[1]And Jacob having seen that there was a sale of corn in Egypt, said to his sons, Why are ye indolent? |
[2]ἰδούI ἀκούωVX-XAI1S ὅτιC εἰμίV9-PAI3S σῖτοςN2-NSM ἐνP *αἴγυπτοςN2-DSF καταβαίνωVZ-AAD2P ἐκεῖD καίC πρίαμαιVH-AMD2P ἐγώRP-DP μικρόςA1A-APN βρῶμαN3M-APN ἵναC ζάωV3-PAI1P καίC μήD ἀποθνήσκωVB-AAS1P |
[2]Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt; go down thither, and buy for us a little food, that we may live, and not die. |
[3]καταβαίνωVZI-AAI3P δέX ὁRA-NPM ἀδελφόςN2-NPM *ιωσηφN--GSM ὁRA-NPM δέκαM πρίαμαιVH-AMN σῖτοςN2-ASM ἐκP *αἴγυπτοςN2-GSF |
[3]And the ten brethren of Joseph went down to buy corn out of Egypt. |
[4]ὁRA-ASM δέX *βενιαμίνN--ASM ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM *ιωσηφN--GSM οὐD ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S μετάP ὁRA-GPM ἀδελφόςN2-GPM αὐτόςRD-GSM εἶπονVBI-AAI3S γάρX μήποτεD συνβαίνωVZ-AAS3S αὐτόςRD-DSM μαλακίαN1A-NSF |
[4]But Jacob sent not Benjamin, the brother of Joseph, with his brethren; for he said, Lest, haply, disease befall him. |
[5]ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P δέX ὁRA-NPM υἱόςN2-NPM *ἰσραήλN--GSM ἀγοράζωV1-PAN μετάP ὁRA-GPM ἔρχομαιV1-PMPGPM εἰμίV9-IAI3S γάρX ὁRA-NSM λιμόςN2-NSM ἐνP γῆN1-DSF *χαναανN--S |
[5]And the sons of Israel came to buy with those that came, for the famine was in the land of Chanaan. |
[6]*ιωσηφN--NSM δέX εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἄρχωνN3-NSM ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF οὗτοςRD-NSM πωλέωV2I-IAI3S πᾶςA3-DSM ὁRA-DSM λαόςN2-DSM ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF ἔρχομαιVB-AAPNPM δέX ὁRA-NPM ἀδελφόςN2-NPM *ιωσηφN--GSM προςκυνέωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-DSM ἐπίP πρόσωπονN2N-ASN ἐπίP ὁRA-ASF γῆN1-ASF |
[6]And Joseph was ruler of the land; he sold to all the people of the land. And the brethren of Joseph, having come, did reverence to him, bowing with the face to the ground. |

[7]And when Joseph saw his brethren, he knew them, and estranged himself from them, and spoke hard words to them; and said to them, Whence are ye come? And they said, Out of the land of Chanaan, to buy food. |
[8]ἐπιγιγνώσκωVZI-AAI3S δέX *ιωσηφN--NSM ὁRA-APM ἀδελφόςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GSM αὐτόςRD-NPM δέX οὐD ἐπιγιγνώσκωVZI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASM |
[8]And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. |
[9]καίC μιμνήσκωVSI-API3S *ιωσηφN--NSM ὁRA-GPN ἐνύπνιονN2N-GPN ὅςRR-GPN ὁράωVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-NSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM κατάσκοποςN2-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P κατανοέωVA-AAN ὁRA-APN ἴχνοςN3E-APN ὁRA-GSF χώραN1A-GSF ἥκωV1-PAI2P |
[9]And Joseph remembered his dream, which he saw; and he said to them, Ye are spies; to observe the marks of the land are ye come. |
[10]ὁRA-NPM δέX εἶπονVAI-AAI3P οὐD κύριοςN2-VSM ὁRA-NPM παῖςN3D-NPM σύRP-GS ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI1P πρίαμαιVH-AMN βρῶμαN3M-APN |
