[1]Again in the ninthH8671 yearH8141, in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, in the tenthH6218 day of the monthH2320, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[1]And the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came unto me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, saying: |
[2]SonH1121 of manH120, writeH3789[H8798] thee the nameH8034 of the dayH3117, even of this sameH6106 dayH3117: the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 setH5564[H8804] himself against JerusalemH3389 this sameH6106 dayH3117. |
[2]'Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this selfsame day; this selfsame day the king of Babylon hath invested Jerusalem. |
[3]And utterH4911[H8798] a parableH4912 unto the rebelliousH4805 houseH1004, and sayH559[H8804] unto them, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Set onH8239[H8798] a potH5518, set it onH8239[H8798], and also pourH3332[H8798] water into itH4325: |
[3]And utter a parable concerning the rebellious house, and say unto them: Thus saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Set on the pot, set it on, and also pour water into it; |
[4]GatherH622[H8798] the piecesH5409 thereof into it, even every goodH2896 pieceH5409, the thighH3409, and the shoulderH3802; fillH4390[H8761] it with the choiceH4005 bonesH6106. |
[4]Gather into it the pieces belonging to it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones. |
[5]TakeH3947[H8800] the choiceH4005 of the flockH6629, and burnH1754 also the bonesH6106 under it, and make it boilH7570[H8761] wellH7571, and let them seetheH1310[H8804] the bonesH6106 of it thereinH8432. |
[5]Take the choice of the flock, and pile also the bones under it; make it boil well, that the bones thereof may also be seethed in the midst of it. |
[6]Wherefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; WoeH188 to the bloodyH1818 cityH5892, to the potH5518 whose scumH2457 is therein, and whose scumH2457 is not gone outH3318[H8804] of it! bring it outH3318[H8685] pieceH5409 by pieceH5409; let no lotH1486 fallH5307 upon itH8804. |
[6]Wherefore thus saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose filth is therein, and whose filth is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; no lot is fallen upon it. |
[7]For her bloodH1818 is in the midstH8432 of her; she setH7760[H8804] it upon the topH6706 of a rockH5553; she pouredH8210[H8804] it not upon the groundH776, to coverH3680[H8763] it with dustH6083; |
[7]For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; |
[8]That it might cause furyH2534 to come upH5927[H8687] to takeH5358[H8800] vengeanceH5359; I have setH5414[H8804] her bloodH1818 upon the topH6706 of a rockH5553, that it should not be coveredH3680.[H8736] |
[8]That it might cause fury to come up, that vengeance might be taken, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered. |
[9]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; WoeH188 to the bloodyH1818 cityH5892! I will even make the pileH4071 for fire greatH1431.[H8686] |
[9]Therefore thus saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great, |
[10]HeapH7235[H8685] on woodH6086, kindleH1814[H8687] the fireH784, consumeH8552[H8687] the fleshH1320, and spiceH7543[H8687] it wellH4841, and let the bonesH6106 be burnedH2787.[H8735] |
[10]Heaping on the wood, kindling the fire, that the flesh may be consumed; and preparing the mixture, that the bones also may be burned; |
[11]Then setH5975[H8687] it emptyH7386 upon the coalsH1513 thereof, that the brassH5178 of it may be hotH3179[H8799], and may burnH2787[H8804], and that the filthinessH2932 of it may be moltenH5413[H8738] in itH8432, that the scumH2457 of it may be consumedH8552.[H8799] |
[11]Then will I set it empty upon the coals thereof, that it may be hot, and the bottom thereof may burn, and that the impurity of it may be molten in it, that the filth of it may be consumed |
[12]She hath weariedH3811[H8689] herself with liesH8383, and her greatH7227 scumH2457 went not forthH3318[H8799] out of her: her scumH2457 shall be in the fireH784. |
[12]It hath wearied itself with toil; yet its great filth goeth not forth out of it, yea, its noisome filth. |
[13]In thy filthinessH2932 is lewdnessH2154: because I have purgedH2891[H8765] thee, and thou wast not purgedH2891[H8804], thou shalt not be purgedH2891[H8799] from thy filthinessH2932 any more, till I have caused my furyH2534 to restH5117 upon theeH8687. |
[13]Because of thy filthy lewdness, because I have purged thee and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have satisfied My fury upon thee. |
