[1]And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |
| [2]SonH1121 of manH120, prophesyH5012[H8734] and sayH559[H8804], Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; HowlH3213[H8685] ye, Woe worthH1929 the dayH3117! |
[2]Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord; Woe, woe worth the day! |
| [3]For the dayH3117 is nearH7138, even the dayH3117 of the LORDH3068 is nearH7138, a cloudyH6051 dayH3117; it shall be the timeH6256 of the heathenH1471. |
[3]For the day of the Lord is nigh, a day of cloud; it shall be the end of the nations. |
| [4]And the swordH2719 shall comeH935[H8804] upon EgyptH4714, and great painH2479 shall be in EthiopiaH3568, when the slainH2491 shall fallH5307[H8800] in EgyptH4714, and they shall take awayH3947[H8804] her multitudeH1995, and her foundationsH3247 shall be broken downH2040.[H8738] |
[4]And the sword shall come upon the Egyptians, and there shall be tumult in Ethiopia, and in Egypt men shall fall down slain together, and her foundations shall fall. |
| [5]EthiopiaH3568, and LibyaH6316, and LydiaH3865, and all the mingledH6153 people, and ChubH3552, and the menH1121 of the landH776 that is in leagueH1285, shall fallH5307[H8799] with them by the swordH2719. |
[5]Persians, and Cretans, and Lydians, and Libyans, and all the mixed multitude, and they of the children of my covenant, shall fall by the sword therein. |
| [6]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; They also that upholdH5564[H8802] EgyptH4714 shall fallH5307[H8804]; and the prideH1347 of her powerH5797 shall come downH3381[H8804]: from the towerH4024 of SyeneH5482 shall they fallH5307[H8799] in it by the swordH2719, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[6]And the supports of Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her strength shall come down from Magdol to Syene: they shall fall by the sword in it, saith the Lord. |
| [7]And they shall be desolateH8074[H8738] in the midstH8432 of the countriesH776 that are desolateH8074[H8737], and her citiesH5892 shall be in the midstH8432 of the citiesH5892 that are wastedH2717.[H8737] |
[7]And it shall be made desolate in the midst of desolate countries, and their cities shall be desolate in the midst of desolate cities: |
| [8]And they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068, when I have setH5414[H8800] a fireH784 in EgyptH4714, and when all her helpersH5826[H8802] shall be destroyedH7665.[H8738] |
[8]and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall send fire upon Egypt, and when all that help her shall be broken. |
| [9]In that dayH3117 shall messengersH4397 go forthH3318[H8799] from meH6440 in shipsH6716 to make the carelessH983 EthiopiansH3568 afraidH2729[H8687], and great painH2479 shall come upon them, as in the dayH3117 of EgyptH4714: for, lo, it comethH935.[H8802] |
[9]In that day shall messengers go forth hasting to destroy Ethiopia utterly, and there shall be tumult among them in the day of Egypt: for, behold it comes. |
| [10]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; I will also make the multitudeH1995 of EgyptH4714 to ceaseH7673[H8689] by the handH3027 of NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894. |
[10]Thus saith the Lord God; I will also destroy the multitude of the Egyptians by the hand of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, |
| [11]He and his peopleH5971 with him, the terribleH6184 of the nationsH1471, shall be broughtH935[H8716] to destroyH7843[H8763] the landH776: and they shall drawH7324[H8689] their swordsH2719 against EgyptH4714, and fillH4390[H8804] the landH776 with the slainH2491. |
[11]his hand and his people's; they are plagues sent forth from the nations to destroy the land: and they all shall unsheath their swords against Egypt, and the land shall be filled with slain. |
| [12]And I will makeH5414[H8804] the riversH2975 dryH2724, and sellH4376[H8804] the landH776 into the handH3027 of the wickedH7451: and I will make the landH776 wasteH8074[H8689], and all that is thereinH4393, by the handH3027 of strangersH2114[H8801]: I the LORDH3068 have spokenH1696 itH8765. |
[12]And I will make their rivers desolate, and will destroy the land and the fulness of it by the hands of strangers: I the Lord have spoken. |
| [13]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; I will also destroyH6[H8689] the idolsH1544, and I will cause their imagesH457 to ceaseH7673[H8689] out of NophH5297; and there shall be no more a princeH5387 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: and I will putH5414[H8804] a fearH3374 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714. |
[13]For thus saith the Lord God; I will also destroy the nobles from Memphis, and the princes of Memphis out of the land of Egypt; and they shall be no more. |
| [14]And I will make PathrosH6624 desolateH8074[H8689], and will setH5414[H8804] fireH784 in ZoanH6814, and will executeH6213[H8804] judgmentsH8201 in NoH4996. |
