| [2]He reigned three year in Jerusalem: (his mother's name also was Michaiah [Maacah] the daughter of Uriel of Gibea) and there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. |
[2]He reignedH4427[H8804] threeH7969 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. His mother'sH517 nameH8034 also was MichaiahH4322 the daughterH1323 of UrielH222 of GibeahH1390. And there was warH4421 between AbijahH29 and JeroboamH3379. |
| [3]And Abijah set the battle in array with the army of valiant men of war, even four hundred thousand chosen men. Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men which were strong and valiant. |

| [4]And Abijah stood up upon mount Zemeraim, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, O Jeroboam, and all Israel, hear you me, |
[4]And AbijahH29 stood upH6965[H8799] upon mountH2022 ZemaraimH6787, which is in mountH2022 EphraimH669, and saidH559[H8799], HearH8085[H8798] me, thou JeroboamH3379, and all IsraelH3478; |
| [5]Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel hath given the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? |
[5]Ought ye not to knowH3045[H8800] that the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 gaveH5414[H8804] the kingdomH4467 over IsraelH3478 to DavidH1732 for everH5769, even to him and to his sonsH1121 by a covenantH1285 of saltH4417? |
| [6]And Jeroboam the son of Nebat the servant of Solomon the son of David is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord: |
[6]Yet JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, the servantH5650 of SolomonH8010 the sonH1121 of DavidH1732, is risen upH6965[H8799], and hath rebelledH4775[H8799] against his lordH113. |
| [7]And there are gathered to him vain men and wicked, and made themselves strong against Rehoboam the son of Solomon: for Rehoboam was but a child and tender hearted, and could not resist them. |

| [8]Now therefore ye think that ye be able to resist against the kingdom of the Lord, which is in the hands of the sons of David, and ye be a great multitude, and the golden calves are with you which Jeroboam made you for gods. |
[8]And now ye thinkH559[H8802] to withstandH2388[H8692] the kingdomH6440[H4467] of the LORDH3068 in the handH3027 of the sonsH1121 of DavidH1732; and ye be a greatH7227 multitudeH1995, and there are with you goldenH2091 calvesH5695, which JeroboamH3379 madeH6213[H8804] you for godsH430. |
| [9]Have ye not driven away the priests of the Lord the sons of Aaron and the Levites, and have made you priests like the people of other countries? Whosoever cometh to consecrate with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods. |
[9]Have ye not cast outH5080[H8689] the priestsH3548 of the LORDH3068, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, and the LevitesH3881, and have madeH6213[H8799] you priestsH3548 after the manner of the nationsH5971 of other landsH776? so that whosoever comethH935[H8802] to consecrateH4390[H8763][H3027] himself with a youngH1121[H1241] bullockH6499 and sevenH7651 ramsH352, the same may be a priestH3548 of them that are noH3808 godsH430. |
| [10]But we belong unto the Lord our God, and have not forsaken him, and the priests the sons of Aaron minister unto the Lord, and the Levites in their office. |
[10]But as for us, the LORDH3068 is our GodH430, and we have not forsakenH5800[H8804] him; and the priestsH3548, which ministerH8334[H8764] unto the LORDH3068, are the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, and the LevitesH3881 wait upon their businessH4399: |
| [11]And they burn unto the Lord every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense, and the bread is set in order upon the pure table, and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the watch of the Lord our God: but ye have forsaken him. |

| [12]And behold, this God is with us, as a captain, and his priests with the sounding trumpets, to cry an alarm against you. O ye children of Israel, fight not against the Lord God of your fathers: for ye shall not prosper. |
[12]And, behold, GodH430 himself is with us for our captainH7218, and his priestsH3548 with soundingH8643 trumpetsH2689 to cry alarmH7321[H8687] against you. O childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, fightH3898[H8735] ye not against the LORDH3068 GodH430 of your fathersH1; for ye shall not prosperH6743.[H8686] |
| [13]But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to compass, and come behind them, when they were before Judah, and the ambushment behind them. |
[13]But JeroboamH3379 caused an ambushmentH3993 to comeH935[H8800] aboutH5437[H8689] behindH310 them: so they were beforeH6440 JudahH3063, and the ambushmentH3993 was behind themH310. |
| [14]Then Judah looked, and behold, the battle was before and behind them, and they cried unto the Lord, and the priests blew with the trumpets, |
[14]And when JudahH3063 looked backH6437[H8799], behold, the battleH4421 was beforeH6440 and behindH268: and they criedH6817[H8799] unto the LORDH3068, and the priestsH3548 soundedH2690[H8688][H8675][H2690][H8764] with the trumpetsH2689. |
| [15]And the men of Judah gave a shout: and even as the men of Judah shouted, God smote Jeroboam and also Israel before Abijah and Judah. |
[15]Then the menH376 of JudahH3063 gave a shoutH7321[H8686]: and as the menH376 of JudahH3063 shoutedH7321[H8687], it came to pass, that GodH430 smoteH5062[H8804] JeroboamH3379 and all IsraelH3478 beforeH6440 AbijahH29 and JudahH3063. |
| [16]And the children of Israel fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hand. |
[16]And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 fledH5127[H8799] beforeH6440 JudahH3063: and GodH430 deliveredH5414[H8799] them into their handH3027. |
| [17]And Abijah and his people slew a great slaughter of them, so that there fell down wounded of Israel five hundred thousand chosen men. |
[17]And AbijahH29 and his peopleH5971 slewH5221[H8686] them with a greatH7227 slaughterH4347: so there fell downH5307[H8799] slainH2491 of IsraelH3478 fiveH2568 hundredH3967 thousandH505 chosenH977[H8803] menH376. |
| [18]So the children of Israel were brought under at that time: and the children of Judah prevailed, because they stayed upon the Lord God of their fathers. |
[18]Thus the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 were broughtH3665[H8735] under at that timeH6256, and the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063 prevailedH553[H8799], because they reliedH8172[H8738] upon the LORDH3068 GodH430 of their fathersH1. |
| [19]And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, even Bethel, and the villages thereof, and Jeshanah with her villages, and Ephron with her villages. |
[19]And AbijahH29 pursuedH7291[H8799] afterH310 JeroboamH3379, and tookH3920[H8799] citiesH5892 from him, BethelH1008 with the townsH1323 thereof, and JeshanahH3466 with the townsH1323 thereof, and EphrainH6085 with the towns thereofH1323. |
| [20]And Jeroboam recovered no strength again in the days of Abijah, but the Lord plagued him, and he died. |
[20]Neither did JeroboamH3379 recoverH6113[H8804] strengthH3581 again in the daysH3117 of AbijahH29: and the LORDH3068 struckH5062[H8799] him, and he diedH4191.[H8799] |
| [21]So Abijah waxed mighty, and married fourteen wives, and begat two and twenty sons, and sixteen daughters. |
[21]But AbijahH29 waxed mightyH2388[H8691], and marriedH5375[H8799] fourteenH702[H6240] wivesH802, and begatH3205[H8686] twentyH6242 and twoH8147 sonsH1121, and sixteenH8337[H6240] daughtersH1323. |
