[1]Israel toke his iourney with all that he had, and came to Beer seba, and offred offeringes vnto the God of his father Isahac [1]Profectusque Israël cum omnibus quæ habebat, venit ad Puteum juramenti: et mactatis ibi victimis Deo patris sui Isaac,
[2]And God spake vnto Israel in a vision by nyght, saying: Iacab, Iacob? And he aunswered: here am I [2]audivit eum per visionem noctis vocantem se, et dicentem sibi: Jacob, Jacob. Cui respondit: Ecce adsum.
[3]And he sayde: I am God, the God of thy father, feare not to go downe into Egypt: for I wyll there make of thee a great people [3]Ait illi Deus: Ego sum fortissimus Deus patris tui: noli timere, descende in Ægyptum, quia in gentem magnam faciam te ibi.
[4]I wyll go downe with thee into Egypt: and I wyll surely make thee come vp agayne, and Ioseph shall put his hande vpon thyne eyes [4]Ego descendam tecum illuc, et ego inde adducam te revertentem: Joseph quoque ponet manus suas super oculos tuos.
[5]And Iacob rose vp from Beer-seba: and the sonnes of Israel caryed Iacob their father, and their childre, and their wyues, in the charettes whiche Pharao had sent to cary him [5]Surrexit autem Jacob a Puteo juramenti: tuleruntque eum filii cum parvulis et uxoribus suis in plaustris quæ miserat Pharao ad portandum senem,
[6]And they toke their cattell, and the goodes whiche they had gotten in the lande of Chanaan, & came into Egypt, both Icob and all his seede with him [6]et omnia quæ possederat in terra Chanaan: venitque in Ægyptum cum omni semine suo,
[7]His sonnes, & his sonnes sonnes with him, his daughters, and his sonnes daughters, and all his seede brought he with him into Egypt [7]filii ejus, et nepotes, filiæ, et cuncta simul progenies.
[8]These are the names of the chyldren of Israel which came into Egypt, [both] Iacob and his sonnes. Ruben Iacobs first borne [8]Hæc sunt autem nomina filiorum Israël, qui ingressi sunt in Ægyptum, ipse cum liberis suis. Primogenitus Ruben.
[9][The children of Ruben: Hanoch, and Phallu, Hesron, and Charnu [9]Filii Ruben: Henoch et Phallu et Hesron et Charmi.
[10]The children of Simeon: Iemuel, & Iamin, and Ohad, and Iachin, and Sohar, and Saul the sonne of a Chanaanitishe woman [10]Filii Simeon: Jamuel et Jamin et Ahod, et Jachin et Sohar, et Saul filius Chanaanitidis.
[11]The chyldren of Leui: Gerson, Cehath, and Merari [11]Filii Levi: Gerson et Caath et Merari.
[12]The children of Iuda: Er, & Onan, Selah, & Phares, and Zarah: but Er and Onan dyed in the lande of Chanaan. The children of Phares also were Hesron and Hamul [12]Filii Juda: Her et Onan et Sela et Phares et Zara; mortui sunt autem Her et Onan in terra Chanaan. Natique sunt filii Phares: Hesron et Hamul.
[13]And the children of Isachar: Thola, Puuah, and Iob, and Simron [13]Filii Issachar: Thola et Phua et Job et Semron.
[14]The chyldren of Zabulon: Sered, and Elon, and Iahelel [14]Filii Zabulon: Sared et Elon et Jahelel.
[15]These be the children of Lea, whiche she bare vnto Iacob in Mesopotamia, with his daughter Dina. All the soules of his sonnes and daughters, [make] thirtie and three [15]Hi filii Liæ quos genuit in Mesopotamia Syriæ cum Dina filia sua: omnes animæ filiorum ejus et filiarum, triginta tres.
[16]The children of Gad: Siphion, and Haggi, Suni, and Esbon, Eri, & Arodi, and Areli [16]Filii Gad: Sephion et Haggi et Suni et Esebon et Heri et Arodi et Areli.
[17]The children of Aser: Imnah, and Iisuah, and Iisui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister. And the chyldren of Beriah: Heber, and Malchiel [17]Filii Aser: Jamne et Jesua et Jessui et Beria, Sara quoque soror eorum. Filii Beria: Heber et Melchiel.
[18]These are the sonnes of Zilpha, who Laban gaue to Lea his daughter: and these she bare vnto Iacob, [euen] sixteene soules [18]Hi filii Zelphæ, quam dedit Laban Liæ filiæ suæ: et hos genuit Jacob sedecim animas.
