Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]This is the third time that I come unto you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word stand [1]THIS is the third time I am ready to come to you, for by the mouth of two or three witnesses every charge is sustained.
[2]I told you before, and tell you before: as though I had been present the second time, so write I now being absent to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all others, that if I come again, I will not spare, [2]I have told you before, and again I tell you in advance, just as I have told you on my two previous visits; and now even while I am far away I write to those who have sinned, and to all others, that if I come again, I will not spare any one:
[3]Seeing that ye seek experience of Christ, that speaketh in me, which toward you is not weak, but is mighty in you. [3]Since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, he has never been weak among you, but is mighty in you.
[4]For though he was crucified concerning his infirmity, yet liveth he through the power of God. And we no doubt are weak in him: but we shall live with him, through the power of God toward you. [4]For though Jesus was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. As we are weak with him, so we are alive with him by the power of God who is among you.
[5]Prove yourselves whether ye are in the faith: examine yourselves: know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? [5]Examine yourselves, whether you are in the same faith; heal your souls. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is among you? If this is not so, then you are rejected.
[6]But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. [6]But I trust that you shall know that we are not rejected.
[7]Now I pray unto God that ye do none evil, not that we should seem approved, but that ye should do that which is honest: though we be as reprobates. [7]And I pray to God that our investigation will find nothing wrong with you; but that you may be found doing good things, even though we may appear as though we were rejected.
[8]For we cannot do any thing against the truth, but for the truth. [8]For we cannot do anything against the truth, but for the truth.
[9]For we are glad when we are weak, and that ye are strong: this also we wish for even your perfection. [9]For we are glad, when we are weak, and you are strong: and this also we pray for, that you may be perfected.
[10]Therefore write I these things being absent, lest when I am present, I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me, to edification, and not to destruction. [10]Therefore I write these things while I am far away, so that when I come, I need not deal harshly with you, according to the authority which my LORD has given me, which is for your edification and not for your destruction.
[11]Finally brethren, fare ye well: be perfect: be of good comfort: be of one mind: live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you. [11]Henceforth, my brethren, rejoice, be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
[12]Greet one another with an holy kiss. All the Saints salute you. [12]Greet one another with a holy kiss.
[13]The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all, Amen. ΒΆ The second Epistle to the Corinthians, written from Philippi, a city in Macedonia, and sent by Titus and Lucas. [13]All the saints salute you.
14[No verse] [14]The peace of our LORD Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.
