[1]And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, |
[1]And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, |
[2]that thei take to me the firste fruytis; of ech man that offrith wilfuli, ye schulen take tho. |
[2]Speak to the children of Israel, and take first-fruits of all, who may be disposed in their heart to give; and ye shall take my first-fruits. |
[3]Forsothe these thingis it ben, whiche ye schulen take, gold, and siluer, and bras, iacynt, |
[3]And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold and silver and brass, |
[4]and purpur, and reed silk twies died, and bijs, heeris of geet, and `skynnes of wetheris maad reed, |
[4]and blue, and purple, and double scarlet, and fine spun linen, and goats' hair, |
[5]and skynnes of iacynt, |
[5]and rams' skins dyed red, and blue skins, and incorruptible wood, |
[6]and trees of Sechym, and oile to liytis to be ordeyned, swete smellynge spiceries in to oynement, and encensis of good odour, |
[6]and oil for the light, incense for anointing oil, and for the composition of incense, |
[7]onochym stoonys, and gemmes to ourne ephod, and the racional. |
[7]and sardius stones, and stones for the carved work of the breast-plate, and the full-length robe. |
[8]And thei schulen make a seyntuarie to me, and Y schal dwelle in the myddis of hem, bi al the licnesse of the tabernacle, |
[8]And thou shalt make me a sanctuary, and I will appear among you. |
[9]which Y schal schewe to thee, and of alle the vessels of ournyng therof. |
[9]And thou shalt make for me according to all things which I shew thee in the mountain; even the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all its furniture: so shalt thou make it. |
[10]And thus ye schulen make it; ioyne ye to gidere an arke of the trees of Sechym, whos lengthe haue twey cubitis and an half, the broodnesse haue a cubit and half, the hiynesse haue `in lijk maner a cubit and half. |
[10]And thou shalt make the ark of testimony of incorruptible wood; the length of two cubits and a half, and the breadth of a cubit and a half, and the height of a cubit and a half. |
[11]And thou schalt ouergilde it with clenneste gold with ynne and with out forth; and thou schalt make a goldun crowne aboue `bi cumpas, |
[11]And thou shalt gild it with pure gold, thou shalt gild it within and without; and thou shalt make for it golden wreaths twisted round about. |
[12]and foure goldun cerclis, whiche thou schalt sette bi foure corneris of the arke; twei ceerclis be in o syde, and twei cerclis in the tother side. |
[12]And thou shalt cast for it four golden rings, and shalt put them on the four sides; two rings on the one side, and two rings on the other side. |
[13]Also thou schalt make barris of the trees of Sechym, and thou schalt hile tho with gold, |
[13]And thou shalt make staves of incorruptible wood, and shalt gild them with gold. |
[14]and thou schalt brynge yn bi the cerclis that ben in the sidis of the arke, |
[14]And thou shalt put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, to bear the ark with them. |
[15]that it be borun in tho, whiche schulen euere be in the ceerclis, nether schulen ony tyme be drawun out of thoo. |
[15]The staves shall remain fixed in the rings of the ark. |
[16]And thou schalt putte in to the arke the witnessing, which Y schal yyue to thee. |
[16]And thou shalt put into the ark the testimonies which I shall give thee. |
[17]And thou schalt make a propiciatorie of clenneste gold; `that is a table hilinge the arke; the lengthe therof schal holde twei cubitis and an half, the broodnesse schal holde a cubit and half. |
[17]And thou shalt make a propitiatory, a lid of pure gold; the length of two cubits and a half, and the breadth of a cubit and a half. |
[18]Also thou schalt make on euer eithir side of `Goddis answeryng place twei cherubyns of gold, and betun out with hamer; |
[18]And thou shalt make two cherubs graven in gold, and thou shalt put them on both sides of the propitiatory. |
[19]o cherub be in o syde of `Goddis answeryng place, and the tother in the tother side; |
[19]They shall be made, one cherub on this side, and another cherub on the other side of the propitiatory; and thou shalt make the two cherubs on the two sides. |
[20]hele thei euer either side of the propiciatorie, and holde thei forth wyngis, and hile thei `Goddis answeryng place; and biholde thei hem silf to gidere, while the faces ben turned in to the propiciatorie, with which the arke of the Lord schal be hilid, |
[20]The cherubs shall stretch forth their wings above, overshadowing the propitiatory with their wings; and their faces shall be toward each other, the faces of the cherubs shall be toward the propitiatory. |
[21]in which arke thou schalt putte the `witnessyng, which Y schal yyue to thee. |
[21]And thou shalt set the propitiatory on the ark above, and thou shalt put into the ark the testimonies which I shall give thee. |
