| [1]האזינו השמים ואדברה ותשמע הארץ אמרי פי |
[1]GIVE ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth. |
| [2]יערף כמטר לקחי תזל כטל אמרתי כשעירם עלי דשא וכרביבים עלי עשב |
[2]My word shall drop as rain, my speech shall fall as dew, as the gentle wind upon the tender herbs, and as the showers upon the grass; |
| [3]כי שם יהוה אקרא הבו גדל לאלהינו |
[3]For I will call upon the name of the LORD; ascribe majesty to our God, the Mighty One. |
| [4]הצור תמים פעלו כי כל דרכיו משפט אל אמונה ואין עול צדיק וישר הוא |
[4]For his works are perfect; and all his ways are just; he is a faithful God and without iniquity, just and upright is he. |
| [5]שחת לו לא בניו מומם דור עקש ופתלתל |
[5]They have corrupted themselves, and they are not his children because of blemish; they are a perverse and crooked generation. |
| [6]ה ליהוה תגמלו זאת־ עם נבל ולא חכם הלוא הוא אביך קנך הוא עשך ויכננך |
[6]Are these the things that you return unto the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your father who has redeemed you? Has he not made you and established you |
| [7]זכר ימות עולם בינו שנות דר ודר שאל אביך ויגדך זקניך ויאמרו לך |
[7]Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations; ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you. |
| [8]בהנחל עליון גוים בהפרידו בני אדם יצב גבלת עמים למספר בני ישראל |
[8]When the Most High divided the nations, when he separated mankind, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. |
| [9]כי חלק יהוה עמו יעקב חבל נחלתו |
[9]For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. |
| [10]ימצאהו בארץ מדבר ובתהו ילל ישמן יסבבנהו יבוננהו־ יצרנהו כאישון עינו |
[10]He found him in a desert land, and in the waste and howling wilderness; he made him to settle down, he loved him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. |
| [11]כנשר יעיר קנו על גוזליו ירחף יפרש כנפיו יקחהו ישאהו על אברתו |
[11]As an eagle encircles his nest, fluttering over his young, spreading out its wings, taking them, bearing them on the strength of his wings; |
| [12]יהוה בדד ינחנו ואין עמו אל נכר |
[12]So the LORD alone did lead Israel, and there was no strange god with him. |
| [13]ירכבהו על במותי [Q: במתי] ארץ ויאכל תנובת שדי וינקהו דבש מסלע ושמן מחלמיש צור |
[13]He made him to dwell in a fertile land, and fed him with the produce of the field; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock and oil out of the flinty rock; |
| [14]חמאת בקר וחלב צאן עם חלב כרים ואילים בני בשן ועתודים עם חלב כליות חטה ודם ענב תשתה חמר |
[14]And gave him butter of cows and milk of sheep, with fat of fatlings and rams of the breed of rock-goats and goats, with the fat and the best wheat; and he gave him wine to drink, and of the juices of grapes |
| [15]וישמן ישרון ויבעט שמנת עבית כשית ויטש אלוה עשהו וינבל צור ישעתו |
[15]And Israel grew fat and kicked; he became rich and mighty, he gained wealth; then he forsook God who made him, and reviled the Mighty One who had saved him. |
| [16]יקנאהו בזרים בתועבת יכעיסהו |
[16]They provoked him to zealousness with strange gods, they made him angry with idols. |
| [17]יזבחו לשדים לא אלה־ אלהים לא ידעום חדשים מקרב באו לא שערום אבתיכם |
[17]They sacrificed to demons that were not gods; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that were just made. whom your fathers had never worshipped. |
| [18]צור ילדך תשי ותשכח אל מחללך |
[18]But you forsook the Mighty One who bore you, and you forgot the God who made you glorious |
| [19]וירא יהוה וינאץ מכעס בניו ובנתיו |
[19]And the LORD saw it, and was angry, because his sons and daughters provoked him. |
| [20]ויאמר אסתירה פני מהם־ אראה מה אחריתם כי דור תהפכת המה בנים לא אמן בם |
[20]And he said, I will turn away my face from them, I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children in whom is no faith. |
| [21]הם קנאוני בלא אל כעסוני בהבליהם ואני אקניאם בלא עם בגוי נבל אכעיסם |
[21]They have provoked me to zealousness with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their idols; so I will move them to jealousy with those that are not my people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. |
| [22]כי אש קדחה באפי ותיקד עד שאול תחתית ותאכל ארץ ויבלה ותלהט מוסדי הרים |
[22]For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn to the lowest parts of Sheol, and shall consume the earth and its increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. |
| [23]אספה עלימו רעות חצי אכלה בם |
[23]I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend my arrows upon them. |
| [24]מזי רעב ולחמי רשף וקטב מרירי ושן בהמת אשלח בם עם חמת זחלי עפר |
[24]They shall be disabled with hunger, and I will deliver them to evil spirits, and I will deliver them to vultures; I will also stir up wild beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents which creep in the dust. |
| [25]מחוץ תשכל חרב ומחדרים אימה גם בחור גם בתולה־יונק עם איש שיבה |
[25]Outside the sword shall bereave, and terror in inner chambers shall destroy both the young men and the virgins, the suckling also with the men of gray hairs |
| [26]אמרתי אפאיהם אשביתה מאנוש זכרם |
[26]And I said, Where are they? I would blot out the memory of them from among men. |
| [27]לולי כעס אויב אגור־ פן ינכרו צרימו פן יאמרו ידנו רמה ולא יהוה פעל כל זאת |
