KJV+
[1]In the thridde yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, regnyde Ezechie, sone of Achaz, kyng of Juda. [1]Now it came to pass in the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 sonH1121 of ElahH425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, that HezekiahH2396 the sonH1121 of AhazH271 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began to reignH4427.[H8804]
[2]He was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Abisa, douyter of Zacharie. [2]TwentyH6242 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 oldH1121 was he when he began to reignH4427[H8800]; and he reignedH4427[H8804] twentyH6242 and nineH8672 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. His mother'sH517 nameH8034 also was AbiH21, the daughterH1323 of ZachariahH2148.
[3]And he dide that, that was good bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis, which Dauid, his fadir, hadde do. [3]And he didH6213[H8799] that which was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, according to all that DavidH1732 his fatherH1 didH6213.[H8804]
[4]And he distriede hiye places, and al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and he brak the brasun serpent, whom Moyses hadde maad; for `til to that tyme the sones of Israel brenten encense to it; and he clepide the name therof Noestam. [4]He removedH5493[H8689] the high placesH1116, and brakeH7665[H8765] the imagesH4676, and cut downH3772[H8804] the grovesH842, and brake in piecesH3807[H8765] the brasenH5178 serpentH5175 that MosesH4872 had madeH6213[H8804]: for unto those daysH3117 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 did burn incenseH6999[H8764] to it: and he calledH7121[H8799] it NehushtanH5180.
[5]And he hopide in the Lord God of Israel; therfor aftir hym noon was lijk hym of alle the kyngis of Juda, but `and nether in tho kyngis that weren bifor hym. [5]He trustedH982[H8804] in the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478; so that afterH310 him was none like him among all the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, nor any that were before himH6440.
[6]And he cleuyde to the Lord, and yede not awei fro hise steppis, and he dide the comaundementis of the Lord, whiche the Lord comaundide to Moises; [6]For he claveH1692[H8799] to the LORDH3068, and departedH5493[H8804] not from followingH310 him, but keptH8104[H8799] his commandmentsH4687, which the LORDH3068 commandedH6680[H8765] MosesH4872.
[7]wherfor and the Lord was with hym, and he gouernede wiseli hym silf in alle thingis, to whiche he yede forth. Also he rebellide ayens the kyng of Assiriens, and therfor he seruede not to `that kyng of Asseriens; [7]And the LORDH3068 was with him; and he prosperedH7919[H8686] whithersoever he went forthH3318[H8799]: and he rebelledH4775[H8799] against the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and servedH5647 him notH8804.
[8]and he smoot Philisteis `til to Gazam, and alle the termes of hem, fro the tour of keperis `til to a citee maad strong. [8]He smoteH5221[H8689] the PhilistinesH6430, even unto GazaH5804, and the bordersH1366 thereof, from the towerH4026 of the watchmenH5341[H8802] to the fencedH4013 cityH5892.
[9]In the fourthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, that was the seuenthe yeer of Osee, sone of Hela, kyng of Israel, Salmanazar, kyng of Assiriens, stiede to Samarie, [9]And it came to pass in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of kingH4428 HezekiahH2396, which was the seventhH7637 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 sonH1121 of ElahH425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, that ShalmaneserH8022 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 came upH5927[H8804] against SamariaH8111, and besiegedH6696 itH8799.
[10]and fauyt ayens it, and took it. For after thre yeer, in the sixte yeer of Ezechie, that is, in the nynthe yeer of Osee, kyng of Israel, Samarie was takun; [10]And at the endH7097 of threeH7969 yearsH8141 they tookH3920[H8799] it: even in the sixthH8337 yearH8141 of HezekiahH2396, that is the ninthH8672 yearH8141 of HosheaH1954 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, SamariaH8111 was takenH3920.[H8738]
[11]and the kyng of Assiriens translatide Israel in to Assiriens, and settyde hem in Haila, and in Habor, ryueris of Gozam, in the citees of Medeis; [11]And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 did carry awayH1540[H8686] IsraelH3478 unto AssyriaH804, and putH5148[H8686] them in HalahH2477 and in HaborH2249 by the riverH5104 of GozanH1470, and in the citiesH5892 of the MedesH4074:
[12]for thei herden not the vois of her Lord God, but thei braken his couenaunt; thei herden not, nether diden alle thingis, whiche Moises, the seruaunt of the Lord, comaundide. [12]Because they obeyedH8085[H8804] not the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 their GodH430, but transgressedH5674[H8799] his covenantH1285, and all that MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of the LORDH3068 commandedH6680[H8765], and would not hearH8085[H8804] them, nor doH6213 themH8804.
