[1]And Joseph came and told Pharao, saying, My father, and my brethren, and their cattle, and their oxen, and all their possessions, are come out of the land of Chanaan, and behold, they are in the land of Gesem. |

[2]And he took of his brethren five men, and set them before Pharao. |

[3]And Pharao said to the brethren of Joseph, What is your occupation? and they said to Pharao, Thy servants are shepherds, both we and our father. |

[4]And they said to Pharao, We are come to sojourn in the land, for there is no pasture for the flocks of thy servants, for the famine has prevailed in the land of Chanaan; now then, we will dwell in the land of Gesem. And Pharao said to Joseph, Let them dwell in the land of Gesem; and if thou knowest that there are among them able men, make them overseers of my cattle. So Jacob and his sons came into Egypt, to Joseph; and Pharao, king of Egypt, heard of it. |

[5]And Pharao spoke to Joseph, saying, Thy father, and thy brethren, are come to thee. |

[6]Behold, the land of Egypt is before thee; settle thy father and thy brethren in the best land. |

[7]And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharao; and Jacob blessed Pharao. |
| [8]And PharaohH6547 saidH559 H8799unto JacobH3290, HowH4100 oldH2416 H3117art thouH8141? |
[8]And Pharao said to Jacob, How many are the years of the days of thy life? |
| [9]And JacobH3290 saidH559 H8799unto PharaohH6547, The daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my pilgrimageH4033 are an hundredH3967 and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141: fewH4592 and evilH7451 have the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of my lifeH2416 been, and have not attainedH5381 H8689unto the daysH3117 of the yearsH8141 of the lifeH2416 of my fathersH1 in the daysH3117 of their pilgrimageH4033. |
[9]And Jacob said to Pharao, The days of the years of my life, wherein I sojourn, are a hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, they have not attained to the days of the life of my fathers, in which days they sojourned. |

[10]And Jacob blessed Pharao, and departed from him. |

[11]And Joseph settled his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best land, in the land of Ramesses, as Pharao commanded. |
| [12]And JosephH3130 nourishedH3557 H8770his fatherH1, and his brethrenH251, and all his father'sH1 householdH1004, with breadH3899, accordingH6310 to their familiesH2945. |
[12]And Joseph gave provision to his father, and his brethren, and to all the house of his father, corn for each person. |
| [13]And there was no breadH3899 in all the landH776; for the famineH7458 was veryH3966 soreH3515, so that the landH776 of EgyptH4714 and all the landH776 of CanaanH3667 faintedH3856 H8799by reasonH6440 of the famineH7458. |
[13]And there was no corn in all the land, for the famine prevailed greatly; and the land of Egypt, and the land of Chanaan, fainted for the famine. |

