|
[1]Naaman, prince of the chyualrye of the kyng of Syrie, was a greet man, and worschipid anentis his lord; for bi hym the Lord yaf helthe to Sirie; sotheli he was a strong man and riche, but leprouse. |
[1]Now NaamanH5283, captainH8269 of the hostH6635 of the kingH4428 of SyriaH758, was a greatH1419 manH376 withH6440 his masterH113, and honourableH5375[H8803], because by him the LORDH3068 had givenH5414[H8804] deliveranceH8668 unto SyriaH758: he was also a mightyH1368 manH376 in valourH2428, but he was a leperH6879.[H8794] |
[2]Forsothe theues yede out of Sirie, and ledden prisonere fro the lond of Israel a litil damysele, that was in the seruyce of the wijf of Naaman. |
[2]And the SyriansH758 had gone outH3318[H8804] by companiesH1416, and had brought away captiveH7617[H8799] out of the landH776 of IsraelH3478 a littleH6996 maidH5291; and she waited onH6440 Naaman'sH5283 wifeH802. |
[3]`Which damysele seide to hir ladi, `Y wolde, that my lord hadde be at the prophete which is in Samarie; sotheli the prophete schulde haue curid hym of the lepre which he hath. |
[3]And she saidH559[H8799] unto her mistressH1404, WouldH305 God my lordH113 were withH6440 the prophetH5030 that is in SamariaH8111! forH227 he would recoverH622[H8799] him of his leprosyH6883. |
[4]Therfor Naaman entride to his lord, and telde to hym, and seide, A damysel of the lond of Israel spak so and so. |
[4]And one went inH935[H8799], and toldH5046[H8686] his lordH113, sayingH559[H8800], Thus and thus saidH1696[H8765] the maidH5291 that is of the landH776 of IsraelH3478. |
[5]Therfor the kyng of Syrie seide to hym, Go thou, and Y schal sende lettris to the kyng of Israel. And whanne he hadde go forth, and hadde take with hym ten talentis of siluer, and sixe thousynde goldun platis, `ether floreyns, and ten chaungyngis of clothis, |
[5]And the kingH4428 of SyriaH758 saidH559[H8799], Go toH3212[H8798], goH935[H8798], and I will sendH7971[H8799] a letterH5612 unto the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478. And he departedH3212[H8799], and tookH3947[H8799] with himH3027 tenH6235 talentsH3603 of silverH3701, and sixH8337 thousandH505 pieces of goldH2091, and tenH6235 changesH2487 of raimentH899. |
[6]he brouyte lettris to the kyng of Israel bi these wordis; Whanne thou hast take this pistle, wite thou, that Y haue sent to thee Naaman, my seruaunt, that thou cure hym of his lepre. |
[6]And he broughtH935[H8686] the letterH5612 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559[H8800], Now when this letterH5612 is comeH935[H8800] unto thee, behold, I have therewith sentH7971[H8804] NaamanH5283 my servantH5650 to thee, that thou mayest recoverH622[H8804] him of his leprosyH6883. |
[7]And whanne the kyng of Israel hadde red the lettris, he to-rente his clothis, and seide, Whether Y am God, that may sle and quykene, for this kyng sente to me, that Y cure a man of his lepre? Perseyue ye, and se, that he sekith occasiouns ayens me. |
[7]And it came to pass, when the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 had readH7121[H8800] the letterH5612, that he rentH7167[H8799] his clothesH899, and saidH559[H8799], Am I GodH430, to killH4191[H8687] and to make aliveH2421[H8687], that this manH2088 doth sendH7971[H8802] unto me to recoverH622[H8800] a manH376 of his leprosyH6883? whereforeH389 considerH3045[H8798], I pray you, and seeH7200[H8798] how he seeketh a quarrelH579 against meH8693. |
[8]And whanne Elisee, the man of God, hadde herd this, that is, that the kyng of Israel hadde to-rente hise clothis, he sente to the kyng, and seide, Whi to-rentist thou thi clothis? come he to me, and wite he, that a prophete is in Israel. |
[8]And it was so, when ElishaH477 the manH376 of GodH430 had heardH8085[H8800] that the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 had rentH7167[H8804] his clothesH899, that he sentH7971[H8799] to the kingH4428, sayingH559[H8800], Wherefore hast thou rentH7167[H8804] thy clothesH899? let him comeH935[H8799] now to me, and he shall knowH3045[H8799] that there isH3426 a prophetH5030 in IsraelH3478. |
[9]Therfor Naaman cam with horsis and charis, and stood at the dore of the hows of Elisee. |
[9]So NaamanH5283 cameH935[H8799] with his horsesH5483 and with his chariotH7393, and stoodH5975[H8799] at the doorH6607 of the houseH1004 of ElishaH477. |
[10]And Elisee sente to hym a messanger, and seide, Go thou, and be thou waischun seuensithis in Jordan; and thi fleisch shal resseyue helthe, and thou schalt be clensid. |
