[2]For they have takenH5375[H8804] of their daughtersH1323 for themselves, and for their sonsH1121: so that the holyH6944 seedH2233 have mingledH6148[H8694] themselves with the peopleH5971 of those landsH776: yea, the handH3027 of the princesH8269 and rulersH5461 hath been chiefH7223 in this trespassH4604.
[3]And when I heardH8085[H8800] this thingH1697, I rentH7167[H8804] my garmentH899 and my mantleH4598, and plucked offH4803[H8799] the hairH8181 of my headH7218 and of my beardH2206, and sat downH3427[H8799] astoniedH8074.[H8789]

[5]And at the eveningH6153 sacrificeH4503 I arose upH6965[H8804] from my heavinessH8589; and having rentH7167[H8800] my garmentH899 and my mantleH4598, I fellH3766[H8799] upon my kneesH1290, and spread outH6566[H8799] my handsH3709 unto the LORDH3068 my GodH430,
[6]And saidH559[H8799], O my GodH430, I am ashamedH954[H8804] and blushH3637[H8738] to lift upH7311[H8687] my faceH6440 to thee, my GodH430: for our iniquitiesH5771 are increasedH7235[H8804] overH4605 our headH7218, and our trespassH819 is grown upH1431[H8804] unto the heavensH8064.
[7]Since the daysH3117 of our fathersH1 have we been in a greatH1419 trespassH819 unto this dayH3117; and for our iniquitiesH5771 have we, our kingsH4428, and our priestsH3548, been deliveredH5414[H8738] into the handH3027 of the kingsH4428 of the landsH776, to the swordH2719, to captivityH7628, and to a spoilH961, and to confusionH1322 of faceH6440, as it is this dayH3117.
[8]And now for a littleH4592 spaceH7281 graceH8467 hath been shewed from the LORDH3068 our GodH430, to leaveH7604[H8687] us a remnant to escapeH6413, and to giveH5414[H8800] us a nailH3489 in his holyH6944 placeH4725, that our GodH430 may lightenH215[H8687] our eyesH5869, and giveH5414[H8800] us a littleH4592 revivingH4241 in our bondageH5659.
[9]For we were bondmenH5650; yet our GodH430 hath not forsakenH5800[H8804] us in our bondageH5659, but hath extendedH5186[H8686] mercyH2617 unto us in the sightH6440 of the kingsH4428 of PersiaH6539, to giveH5414[H8800] us a revivingH4241, to set upH7311[H8788] the houseH1004 of our GodH430, and to repairH5975[H8687] the desolationsH2723 thereof, and to giveH5414[H8800] us a wallH1447 in JudahH3063 and in JerusalemH3389.
[10]And now, O our GodH430, what shall we sayH559[H8799] afterH310 this? for we have forsakenH5800[H8804] thy commandmentsH4687,
[11]Which thou hast commandedH6680[H8765] byH3027 thy servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, sayingH559[H8800], The landH776, unto which ye goH935[H8802] to possessH3423[H8800] it, is an uncleanH5079 landH776 with the filthinessH5079 of the peopleH5971 of the landsH776, with their abominationsH8441, which have filledH4390[H8765] it from one endH6310 to anotherH6310 with their uncleannessH2932.
[12]Now therefore giveH5414[H8799] not your daughtersH1323 unto their sonsH1121, neither takeH5375[H8799] their daughtersH1323 unto your sonsH1121, nor seekH1875[H8799] their peaceH7965 or their wealthH2896 forH5704 everH5769: that ye may be strongH2388[H8799], and eatH398[H8804] the goodH2898 of the landH776, and leave it for an inheritanceH3423[H8689] to your childrenH1121 for everH5769.
[13]And afterH310 all that is comeH935[H8802] upon us for our evilH7451 deedsH4639, and for our greatH1419 trespassH819, seeing that thou our GodH430 hast punishedH2820[H8804] us lessH4295 than our iniquitiesH5771 deserve, and hast givenH5414[H8804] us such deliverance as thisH6413;
[14]Should we againH7725[H8799] breakH6565[H8687] thy commandmentsH4687, and join in affinityH2859[H8692] with the peopleH5971 of these abominationsH8441? wouldest not thou be angryH599[H8799] with us till thou hadst consumedH3615[H8763] us, so that there should be no remnantH7611 nor escapingH6413?
[15]O LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, thou art righteousH6662: for we remainH7604[H8738] yet escapedH6413, as it is this dayH3117: behold, we are beforeH6440 thee in our trespassesH819: for we cannot standH5975[H8800] before thee because of thisH6440.
