Young's Literal Translation
YLT
[1]In the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539 a thingH1697 was revealedH1540[H8738] unto DanielH1840, whose nameH8034 was calledH7121[H8738] BelteshazzarH1095; and the thingH1697 was trueH571, but the time appointedH6635 was longH1419: and he understoodH995[H8804] the thingH1697, and had understandingH998 of the visionH4758. [1]In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing is revealed to Daniel, whose name is called Belteshazzar, and the thing [is] true, and the warfare [is] great: and he hath understood the thing, and hath understanding about the appearance.
[2]In those daysH3117 I DanielH1840 was mourningH56[H8693] threeH7969 fullH3117 weeksH7620. [2]`In those days, I, Daniel, have been mourning three weeks of days;
[3]I ateH398[H8804] no pleasantH2532 breadH3899, neither cameH935[H8804] fleshH1320 nor wineH3196 in my mouthH6310, neither did I anointH5480[H8804] myself at allH5480[H8800], till threeH7969 wholeH3117 weeksH7620 were fulfilledH4390.[H8800] [3]desirable bread I have not eaten, and flesh and wine hath not come in unto my mouth, and I have not anointed myself at all, till the completion of three weeks of days.
[4]And in the fourH702 and twentiethH6242 dayH3117 of the firstH7223 monthH2320, as I was by the sideH3027 of the greatH1419 riverH5104, which is HiddekelH2313; [4]`And in the twenty and fourth day of the first month, I have been by the side of the great river, that [is] Hiddekel:
[5]Then I lifted upH5375[H8799] mine eyesH5869, and lookedH7200[H8799], and behold a certainH259 manH376 clothedH3847[H8803] in linenH906, whose loinsH4975 were girdedH2296[H8803] with fine goldH3800 of UphazH210: [5]and I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, a certain one clothed in linen, and his loins girt with pure gold of Uphaz,
[6]His bodyH1472 also was like the berylH8658, and his faceH6440 as the appearanceH4758 of lightningH1300, and his eyesH5869 as lampsH3940 of fireH784, and his armsH2220 and his feetH4772 like in colourH5869 to polishedH7044 brassH5178, and the voiceH6963 of his wordsH1697 like the voiceH6963 of a multitudeH1995. [6]and his body as a beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet as the aspect of bright brass, and the voice of his words as the voice of a multitude.
[7]And I DanielH1840 alone sawH7200[H8804] the visionH4759: for the menH582 that were with me sawH7200[H8804] not the visionH4759; butH61 a greatH1419 quakingH2731 fellH5307[H8804] upon them, so that they fledH1272[H8799] to hideH2244 themselvesH8736. [7]`And I have seen -- I, Daniel, by myself -- the appearance: and the men who have been with me have not seen the appearance, but a great trembling hath fallen on them, and they flee to be hidden;
[8]Therefore I was left aloneH7604[H8738], and sawH7200[H8799] this greatH1419 visionH4759, and there remainedH7604[H8738] no strengthH3581 in me: for my comelinessH1935 was turnedH2015[H8738] in me into corruptionH4889, and I retainedH6113[H8804] no strengthH3581. [8]and I have been left by myself, and I see this great appearance, and there hath been no power left in me, and my honour hath been turned in me to corruption, yea, I have not retained power.
[9]Yet heardH8085[H8799] I the voiceH6963 of his wordsH1697: and when I heardH8085[H8800] the voiceH6963 of his wordsH1697, then was I in a deep sleepH7290[H8737] on my faceH6440, and my faceH6440 toward the groundH776. [9]`And I hear the voice of his words, and when I hear the voice of his words, then I have been in a trance on my face, and my face [is] to the earth;
[10]And, behold, an handH3027 touchedH5060[H8804] me, which setH5128[H8686] me upon my kneesH1290 and upon the palmsH3709 of my handsH3027. [10]and lo, a hand hath come against me, and shaketh me on my knees and the palms of my hands.
[11]And he saidH559[H8799] unto me, O DanielH1840, a manH376 greatly belovedH2532, understandH995[H8685] the wordsH1697 that I speakH1696[H8802] unto thee, and standH5975[H8798] uprightH5977: for unto thee am I now sentH7971[H8795]. And when he had spokenH1696[H8763] this wordH1697 unto me, I stoodH5975[H8804] tremblingH7460.[H8688] [11]`And he saith unto me: Daniel, man greatly desired, attend to the words that I am speaking unto thee, and stand on thy station, for now I have been sent unto thee. `And when he speaketh with me this word, I have stood trembling.