[13]In the fourtenthe yeer of kyng Ezechie, Senacherub, kyng of Assiryens, stiede to alle the strengthide citees of Juda, and took tho. [13]Now in the fourteenthH702[H6240] yearH8141 of kingH4428 HezekiahH2396 did SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 come upH5927[H8804] against all the fencedH1219[H8803] citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and tookH8610 themH8799.
[14]Thanne Ezechie, kyng of Juda, sente messangeris to the kyng of Assiriens in to Lachis, and seide, Y haue synned; go awei fro me, and Y schal bere `al thing, which thou schalt putte to me. Therfor the kyng of Asseriens puttide on Ezechie, kyng of Juda, thre hundrid talentis of siluer, and thretti talentis of gold. [14]And HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sentH7971[H8799] to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 to LachishH3923, sayingH559[H8800], I have offendedH2398[H8804]; returnH7725[H8798] from me: that which thou puttestH5414[H8799] on me will I bearH5375[H8799]. And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 appointedH7760[H8799] unto HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 threeH7969 hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701 and thirtyH7970 talentsH3603 of goldH2091.
[15]And Ezechie yaf al the siluer, that was foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the kyngis tresories. [15]And HezekiahH2396 gaveH5414[H8799] him all the silverH3701 that was foundH4672[H8737] in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in the treasuresH214 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004.
[16]In that tyme Ezechie brak the yatis of the temple of the Lord, and the platis of gold, whiche he hadde fastned, and he yaf tho to the kyng of Assiriens. [16]At that timeH6256 did HezekiahH2396 cut offH7112[H8765] the gold from the doorsH1817 of the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068, and from the pillarsH547 which HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 had overlaidH6823[H8765], and gaveH5414[H8799] it to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.
[17]Forsothe the kyng of Assiriens sente Thercha and Rabsaces fro Lachis to kyng Ezechie, with strong hond to Jerusalem; and whanne thei hadden stied, thei camen to Jerusalem, and stoden bisidis the water cundijt of the hiyere cisterne, which is in the weie of the fullere, `ethir toukere. [17]And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 sentH7971[H8799] TartanH8661 and RabsarisH7249 and RabshakehH7262 from LachishH3923 to kingH4428 HezekiahH2396 with a greatH3515 hostH2426 against JerusalemH3389. And they went upH5927[H8799] and cameH935[H8799] to JerusalemH3389. And when they were come upH5927[H8799], they cameH935[H8799] and stoodH5975[H8799] by the conduitH8585 of the upperH5945 poolH1295, which is in the highwayH4546 of the fuller'sH3526[H8801] fieldH7704.
[18]And thei clepiden the kyng; sotheli Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryueyn, and Joahe, chaunseler, the sone of Asaph, yeden out to hem. [18]And when they had calledH7121[H8799] to the kingH4428, there came outH3318[H8799] to them EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518, which was over the householdH1004, and ShebnaH7644 the scribeH5608[H8802], and JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of AsaphH623 the recorderH2142.[H8688]
[19]And Rabsaces seide to hem, Speke ye to Ezechie, The grete kyng, the kyng of Assiriens, seith these thingis, What is this trist, in which thou enforsist? [19]And RabshakehH7262 saidH559[H8799] unto them, SpeakH559[H8798] ye now to HezekiahH2396, Thus saithH559[H8804] the greatH1419 kingH4428, the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, What confidenceH986 is this wherein thou trustestH982?[H8804]
[20]In hap thou hast take counsel, that thou woldist make thee redi to batel. In whom tristist thou, that thou be hardi to rebelle? [20]Thou sayestH559[H8804], (but they are but vainH8193 wordsH1697,) I have counselH6098 and strengthH1369 for the warH4421. Now on whom dost thou trustH982[H8804], that thou rebellestH4775 against meH8804?
