The King James Version (w/Strong's)
KJV+
[1]Now I Paul myself beseech you, by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold towards you: [1]NowG1161 IG1473 PaulG3972 myselfG846 beseechG3870[G5719] youG5209 byG1223 the meeknessG4236 andG2532 gentlenessG1932 of ChristG5547, whoG3739 inG2596 presenceG4383 am baseG3303[G5011] amongG1722 youG5213, butG1161 being absentG548[G5752] am boldG2292[G5719] towardG1519 youG5209:
[2]But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, with which I think to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. [2]ButG1161 I beseechG1189[G5736] you, that I may notG3361 be boldG2292[G5658] when I am presentG3918[G5752] with that confidenceG4006, wherewithG3739 I thinkG3049[G5736] to be boldG5111[G5658] againstG1909 someG5100, whichG3588 thinkG3049[G5740] of usG2248 asG5613 if we walkedG4043[G5723] accordingG2596 to the fleshG4561.
[3]For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh: [3]ForG1063 though we walkG4043[G5723] inG1722 the fleshG4561, we doG4754 notG3756 warG4754[G5731] afterG2596 the fleshG4561:
[4](For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [4](ForG1063 the weaponsG3696 of ourG2257 warfareG4752 are notG3756 carnalG4559, butG235 mightyG1415 through GodG2316 toG4314 the pulling downG2506 of strong holdsG3794;)
[5]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [5]Casting downG2507[G5723] imaginationsG3053, andG2532 everyG3956 high thingG5313 that exalteth itselfG1869[G5734] againstG2596 the knowledgeG1108 of GodG2316, andG2532 bringing into captivityG163[G5723] everyG3956 thoughtG3540 toG1519 the obedienceG5218 of ChristG5547;
[6]And having in a readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. [6]AndG2532 havingG2192[G5723] inG1722 a readinessG2092 to revengeG1556[G5658] allG3956 disobedienceG3876, whenG3752 yourG5216 obedienceG5218 is fulfilledG4137.[G5686]
[7]Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trusteth to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. [7]Do ye look onG991[G5719] things afterG2596 the outward appearanceG4383? If any manG1536 trustG3982[G5754] to himselfG1438 that he isG1511[G5750] Christ'sG5547, let himG3049 ofG575 himselfG1438 thinkG3049[G5737] thisG5124 againG3825, thatG3754, asG2531 heG846 is Christ'sG5547, evenG2532 soG3779 are weG2249 Christ'sG5547.
[8]For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: [8]ForG1063[G2532] thoughG1437[G5037] I should boastG2744[G5667] somewhatG5100 moreG4055 ofG4012 ourG2257 authorityG1849, whichG3739 the LordG2962 hath givenG1325[G5656] usG2254 forG1519 edificationG3619, andG2532 notG3756 forG1519 yourG5216 destructionG2506, I shouldG153 notG3756 be ashamedG153:[G5701]
[9]That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters. [9]ThatG3363 I mayG1380 notG3363 seemG1380[G5661] asG5613 ifG302 I would terrifyG1629[G5721] youG5209 byG1223 lettersG1992.
[10]For his letters (say they) are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. [10]ForG3754 his lettersG1992[G3303], say theyG5346[G5748], are weightyG926 andG2532 powerfulG2478; butG1161 his bodilyG4983 presenceG3952 is weakG772, andG2532 his speechG3056 contemptibleG1848.[G5772]
[11]Let such one think this, that such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present. [11]LetG3049 such an oneG5108 thinkG3049[G5737] thisG5124, thatG3754, such asG3634 we areG2070[G5748] in wordG3056 byG1223 lettersG1992 when we are absentG548[G5752], suchG5108 will we be alsoG2532 in deedG2041 when we are presentG3918.[G5752]
[12]For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. [12]ForG1063 we dareG5111[G5719] notG3756 makeG1469 ourselves of the numberG1469[G5658], orG2228 compareG4793 ourselvesG1438 withG4793[G5658] someG5100 that commendG4921[G5723] themselvesG1438: butG235 theyG846 measuringG3354[G5723] themselvesG1438 byG1722 themselvesG1438, andG2532 comparingG4793 themselvesG1438 amongG4793[G5723] themselvesG1438, areG4920 notG3756 wiseG4920.[G5719]
[13]But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even to you. [13]ButG1161 weG2249 willG2744 notG3780 boastG2744[G5695] of things withoutG1519 our measureG280, butG235 accordingG2596 to the measureG3358 of the ruleG2583 whichG3739 GodG2316 hath distributedG3307[G5656] to usG2254, a measureG3358 to reachG2185[G5635] evenG2532 untoG891 youG5216.
[14]For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not to you; for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: [14]ForG1063 we stretchG5239 notG3756 ourselvesG1438 beyondG5239[G5719] our measure, asG5613 though we reachedG2185[G5740] notG3361 untoG1519 youG5209: forG1063 we are comeG5348[G5656] as far asG891 to youG5216 alsoG2532 inG1722 preaching the gospelG2098 of ChristG5547:
[15]Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labors; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you, according to our rule abundantly, [15]NotG3756 boastingG2744[G5740] of things withoutG1519 our measureG280, that is, ofG1722 other men'sG245 laboursG2873; butG1161 havingG2192[G5723] hopeG1680, when yourG5216 faithG4102 is increasedG837[G5746], that we shall be enlargedG3170[G5683] byG1722 youG5213 accordingG2596 to ourG2257 ruleG2583 G1519abundantlyG4050
[16]To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand. [16]To preach the gospelG2097[G5670] inG1519 the regions beyondG5238 youG5216, and notG3756 to boastG2744[G5664] inG1722 another man'sG245 lineG2583 ofG1519 things made ready to our handG2092.
[17]But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. [17]ButG1161 he that gloriethG2744[G5740], let him gloryG2744[G5737] inG1722 the LordG2962.
[18]For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. [18]ForG1063 notG3756 heG1565 that commendethG4921[G5723] himselfG1438 isG2076[G5748] approvedG1384, butG235 whomG3739 the LordG2962 commendethG4921.[G5719]