[10]And ElishaH477 sentH7971[H8799] a messengerH4397 unto him, sayingH559[H8800], GoH1980[H8800] and washH7364[H8804] in JordanH3383 sevenH7651 timesH6471, and thy fleshH1320 shall come againH7725[H8799] to thee, and thou shalt be cleanH2891.[H8798] |
[11]Naaman was wrooth, and yede awei, and seide, Y gesside, that he schulde go out to me, and that he schulde stonde, and clepe the name of `the Lord his God, and that he schulde touche with his hond the place of lepre, and schulde cure me. |
[11]But NaamanH5283 was wrothH7107[H8799], and went awayH3212[H8799], and saidH559[H8799], Behold, I thoughtH559[H8804], He will surelyH3318[H8800] come outH3318[H8799] to me, and standH5975[H8804], and callH7121[H8804] on the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068 his GodH430, and strikeH5130[H8689] his handH3027 over the placeH4725, and recoverH622[H8804] the leperH6879.[H8794] |
[12]Whether Abana and Pharphar, floodis of Damask, ben not betere than alle the watris of Israel, that Y be waischun in tho, and be clensid? |
[12]Are not AbanaH71[H8676][H549] and PharparH6554, riversH5104 of DamascusH1834, betterH2896 than all the watersH4325 of IsraelH3478? may I not washH7364[H8799] in them, and be cleanH2891[H8804]? So he turnedH6437[H8799] and went awayH3212[H8799] in a rageH2534. |
[13]Therfor whanne he hadde turned hym silf, and yede awei, hauynge indignacioun, hise seruauntis neiyiden to hym, and spaken to hym, Fadir, thouy the prophete hadde seid to thee a greet thing, certis thou owist to do; hou myche more for now he seide to thee, Be thou waischun, and thou schalt be clensid. |
[13]And his servantsH5650 came nearH5066[H8799], and spakeH1696[H8762] unto him, and saidH559[H8799], My fatherH1, if the prophetH5030 had bidH1696[H8765] thee do some greatH1419 thingH1697, wouldest thou not have doneH6213[H8799] it? how much rather thenH637, when he saithH559[H8804] to thee, WashH7364[H8798], and be cleanH2891?[H8798] |
[14]He yede doun, and waischide hym seuensithis in Jordan, bi the word of the man of God; and his fleisch was restored as the fleisch of a litil child, and he was clensid. |
[14]Then went he downH3381[H8799], and dippedH2881[H8799] himself sevenH7651 timesH6471 in JordanH3383, according to the sayingH1697 of the manH376 of GodH430: and his fleshH1320 came againH7725[H8799] like unto the fleshH1320 of a littleH6996 childH5288, and he was cleanH2891.[H8799] |
[15]And he turnede ayen with al his felouschipe to the man of God, and cam, and stood bifor hym; and seide, Verili Y knowe, that noon other God is in al erthe, no but oneli God of Israel; therfor, Y biseche, that thou take blessyng of thi seruaunt. |
[15]And he returnedH7725[H8799] to the manH376 of GodH430, he and all his companyH4264, and cameH935[H8799], and stoodH5975[H8799] beforeH6440 him: and he saidH559[H8799], Behold, now I knowH3045[H8804] that there is no GodH430 in all the earthH776, but in IsraelH3478: now therefore, I pray thee, takeH3947[H8798] a blessingH1293 of thy servantH5650. |
[16]And he answeride, The Lord lyueth bifor whom Y stonde, for Y schal not take. And whanne he made `strengthe, that is, greet preier, Elisee assentide not outirli. |
[16]But he saidH559[H8799], As the LORDH3068 livethH2416, beforeH6440 whom I standH5975[H8804], I will receiveH3947[H8799] none. And he urgedH6484[H8799] him to takeH3947[H8800] it; but he refusedH3985.[H8762] |
[17]Therfor Naaman seide, As thou wolt; but, I biseche, graunte thou to me, thi seruaunt, that Y take of `the lond the birthun of twei burdones; for thi seruaunt schal no more make brent sacrifice, ether slayn sacrifice, to alien goddis, no but to the Lord. |
[17]And NaamanH5283 saidH559[H8799], Shall there not then, I pray thee, be givenH5414[H8714] to thy servantH5650 twoH6776 mules'H6505 burdenH4853 of earthH127? for thy servantH5650 will henceforth offerH6213[H8799] neither burnt offeringH5930 nor sacrificeH2077 unto otherH312 godsH430, but unto the LORDH3068. |
[18]Forsothe this thing is oneli, of which thou schalt preie the Lord for thi seruaunt, whanne my lord shal entre into the temple of Remmon, that he worschipe, and while he `schal lene on myn hond, if Y worschipe in the temple of Remmon, while he worschipith in the same place, that the Lord foryyue to thi seruaunt for this thing. |
