[1]In those daysH3117 was HezekiahH2396 sickH2470[H8804] unto deathH4191[H8800]. And the prophetH5030 IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 cameH935[H8799] to him, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, Set thine houseH1004 in orderH6680[H8761]; for thou shalt dieH4191[H8801], and not liveH2421.[H8799] [1]About that time was Hezekiah sick unto death: and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Put thine house in an order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
[2]Then he turnedH5437[H8686] his faceH6440 to the wallH7023, and prayedH6419[H8691] unto the LORDH3068, sayingH559,[H8800] [2]Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord, saying,
[3]I beseechH577 thee, O LORDH3068, rememberH2142[H8798] now how I have walkedH1980[H8694] beforeH6440 thee in truthH571 and with a perfectH8003 heartH3824, and have doneH6213[H8804] that which is goodH2896 in thy sightH5869. And HezekiahH2396 weptH1058[H8799][H1065] soreH1419. [3]I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
[4]And it came to pass, afore IsaiahH3470 was gone outH3318[H8804] into the middleH8484 courtH2691[H8675][H5892], that the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to him, sayingH559,[H8800] [4]And afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle of the court, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
[5]Turn againH7725[H8798], and tellH559[H8804] HezekiahH2396 the captainH5057 of my peopleH5971, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of DavidH1732 thy fatherH1, I have heardH8085[H8804] thy prayerH8605, I have seenH7200[H8804] thy tearsH1832: behold, I will healH7495[H8802] thee: on the thirdH7992 dayH3117 thou shalt go upH5927[H8799] unto the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. [5]Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, and seen thy tears: behold, I have healed thee, and the third day thou shalt go up to the house of the Lord,
[6]And I will addH3254[H8689] unto thy daysH3117 fifteenH2568[H6240] yearsH8141; and I will deliverH5337[H8686] thee and this cityH5892 out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804; and I will defendH1598[H8804] this cityH5892 for mine own sake, and for my servantH5650 David's sakeH1732. [6]And I will add unto thy days fifteen year, and will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and will defend this city for mine own sake, and for David my servant's sake.
[7]And IsaiahH3470 saidH559[H8799], TakeH3947[H8798] a lumpH1690 of figsH8384. And they tookH3947[H8799] and laidH7760[H8799] it on the boilH7822, and he recoveredH2421.[H8799] [7]Then Isaiah said, Take a lump of dry figs. And they took it, and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
[8]And HezekiahH2396 saidH559[H8799] unto IsaiahH3470, What shall be the signH226 that the LORDH3068 will healH7495[H8799] me, and that I shall go upH5927[H8804] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 the thirdH7992 dayH3117? [8]For Hezekiah had said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the Lord the third day?
[9]And IsaiahH3470 saidH559[H8799], This signH226 shalt thou have of the LORDH3068, that the LORDH3068 will doH6213[H8799] the thingH1697 that he hath spokenH1696[H8765]: shall the shadowH6738 go forwardH1980[H8804] tenH6235 degreesH4609, or go backH7725[H8799] tenH6235 degreesH4609? [9]And Isaiah answered, This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will do that he hath spoken, Wilt thou that the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
[10]And HezekiahH3169 answeredH559[H8799], It is a light thingH7043[H8738] for the shadowH6738 to go downH5186[H8800] tenH6235 degreesH4609: nay, but let the shadowH6738 returnH7725[H8799] backwardH322 tenH6235 degreesH4609. [10]And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to pass forward ten degrees: not so then, but let the shadow go back ten degrees.
[11]And IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 criedH7121[H8799] unto the LORDH3068: and he broughtH7725[H8686] the shadowH6738 tenH6235 degreesH4609 backwardH322, byH4609 which it had gone downH3381[H8804] in the dialH4609 of AhazH271. [11]And Isaiah the prophet called unto the Lord, and he brought again the shadow ten degrees back by the degrees whereby it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
[12]At that timeH6256 BerodachbaladanH1255, the sonH1121 of BaladanH1081, kingH4428 of BabylonH894, sentH7971[H8804] lettersH5612 and a presentH4503 unto HezekiahH2396: for he had heardH8085[H8804] that HezekiahH2396 had been sickH2470.[H8804] [12]The same season Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard how that Hezekiah was sick.
[13]And HezekiahH2396 hearkenedH8085[H8799] unto them, and shewedH7200[H8686] them all the houseH1004 of his precious thingsH5238, the silverH3701, and the goldH2091, and the spicesH1314, and the preciousH2896 ointmentH8081, and all the houseH1004 of his armourH3627, and all that was foundH4672[H8738] in his treasuresH214: there was nothingH1697 in his houseH1004, nor in all his dominionH4475, that HezekiahH2396 shewedH7200 them notH8689. [13]And Hezekiah heard them, and showed them all his treasure house, to wit, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, and in all his realm, that Hezekiah showed them not.
[14]Then cameH935[H8799] IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 unto kingH4428 HezekiahH2396, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, What saidH559[H8804] these menH582? and from whenceH370 cameH935[H8799] they unto thee? And HezekiahH2396 saidH559[H8799], They are comeH935[H8804] from a farH7350 countryH776, even from BabylonH894. [14]Then Isaiah the prophet came unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? And from whence came they to thee? And Hezekiah said, They be come from a far country , even from Babylon.
[15]And he saidH559[H8799], What have they seenH7200[H8804] in thine houseH1004? And HezekiahH2396 answeredH559[H8799], All the things that are in mine houseH1004 have they seenH7200[H8804]: there is nothingH1697 among my treasuresH214 that I have not shewedH7200 themH8689. [15]Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures, that I have not showed them.
[16]And IsaiahH3470 saidH559[H8799] unto HezekiahH2396, HearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068. [16]And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord.
[17]Behold, the daysH3117 comeH935[H8802], that all that is in thine houseH1004, and that which thy fathersH1 have laid up in storeH686[H8804] unto this dayH3117, shall be carriedH5375[H8738] into BabylonH894: nothingH1697 shall be leftH3498[H8735], saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068. [17]Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and whatsoever thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: Nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.
[18]And of thy sonsH1121 that shall issueH3318[H8799] from thee, which thou shalt begetH3205[H8686], shall they take awayH3947[H8799]; and they shall be eunuchsH5631 in the palaceH1964 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894. [18]And of thy sons, that shall proceed out of thee, and which thou shalt beget, shall they take away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
[19]Then saidH559[H8799] HezekiahH2396 unto IsaiahH3470, GoodH2896 is the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 which thou hast spokenH1696[H8765]. And he saidH559[H8799], Is it not good, if peaceH7965 and truthH571 be in my daysH3117? [19]Then Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, The word of the Lord which thou hast spoken, is good: for said he, Shall it not be good, if peace and truth be in my days?
[20]And the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of HezekiahH2396, and all his mightH1369, and how he madeH6213[H8804] a poolH1295, and a conduitH8585, and broughtH935[H8686] waterH4325 into the cityH5892, are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063? [20]Concerning the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his valiant deeds, and how he made a pool and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
[21]And HezekiahH2396 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1: and ManassehH4519 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. [21]And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