[10]But they said, Nay, Sir, we thy servants are come to buy food; |
[11]πᾶςA3-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI1P υἱόςN2-NPM εἷςA3-GSM ἄνθρωποςN2-GSM εἰρηνικόςA1-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI1P οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3P ὁRA-NPM παῖςN3D-NPM σύRP-GS κατάσκοποςN2-NPM |
[11]we are all sons of one man; we are peaceable, thy servants are not spies. |
[12]εἶπονVBI-AAI3S δέX αὐτόςRD-DPM οὐD ἀλλάC ὁRA-APN ἴχνοςN3E-APN ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF ἔρχομαιVAI-AAI2P ὁράωVB-AAN |
[12]And he said to them, Nay, but ye are come to observe the marks of the land. |
[13]ὁRA-NPM δέX εἶπονVAI-AAI3P δώδεκαM εἰμίV9-PAI1P ὁRA-NPM παῖςN3D-NPM σύRP-GS ἀδελφόςN2-NPM ἐνP γῆN1-DSF *χαναανN--S καίC ἰδούI ὁRA-NSM νέοςA1A-NSMC μετάP ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM ἐγώRP-GP σήμερονD ὁRA-NSM δέX ἕτεροςA1A-NSM οὐD ὑποἄρχωV1-PAI3S |
[13]And they said, We thy servants are twelve brethren, in the land of Chanaan; and, behold, the youngest is with our father to-day, but the other one is not. |
[14]εἶπονVBI-AAI3S δέX αὐτόςRD-DPM *ιωσηφN--NSM οὗτοςRD-NSN εἰμίV9-PAI3S ὅςRR-ASN εἶπονVX-XAI1S σύRP-DP λέγωV1-PAPNSM ὅτιC κατάσκοποςN2-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P |
[14]And Joseph said to them, This is it that I spoke to you, saying, ye are spies; |
[15]ἐνP οὗτοςRD-DSN φαίνωVF2-FMI2P νήX ὁRA-ASF ὑγίειαN1A-ASF *φαραώN--GSM οὐD μήD ἐκἔρχομαιVB-AAS2P ἐντεῦθενD ἐάνC μήD ὁRA-NSM ἀδελφόςN2-NSM σύRP-GP ὁRA-NSM νέοςA1A-NSMC ἔρχομαιVB-AAS3S ὧδεD |
[15]herein shall ye be manifested; by the health of Pharao, ye shall not depart hence, unless your younger brother come hither. |
[16]ἀποστέλλωVA-AAD2P ἐκP σύRP-GP εἷςA3-ASM καίC λαμβάνωVB-AAD2P ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP σύRP-NP δέX ἀποἄγωVQ-API2P ἕωςP ὁRA-GSN φανερόςA1A-APN γίγνομαιVB-AMN ὁRA-APN ῥῆμαN3M-APN σύRP-GP εἰC ἀληθεύωV1-PAI2P ἤC οὐD εἰC δέX μήD νήX ὁRA-ASF ὑγίειαN1A-ASF *φαραώN--GSM ἦD μήνX κατάσκοποςN2-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P |
[16]Send one of you, and take your brother; and go ye to prison, till your words be clear, whether ye speak the truth or not; but, if not, by the health of Pharao, verily ye are spies. |
[17]καίC τίθημιVEI-AMI3S αὐτόςRD-APM ἐνP φυλακήN1-DSF ἡμέραN1A-APF τρεῖςA3-APF |
[17]And he put them in prison three days. |
[18]εἶπονVBI-AAI3S δέX αὐτόςRD-DPM ὁRA-DSF ἡμέραN1A-DSF ὁRA-DSF τρίτοςA1-DSF οὗτοςRD-ASN ποιέωVA-AAD2P καίC ζάωVF-FMI2P ὁRA-ASM θεόςN2-ASM γάρX ἐγώRP-NS φοβέωV2-PMI1S |
[18]And he said to them on the third day, This do, and ye shall live, for I fear God. |
[19]εἰC εἰρηνικόςA1-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P ἀδελφόςN2-NSM σύRP-GP εἷςA3-NSM καταἔχωVC-APD3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF φυλακήN1-DSF αὐτόςRD-NPM δέX βαδίζωVA-AAD2P καίC ἀποἄγωVB-AAD2P ὁRA-ASM ἀγορασμόςN2-ASM ὁRA-GSF σιτοδοσίαN1A-GSF σύRP-GP |
[19]If ye be peaceable, let one of your brethren be detained in prison; but go ye, and carry back the corn ye have purchased. |
