[1]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ spoke unto Moses: 'Depart, go up hence, thou and the people that thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land of which I swore unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying: Unto thy seed will I give it— [1]Afterward the Lord said unto Moses, Depart, go up from hence, thou, and the people (which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt) unto the land which I swear unto Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it.
[2]And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite— [2]And I will send an angel before thee and will cast out the Canaanites, the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
[3]Unto a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou art a stiffnecked people; lest I consume thee in the way.' [3]To a land, I say, that floweth with milk and honey: for I will not go up with thee, because thou art a stiff-necked people, lest I consume thee in the way.
[4]And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned; and no man did put on him his ornaments. [4]And when the people heard this evil tidings, they sorrowed, and no man put on his best raiment.
[5]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said unto Moses: 'Say unto the children of Israel: Ye are a stiffnecked people; if I go up into the midst of thee for one moment, I sh consume thee; therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.' [5](For the Lord had said to Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiff-necked people, I will come suddenly upon thee, and consume thee: therefore now put thy costly raiment from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee)
[6]And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments from mount Horeb onward. [6]So the children of Israel laid their good raiment from them, after Moses came down from the mount Horeb.
[7]Now Moses used to take the tent and to pitch it without the camp, afar off from the camp; and he called it The tent of meeting. And it came to pass, that every one that sought ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ went out unto the tent of meeting, which was without the camp. [7]Then Moses took his tabernacle, and pitched it without the host far off from the host, and called it Ohel-moed. And when any did seek to the Lord, he went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the host.
[8]And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the Tent, that all the people rose up, and stood, every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the Tent. [8]And when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle.
[9]And it came to pass, when Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cl descended, and stood at the door of the Tent; and ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ spoke with Moses. [9]And as soon as Moses was entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses.
[10]And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, all the people rose up and worshipped, every man at his tent door. [10]Now when all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door, all the people rose up, and worshiped every man in his tent door.
[11]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ spoke unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he would return into the camp; but his minister Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man departed not out of the Tent. [11]And the Lord spake unto Moses, face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. After he turned again into the host, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
[12]And Moses said unto ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎: 'See, Thou sayest unto me: Bring up this people; and Thou hast not let me know whom Thou wilt send with me. Yet Thou hast said: I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in My sight. [12]Then Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Lead this people forth, and thou hast not showed me whom thou wilt send with me: thou hast said moreover, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
[13]Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy ways, that I may know Thee, to the end that I may find grace in Thy sight; and consider that this nation is Thy people.' [13]Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, and that I may find grace in thy sight: consider also that this nation is thy people.
[14]And He said: 'My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.' [14]And he answered, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
[15]And he said unto Him: 'If Thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. [15]Then he said unto him, If thy presence go not with us, carry us not hence.
[16]For wherein now shall it be known that I have found grace in Thy sight, I and Thy people? is it not in that Thou goest with us, so that we are distinguished, I and Thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth?' [16]And wherein now shall it be known, that I and thy people have found favor in thy sight? Shall it not be when thou goest with us? So I, and thy people shall have preeminence before all the people that are upon the earth.
[17]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said unto Moses: 'I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken, for thou hast found grace in My sight, and I know thee by name.' [17]And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this also that thou hast said: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
[18]And he said: 'Show me, I pray Thee, Thy glory.' [18]Again he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory.
[19]And He said: 'I will make all My goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.' [19]And he answered, I will make all my good go before thee, and I will proclaim the Name of the Lord before thee: for I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy, and will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
[20]And He said: 'Thou canst not see My face, for man shall not see Me and live.' [20]Furthermore he said, Thou canst not see my face, for there shall no man see me, and live.
[21]And ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ said: 'Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock. [21]Also the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock:
[22]And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand until I have passed by. [22]And while my glory passeth by, I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with mine hand whiles I pass by.
[23]And I will take away My hand, and thou shalt see My back; but My face shall not be seen.' [23]After I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.
