| [1]THEREFORE you shall love the LORD your God, and keep his precepts, his statutes, his judgments, and his commandments, always. |
[1]Therefore thou shalt love the Lord thy God, and shalt keep that, which he commandeth to be kept: that is, his ordinances, and his laws, and his commandments alway. |
| [2]And know this day that I do not speak to your children who have not known and who have not seen the discipline of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his outstretched arm, |
[2]And consider this day ( for I speak not to your children, which have neither known nor seen) the chastisement of the Lord your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm, |
| [3]And his signs, and his deeds, which he did in Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land; |
[3]And his signs, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt and unto all his land: |
| [4]And what he did to the army of the Egyptians, to their horses and to their chariots and to their horsemen; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD has destroyed them to this day; |
[4]And what he did unto the host of the Egyptians, unto their horses, and to their chariots, when he caused the waters of the Red Sea to overflow them, as they pursued after you, and the Lord destroyed them unto this day: |
| [5]And what he did to you in the wilderness, until you came into this place; |
[5]And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came unto this place: |
| [6]And what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, and their children and their tents and everything which they had, as they stood on their feet in the midst of all Israel; |
[6]And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the son of Reuben, when the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them with their households and their tents, and all their substance that they had in the midst of all Israel. |
| [7]But it is your eyes that have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did |
[7]For your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord which he did. |
| [8]Therefore you shall keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that you may be strong and go in and possess the land which you are going over to possess; |
[8]Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments, which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land whither ye go to possess it: |
| [9]And that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give to them and to their descendants, a land that flows with milk and honey. |
[9]Also that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the Lord swear unto your fathers, to give unto them and to their seed, even a land that floweth with milk and honey. |
| [10]For the land into which you are entering to possess it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your feet, like a vegetable garden; |
[10]For the land whither thou goest to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came, where thou sowest thy seed, and waterest it with thy feet as a garden of herbs: |
| [11]But the land which you are going over to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, that drinks water of the rain from heaven; |
[11]But the land whither ye go to possess it, is a land of mountains and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven. |
| [12]A land which the LORD your God cares for always; the eyes of the LORD your God are upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. |
[12]This land doth the Lord thy God care for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year, even unto the end of the year. |
| [13]And if you shall hearken diligently to the commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, |
[13]If ye shall hearken therefore unto my commandments, which I command you this day, that ye love the Lord your God and serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul, |
| [14]He will give you the rain of your land in its due season, the early rain and the latter rain, and you shall gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. |
[14]I also will give rain unto your land in due time, the first rain and the latter, that thou mayest gather in thy wheat, and thy wine, and thine oil. |
| [15]And he will make grass to grow in your fields for your cattle, that you shall eat and be full. |
[15]Also I will send grass in thy fields, for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat, and have enough. |
| [16]Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be enticed, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; |
[16]But beware lest your heart deceive you, and lest ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them, |
| [17]And then the LORD'S anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain and that the land may not produce its fruit, and that you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD your God gives you |
[17]And so the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that your land yield not her fruit, and ye perish quickly from the good land, which the Lord giveth you. |
| [18]Therefore you shall lay up these commandments in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hands, that they may be a token between your eyes. |
[18]Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as a frontlet between your eyes, |
| [19]And you shall teach them to your children, that they may talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. |
[19]And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them, when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. |
| [20]And you shall write them on the doorposts of your houses, and upon your gates; |
[20]And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thine house, and upon thy gates, |
| [21]That your days and the days of your children, may be multiplied in the land which the LORD your God swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon earth. |
[21]That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord swear unto your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth. |
| [22]For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you this day, and do them, and love the LORD your God, and walk in all his ways, and cleave to him; |
[22]For if ye keep diligently all these commandments, which I command you to do: that is, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him, |
| [23]Then the LORD will destroy all these nations from before you, and you shall possess nations greater and mightier than yourselves. |
[23]Then will the Lord cast out all these nations before you, and ye shall possess great nations and mightier than you. |
| [24]Every place whereon the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the great river Euphrates, to the uttermost sea shall your territory be. |
[24]All the places whereon the soles of your feet shall tread, shall be yours: your coast shall be from the wilderness and from Lebanon, and from the river, even the river Perath, unto the uttermost sea. |
| [25]There shall no man be able to stand before you; for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that you shall tread, as he has said to you |
[25]No man shall stand against you: for the Lord your God shall cast the fear and dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you. |
| [26]Behold, I set before you this day blessings and curses; |
[26]Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: |
| [27]Blessings, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I am commanding you this day: |
[27]The blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day: |
| [28]And curses, if you will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, and if you turn aside from the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which you have not known. |
[28]And the curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn out of the way, which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known. |
| [29]And it shall come to pass, when the LORD your God has brought you into the land whither you are entering to possess it, you shall put the blessings upon mount Gerizim, and the curses upon mount Gebel. |
[29]When the Lord thy God therefore hath brought thee into the land, whither thou goest to possess it, then thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal. |
| [30]Behold, they are on the other side of the Jordan, behind the way, toward the setting of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites, who dwell in the low desert over against Gilgal, towards the house of the oak of Mamre. |
[30]Are they not beyond Jordan on that part, where the sun goeth down in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the plain over against Gilgal, beside the grove of Moreh? |
| [31]For you are to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell therein. |
[31]For ye shall pass over Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein. |
| [32]And you shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day |
[32]Take heed therefore that ye do all the commandments and the laws, which I set before you this day. |