[20]καίC ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ὁRA-ASM νέοςA1A-ASMC ἄγωVB-AAD2P πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS καίC πιστεύωVC-FPI3P ὁRA-NPN ῥῆμαN3M-NPN σύRP-GP εἰC δέX μήD ἀποθνήσκωVF2-FMI2P ποιέωVAI-AAI3P δέX οὕτωςD |
[20]And bring your younger brother to me, and your words shall be believed; but, if not, ye shall die. And they did so. |
[21]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἕκαστοςA1-NSM πρόςP ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM ναίI ἐνP ἁμαρτίαN1A-DSF γάρX εἰμίV9-PAI1P περίP ὁRA-GSM ἀδελφόςN2-GSM ἐγώRP-GP ὅτιC ὑπεὁράωVBI-AAI1P ὁRA-ASF θλῖψιςN3I-ASF ὁRA-GSF ψυχήN1-GSF αὐτόςRD-GSM ὅτεD καταδέωV2I-IMI3S ἐγώRP-GP καίC οὐD εἰςἀκούωVAI-AAI1P αὐτόςRD-GSM ἕνεκενP οὗτοςRD-GSN ἐπιἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AP ὁRA-NSF θλῖψιςN3I-NSF οὗτοςRD-NSF |
[21]And each said to his brother, Yes, indeed, for we are in fault concerning our brother, when we disregarded the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we hearkened not to him; and therefore has this affliction come upon us. |
[22]ἀποκρίνωVC-APPNSM δέX *ρουβηνN--NSM εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM οὐD λαλέωVAI-AAI1S σύRP-DP λέγωV1-PAPNSM μήD ἀδικέωVA-AAS2P ὁRA-ASN παιδάριονN2N-ASN καίC οὐD εἰςἀκούωVAI-AAI2P ἐγώRP-GS καίC ἰδούI ὁRA-NSN αἷμαN3M-NSN αὐτόςRD-GSM ἐκζητέωV2-PMI3S |
[22]And Ruben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Hurt not the boy, and ye heard me not? and, behold, his blood is required. |
[23]αὐτόςRD-NPM δέX οὐD οἶδαVXI-YAI3P ὅτιC ἀκούωV1-PAI3S *ιωσηφN--NSM ὁRA-NSM γάρX ἑρμηνευτήςN1M-NSM ἀνάP μέσοςA1-ASM αὐτόςRD-GPM εἰμίV9-IAI3S |
[23]But they knew not that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them. |
[24]ἀποστρέφωVD-APPNSM δέX ἀπόP αὐτόςRD-GPM κλαίωVAI-AAI3S *ιωσηφN--NSM καίC πάλινD προςἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-APM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM καίC λαμβάνωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM *συμεωνN--ASM ἀπόP αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC δέωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASM ἐναντίονP αὐτόςRD-GPM |
[24]And Joseph turned away from them, and wept; and again he came to them, and spoke to them; and he took Symeon from them, and bound him before their eyes. |
[25]ἐντέλλομαιVAI-AMI3S δέX *ιωσηφN--NSM ἐνπίμπλημιVA-AAN ὁRA-APN ἀγγεῖονN2N-APN αὐτόςRD-GPM σῖτοςN2-GSM καίC ἀποδίδωμιVO-AAN ὁRA-ASN ἀργύριονN2N-ASN ἕκαστοςA1-GSM εἰςP ὁRA-ASM σάκκοςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC δίδωμιVO-AAN αὐτόςRD-DPM ἐπισιτισμόςN2-ASM εἰςP ὁRA-ASF ὁδόςN2-ASF καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S αὐτόςRD-DPM οὕτωςD |
[25]And Joseph gave orders to fill their vessels with corn, and to return their money to each into his sack, and to give them provision for the way; and it was so done to them. |
[26]καίC ἐπιτίθημιVE-AAPNPM ὁRA-ASM σῖτοςN2-ASM ἐπίP ὁRA-APM ὄνοςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GPM ἀποἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P ἐκεῖθενD |
