[1]Manasse was twelue yeres old when he began to raigne, and raigned fyftie and fyue yeres in Hierusale: his mothers name also was Hephziba |
[1]A son of twelve years [is] Manasseh in his reigning, and fifty and five years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Hephzi-Bah; |
[2]And he did euil in the sight of the Lord, euen after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lorde cast out before the children of Israel |
[2]and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel, |
[3]For he went and buylt vp the hygh places whiche Hezekia his father had destroyed, and he reared vp aulters for Baal, and made idol groues as dyd Ahab king of Israel, and worshipped all the hoast of heauen, and serued them |
[3]and he turneth and buildeth the high places that Hezekiah his father destroyed, and raiseth altars for Baal, and maketh a shrine, as did Ahab king of Israel, and boweth himself to all the host of the heavens, and serveth them. |
[4]And he buylt aulters in the house of the Lord, of which the Lorde sayde: in Hierusalem will I put my name |
[4]And he hath built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah said, `In Jerusalem I put My name.' |
[5]And he buylt aulters for all the hoast of heauen, [euen] in two courtes of the house of the Lorde |
[5]And he buildeth altars to all the host of the heavens in the two courts of the house of Jehovah; |
[6]And he offred his owne sonne in fire, and gaue heede vnto witchcraft and sorcery, and mainteyned workers with spirites, and tellers of fortunes, and wrought much wickednesse in the sight of the Lorde to anger him |
[6]and he hath caused his son to pass through fire, and observed clouds, and used enchantment, and dealt with a familiar spirit and wizards; he hath multiplied to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah -- to provoke to anger. |
[7]And he put an image of a groue that he had made [euen] in the temple, of which the Lord had sayd to Dauid and Solomon his sonne: in this house and in Hierusalem which I haue chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for euer |
[7]And he setteth the graven image of the shrine that he made in the house of which Jehovah said unto David and unto Solomon his son, `In this house, and in Jerusalem, that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I put My name -- to the age; |
[8]Neither will I make the feete of Israel moue any more out of the lande which I gaue their fathers: so that they will obserue and do all that I haue commaunded them, and according to all the law that my seruaunt Moyses commaunded them |
[8]and I do not add to cause the foot of Israel to move from the ground that I gave to their fathers, only, if they observe to do according to all that I commanded them, and to all the law that My servant Moses commanded them.' |
[9]But they hearkened not: and Manasse led them out of the way, to do more wickedly then dyd the heathen people whom the Lorde destroyed before the children of Israel |
[9]And they have not hearkened, and Manasseh causeth them to err, to do the evil thing above the nations that Jehovah destroyed from the presence of the sons of Israel. |
[10]And the Lord spake by his seruauntes the prophetes, saying |
[10]And Jehovah speaketh by the hand of his servants the prophets, saying, |
[11]Because Manasse king of Iuda hath done such abhominations, and hath wrought more wickedly then all the Amorites whiche were before him dyd, and hath made Iuda sinne also with his idols |
[11]`Because that Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations -- he hath done evil above all that the Amorites have done who [are] before him, and causeth also Judah to sin by his idols; |
[12]Therfore thus sayth the Lord God of Israel: Behold, I will bring such euyll vpon Hierusalem and Iuda, that whoso heareth of it, both his cares shal tingle |
[12]therefore thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Lo, I am bringing in evil on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever heareth of it, tingle do his two ears. |
[13]And I will stretche ouer Hierusalem the squaryng line of Samaria, & the plummet of the house of Ahab: And I will wype out Hierusalem, as a man wypeth a dishe, and when he hath wyped it, turneth it vp syde downe |
[13]And I have stretched out over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and wiped Jerusalem as one wipeth the dish -- he hath wiped, and hath turned [it] on its face. |
[14]And I will leaue the remnaunt of myne inheritaunce, and deliuer them into the hand of their enemies, and they shalbe robbed and spoyled of all their aduersaries |
[14]`And I have left the remnant of Mine inheritance, and given them into the hand of their enemies, and they have been for a prey and for a spoil to all their enemies, |
[15]Euen because they haue done euyll in my sight, and haue angred me, sence the time their fathers came out of Egypt, vnto this day |
[15]because that they have done the evil thing in Mine eyes, and are provoking Me to anger from the day that their fathers came out of Egypt, even unto this day.' |
[16]And Manasse shed innocent blood exceeding much, till he replenished Hierusalem from corner to corner, besyde his sinne wherwith he made Iuda to sinne and to do euyll in the sight of the Lorde |
[16]And also, innocent blood hath Manasseh shed very much, till that he hath filled Jerusalem -- mouth to mouth; apart from his sin that he hath caused Judah to sin, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah. |
[17]The rest of the wordes that concerne Manasse, and all that he dyd, and his sinne that he sinned, are they not written in the booke of the cronicles of the kinges of Iuda |
[17]And the rest of the matters of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
[18]And Manasse slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his owne house, euen in the garde of Uzza, & Amon his sonne raigned in his steade |
[18]And Manasseh lieth with his fathers, and is buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza, and reign doth Amon his son in his stead. |
[19]Amon was twentie and two yeres olde when he began to raigne, and he raigned two yeres in Hierusalem: His mothers name also was Mesullemeth the daughter of Harus of Iotba |
[19]A son of twenty and two years [is] Amon in his reigning, and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Meshullemeth daughter of Haruz of Jotbah, |
[20]And he dyd euyll in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasse dyd |
[20]and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, as did Manasseh his father, |
[21]And walked in al the way that his father walked in, and serued the idols that his father serued, and worshipped them |
[21]and walketh in all the way that his father walked in, and serveth the idols that his father served, and boweth himself to them, |
[22]And he forsoke the Lord God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the Lorde |
[22]and forsaketh Jehovah, God of his fathers, and hath not walked in the way of Jehovah. |
[23]And the seruauntes of Amon conspired against hym, & slue the king in his owne house |
[23]And the servants of Amon conspire against him, and put the king to death in his own house, |
[24]And the people of the land slue al them that had conspired against king Amon, and the people made Iosia his sonne king in his steade |
[24]and the people of the land smite all those conspiring against king Amon, and the people of the land cause Josiah his son to reign in his stead. |
[25]The rest of the wordes that concerne Amon what thinges he dyd, are they not written in the booke of the cronicles of the kinges of Iuda |
[25]And the rest of the matters of Amon that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
[26]And they buryed him in his sepulchre in the garden of Uzza, & Iosia his sonne raigned in his steade |
[26]and [one] burieth him in his burying-place in the garden of Uzza, and reign doth Josiah his son in his stead. |
