[1]AND while they spake these words to the people, the priests, and Zadukoyee, and the governors of the temple, arose against them, |
[1]And as they spake vnto ye people, the priestes & the ruler of the temple, and the saducees, came vpon them |
[2]Being angered against them because they taught the people, and preached through the Meshiha the resurrection from the dead. |
[2]Takyng it greuously that they taught the people, and preached in Iesus the resurrection from the dead |
[3]And they laid upon them hands, and kept them unto the day after, because the evening had drawn nigh. |
[3]And they layde handes on them, and put them in holde, vntyll the next day: for it was nowe euentyde |
[4]And many who heard the word believed; and they were in number as five thousand men. |
[4]Howbeit, many of them which hearde the worde, beleued: and the number of the men was about fyue thousande |
[5]And the day after, the rulers, and elders, and sophree, assembled, |
[5]And it came to passe on the morowe, that their rulers, and elders, & scribes |
[6]And also Hanan chief of the priests, and Kaiapha, and Juhanon, and Alexandros, and they who were of the race of the chief priests. |
[6]And Annas the chiefe priest, and Caiaphas, and Iohn, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kynrede of the hye priestes, were gathered together at Hierusalem |
[7]And when they had made them stand in the midst, they questioned them, By what power, or in what name, have you done this? |
[7]And when they had set them before them, they asked: by what power, or in what name haue ye done this |
[8]Then Shemun Kipha was filled with the Spirit of Holiness, and said to them, Rulers of the people, and elders of the house of Israel, hear: |
[8]Then Peter, full of the holy ghost, sayde vnto them: Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel |
[9]If we this day are judged of you concerning the good which has been done to the infirm man, insomuch that he is cured; |
[9]If we this day be examined of the good deede done to the sicke man, by what meanes he is made whole |
[10]Be this known to you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jeshu Meshiha Natsroya, whom you crucified, whom Aloha hath raised from among the dead, through this Himself, behold, this [man] standeth before you well. |
[10]Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Iesus Christe of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raysed agayne from the dead: euen by hym doth this man stande here before you whole |
[11]This is the stone which you builders rejected, and he is become the head of the corner. |
[11]This is the stone which was cast asyde of you buylders, which is the head of the corner |
[12]And in no other oneⓘ is redemption: for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind, by which we must be saved. |
[12]Neither is there saluation in any other. For among men vnder heauen, there is geuen none other name, wherin we must be saued |
[13]And when they heard the words of Shemun and of Juhanon, which they had confidently spoken, they perceived that they knew not literature and were common-men,ⓘ and wondered at them; and they recognised them, that with Jeshu they had been conversant. |
[13]Nowe when they sawe the boldnesse of Peter and Iohn, and vnderstoode that they were vnlearned and lay men, they marueyled, and they knewe them that they had ben with Iesu |
[14]And they saw that the lame man who had been healed was standing with them, and they could not say any thing against them. |
[14]And beholdyng also the man which was healed, standyng with them, they coulde not say agaynst it |
[15]Then they commanded that they should lead them from their assembly, and said one to another, |
[15]But commaundyng them to go asyde out of the counsel, and counseled among them selues |
[16]What shall we do with these men? For, behold, a conspicuous sign which hath been done by their hands to all the inhabitants of Urishlem is known, and we cannot deny. |
[16]Saying: What shall we do to these men? For a manifest signe is done by them, and is openly knowen to all them that dwell in Hierusalem, and we can not denie it |
[17]But that this report may not go forth more, [widely] we will threaten them that again they shall not speak in This Name to any man.ⓘ |
[17]But that it be noysed no farther among the people, let vs threaten and charge them that they speake hencefoorth to no man in this name |
[18]And they called them, and commanded them that not at all they should speak and teach in the name of Jeshu. |
[18]And they called them, and commaunded them, that in no wyse they shoulde speake, nor teache in the name of Iesu |
[19]SHEMUN KIPHA and Juhanon answered and said to them, If it be right before Aloha that you we obey rather than Aloha, judge you. |
[19]But Peter and Iohn aunswered, and sayde vnto them: Whether it be ryght in the syght of God, to hearken vnto you more then to God, iudge ye |