[21]Whethir thou hopist in a `staf of rehed and brokun, Egipt, on which, if a man lenith, it schal be brokun, and schal entre in to hys hond, and schal peerse it? So is Farao, kyng of Egipt, to alle men that tristen on hym. [21]Now, behold, thou trustestH982[H8804] upon the staffH4938 of this bruisedH7533[H8803] reedH7070, even upon EgyptH4714, on which if a manH376 leanH5564[H8735], it will goH935[H8804] into his handH3709, and pierceH5344[H8804] it: so is PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 unto all that trustH982 on himH8802.
[22]That if thou seist to me, We han trist in `oure Lord God; whether this is not he, whos hiye thingis and auteris Ezechie took awei, and comaundide to Juda and to Jerusalem, Ye schulen worschipe bifor this auter in Jerusalem? [22]But if ye sayH559[H8799] unto me, We trustH982[H8804] in the LORDH3068 our GodH430: is not that he, whose high placesH1116 and whose altarsH4196 HezekiahH2396 hath taken awayH5493[H8689], and hath saidH559[H8799] to JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, Ye shall worshipH7812[H8691] beforeH6440 this altarH4196 in JerusalemH3389?
[23]Now therfor passe ye to my lord, the kyng of Assiriens, and Y schal yyue to you twei thousynde of horsis, and se ye, whether ye moun haue rideris of `tho horsis? [23]Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledgesH6148[H8690] to my lordH113 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and I will deliverH5414[H8799] thee two thousandH505 horsesH5483, if thou be ableH3201[H8799] on thy part to setH5414[H8800] ridersH7392 upon themH8802.
[24]And hou moun ye withstonde bifor o prince of the leste seruauntis of my lord? Whether thou hast trist in Egipt, for charis and knyytis? [24]How then wilt thou turn awayH7725[H8686] the faceH6440 of oneH259 captainH6346 of the leastH6996 of my master'sH113 servantsH5650, and put thy trustH982[H8799] on EgyptH4714 for chariotsH7393 and for horsemenH6571?
[25]Whether Y stiede with outen `Goddis wille to this place, that Y schulde distrie it? `The Lord seide to me, `Stie thou to this lond, and distrie thou it. [25]Am I now come upH5927[H8804] withoutH1107 the LORDH3068 against this placeH4725 to destroyH7843[H8687] it? The LORDH3068 saidH559[H8804] to me, Go upH5927[H8798] against this landH776, and destroyH7843 itH8685.
[26]Forsothe Eliachym, sone of Elchie, and Sobna, and Joahe, seiden to Rabsaces, We preien, that thou speke bi the langage of Sirie to vs, thi seruauntis; for we vndirstondun this langage; and that thou speke not to vs bi the langage of Juwis, while the puple herith, which is on the wal. [26]Then saidH559[H8799] EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518, and ShebnaH7644, and JoahH3098, unto RabshakehH7262, SpeakH1696[H8761], I pray thee, to thy servantsH5650 in the Syrian languageH762; for we understandH8085[H8802] it: and talkH1696[H8762] not with us in the Jews' languageH3066 in the earsH241 of the peopleH5971 that are on the wallH2346.
[27]And Rabsaces answeride, `and seide, Whethir my lord sente me to thi lord and to thee, that Y schulde speke these wordis, and not rather to the men `that sitten on the wal, that thei ete her toordis, and drynke her pisse with you? [27]But RabshakehH7262 saidH559[H8799] unto them, Hath my masterH113 sentH7971[H8804] me to thy masterH113, and to thee, to speakH1696[H8763] these wordsH1697? hath he not sent me to the menH582 which sitH3427[H8802] on the wallH2346, that they may eatH398[H8800] their own dungH6675[H8675][H2755], and drinkH8354[H8800] their own pissH4325[H7272][H8675] with youH7890?
