3588 the LORDH3068 visitedH6485[H8804] HannahH2584, so that she conceivedH2029[H8799], and bareH3205[H8799] threeH7969 sonsH1121 and twoH8147 daughtersH1323. And the childH5288 SamuelH8050 grewH1431[H8799] beforeH5973 the LORDH3068. |
| [22]וְעֵלִי זָקֵן מְאֹד וְשָׁמַע אֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשׂוּן בָּנָיו לְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁכְּבוּן אֶת־הַנָּשִׁים הַצֹּבְאֹות פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מֹועֵד׃ |
[22]Now EliH5941 was veryH3966 oldH2204[H8804], and heardH8085[H8804] all that his sonsH1121 didH6213[H8799] unto all IsraelH3478; and how they layH7901[H8799] with the womenH802 that assembledH6633[H8802] at the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150. |
| [23]וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם לָמָּה תַעֲשׂוּן כַּדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁמֵעַ אֶת־דִּבְרֵיכֶם רָעִים מֵאֵת כָּל־הָעָם אֵלֶּה׃ |
[23]And he saidH559[H8799] unto them, Why doH6213[H8799] ye such thingsH1697? for I hearH8085[H8802] of your evilH7451 dealingsH1697 by all this peopleH5971. |
| [24]אַל בָּנָי כִּי לֹוא־טֹובָה הַשְּׁמֻעָה אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי שֹׁמֵעַ מַעֲבִרִים עַם־יְהוָה׃ |
[24]Nay, my sonsH1121; for it is no goodH2896 reportH8052 that I hearH8085[H8802]: ye make the LORD'SH3068 peopleH5971 to transgressH5674.[H8688] |
| [25]אִם־יֶחֱטָא אִישׁ לְאִישׁ וּפִלְלֹו אֱלֹהִים וְאִם לַיהוָה יֶחֱטָא־אִישׁ מִי יִתְפַּלֶּל־לֹו וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּ לְקֹול אֲבִיהֶם כִּי־חָפֵץ יְהוָה לַהֲמִיתָם׃ |
[25]If one manH376 sinH2398[H8799] against anotherH376, the judgeH430 shall judgeH6419[H8765] him: but if a manH376 sinH2398[H8799] against the LORDH3068, who shall intreatH6419[H8691] for him? Notwithstanding they hearkenedH8085[H8799] not unto the voiceH6963 of their fatherH1, because the LORDH3068 wouldH2654[H8804] slayH4191 themH8687. |
| [26]וְהַנַּעַר שְׁמוּאֵל הֹלֵךְ וְגָדֵל וָטֹוב גַּם עִם־יְהוָה וְגַם עִם־אֲנָשִׁים׃ |
[26]And the childH5288 SamuelH8050 grewH1432 onH1980[H8802], and was in favourH2896 both with the LORDH3068, and also with menH582. |
| [27]וַיָּבֹא אִישׁ־אֱלֹהִים אֶל־עֵלִי וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה הֲנִגְלֹה נִגְלֵיתִי אֶל־בֵּית אָבִיךָ בִּהְיֹותָם בְּמִצְרַיִם לְבֵית פַּרְעֹה׃ |
[27]And there cameH935[H8799] a manH376 of GodH430 unto EliH5941, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, Did I plainlyH1540[H8736] appearH1540[H8738] unto the houseH1004 of thy fatherH1, when they were in EgyptH4714 in Pharaoh'sH6547 houseH1004? |
| [28]וּבָחֹר אֹתֹו מִכָּל־שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לִי לְכֹהֵן לַעֲלֹות עַל־מִזְבְּחִי לְהַקְטִיר קְטֹרֶת לָשֵׂאת אֵפֹוד לְפָנָי וָאֶתְּנָה לְבֵית אָבִיךָ אֶת־כָּל־אִשֵּׁי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |
[28]And did I chooseH977[H8800] him out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 to be my priestH3548, to offerH5927[H8800] upon mine altarH4196, to burnH6999[H8687] incenseH7004, to wearH5375[H8800] an ephodH646 beforeH6440 me? and did I giveH5414[H8799] unto the houseH1004 of thy fatherH1 all the offerings made by fireH801 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478? |
| [29]לָמָּה תִבְעֲטוּ בְּזִבְחִי וּבְמִנְחָתִי אֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִי מָעֹון וַתְּכַבֵּד אֶת־בָּנֶיךָ מִמֶּנִּי לְהַבְרִיאֲכֶם מֵרֵאשִׁית כָּל־מִנְחַת יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעַמִּי׃ |