[22]Fro thennus Y schal comaunde, and schal speke to thee aboue the propiciatorie, that is, fro the myddis of twei cherubyns, that schulen be on the arke of witnessyng, alle thingis whiche Y schal comaunde `bi thee to the sones of Israel. |
[22]And I will make myself known to thee from thence, and I will speak to thee above the propitiatory between the two cherubs, which are upon the ark of testimony, even in all things which I shall charge thee concerning the children of Israel. |
[23]Also thou schalt make a boord of the trees of Sechym, hauinge twei cubitis of lengthe, and a cubit in broodnesse, and a cubit and half in hiyenesse. |
[23]And thou shalt make a golden table of pure gold, in length two cubits, and in breadth a cubit, and in height a cubit and a half. |
[24]And thou schalt ouergilde the bord with purest gold, and thou schalt make to it a goldun brynke `bi cumpas; |
[24]And thou shalt make for it golden wreaths twisted round about, and thou shalt make for it a crown of an hand-breadth round about. |
[25]and `thou schalt make to that brynke a coroun rasid bitwixe foure fyngris hiy, and `thou schalt make on that another lytil goldun coroun. |
[25]And thou shalt make a twisted wreath for the crown round about. |
[26]And thou schalt make redi foure goldun cerclis, and thou schalt put thoo in foure corners of the same boord, bi alle feet. |
[26]And thou shalt make four golden rings; and thou shalt put the four rings upon the four parts of its feet under the crown. |
[27]Vndur the coroun schulen be goldun cerclis, that the barris be put thorou tho, and that the boord may be borun. |
[27]And the rings shall be for bearings for the staves, that they may bear the table with them. |
[28]Thou schalt make tho barris of the trees of Sechym, and thou schalt cumpas with gold to bere the boord. |
[28]And thou shalt make the staves of incorruptible wood, and thou shalt gild them with pure gold; and the table shall be borne with them. |
[29]And thou schalt make redi vessels of vynegre, and viols, cenceris, and cuppis of pureste gold, in whiche fletynge sacrifices schulen be offrid. |
[29]And thou shalt make its dishes and its censers, and its bowls, and its cups, with which thou shalt offer drink-offerings: of pure gold shalt thou make them. |
[30]And thou schalt sette on the boord looues of proposicioun, in my siyt euere. |
[30]And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me continually. |
[31]And thou schalt make a candilstike `betun forth with hamer, of clenneste gold, and thou schalt make the schaft therof, and yerdis, cuppis, and litle rundelis, and lilies comynge forth therof. |
[31]And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold; thou shalt make the candlestick of graven work: its stem and its branches, and its bowls and its knops and its lilies shall be of one piece. |
[32]Sixe yerdis schulen go out of the sidis, thre of o side, and thre of the tother. |
[32]And six branches proceeding sideways, three branches of the candlestick from one side of it, and three branches of the candlestick from the other side. |
[33]Thre cuppis as in the maner of a note bi ech yerde, and litle rundelis to gidere, and a lilie, and in lijk maner thre cuppis at the licnesse of a note in the tother, and litle rundelis togidere, and a lilie; this schal be the werk of sixe yerdis, that schulen be brouyt forth of the schaft. |
[33]And three bowls fashioned like almonds, on each branch a knop and a lily; so to the six branches proceeding from the candlestick, |
[34]Forsothe in thilke candilstik e schulen be foure cuppis in the maner of a note, and litle rundels and lilies by ech cuppe; |
[34]and in the candlestick four bowls fashioned like almonds, in each branch knops and the flowers of the same. |
[35]and litle rundelis schulen be vndir twey yerdis bi thre places, whiche yerdis to gidere ben maad sixe, comynge forth of o schaft; and therfor the litle rundelis and yerdis |
[35]A knop under two branches out of it, and a knop under four branches out of it; so to the six branches proceeding from the candlestick; and in the candlestick four bowls fashioned like almonds. |
[36]therof schulen be alle betun out with hamer, of clenneste gold. |
[36]Let the knops and the branches be of one piece, altogether graven of one piece of pure gold. |
[37]And thou schalt make seuene lanternes, and thou schalt sette tho on the candilstike, that tho schyne euene ayens. |
[37]And thou shalt make its seven lamps: and thou shalt set on it the lamps, and they shall shine from one front. |
[38]Also tongis to `do out the snottis, and where tho thingis, that ben snottid out, ben quenchid, be maad of clenneste gold. |
[38]And thou shalt make its funnel and its snuff-dishes of pure gold. |
[39]Al the weiyt of the candilstike with alle hise vesselis schal haue a talent of clennest gold. |
[39]All these articles shall be a talent of pure gold. |
[40]Biholde thou, and make bi the saumpler, which ys schewide to thee in the hil. |
[40]See, thou shalt make them according to the pattern shewed thee in the mount. |