[27]Had it not been for the wrath of the enemy, who had become strong, and had it not been for the boasting of the adversary, who would say, It is our hand that has prevailed, and the LORD has not done all this, I would have blotted them out. |
| [28]כי גוי אבד עצות המה ואין בהם תבונה |
[28]For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. |
| [29]לו חכמו ישכילו זאת יבינו לאחריתם |
[29]O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! |
| [30]איכה ירדף אחד אלף ושנים יניסו רבבה אם לא כי צורם מכרם ויהוה הסגירם |
[30]How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Mighty One had delivered them to their enemies, and the LORD had hemmed them in? |
| [31]כי לא כצורנו צורם ואיבינו פלילים |
[31]For their strength is not as our strength, even our enemies themselves being judges. |
| [32]כי מגפן סדם גפנם ומשדמת עמרה ענבמו ענבי רוש־ אשכלת מררת למו |
[32]For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are bitter grapes, the clusters are gall to them; |
| [33]חמת תנינם יינם וראש פתנים אכזר |
[33]Their venom is the venom of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. |
| [34]הלא הוא כמס עמדי חתום באוצרתי |
[34]Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up in my treasures? |
| [35]לי נקם ושלם לעת תמוט רגלם כי קרוב יום אידם וחש עתדת למו |
[35]To me belongs vengeance, and I will recompense them at the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their destruction is at hand, and the misfortune that shall come upon them makes haste. |
| [36]כי ידין יהוה עמו ועל עבדיו יתנחם כי יראה כי אזלת יד ואפס עצור ועזוב |
[36]For the LORD shall judge his people, and be consoled for his servants, because he will see that their power is gone, and there is none to help or sustain. |
| [37]ואמר אי אלהימו־ צור חסיו בו |
[37]And he shall say, Where are their mighty gods, those in whom they trusted, |
| [38]אשר חלב זבחימו יאכלו ישתו יין נסיכם יקומו ויעזרכם־ יהי עליכם סתרה |
[38]Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them now rise up and help you, let them be your protection |
| [39]ראו עתה כי אני אני הוא ואין אלהים עמדי אני אמית ואחיה מחצתי ואני ארפא ואין מידי מציל |
[39]See now that I. even I. am he, and there is no god besides me; I cause men to die, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; and there is none that can escape out of my hands. |
| [40]כי אשא אל שמים ידי ואמרתי חי אנכי לעלם |
[40]For I lift up my hand to heaven and say, I live for ever. |
| [41]אם שנותי ברק חרבי ותאחז במשפט ידי אשיב נקם לצרי ולמשנאי אשלם |
[41]I will whet my glittering sword as the lightning, and my hand shall take hold of judgment; I will render vengeance on those that hate me, and cause my enemies to surrender. |
| [42]אשכיר חצי מדם וחרבי תאכל בשר מדם חלל ושביה מראש פרעות אויב |
[42]I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the crown of the head of the enemy. |
| [43]הרנינו גוים עמו כי דם עבדיו יקום ונקם ישיב לצריו וכפר אדמתו עמו |
[43]Therefore praise his people, O you nations; for the blood of his servants shall be avenged, and he will take vengeance upon his adversaries, and will give absolution to his land and to his people |
| [44]ויבא משה וידבר את כל דברי השירה הזאת־באזני העם הוא והושע בן נון |
[44]And Moses came and recited all the words of this song before the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun. |
| [45]ויכל משה לדבר את כל הדברים האלה־אל כל ישראל |
[45]And when Moses had finished reciting all these words to all Israel, |
| [46]ויאמר אלהם שימו לבבכם לכל הדברים אשר אנכי מעיד בכם היום אשר תצום את בניכם לשמר לעשות את כל דברי התורה הזאת |
[46]He said to them, Set your hearts to all the words which I testify among you this day, which you shall command your children to do, all the words of this law. |
| [47]כי לא דבר רק הוא מכם־כי הוא חייכם ובדבר הזה תאריכו ימים על האדמה אשר אתם עברים את הירדן שמה לרשתה |
[47]For it is not a vain thing for you, because it is your life; and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land which you are crossing the Jordan to possess. |
| [48]וידבר יהוה אל משה בעצם היום הזה לאמר |
[48]And the LORD spoke to Moses that same day, saying, |
| [49]עלה אל הר העברים הזה הר נבו אשר בארץ מואב אשר על פני ירחו וראה את ארץ כנען אשר אני נתן לבני ישראל לאחזה |
[49]Go up into this mountain of the Abraye, into mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over toward Jericho; and view the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel as a possession: |
| [50]ומת בהר אשר אתה עלה שמה והאסף אל עמיך כאשר מת אהרן אחיך בהר ההר ויאסף אל עמיו |
[50]And die on the mountain which you ascend, and be gathered to your people; as Aaron your brother died on mount Hor, and was gathered to his people: |
| [51]על אשר מעלתם בי בתוך בני ישראל במי מריבת קדש מדבר צן־על אשר לא קדשתם אותי בתוך בני ישראל |
[51]Because you transgressed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Mesotha which is at Rakim, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not sanctify me in the midst of the children of Israel. |
| [52]כי מנגד תראה את הארץ ושמה לא תבוא־אל הארץ אשר אני נתן לבני ישראל |
[52]Yet you shall see the land before you, which I give to the children of Israel; but you shall not enter there |
