[1]And Dauid sayd in his heart, I shall perishe one day by the hand of Saul: therefore is there nothing better for me, then to flee and saue my self in the land of the Philistines, and Saul shall ceasse and seeke me no more in all the coastes of Israel, and so shall I escape out of his hand [1]And DavidH1732 saidH559[H8799] in his heartH3820, I shall now perishH5595[H8735] oneH259 dayH3117 by the handH3027 of SaulH7586: there is nothing betterH2896 for me than thatH3588 I should speedilyH4422[H8736] escapeH4422[H8735] into the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430; and SaulH7586 shall despairH2976[H8738] of me, to seekH1245[H8763] me any more in any coastH1366 of IsraelH3478: so shall I escapeH4422[H8738] out of his handH3027.
[2]And Dauid arose, and he and the sixe hundred men that were with him, went vnto Achis the sonne of Maoch, king of Gath [2]And DavidH1732 aroseH6965[H8799], and he passed overH5674[H8799] with the sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376 that were with him unto AchishH397, the sonH1121 of MaochH4582, kingH4428 of GathH1661.
[3]And Dauid dwelt with Achis at Gath, both he and his men, euery man with his housholde, and Dauid with his two wiues, Ahinoam the Iezrahelite, and Abigail Nabals wyfe the Carmelite [3]And DavidH1732 dweltH3427[H8799] with AchishH397 at GathH1661, he and his menH582, every manH376 with his householdH1004, even DavidH1732 with his twoH8147 wivesH802, AhinoamH293 the JezreelitessH3159, and AbigailH26 the CarmelitessH3762, Nabal'sH5037 wifeH802.
[4]And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled to Gath, and he sought no more for him [4]And it was toldH5046[H8714] SaulH7586 that DavidH1732 was fledH1272[H8804] to GathH1661: and he soughtH1245[H8763] no more againH3254[H8804][H8675][H3254] for himH8686.
[5]And Dauid sayde vnto Achis: If I haue now founde grace in thyne eyes, let them geue me a place in some towne in ye countrey, that I may dwell there: For why should thy seruaunt dwell in the head citie of the kingdome with thee [5]And DavidH1732 saidH559[H8799] unto AchishH397, If I have now foundH4672[H8804] graceH2580 in thine eyesH5869, let them giveH5414[H8799] me a placeH4725 in someH259 townH5892 in the countryH7704, that I may dwellH3427[H8799] there: for why should thy servantH5650 dwellH3427[H8799] in the royalH4467 city with theeH5892?
[6]Then Achis gaue him Ziklag that same day, for which cause Ziklag pertayneth vnto the kinges of Iuda vnto this day [6]Then AchishH397 gaveH5414[H8799] him ZiklagH6860 that dayH3117: wherefore ZiklagH6860 pertaineth unto the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 unto this dayH3117.
[7]And the tyme that Dauid dwelt in the countrey of the Philistines, was foure monethes, and certaine dayes [7]And the timeH4557[H3117] that DavidH1732 dweltH3427[H8804] in the countryH7704 of the PhilistinesH6430 was a full yearH3117 and fourH702 monthsH2320.
[8]And Dauid and his men went vp and inuaded the Gesurites, the Gerzites, & the Amalekites: For those natios were from the beginnyng the inhabitauntes of the lande, as men go to Sur, vnto the land of Egypt [8]And DavidH1732 and his menH582 went upH5927[H8799], and invadedH6584[H8799] the GeshuritesH1651, and the GezritesH1511, and the AmalekitesH6003: for thoseH2007 nations were of oldH5769 the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of the landH776, as thou goestH935[H8800] to ShurH7793, even unto the landH776 of EgyptH4714.
[9]And Dauid smote the lande, & left neither man nor woman alyue, and droue away the sheepe, the oxen, the asses, camelles, and clothes, and returned, and came to Achis [9]And DavidH1732 smoteH5221[H8689] the landH776, and left neither manH376 nor womanH802 aliveH2421[H8762], and took awayH3947[H8804] the sheepH6629, and the oxenH1241, and the assesH2543, and the camelsH1581, and the apparelH899, and returnedH7725[H8799], and cameH935[H8799] to AchishH397.
[10]And Achis saide: Where haue ye ben a rouing this day? And Dauid aunswered: Against the south of Iuda, and against the south of the Ierameelites, and against the south of the Kenites [10]And AchishH397 saidH559[H8799], WhitherH408 have ye made a roadH6584[H8804] to dayH3117? And DavidH1732 saidH559[H8799], Against the southH5045 of JudahH3063, and against the southH5045 of the JerahmeelitesH3397, and against the southH5045 of the KenitesH7017.
[11]And Dauid saued neither man nor woman alyue to bring to Gath, saying: lest they should tell on vs, saying, so dyd Dauid, and so will be his maner all the whyle he dwelleth in the countrey of the Philistines [11]And DavidH1732 savedH2421[H8762] neither manH376 nor womanH802 aliveH2421[H8762], to bringH935[H8687] tidings to GathH1661, sayingH559[H8800], Lest they should tellH5046[H8686] on us, sayingH559[H8800], So didH6213[H8804] DavidH1732, and so will be his mannerH4941 all the whileH3117 he dwellethH3427[H8804] in the countryH7704 of the PhilistinesH6430.
[12]And Achis beleued Dauid, saying: He hath made his people Israel vtterly to abhorre him, & therefore he shalbe my seruaunt for euer [12]And AchishH397 believedH539[H8686] DavidH1732, sayingH559[H8800], He hath made his peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 utterlyH887[H8687] to abhorH887[H8689] him; therefore he shall be my servantH5650 for everH5769.