[29]Wherefore kickH1163[H8799] ye at my sacrificeH2077 and at mine offeringH4503, which I have commandedH6680[H8765] in my habitationH4583; and honourestH3513[H8762] thy sonsH1121 above me, to make yourselves fatH1254[H8687] with the chiefestH7225 of all the offeringsH4503 of IsraelH3478 my peopleH5971? |
| [30]לָכֵן נְאֻם־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָמֹור אָמַרְתִּי בֵּיתְךָ וּבֵית אָבִיךָ יִתְהַלְּכוּ לְפָנַי עַד־עֹולָם וְעַתָּה נְאֻם־יְהוָה חָלִילָה לִּי כִּי־מְכַבְּדַי אֲכַבֵּד וּבֹזַי יֵקָלּוּ׃ |
[30]Wherefore the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 saithH5002[H8803], I saidH559[H8804] indeedH559[H8800] that thy houseH1004, and the houseH1004 of thy fatherH1, should walkH1980[H8691] beforeH6440 me forH5704 everH5769: but now the LORDH3068 saithH5002[H8803], Be it far from meH2486; for them that honourH3513[H8764] me I will honourH3513[H8762], and they that despiseH959[H8802] me shall be lightly esteemedH7043.[H8799] |
| [31]הִנֵּה יָמִים בָּאִים וְגָדַעְתִּי אֶת־זְרֹעֲךָ וְאֶת־זְרֹעַ בֵּית אָבִיךָ מִהְיֹות זָקֵן בְּבֵיתֶךָ׃ |
[31]Behold, the daysH3117 comeH935[H8802], that I will cut offH1438[H8804] thine armH2220, and the armH2220 of thy father'sH1 houseH1004, that there shall not be an old manH2205 in thine houseH1004. |
| [32]וְהִבַּטְתָּ צַר מָעֹון בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יֵיטִיב אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל וְלֹא־יִהְיֶה זָקֵן בְּבֵיתְךָ כָּל־הַיָּמִים׃ |
[32]And thou shalt seeH5027[H8689] an enemyH6862 in my habitationH4583, in all the wealth which God shall giveH3190[H8686] IsraelH3478: and there shall not be an old manH2205 in thine houseH1004 for everH3117. |
| [33]וְאִישׁ לֹא־אַכְרִית לְךָ מֵעִם מִזְבְּחִי לְכַלֹּות אֶת־עֵינֶיךָ וְלַאֲדִיב אֶת־נַפְשֶׁךָ וְכָל־מַרְבִּית בֵּיתְךָ יָמוּתוּ אֲנָשִׁים׃ |
[33]And the manH376 of thine, whom I shall not cut offH3772[H8686] from mine altarH4196, shall be to consumeH3615[H8763] thine eyesH5869, and to grieveH109 thine heartH5315: and all the increaseH4768 of thine houseH1004 shall dieH4191[H8799] in the flower of their ageH582. |
| [34]וְזֶה־לְּךָ הָאֹות אֲשֶׁר יָבֹא אֶל־שְׁנֵי בָנֶיךָ אֶל־חָפְנִי וּפִינְחָס בְּיֹום אֶחָד יָמוּתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם׃ |
[34]And this shall be a signH226 unto thee, that shall comeH935[H8799] upon thy twoH8147 sonsH1121, on HophniH2652 and PhinehasH6372; in oneH259 dayH3117 they shall dieH4191[H8799] both of themH8147. |
| [35]וַהֲקִימֹתִי לִי כֹּהֵן נֶאֱמָן כַּאֲשֶׁר בִּלְבָבִי וּבְנַפְשִׁי יַעֲשֶׂה וּבָנִיתִי לֹו בַּיִת נֶאֱמָן וְהִתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי־מְשִׁיחִי כָּל־הַיָּמִים׃ |
[35]And I will raise me upH6965[H8689] a faithfulH539[H8737] priestH3548, that shall doH6213[H8799] according to that which is in mine heartH3824 and in my mindH5315: and I will buildH1129[H8804] him a sureH539[H8737] houseH1004; and he shall walkH1980[H8694] beforeH6440 mine anointedH4899 for everH3117. |
| [36]וְהָיָה כָּל־הַנֹּותָר בְּבֵיתְךָ יָבֹוא לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לֹו לַאֲגֹורַת כֶּסֶף וְכִכַּר־לָחֶם וְאָמַר סְפָחֵנִי נָא אֶל־אַחַת הַכְּהֻנֹּות לֶאֱכֹל פַּת־לָחֶם׃ |
[36]And it shall come to pass, that every one that is leftH3498[H8737] in thine houseH1004 shall comeH935[H8799] and crouchH7812[H8692] to him for a pieceH95 of silverH3701 and a morselH3603 of breadH3899, and shall sayH559[H8804], PutH5596[H8798] me, I pray thee, into oneH259 of the priests' officesH3550, that I may eatH398[H8800] a pieceH6595 of breadH3899. |
