| [1]But concerning the times and seasons, my brethren, ye need not that I write to you: |
[1]על זבנא דינ ועדנא אחי לא סניקינ אנתונ למכתב לכונ |
| [2]for ye know assuredly, that the day of our Lord so cometh, as a thief by night. |
[2]אנתונ גיר שׁריראית ידעינ אנתונ דיומה דמרנ איכ גנבא בלליא הכנא אתא |
| [3]While they will be saying, Peace and quietness, then suddenly destruction will burst upon them, as distress upon a child-bearer, and they will not escape. |
[3]כד נאמרונ דשׁלמא הו ושׁינא והידינ מנ שׁליא נקומ עליהונ אבדנא איכ חבלא על בטנתא ולא נמדונ |
| [4]But ye, my brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. |
[4]אנתונ דינ אחי לא הויתונ בחשׁוכא דהו יומא איכ גנבא נדרככונ |
| [5]For ye are all children of the light, and children of the day; and are not children of the night, and children of darkness. |
[5]כלכונ גיר בני נוהרא אנתונ ובני איממא ולא הויתונ בני לליא ולא בני חשׁוכא |
| [6]Let us not therefore sleep, like others; but let us be vigilant and considerate. |
[6]לא נדמכ הכיל איכ שׁרכא אלא הוינ עירינ ומהונינ |
| [7]For they who sleep, sleep in the night; and they who are drunken, are drunken in the night. |
[7]אילינ גיר דדמכינ בלליא הו דמכינ ואילינ דרוינ בלליא הו רוינ |
| [8]But let us who are children of the day, be wakeful in mind, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and take the helmet of the hope of life. |
[8]חננ דינ דבני איממא חננ הוינ עירינ ברעיננ ולבישׁינ שׁרינא דהימנותא ודחובא ונסימ סנורתא דסברא דחיא |
| [9]For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to the acquisition of life, by our Lord Jesus the Messiah: |
[9]מטל דלא סמנ אלהא לרוגזא אלא לקנינא דחיא במרנ ישׁוע משׁיחא |
| [10]who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we might live together with him. |
[10]הו דמית על אפינ דאנ עירינ חננ ואנ דמכינ חננ אכחדא עמה נחא |
| [11]Therefore comfort one another, and edify one another, as also ye have done. |
[11]מטל הנא ביאו חד לחד ובנו חד לחד איכנא דאפ עבדינ אנתונ |
| [12]And we entreat you, my brethren, that ye recognize them who labor among you, and who stand before your faces in our Lord, and instruct you : |
[12]בעינ חננ דינ מנכונ אחי דהויתונ ידעינ לאילינ דלאינ בכונ וקימינ באפיכונ במרנ ומלפינ לכונ |
| [13]that they may be esteemed by you with abundant love; and, on account of their work, live ye in harmony with them. |
[13]דהוו חשׁיבינ לכונ בחובא יתירא ומטל עבדהונ אשׁתינו עמהונ |
| [14]And we entreat you, my brethren, that ye admonish the faulty, and encourage the faint-hearted, and bear the burdens of the weak, and be long suffering towards all men. |
[14]בעינ חננ דינ מנכונ אחי רדו למסכלנא ולבבו לזעורי נפשׁא וסבו טענא דמחילא ואגרו רוחכונ לות כל אנשׁ |
| [15]And beware, lest any of you return evil for evil, but always follow good deeds, towards one another, and towards all men. |
[15]ואזדהרו דלמא אנשׁ מנכונ בישׁתא חלפ בישׁתא נפרוע אלא בכלזבנ הרטו בתר טבתא לות חדדא ולות כל אנשׁ |
| [16]And be joyful always. |
[16]הוו חדינ בכלזבנ |
| [17]And pray without ceasing. |
[17]ומצלינ דלא שׁלוא |
| [18]And in every thing be thankful: For this is the pleasure of God in Jesus the Messiah, concerning you. |
[18]ובכל מדמ הוו מודינ הנו גיר צבינה דאלהא בישׁוע משׁיחא בכונ |
| [19]Quench not the Spirit. |
[19]רוחא לא תדעכונ |
| [20]Despise not prophesying. |
[20]נביותא לא תסלונ |
| [21]Explore every thing, and hold fast the good: |
[21]כל מדמ בקו ודשׁפיר אחודו |
| [22]and fly from every thing evil. |
[22]ומנ כל צבו בישׁא ערוקו |
| [23]And may the God of peace sanctify you all, perfectly, and keep blameless your whole spirit, and your soul, and your body, till the coming of our Lord Jesus the Messiah. |
[23]הו דינ אלהא דשׁלמא נקדשׁכונ גמיראית לכלכונ וכלה רוחכונ ונפשׁכונ ופגרכונ ננטר דלא רשׁינ למאתיתה דמרנ ישׁוע משׁיחא |
| [24]Faithful is he that hath called you, who will do it. |
[24]מהימנ הו מנ דקרכונ דהו נעבד |
| [25]My brethren, pray for us. |
[25]אחי צלו עלינ |
| [26]Salute all our brethren with a holy kiss. |
[26]שׁאלו בשׁלמא דאחינ כלהונ בנושׁקתא קדישׁתא |
| [27]I conjure you by our Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren. |
[27]מומא אנא לכונ במרנ דתתקרא אגרתא הדא לכלהונ אחא קדישׁא |
| [28]The grace of our Lord Jesus the Messiah be with you. Amen.