[28]Therfor Rabsaces stood, and criede with greet vois bi langage of Jewis, and seide, Here ye the wordis of the greet kyng, the kyng of Assiriens. [28]Then RabshakehH7262 stoodH5975[H8799] and criedH7121[H8799] with a loudH1419 voiceH6963 in the Jews' languageH3066, and spakeH1696[H8762], sayingH559[H8799], HearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the greatH1419 kingH4428, the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804:
[29]The kyng seith these thingis, Ezechie disceyue not you, for he may not delyuere you fro myn hond; [29]Thus saithH559[H8804] the kingH4428, Let not HezekiahH2396 deceiveH5377[H8686] you: for he shall not be ableH3201[H8799] to deliverH5337[H8687] you out of his handH3027:
[30]nether yyue he trist to you on the Lord, and seie, The Lord delyuerynge schal delyuere vs, and this citee shal not be bitakun in the hond of the kyng of Assiriens; [30]Neither let HezekiahH2396 make you trustH982[H8686] in the LORDH3068, sayingH559[H8800], The LORDH3068 will surelyH5337[H8687] deliverH5337[H8686] us, and this cityH5892 shall not be deliveredH5414[H8735] into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.
[31]nyle ye here Ezechie. For the kyng of Assiriens seith these thingis, Do ye with me that, that is profitable to you, and go ye out to me; and eche man schal ete of his vyner, and of his fige tree, and ye schulen drynke watris of youre cisternes, [31]HearkenH8085[H8799] not to HezekiahH2396: for thus saithH559[H8804] the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, MakeH6213[H8798] an agreement with me by a presentH1293, and come outH3318[H8798] to me, and then eatH398[H8798] ye every manH376 of his own vineH1612, and every oneH376 of his fig treeH8384, and drinkH8354[H8798] ye every oneH376 the watersH4325 of his cisternH953:
[32]til Y come, and translate you in to a lond which is lijk youre lond, in to a fruytful lond, and plenteuouse of wyn, a lond of breed, and of vineris, a lond of olyue trees, and of oile, and of hony; and ye schulen lyue, and ye schulen not die. Nyle ye here Ezechie, that disseyueth you, and seith, The Lord schal delyuere yow. [32]Until I comeH935[H8800] and take you awayH3947[H8804] to a landH776 like your own landH776, a landH776 of cornH1715 and wineH8492, a landH776 of breadH3899 and vineyardsH3754, a landH776 of oilH3323 oliveH2132 and of honeyH1706, that ye may liveH2421[H8798], and not dieH4191[H8799]: and hearkenH8085[H8799] not unto HezekiahH2396, when he persuadethH5496[H8686] you, sayingH559[H8800], The LORDH3068 will deliverH5337 usH8686.
[33]Whether the goddis of hethene men delyueriden her lond fro the hond of the kyng of Assiriens? [33]Hath anyH376 of the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 deliveredH5337[H8689] at allH5337[H8687] his landH776 out of the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804?
[34]Where is god of Emath, and of Arphat? Where is god of Sapharuaym, of Ana, and of Aua? Whether thei delyueriden Samarie fro myn hond? [34]Where are the godsH430 of HamathH2574, and of ArpadH774? where are the godsH430 of SepharvaimH5617, HenaH2012, and IvahH5755? have they deliveredH5337[H8689] SamariaH8111 out of mine handH3027?
[35]For who ben thei in alle goddis of londis, that delyueriden her cuntrey fro myn hond, that the Lord may delyuere Jerusalem fro myn hoond? [35]Who are they among all the godsH430 of the countriesH776, that have deliveredH5337[H8689] their countryH776 out of mine handH3027, that the LORDH3068 should deliverH5337[H8686] JerusalemH3389 out of mine handH3027?
[36]Therfor the puple was stille, and answeride not ony thing to hym; for thei hadden take comaundement of the kyng, that thei schulden not answere to hym. [36]But the peopleH5971 held their peaceH2790[H8689], and answeredH6030[H8804] him not a wordH1697: for the king'sH4428 commandmentH4687 was, sayingH559[H8800], AnswerH6030 him notH8799.
[37]And Eliachym, sone of Elchie, the souereyn of the hows, and Sobna, scryuen, and Joahe, chaunceler, the sone of Asaph, camen with to-rent clothis to Ezechie; and telden to hym the wordis of Rabsaces. [37]Then cameH935[H8799] EliakimH471 the sonH1121 of HilkiahH2518, which was over the householdH1004, and ShebnaH7644 the scribeH5608[H8802], and JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of AsaphH623 the recorderH2142[H8688], to HezekiahH2396 with their clothesH899 rentH7167[H8803], and toldH5046[H8686] him the wordsH1697 of RabshakehH7262.