[19]The chyldren of Rachel Iacobs wife: Ioseph and Beniamin [19]Filii Rachel uxoris Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.
[20]And vnto Ioseph in the lande of Egypt, were borne Manasses, and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipera priest of On bare vnto him [20]Natique sunt Joseph filii in terra Ægypti, quos genuit ei Aseneth filia Putiphare sacerdotis Heliopoleos: Manasses et Ephraim.
[21]The children of Beniamin: Bela, and Becher, and Asbel, Gera, & Naaman, Ehi, and Ros, Muppim, and Huppim, and Arde [21]Filii Benjamin: Bela et Bechor et Asbel et Gera et Naaman et Echi et Ros et Mophim et Ophim et Ared.
[22]These are the chyldren of Rachel which she bare vnto Iacob, foureteene soules altogether [22]Hi filii Rachel quos genuit Jacob: omnes animæ, quatuordecim.
[23]And the children of Dan: Husim [23]Filii Dan: Husim.
[24]The children of Naphthali: Iahseel, and Guni, Ieser, and Sillem [24]Filii Nephthali: Jasiel et Guni et Jeser et Sallem.
[25]These are the sonnes of Bilha, which Laban gaue vnto Rachel his daughter, and she bare these vnto Iacob altogether seuen soules [25]Hi filii Balæ, quam dedit Laban Racheli filiæ suæ: et hos genuit Jacob: omnes animæ, septem.
[26]And so the soules that came with Iacob into Egypt, whiche came out of his loynes, besides Iacobs sonnes wyues, were altogether threscore & sixe soules [26]Cunctæ animæ, quæ ingressæ sunt cum Jacob in Ægyptum, et egressæ sunt de femore illius, absque uxoribus filiorum ejus, sexaginta sex.
[27]And the sonnes of Ioseph whiche were borne hym in Egypt, were two soules: so that all the soules of the house of Iacob whiche came into Egypt, [were] threscore and ten. [27]Filii autem Joseph, qui nati sunt ei in terra Ægypti, animæ duæ. Omnes animæ domus Jacob, quæ ingressæ sunt in Ægyptum, fuere septuaginta.
[28]And he sent Iuda before hym vnto Ioseph, to direct his face vnto Gosen, and they came into the lande of Gosen [28]Misit autem Judam ante se ad Joseph, ut nuntiaret ei, et occurreret in Gessen.
[29]And Ioseph made redy his charet, and went vp to meete Israel his father vnto Gosen, and presented him self vnto him, and he fell on his necke, and wept on his necke a good whyle [29]Quo cum pervenisset, juncto Joseph curro suo, ascendit obviam patri suo ad eumdem locum: vidensque eum, irruit super collum ejus, et inter amplexus flevit.
[30]And Israel sayd vnto Ioseph: nowe am I content to dye, insomuche as I haue seene thy face, and because thou art yet aliue [30]Dixitque pater ad Joseph: Jam lætus moriar, quia vidi faciem tuam, et superstitem te relinquo.
[31]And Ioseph sayde vnto his brethren, and vnto his fathers house: I wyll go vp, and shewe Pharao, and tell him: my brethren, and my fathers house, whiche were in the lande of Chanaan, are come vnto me [31]At ille locutus est ad fratres suos, et ad omnem domum patris sui: Ascendam, et nuntiabo Pharaoni, dicamque ei: Fratres mei, et domus patris mei, qui erant in terra Chanaan, venerunt ad me:
[32]And they are shepheardes, for theyr trade hath ben to feede cattell: and they haue brought theyr sheepe and theyr cattell, and all that they haue [32]et sunt viri pastores ovium, curamque habent alendorum gregum: pecora sua, et armenta, et omnia quæ habere potuerunt, adduxerunt secum.
[33]And if that Pharao call you, and aske you, what your occupation is [33]Cumque vocaverit vos, et dixerit: Quod est opus vestrum?
[34]Ye shal annswere: thy seruauntes haue ben occupied about cattell from our childhood vnto this tyme, we and our fathers: that ye may dwell in the lande of Gosen. For euery one that kepeth cattell, is an abhomination vnto the Egyptians [34]respondebitis: Viri pastores sumus servi tui, ab infantia nostra usque in præsens, et nos et patres nostri. Hæc autem dicetis, ut habitare possitis in terra Gessen: quia detestantur Ægyptii omnes pastores ovium.
