Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]And he said unto me, Son of man, stand up upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. [1]AND he said to me, Son of man, stand upon your feet and I will speak with you.
[2]And the spirit entered into me, when he had spoken unto me, and set me upon my feet, so that I heard him that spake unto me. [2]And the spirit entered into me when he spoke to me, and he set me upon my feet, and I heard him that spoke to me.
[3]And he said unto me, son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: for they and their fathers have rebelled against me, even unto this very day. [3]And he said to me, Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious people who have risen up against me; they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
[4]For they are impudent children, and stiff hearted: I do send thee unto them, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. [4]And they to whom I am sending you are impudent and stubborn children; and you shall say to them, Thus says the LORD God of hosts.
[5]But surely they will not hear, neither indeed will they cease: for they are a rebellious house: yet shall they know that there hath been a prophet among them. [5]Perhaps they will listen and tremble (for they are a rebellious house), and they shall know that you are a prophet among them
[6]And thou son of man, fear them not, neither be afraid of their words, although rebels, and thorns be with thee, and thou remainest with scorpions: fear not their words, nor be afraid at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. [6]And you, Son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be dismayed by their words, for they will deny you and denounce you; for you dwell among scorpions; fear not their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.
[7]Therefore thou shalt speak my words unto them: but surely they will not hear, neither will they indeed cease: for they are rebellious. [7]And you shall speak my words to them; perhaps they will listen and tremble; for they are a rebellious house.
[8]But thou son of man, hear what I say unto thee: be not thou rebellious, like this rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. [8]But you, Son of man, hear what I say to you; and be not rebellious like that rebellious house: but open your mouth and eat what I shall give you.
[9]And when I looked up, behold, an hand was sent unto me, and lo, a roll of a book was therein. [9]And when I looked, behold, a hand was stretched out to me; and, lo, a scroll of a book was in it.
[10]And he spread it before me, and it was written within and without, and there was written therein, lamentations, and mourning, and woe. [10]And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without; and there were written in it chants, woes, and lamentations