[26]And having put the corn on the asses, they departed thence. |
[27]λύωVA-AAPNSM δέX εἷςA3-NSM ὁRA-ASM μάρσιπποςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM δίδωμιVO-AAN χόρτασμαN3M-APN ὁRA-DPM ὄνοςN2-DPM αὐτόςRD-GSM οὗD καταλύωVAI-AAI3P ὁράωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM δεσμόςN2-ASM ὁRA-GSN ἀργύριονN2N-GSN αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἐπάνωP ὁRA-GSN στόμαN3M-GSN ὁRA-GSM μάρσιπποςN2-GSM |
[27]And one having opened his sack to give his asses fodder, at the place where they rested, saw also his bundle of money, for it was on the mouth of his sack. |
[28]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-DPM ἀδελφόςN2-DPM αὐτόςRD-GSM ἀποδίδωμιVCI-API3S ἐγώRP-DS ὁRA-NSN ἀργύριονN2N-NSN καίC ἰδούI οὗτοςRD-NSN ἐνP ὁRA-DSM μάρσιπποςN2-DSM ἐγώRP-GS καίC ἐκἵστημιVHI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSF καρδίαN1A-NSF αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC ταράσσωVQI-API3P πρόςP ἀλλήλωRD-APM λέγωV1-PAPNPM τίςRI-ASN οὗτοςRD-ASN ποιέωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM θεόςN2-NSM ἐγώRP-DP |
[28]And he said to his brethren, My money has been restored to me, and behold this is in my sack. And their heart was wonder-struck, and they were troubled, saying one to another, What is this that God has done to us? |
[29]ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P δέX πρόςP *ἰακώβN--ASM ὁRA-ASM πατήρN3-ASM αὐτόςRD-GPM εἰςP γῆN1-ASF *χαναανN--S καίC ἀποἀγγέλλωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-DSM πᾶςA3-APN ὁRA-APN συνβαίνωVZ-AAPAPN αὐτόςRD-DPM λέγωV1-PAPNPM |
[29]And they came to their father, Jacob, into the land of Chanaan, and reported to him all that had happened to them, saying, |
[30]λαλέωVX-XAI3S ὁRA-NSM ἄνθρωποςN2-NSM ὁRA-NSM κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF πρόςP ἐγώRP-AP σκληρόςA1A-APN καίC τίθημιVEI-AMI3S ἐγώRP-AP ἐνP φυλακήN1-DSF ὡςC κατασκοπεύωV1-PAPAPM ὁRA-ASF γῆN1-ASF |
[30]The man, the lord of the land, spoke harsh words to us, and put us in prison as spies of the land. |
[31]εἶπονVAI-AAI1P δέX αὐτόςRD-DSM εἰρηνικόςA1-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI1P οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI1P κατάσκοποςN2-NPM |
[31]And we said to him, We are men of peace, we are not spies. |
[32]δώδεκαM ἀδελφόςN2-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI1P υἱόςN2-NPM ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM ἐγώRP-GP ὁRA-NSM εἷςA3-NSM οὐD ὑποἄρχωV1-PAI3S ὁRA-NSM δέX μικρόςA1A-NSMC μετάP ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM ἐγώRP-GP σήμερονD ἐνP γῆN1-DSF *χαναανN--S |
[32]We are twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is with his father to-day in the land of Chanaan. |
[33]εἶπονVBI-AAI3S δέX ἐγώRP-DP ὁRA-NSM ἄνθρωποςN2-NSM ὁRA-NSM κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF ἐνP οὗτοςRD-DSN γιγνώσκωVF-FMI1S ὅτιC εἰρηνικόςA1-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P ἀδελφόςN2-ASM εἷςA3-ASM ἀποἵημιVB-AAD2P ὧδεD μετάP ἐγώRP-GS ὁRA-ASM δέX ἀγορασμόςN2-ASM ὁRA-GSF σιτοδοσίαN1A-GSF ὁRA-GSM οἶκοςN2-GSM σύRP-GP λαμβάνωVB-AAPNPM ἀποἔρχομαιVA-AAD2P |