[14]And I will destroy the land of Phathore, and will send fire upon Tanis, and will execute vengeance on Diospolis. |
| [15]And I will pourH8210[H8804] my furyH2534 upon SinH5512, the strengthH4581 of EgyptH4714; and I will cut offH3772[H8689] the multitudeH1995 of NoH4996. |
[15]And I will pour out my wrath upon Sais the strength of Egypt, and will destroy the multitude of Memphis. |
| [16]And I will setH5414[H8804] fireH784 in EgyptH4714: SinH5512 shall have greatH2342[H8800] painH2342[H8799], and NoH4996 shall be rent asunderH1234[H8736], and NophH5297 shall have distressesH6862 dailyH3119. |
[16]And I will send fire upon Egypt; and Syene shall be sorely troubled; and there shall be a breaking in Diospolis, and waters shall be poured out. |
| [17]The young menH970 of AvenH206 and of PibesethH6364 shall fallH5307[H8799] by the swordH2719: and these cities shall goH3212[H8799] into captivityH7628. |
[17]The youths of Heliopolis and Bubastum shall fall by the sword, and the women shall go into captivity. |
| [18]At TehaphnehesH8471 also the dayH3117 shall be darkenedH2821[H8804][H8676][H2820][H8804], when I shall breakH7665[H8800] there the yokesH4133 of EgyptH4714: and the pompH1347 of her strengthH5797 shall ceaseH7673[H8738] in herH1931: as for her, a cloudH6051 shall coverH3680[H8762] her, and her daughtersH1323 shall goH3212[H8799] into captivityH7628. |
[18]And the day shall be darkened in Taphnae, when I have broken there the scepters of Egypt: and the pride of her strength shall perish there: and a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall be taken prisoners. |
| [19]Thus will I executeH6213[H8804] judgmentsH8201 in EgyptH4714: and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[19]And I will execute judgment on Egypt; and they shall know that I am the Lord. |
| [20]And it came to pass in the eleventhH259[H6240] yearH8141, in the firstH7223 month, in the seventhH7651 day of the monthH2320, that the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[20]And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying, |
| [21]SonH1121 of manH120, I have brokenH7665[H8804] the armH2220 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714; and, lo, it shall not be bound upH2280[H8795] to be healedH7499[H5414][H8800], to putH7760[H8800] a rollerH2848 to bindH2280[H8800] it, to make it strongH2388[H8800] to holdH8610[H8800] the swordH2719. |
[21]Son of man, I have broken the arms of Pharao, king of Egypt; and, behold, it has not been bound up to be healed, to have a plaster put upon it, or to be strengthened to lay hold of the sword. |
| [22]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Behold, I am against PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and will breakH7665[H8804] his armsH2220, the strongH2389, and that which was brokenH7665[H8737]; and I will cause the swordH2719 to fallH5307[H8689] out of his handH3027. |
[22]Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against Pharao king of Egypt, and I will break his strong and outstretched arms, and will smite down his sword out of his hand. |
| [23]And I will scatterH6327[H8689] the EgyptiansH4714 among the nationsH1471, and will disperseH2219[H8765] them through the countriesH776. |
[23]And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations, and will utterly scatter them among the countries. |
| [24]And I will strengthenH2388[H8765] the armsH2220 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and putH5414[H8804] my swordH2719 in his handH3027: but I will breakH7665[H8804] Pharaoh'sH6547 armsH2220, and he shall groanH5008[H8804] beforeH6440 him with the groaningsH5009 of a deadly wounded manH2491. |
[24]And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword into his hand: and he shall bring it upon Egypt, and shall take her plunder and seize her spoils. |
| [25]But I will strengthenH2388[H8689] the armsH2220 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and the armsH2220 of PharaohH6547 shall fall downH5307[H8799]; and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068, when I shall putH5414[H8800] my swordH2719 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall stretch it outH5186[H8804] upon the landH776 of EgyptH4714. |
[25]Yea, I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharao shall fail: and they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have put my sword into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out over the land of Egypt. |
| [26]And I will scatterH6327[H8689] the EgyptiansH4714 among the nationsH1471, and disperseH2219[H8765] them among the countriesH776; and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[26]And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations, and utterly scatter them among the countries; and they all shall know that I am the Lord. |