[12]Then saidH559[H8799] he unto me, FearH3372[H8799] not, DanielH1840: for from the firstH7223 dayH3117 that thou didst setH5414[H8804] thine heartH3820 to understandH995[H8687], and to chastenH6031[H8692] thyself beforeH6440 thy GodH430, thy wordsH1697 were heardH8085[H8738], and I am comeH935[H8804] for thy wordsH1697. [12]And he saith unto me: Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst give thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words have been heard, and I have come because of thy words.
[13]But the princeH8269 of the kingdomH4438 of PersiaH6539 withstoodH5975[H8802] me oneH259 and twentyH6242 daysH3117: but, lo, MichaelH4317, oneH259 of the chiefH7223 princesH8269, cameH935[H8804] to helpH5826[H8800] me; and I remainedH3498[H8738] there withH681 the kingsH4428 of PersiaH6539. [13]`And the head of the kingdom of Persia is standing over-against me twenty and one days, and lo, Michael, first of the chief heads, hath come in to help me, and I have remained there near the kings of Persia;
[14]Now I am comeH935[H8804] to make thee understandH995[H8687] what shall befallH7136[H8799] thy peopleH5971 in the latterH319 daysH3117: for yet the visionH2377 is for many daysH3117. [14]and I have come to cause thee to understand that which doth happen to thy people in the latter end of the days, for yet the vision [is] after days.
[15]And when he had spokenH1696[H8763] such wordsH1697 unto me, I setH5414[H8804] my faceH6440 toward the groundH776, and I became dumbH481.[H8738] [15]`And when he speaketh with me about these things, I have set my face toward the earth, and have been silent;
[16]And, behold, one like the similitudeH1823 of the sonsH1121 of menH120 touchedH5060[H8802] my lipsH8193: then I openedH6605[H8799] my mouthH6310, and spakeH1696[H8762], and saidH559[H8799] unto him that stoodH5975[H8802] before me, O my lordH113, by the visionH4759 my sorrowsH6735 are turnedH2015[H8738] upon me, and I have retainedH6113[H8804] no strengthH3581. [16]and lo, as the manner of the sons of men, he is striking against my lips, and I open my mouth, and I speak, and say unto him who is standing over-against me: My lord, by the appearance turned have been my pangs against me, and I have retained no power.
[17]For howH1963 canH3201[H8799] the servantH5650 of this my lordH113 talkH1696[H8763] with this my lordH113? for as for me, straightwayH6258 there remainedH5975[H8799] no strengthH3581 in me, neither is there breathH5397 leftH7604 in meH8738. [17]And how is the servant of this my lord able to speak with this my lord? as for me, henceforth there remaineth in me no power, yea, breath hath not been left in me.
[18]Then there came againH3254[H8686] and touchedH5060[H8799] me one like the appearanceH4758 of a manH120, and he strengthenedH2388 meH8762, [18]`And he addeth, and striketh against me, as the appearance of a man, and strengtheneth me,
[19]And saidH559[H8799], O manH376 greatly belovedH2532, fearH3372[H8799] not: peaceH7965 be unto thee, be strongH2388[H8798], yea, be strongH2388[H8798]. And when he had spokenH1696[H8763] unto me, I was strengthenedH2388[H8694], and saidH559[H8799], Let my lordH113 speakH1696[H8762]; for thou hast strengthenedH2388 meH8765. [19]and he saith: Do not fear, O man greatly desired, peace to thee, be strong, yea, be strong; and when he speaketh with me, I have strengthened myself, and I say, Let my lord speak, for thou hast strengthened me.
[20]Then saidH559[H8799] he, KnowestH3045[H8804] thou wherefore I comeH935[H8804] unto thee? and now will I returnH7725[H8799] to fightH3898[H8736] with the princeH8269 of PersiaH6539: and when I am gone forthH3318[H8802], lo, the princeH8269 of GreciaH3120 shall comeH935.[H8804] [20]And he saith, Hast thou known why I have come unto thee? and now I turn back to fight with the head of Persia; yea, I am going forth, and lo, the head of Javan hath come;
[21]ButH61 I will shewH5046[H8686] thee that which is notedH7559[H8803] in the scriptureH3791 of truthH571: and there is noneH259 that holdethH2388[H8693] with me in these things, but MichaelH4317 your princeH8269. [21]but I declare to thee that which is noted down in the Writing of Truth, and there is not one strengthening himself with me, concerning these, except Michael your head.
