| [1]כתבא קדמיא כתבת או תאופילא על כלהינ אילינ דשׁרי מרנ ישׁוע משׁיחא למעבד ולמלפו |
[1]I have made the former treatise, O Theophilus, of all that JESUS began to do, and teach, |
| [2]עדמא ליומא הו דבה אסתלק מנ בתר דפקד הוא אנונ לשׁליחא אילינ דגבא ברוחא דקודשׁא |
[2]Until the day, that he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the Apostles, whom he had chosen: |
| [3]הנונ דאפ חוי להונ נפשׁה כד חי מנ בתר דחשׁ באתותא סגיאתא ביומינ ארבעינ כד מתחזא הוא להונ ואמר על מלכותא דאלהא |
[3]To whom also he presented himself alive after that he had suffered, by many infallible tokens, being seen of them by the space of forty days, and speaking of those things which appertain to the kingdom of God. |
| [4]וכד אכל עמהונ לחמא פקד אנונ דמנ אורשׁלמ לא נפרקונ אלא דנקוונ לשׁוודיה דאבא הו דשׁמעתונ מני |
[4]And when he had gathered them together, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which said he, ye have heard of me. |
| [5]דיוחננ אעמד במיא ואנתונ תעמדונ ברוחא דקודשׁא לא בתר יומתא סגיאא |
[5]For John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost within these few days. |
| [6]הנונ דינ כד כנישׁינ שׁאלוהי ואמרינ לה מרנ אנ בהנא זבנא מפנא אנת מלכותא ליסריל |
[6]When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? |
| [7]אמר להונ הו לא הות דילכונ הדא למדע זבנא או זבנא אילינ דאבא סמ אנונ בשׁולטנא דנפשׁה |
[7]And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times, or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power, |
| [8]אלא כד תאתא רוחא דקודשׁא עליכונ תקבלונ חילא ותהוונ לי סהדא באורשׁלמ ובכלה יהוד ואפ בית שׁמריא ועדמא לסופיה דארעא |
[8]But ye shall receive power of the Holy Ghost, when he shall come on you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. |
| [9]וכד הלינ אמר כד חזינ לה אסתלק ועננא קבלתה ואתכסי מנ עיניהונ |
[9]And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up: for a cloud took him up out of their sight. |
| [10]וכד חירינ הוו בשׁמיא כד הו אזל הוא אשׁתכחו תרינ גברינ קימינ לותהונ בלבושׁא חורא |
[10]And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, |
| [11]ואמרינ להונ גברא גליליא מנא קימינ אנתונ וחירינ בשׁמיא הנא ישׁוע דאסתלק מנכונ לשׁמיא הכנא נאתא איכ מא דחזיתוניהי דסלק לשׁמיא |
[11]Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing into heaven? This Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come, as ye have seen him go into heaven. |
| [12]ומנ בתרכנ הפכו להונ לאורשׁלמ מנ טורא דמתקרא דבית זיתא דאיתוהי על גנב אורשׁלמ ופריק מנה איכ שׁבעא אסטדונ |
[12] Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount that is called the Mount of Olives, which is near to Jerusalem, containing a Sabbath day's journey. |
| [13]ומנ בתר דעלו סלקו להונ לעליתא הי דהוינ הוו בה פטרוס ויוחננ ויעקוב ואנדראוס ופיליפוס ותאומא ומתי ובר-תולמי ויעקוב בר חלפי ושׁמעונ טננא ויהודא בר יעקוב |
[13]And when they were come in, they went up into an upper chamber, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholemew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas, James' brother. |
| [14]הלינ כלהונ אכחדא אמינינ הוו בצלותא בחדא נפשׁ עמ נשׁא ועמ מרימ אמה דישׁוע ועמ אחוהי |
[14]These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. |
| [15]ובהונ ביומתא הנונ קמ שׁמעונ כאפא מצעת תלמידא אית הוא דינ תמנ כנשׁא דאנשׁא איכ מאא ועסרינ ואמר |
[15] And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said (now the number of names that were in one place, were about an hundred and twenty.) |
| [16]גברא אחינ זדק הוא דנתמלא כתבא אינא דקדמ אמר רוחא דקודשׁא בפומה דדויד על יהודא הו דהוא מדברנא להנונ דאחדו לישׁוע |
[16]Ye men and brethren, this Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before of Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. |
| [17]מטל דמנא הוא עמנ ואית הוא לה פסא בתשׁמשׁתא הדא |
[17]For he was numbered with us, and had obtained fellowship in this ministration. |
| [18]הו דקנא לה קריתא מנ אגרא דחטיתא ונפל על אפוהי על ארעא ואתפרת מנ מצעתה ואתאשׁד כלה גויה |
[18]He therefore hath purchased a field with the reward of iniquity: and when he had thrown down himself headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. |
| [19]והי הדא אתידעת לכלהונ דעמרינ באורשׁלמ והכנא אתקרית קריתא הי בלשׁנה דאתרא חקל דמא דאיתוהי תורגמה קורית דמ |
[19]And it is known unto all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, in so much, that that field is called in their own language, Aceldama, that is, The field of blood. |
| [20]כתיב גיר בספרא דמזמורא דדירה תהוא חרבא ועמור לא נהוא בה ותשׁמשׁתה נסב אחרינ |
[20]For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be void, and let no man dwell therein: also, Let another take his charge. |
| [21]וליא הי הכיל לחד מנ הלינ גברא דהוו עמנ בהנא זבנא כלה דבה על ונפק עלינ מרנ ישׁוע |
[21]Wherefore, of these men which have companied with us, all the time that the Lord Jesus was conversant among us, |
| [22]דאקפ מנ מעמודיתה דיוחננ עדמא ליומא דאסתלק מנ לותנ דהו נהוא עמנ סהדא דקימתה |
[22]Beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was taken up from us, must one of them be made a witness with us of his resurrection. |
| [23]ואקימו תרינ ליוספ דמתקרא ברשׁבא דאשׁתמי יוסטוס ולמתיא |
[23]And they presented two, Joseph called Barsabas, whose surname was Justus, and Matthias. |
| [24]וכד צליו אמרו אנת מריא ידע דבלבותא דכל חוא חד אינא דגבא אנת מנ הלינ תריהונ |
[24]And they prayed, saying, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, show whether of these two thou hast chosen, |
| [25]דהו נקבל פסא דתשׁמשׁתא ושׁליחותא דמנה פרק יהודא דנאזל לה לאתרה |
[25]That he may take the room of this ministration and Apostleship, from which Judas hath gone astray, to go to his own place. |
| [26]וארמיו פצא וסלקת למתיא ואתמני עמ חדעסר שׁליחא |
[26]Then they gave forth their lots: and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was by a common consent counted with the Eleven Apostles |