[20]For what we have seen and heard we cannot but speak. |
[20]For we cannot but speake that, which we haue seene and hearde |
[21]And they threatened them, and dismissed them; for they could not find cause to lay [a penalty] upon their head,ⓘ because of the people; for every one glorified Aloha for that which had been done. |
[21]So threatned they them, and let them go, and founde nothyng how to punishe them, because of the people: For all men praysed God, because of that which was done |
[22]For a son of more than forty years was that man in whom had been wrought this sign of healing. |
[22]For the man was about fourtie yere olde, on whom this miracle of healyng was shewed |
[23]And when they were dismissed they came to their brethren, and made known to them whatever the priests and elders had said. |
[23]Then assoone as they were let go, they came to their felowes, and shewed all that the hye priestes and elders had sayde vnto them |
[24]And they, when they had heard, with one accord lifted up their voice unto Aloha, and said, Lord, thou art God who hast made heaven and earth and the seas, and all that is in them: |
[24]And when they hearde that, they lyft vp their voyces to God with one accorde, and sayde: Lorde, thou art God, which hast made heauen and earth, the sea, and all that in them is |
[25]And thou art he who hast spoken by the Spirit of Holiness in the mouth of David thy servant: Why rage the Heathen, and the peoples imagine vanity? |
[25]Which by the mouth of thy seruaunt Dauid, hast sayde: Why dyd the Heathen rage, & the people imagine vayne thynges |
[26]The kings and powers of the earth arise and counsel together against the Lord, and against his Meshiha. |
[26]The kynges of the earth stoode vp, and the rulers came together, agaynst the Lorde, and agaynst his Christe |
[27]For verily they are assembled in this city against thy holy Son Jeshu, whom thou hast anointed,—Herodes and Pilatos with the Gentiles and the synagogue of Israel, |
[27]And of a trueth, agaynst thy holye chylde Iesus, who thou hast anoynted, both Herode and also Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, gathered them selues together |
[28]—to work whatsoever thy hand and thy will have signified before should be done. |
[28]For to do whatsoeuer thy hande & thy counsel determined before to be done |
[29]And now also, Lord, behold and see their threatenings, and give unto thy servants with boldness to preach thy word, |
[29]And nowe Lorde, beholde their threatnynges, & graunt vnto thy seruauntes, that with all boldensse they may speake thy worde |
[30]While thy hand thou outstretchest unto healings and mighty works which they shall do in the name of thy holy Son Jeshu. |
[30]So that thou stretch foorth thyne hande, that healyng, and signes, and wonders, be done by the name of thy holy chylde Iesus |
[31]And as they prayed and supplicated, the place in which they were assembled was moved, and they were all filled with the Spirit of Holiness, and they spake with openness the word of Aloha. |
[31]And assoone as they had prayed, the place moued where they were assembled together, and they were all fylled with the holy ghost, and they spake the worde of God boldely |
[32]BUT to the assembly of the men who believed there was one soul and one mind; and no man of them said of the goods which he possessed that they were his own, but all whatever they had was in common. |
[32]And the multitude of them that beleued, were of one heart, and of one soule: Neither sayde any of them, that ought of ye thynges which he possessed, was his owne: but they had all thinges common |
[33]And with great power did those apostles testify concerning the resurrection of Jeshu Meshiha, and great grace was with all of them. |
[33]And with great power gaue the Apostles witnesse of the resurrection of the Lorde Iesu: And great grace was with them all |
[34]And no man of them had want; for they who possessed fields and houses sold, [them] and brought the prices of whatever was sold |
[34]Neither was there any among them, that lacked: For as many as were possessers of landes, or houses, solde them, & brought the price of the thynges that were solde |
[35]And laid at the feet of the apostles, and there was given to each according to that which was needed. |
[35]And layed it downe at the Apostles feete: And distribution was made vnto euery man, accordyng as he had neede |
[36]But Jauseph, who was entitled Bar Naba by the apostles, which is interpreted, A son of consolation, a Levoya from the Isle of Kypros, |
[36]And Ioses, which was also called of the Apostles Barnabas (that is to say) the sonne of consolation, being a Leuite, and of the countrey of Cypers |
[37]Had a field, and he sold it, and brought its price and laid before the feet of the apostles. |
[37]When he had lande, solde it, and layde the money downe at the Apostles feete |