[33]And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, Herein shall I know that ye are peaceable; leave one brother here with me, and having taken the corn ye have purchased for your family, depart. |
[34]καίC ἄγωVB-AAD2P πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ὁRA-ASM νέοςA1A-ASMC καίC γιγνώσκωVF-FMI1S ὅτιC οὐD κατάσκοποςN2-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P ἀλλάC ὅτιC εἰρηνικόςA1-NPM εἰμίV9-PAI2P καίC ὁRA-ASM ἀδελφόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ἀποδίδωμιVF-FAI1S σύRP-DP καίC ὁRA-DSF γῆN1-DSF ἐνπορεύομαιV1-PMI2P |
[34]And bring to me your younger brother; then I shall know that ye are not spies, but that ye are men of peace: and I will restore you your brother, and ye shall trade in the land. |
[35]γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S δέX ἐνP ὁRA-DSN κατακενόωV4-PAN αὐτόςRD-APM ὁRA-APM σάκκοςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἕκαστοςA1-GSM ὁRA-NSM δεσμόςN2-NSM ὁRA-GSN ἀργύριονN2N-GSN ἐνP ὁRA-DSM σάκκοςN2-DSM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC ὁράωVBI-AAI3P ὁRA-APM δεσμόςN2-APM ὁRA-GSN ἀργύριονN2N-GSN αὐτόςRD-GPM αὐτόςRD-NPM καίC ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC φοβέωVCI-API3P |
[35]And it came to pass as they were emptying their sacks, there was each man's bundle of money in his sack; and they and their father saw their bundles of money, and they were afraid. |
[36]εἶπονVBI-AAI3S δέX αὐτόςRD-DPM *ἰακώβN--NSM ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM αὐτόςRD-GPM ἐγώRP-AS ἀτεκνόωVAI-AAI2P *ιωσηφN--NSM οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3S *συμεωνN--NSM οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3S καίC ὁRA-ASM *βενιαμίνN--ASM λαμβάνωVF-FMI2P ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AS γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S πᾶςA3-NPN οὗτοςRD-NPN |
[36]And their father Jacob said to them, Ye have bereaved me. Joseph is not, Symeon is not, and will ye take Benjamin? all these things have come upon me. |

[37]And Ruben spoke to his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee; give him into my hand, and I will bring him back to thee. |
[38]ὁRA-NSM δέX εἶπονVBI-AAI3S οὐD καταβαίνωVF-FMI3S ὁRA-NSM υἱόςN2-NSM ἐγώRP-GS μετάP σύRP-GP ὅτιC ὁRA-NSM ἀδελφόςN2-NSM αὐτόςRD-GSM ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S καίC αὐτόςRD-NSM μόνοςA1-NSM καταλείπωVP-XMI3S καίC συνβαίνωVF-FMI3S αὐτόςRD-ASM μαλακίζομαιVS-APN ἐνP ὁRA-DSF ὁδόςN2-DSF ὅςRR-DSF ἄνX πορεύομαιV1-PMS2P καίC καταἄγωVF-FAI2P ἐγώRP-GS ὁRA-ASN γῆραςN3-ASN μετάP λύπηN1-GSF εἰςP ᾅδηςN1M-GSM |
[38]But he said, My son shall not go down with you, because his brother is dead, and he only has been left; and suppose it shall come to pass that he is afflicted by the way by which ye go, then ye shall bring down my old age with sorrow to Hades. |