[18]In this thingH1697 the LORDH3068 pardonH5545[H8799] thy servantH5650, that when my masterH113 goethH935[H8800] into the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417 to worshipH7812[H8692] there, and he leanethH8172[H8737] on my handH3027, and I bowH7812[H8694] myself in the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417: when I bow downH7812[H8692] myself in the houseH1004 of RimmonH7417, the LORDH3068 pardonH5545[H8799] thy servantH5650 in this thingH1697. |
[19]Which Elisee seide to hym, Go thou in pees. `Therfor he yede fro Elisee in a chosun tyme of the lond. |
[19]And he saidH559[H8799] unto him, GoH3212[H8798] in peaceH7965. So he departedH3212[H8799] from him a littleH3530 wayH776. |
[20]And Giezi, the child of the man of God, seide, My lord sparide this Naaman of Syrie, that he took not of hym that, that he brouyte; the Lord lyueth, for Y schal renne aftir hym, and Y schal take of hym sum thing. |
[20]But GehaziH1522, the servantH5288 of ElishaH477 the manH376 of GodH430, saidH559[H8799], Behold, my masterH113 hath sparedH2820[H8804] NaamanH5283 this SyrianH761, in not receivingH3947[H8800] at his handsH3027 that which he broughtH935[H8689]: but, as the LORDH3068 livethH2416, I will runH7323[H8804] afterH310 him, and takeH3947[H8804] somewhat of himH3972. |
[21]And Giezi suede aftir the bak of Naaman; and whanne Naaman hadde seyn Giezi rennynge to hym, he skippide doun of the chare in to the metyng of Giezi; and seide, Whether alle thingis ben riytfuli? |
[21]So GehaziH1522 followedH7291[H8799] afterH310 NaamanH5283. And when NaamanH5283 sawH7200[H8799] him runningH7323[H8801] afterH310 him, he lighted downH5307[H8799] from the chariotH4818 to meetH7125[H8800] him, and saidH559[H8799], Is all wellH7965? |
[22]And he seide, Riytfuli; my lord sente me to thee, and seide, Twey yonge men of the hille of Effraym, of the sones of prophetis, camen now to me; yyue thou to hem a talent of siluer, and double chaungyng clothis. |
[22]And he saidH559[H8799], All is wellH7965. My masterH113 hath sentH7971[H8804] me, sayingH559[H8800], Behold, even now there be comeH935[H8804] to me from mountH2022 EphraimH669 twoH8147 young menH5288 of the sonsH1121 of the prophetsH5030: giveH5414[H8798] them, I pray thee, a talentH3603 of silverH3701, and twoH8147 changesH2487 of garmentsH899. |
[23]And Naaman seide, It is betere that thou take twei talentis. And Naaman constreynede hym; and Naaman boond twei talentis of siluer in twei sackis, and double clothis, and puttide on his twey children, `that is, seruauntis, whiche also baren bifor Giezi. |
[23]And NaamanH5283 saidH559[H8799], Be contentH2974[H8685], takeH3947[H8798] two talentsH3603. And he urgedH6555[H8799] him, and boundH6696[H8799] twoH8147 talentsH3603 of silverH3701 in twoH8147 bagsH2754, with twoH8147 changesH2487 of garmentsH899, and laidH5414[H8799] them upon twoH8147 of his servantsH5288; and they bareH5375[H8799] them before himH6440. |
[24]And whanne he hadde come thanne in the euentid, he took fro the hond of hem, and leide vp in the hows; and he delyuerede the men, and thei yeden. |
[24]And when he cameH935[H8799] to the towerH6076, he tookH3947[H8799] them from their handH3027, and bestowedH6485[H8799] them in the houseH1004: and he let the menH582 goH7971[H8762], and they departedH3212.[H8799] |
[25]Forsothe Giezi entride, and stood bifor his lord. And Elise seide, Giezi, fro whennus comest thou? Which answeride, Thi seruaunt yede not to ony place. |
[25]But he went inH935[H8802], and stoodH5975[H8799] before his masterH113. And ElishaH477 saidH559[H8799] unto him, WhenceH370 comest thou, GehaziH1522? And he saidH559[H8799], Thy servantH5650 wentH1980[H8804] no whitherH575. |
[26]And Elise seide, Whether myn herte was not in present, whanne the man turnede ayen fro his chare in to the metyng of thee? Now therfor thou hast take siluer, and thou hast take clothis, that thou bie places of olyues, and vyneris, and scheep, and oxis, and seruauntis, and handmaydis; |
[26]And he saidH559[H8799] unto him, WentH1980[H8804] not mine heartH3820 with thee, when the manH376 turnedH2015[H8804] again from his chariotH4818 to meetH7125[H8800] thee? Is it a timeH6256 to receiveH3947[H8800] moneyH3701, and to receiveH3947[H8800] garmentsH899, and oliveyardsH2132, and vineyardsH3754, and sheepH6629, and oxenH1241, and menservantsH5650, and maidservantsH8198? |
[27]but also the lepre of Naaman schal cleue to thee, and to thi seed withouten ende. And Giezi yede leprouse as snow, `fro hym. |
[27]The leprosyH6883 therefore of NaamanH5283 shall cleaveH1692[H8799] unto thee, and unto thy seedH2233 for everH5769. And he went outH3318[H8799] from his presenceH6440 a leperH6879[H8794] as white as snowH7950. |