[14]I the LORDH3068 have spokenH1696[H8765] it: it shall come to passH935[H8802], and I will doH6213[H8804] it; I will not go backH6544[H8799], neither will I spareH2347[H8799], neither will I repentH5162[H8735]; according to thy waysH1870, and according to thy doingsH5949, shall they judgeH8199[H8804] thee, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[14]I 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 have spoken it; it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇.' |
[15]Also the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[15]Also the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came unto me, saying: |
[16]SonH1121 of manH120, behold, I take awayH3947[H8802] from thee the desireH4261 of thine eyesH5869 with a strokeH4046: yet neither shalt thou mournH5594[H8799] nor weepH1058[H8799], neither shall thy tearsH1832 run downH935.[H8799] |
[16]'Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke; yet neither shalt thou make lamentation nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. |
[17]ForbearH1826[H8798] to cryH602[H8736], makeH6213[H8799] no mourningH60 for the deadH4191[H8801], bindH2280[H8798] the tire of thine headH6287 upon thee, and put onH7760[H8799] thy shoesH5275 upon thy feetH7272, and coverH5844[H8799] not thy lipsH8222, and eatH398[H8799] not the breadH3899 of menH582. |
[17]Sigh in silence; make no mourning for the dead, bind thy headtire upon thee, and put thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thine upper lip, and eat not the bread of men.' |
[18]So I spakeH1696[H8762] unto the peopleH5971 in the morningH1242: and at evenH6153 my wifeH802 diedH4191[H8799]; and I didH6213[H8799] in the morningH1242 as I was commandedH6680.[H8795] |
[18]So I spoke unto the people in the morning, and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded. |
[19]And the peopleH5971 saidH559[H8799] unto me, Wilt thou not tellH5046[H8686] us what these things are to us, that thou doestH6213 soH8802? |
[19]And the people said unto me: 'Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?' |
[20]Then I answeredH559[H8799] them, The wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[20]Then I said unto them: 'The word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came unto me, saying: |
[21]SpeakH559[H8798] unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Behold, I will profaneH2490[H8764] my sanctuaryH4720, the excellencyH1347 of your strengthH5797, the desireH4261 of your eyesH5869, and that which your soulH5315 pitiethH4263; and your sonsH1121 and your daughtersH1323 whom ye have leftH5800[H8804] shall fallH5307[H8799] by the swordH2719. |
[21]Speak unto the house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the longing of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword. |
[22]And ye shall doH6213[H8804] as I have doneH6213[H8804]: ye shall not coverH5844[H8799] your lipsH8222, nor eatH398[H8799] the breadH3899 of menH582. |
[22]And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your upper lips, nor eat the bread of men; |
[23]And your tiresH6287 shall be upon your headsH7218, and your shoesH5275 upon your feetH7272: ye shall not mournH5594[H8799] nor weepH1058[H8799]; but ye shall pine awayH4743[H8738] for your iniquitiesH5771, and mournH5098[H8804] oneH376 toward anotherH251. |
[23]And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet; ye shall not make lamentation nor weep; but ye shall pine away in your iniquities, and moan one toward another. |
[24]Thus EzekielH3168 is unto you a signH4159: according to all that he hath doneH6213[H8804] shall ye doH6213[H8799]: and when this comethH935[H8800], ye shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[24]Thus shall Ezekiel be unto you a sign; according to all that he hath done shall ye do; when this cometh, then shall ye know that I am the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
[25]Also, thou sonH1121 of manH120, shall it not be in the dayH3117 when I takeH3947[H8800] from them their strengthH4581, the joyH4885 of their gloryH8597, the desireH4261 of their eyesH5869, and that whereupon they setH4853 their mindsH5315, their sonsH1121 and their daughtersH1323, |
[25]And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and the yearning of their soul, their sons and their daughters, |
[26]That he that escapethH6412 in that dayH3117 shall comeH935[H8799] unto thee, to cause thee to hearH2045 it with thine earsH241? |
[26]That in that day he that escapeth shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears? |
[27]In that dayH3117 shall thy mouthH6310 be openedH6605[H8735] to him which is escapedH6412, and thou shalt speakH1696[H8762], and be no more dumbH481[H8735]: and thou shalt be a signH4159 unto them; and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[27]In that day shall thy mouth be opened together with him that is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb; so shalt thou be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇.' |
