[1]Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. [1]Manasseh was twelve year old, when he began to reign, and he reigned five and fifty year in Jerusalem:
[2]And he did that which was evil in the sight of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, after the abominations of the nations, whom ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ cast out before the children of Israel. [2]And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, like the abominations of the heathen, who the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
[3]For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he reared up altars for the Baalim, and made Asheroth, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. [3]For he went back and built the high places, which Hezekiah his father had broken down: and he set up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshiped all the host of the heaven, and served them.
[4]And he built altars in the house of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, whereof ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said: 'In Jerusalem shall My name be for ever.' [4]Also he built altars in the house of the Lord, whereof the Lord had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be forever.
[5]And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎. [5]And he built altars for all the host of the heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
[6]He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; and he practised soothsaying, and used enchantments, and practised sorcery, and appointed them that divined by a ghost or a familiar spirit; he wrought much evil in the sight of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, to provoke Him. [6]And he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom: he gave himself to witchcraft and to charming and to sorcery, and he used them that had familiar spirits, and soothsayers: he did very much evil in the sight of the Lord to anger him.
[7]And he set the graven image of the idol, which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son: 'In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put My name for ever; [7]He put also the carved image, which he had made, in the house of God: whereof God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name forever,
[8]Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers; if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, even all the law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.' [8]Neither will I make the foot of Israel to remove anymore out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers, so that they take heed, and do all that I have commanded them, according to the law and statutes and judgments by the hand of Moses.
[9]And Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, so that they did evil more than did the nations, whom ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ destroyed before t children of Israel. [9]So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
[10]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ spoke to Manasseh, and to his people; but they gave no heed. Wherefore ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. [10]And the Lord spake to Manasseh and to his people, but they would not regard.
11[No verse] [11]Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Asshur [Assyria], which took Manasseh and put him in fetters, and bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon.
[12]And when he was in distress, he besought ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. [12]And when he was in tribulation, he prayed to the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
[13]And he prayed unto Him; and He was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ He was God. [13]And prayed unto him: and God was entreated of him, and heard his prayer, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom: then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.
[14]Now after this he built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate; and he compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height; and he put captains of the army in all the fortified cities of Judah. [14]Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the Westside of Gihon in the valley, even at the entry of the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it very high, and put captains of war in all the strong cities of Judah.
[15]And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city. [15]And he took away the strange gods and the image out of the house of the Lord, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the Lord, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
[16]And he built up the altar of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, and offered thereon sacrifices of peace-offerings and of thanksgiving, and commanded Judah to serve ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, the God of Israel. [16]Also he prepared the altar of the Lord, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings, and of thanks, and commanded Judah to serve the Lord God of Israel.
[17]Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, but only unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ their God. [17]Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, but unto the Lord their God.
[18]Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spoke to him in the name of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, the God of Israel, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Israel. [18]Concerning the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers, that spake to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
[19]His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sin and his transgression, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up the Asherim and the graven images, before he humbled himself; behold, they are written in the history of the seers. [19]And his prayer and how God was entreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set groves and images (before he was humbled) behold, they are written in the book of the seers.
[20]So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house; and Amon his son reigned in his stead. [20]So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
[21]Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. [21]Amon was two and twenty year old, when he began to reign, and reigned two year in Jerusalem.
[22]And he did that which was evil in the sight of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, as did Manasseh his father; and Amon sacrificed unto all the graven images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them. [22]But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed to all the images, which Manasseh his father had made, and served them,
[23]And he humbled not himself before ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎, as Manasseh his father ha humbled himself; but this same Amon became guilty more and more. [23]And he humbled not himself before the Lord, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself: but this Amon trespassed more and more.
[24]And his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house. [24]And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
[25]But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead. [25]But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon: and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.
