| [2]and he went out to meet Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin, and said, Hear me, Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin. The Lord is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him out, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. |
[2]And he went outH3318[H8799] to meetH6440 AsaH609, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, HearH8085[H8798] ye me, AsaH609, and all JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144; The LORDH3068 is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seekH1875[H8799] him, he will be foundH4672[H8735] of you; but if ye forsakeH5800[H8799] him, he will forsakeH5800 youH8799. |
| [3]And Israel has been a long time without the true God, and without a priest to expound the truth, and without the law. |
[3]Now for a longH7227 seasonH3117 IsraelH3478 hath been withoutH3808 the trueH571 GodH430, and without a teachingH3384[H8688] priestH3548, and without lawH8451. |
| [4]But he shall turn them to the Lord God of Israel, and he will be found of them. |
[4]But when they in their troubleH6862 did turnH7725[H8799] unto the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, and soughtH1245[H8762] him, he was foundH4672 of themH8735. |
| [5]And in that time there is no peace to one going out, or to one coming in, for the terror of the Lord is upon all that inhabit the lands. |
[5]And in those timesH6256 there was no peaceH7965 to him that went outH3318[H8802], nor to him that came inH935[H8802], but greatH7227 vexationsH4103 were upon all the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of the countriesH776. |
| [6]And nation shall fight against nation, and city against city; for God has confounded them with every kind of affliction. |
[6]And nationH1471 was destroyedH3807[H8795] of nationH1471, and cityH5892 of cityH5892: for GodH430 did vexH2000[H8804] them with all adversityH6869. |
| [7]But be ye strong, and let not your hands be weakened: for there is a reward for your work. |
[7]Be ye strongH2388[H8798] therefore, and let not your handsH3027 be weakH7503[H8799]: for your workH6468 shall beH3426 rewardedH7939. |
| [8]And when Asa heard these words, and the prophesy of Adad the prophet, then he strengthened himself, and cast out the abominations from all the land of Juda and Benjamin, and from the cities which Jeroboam possessed, in mount Ephraim, and he renewed the altar of the Lord, which was before the temple of the Lord. |
[8]And when AsaH609 heardH8085[H8800] these wordsH1697, and the prophecyH5016 of OdedH5752 the prophetH5030, he took courageH2388[H8694], and put awayH5674[H8686] the abominable idolsH8251 out of all the landH776 of JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144, and out of the citiesH5892 which he had takenH3920[H8804] from mountH2022 EphraimH669, and renewedH2318[H8762] the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068, that was beforeH6440 the porchH197 of the LORDH3068. |
| [9]And he assembled Juda and Benjamin, and the strangers that dwelt with him, of Ephraim, and of Manasse, and of Symeon: for many of Israel were joined to him, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him. |
[9]And he gatheredH6908[H8799] all JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144, and the strangersH1481[H8802] with them out of EphraimH669 and ManassehH4519, and out of SimeonH8095: for they fellH5307[H8804] to him out of IsraelH3478 in abundanceH7230, when they sawH7200[H8800] that the LORDH3068 his God was with himH430. |
| [10]And they assembled at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. |
[10]So they gathered themselves togetherH6908[H8735] at JerusalemH3389 in the thirdH7992 monthH2320, in the fifteenthH2568[H6240] yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of AsaH609. |
| [11]And he sacrificed to the Lord in that day of the spoils which they brought, seven hundred calves and seven thousand sheep. |
[11]And they offeredH2076[H8799] unto the LORDH3068 the same timeH3117, of the spoilH7998 which they had broughtH935[H8689], sevenH7651 hundredH3967 oxenH1241 and sevenH7651 thousandH505 sheepH6629. |
| [12]And he entered into a covenant that they should seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul. |

| [13]And that whoever should not seek the Lord God of Israel, should die, whether young or old, whether man or woman. |
[13]That whosoever would not seekH1875[H8799] the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 should be put to deathH4191[H8714], whetherH4480 smallH6996 or greatH1419, whether manH376 or womanH802. |
| [14]And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice, and with trumpets, and with cornets. |
[14]And they swareH7650[H8735] unto the LORDH3068 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963, and with shoutingH8643, and with trumpetsH2689, and with cornetsH7782. |
| [15]And all Juda rejoiced concerning the oath: for they swore with all their heart, and they sought him with all their desires; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about. |
[15]And all JudahH3063 rejoicedH8055[H8799] at the oathH7621: for they had swornH7650[H8738] with all their heartH3824, and soughtH1245[H8765] him with their whole desireH7522; and he was foundH4672[H8735] of them: and the LORDH3068 gave them restH5117[H8799] round aboutH5439. |
| [16]And he removed Maacha his mother from being priestess to Astarte; and he cut down the idol, and burnt it in the brook of Kedron. |
[16]And also concerning MaachahH4601 the motherH517 of AsaH609 the kingH4428, he removedH5493[H8689] her from being queenH1377, because she had madeH6213[H8804] an idolH4656 in a groveH842: and AsaH609 cut downH3772[H8799] her idolH4656, and stampedH1854[H8686] it, and burntH8313[H8799] it at the brookH5158 KidronH6939. |
| [17]Nevertheless they removed not the high places: they still existed in Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days. |
[17]But the high placesH1116 were not taken awayH5493[H8804] out of IsraelH3478: nevertheless the heartH3824 of AsaH609 was perfectH8003 all his daysH3117. |
| [18]And he brought in the holy things of David his father, and the holy things of the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels. |
[18]And he broughtH935[H8686] into the houseH1004 of GodH430 the things that his fatherH1 had dedicatedH6944, and that he himself had dedicatedH6944, silverH3701, and goldH2091, and vesselsH3627. |
| [19]And there was no war waged with him until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa. |
[19]And there was no more warH4421 unto the fiveH2568 and thirtiethH7970 yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of AsaH609. |