[14]And Joseph gathered all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and the land of Chanaan, in return for the corn which they bought, and he distributed corn to them; and Joseph brought all the money into the house of Pharao. |
| [15]And when moneyH3701 failedH8552 H8799in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, all the EgyptiansH4714 cameH935 H8799unto JosephH3130, and saidH559 , H8800GiveH3051 H8798us breadH3899: for why should we dieH4191 H8799in thy presence? for the moneyH3701 failethH656.[H8804] |
[15]And all the money failed out of the land of Egypt, and out of the land of Chanaan; and all the Egyptians came to Joseph, saying, Give us bread, and why do we die in thy presence? for our money is spent. |
| [16]And JosephH3130 saidH559 , H8799GiveH3051 H8798your cattleH4735; and I will giveH5414 H8799you for your cattleH4735, if moneyH3701 failH656.[H8804] |
[16]And Joseph said to them, Bring your cattle, and I will give you bread for your cattle, if your money is spent. |
| [17]And they broughtH935 H8686their cattleH4735 unto JosephH3130: and JosephH3130 gaveH5414 H8799them breadH3899 in exchange for horsesH5483, and for the flocksH6629, and for the cattleH4735 of the herdsH1241, and for the assesH2543: and he fedH5095 H8762them with breadH3899 for all their cattleH4735 for that yearH8141. |
[17]And they brought their cattle to Joseph; and Joseph gave them bread in return for their horses, and for their sheep, and for their oxen, and for their asses; and Joseph maintained them with bread for all their cattle in that year. |
| [18]When that yearH8141 was endedH8552 , H8799they cameH935 H8799unto him the secondH8145 yearH8141, and saidH559 H8799unto him, We will not hideH3582 H8762it from my lordH113, how that our moneyH3701 is spentH8552 ; H8804my lordH113 also hathH413 our herdsH4735 of cattleH929; there is not ought leftH7604 H8738in the sightH6440 of my lordH113, but our bodiesH1472, and our landsH127: |
[18]And that year passed, and they came to him in the second year, and said to him, Must we then be consumed from before our lord? for if our money has failed, and our possessions, and our cattle, brought to thee our lord, and there has not been left to us before our lord more than our own bodies and our land, we are indeed destitute. |
| [19]Wherefore shall we dieH4191 H8799before thine eyesH5869, both we and our landH127? buyH7069 H8798us and our landH127 for breadH3899, and we and our landH127 will be servantsH5650 unto PharaohH6547: and giveH5414 H8798us seedH2233, that we may liveH2421 , H8799and not dieH4191 , H8799that the landH127 be not desolateH3456.[H8799] |
[19]In order, then, that we die not before thee, and the land be made desolate, buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharao: give seed that we may sow, and live and not die, so our land shall not be made desolate. |
| [20]And JosephH3130 boughtH7069 H8799all the landH127 of EgyptH4714 for PharaohH6547; for the EgyptiansH4714 soldH4376 H8804every manH376 his fieldH7704, because the famineH7458 prevailedH2388 H8804over them: so the landH776 became Pharaoh'sH6547. |
[20]And Joseph bought all the land of the Egyptians, for Pharao; for the Egyptians sold their land to Pharao; for the famine prevailed against them, and the land became Pharao's. |
| [21]And as for the peopleH5971, he removedH5674 H8689them to citiesH5892 from one endH7097 of the bordersH1366 of EgyptH4714 even to the other end thereofH7097. |
[21]And he brought the people into bondage to him, for servants, from one extremity of Egypt to the other, |
| [22]Only the landH127 of the priestsH3548 bought heH7069 H8804not; for the priestsH3548 had a portionH2706 assigned them of PharaohH6547, and did eatH398 H8804their portionH2706 which PharaohH6547 gaveH5414 H8804them: wherefore they soldH4376 H8804not their landsH127. |
[22]except only the land of the priests; Joseph bought not this, for Pharao gave a portion in the way of gift to the priests; and they ate their portion which Pharao gave them; therefore they sold not their land. |
| [23]Then JosephH3130 saidH559 H8799unto the peopleH5971, Behold, I have boughtH7069[H8804] H853you this dayH3117 and your landH127 for PharaohH6547: loH1887, here is seedH2233 for you, and ye shall sowH2232 H8804the landH127. |
[23]And Joseph said to all the Egyptians, Behold, I have bought you and your land this day for Pharao; take seed for you, and sow the land. |
| [24]And it shall come to pass in the increaseH8393, that ye shall giveH5414 H8804the fifthH2549 part unto PharaohH6547, and fourH702 partsH3027 shall be your own, for seedH2233 of the fieldH7704, and for your foodH400, and for them of your householdsH1004, and for foodH398 H8800for your little onesH2945. |
[24]And there shall be the fruits of it; and ye shall give the fifth part to Pharao, and the four remaining parts shall be for yourselves, for seed for the earth, and for food for you, and all that are in your houses. |
| [25]And they saidH559 , H8799Thou hast saved our livesH2421 : H8689let us findH4672 H8799graceH2580 in the sightH5869 of my lordH113, and we will be Pharaoh'sH6547 servantsH5650. |
[25]And they said, Thou hast saved us; we have found favour before our lord, and we will be servants to Pharao. |
| [26]And JosephH3130 madeH7760 H8799it a lawH2706 over the landH127 of EgyptH4714 unto this dayH3117, that PharaohH6547 should have the fifthH2569 part; exceptH7535 the landH127 of the priestsH3548 only, which became not Pharaoh'sH6547. |
[26]And Joseph appointed it to them for an ordinance until this day; to reserve a fifth part for Pharao, on the land of Egypt, except only the land of the priests, that was not Pharao's. |
| [27]And IsraelH3478 dweltH3427 H8799in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the countryH776 of GoshenH1657; and they had possessionsH270 H8735therein, and grewH6509 , H8799and multipliedH7235 H8799exceedinglyH3966. |
[27]And Israel dwelt in Egypt, in the land of Gesem, and they gained an inheritance upon it; and they increased and multiplied very greatly. |
| [28]And JacobH3290 livedH2421 H8799in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 seventeenH6240 H7651yearsH8141: so the whole ageH2416 H3117of JacobH3290 was an hundredH3967 fortyH705 H8141and sevenH7651 yearsH8141. |
[28]And Jacob survived seventeen years in the land of Egypt; and Jacob's days of the years of his life were a hundred and forty-seven years. |

[29]and the days of Israel drew nigh for him to die: and he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If I have found favour before thee, put thy hand under my thigh, and thou shalt execute mercy and truth toward me, so as not to bury me in Egypt. |
| [30]But I will lieH7901 H8804with my fathersH1, and thou shalt carryH5375 H8804me out of EgyptH4714, and buryH6912 H8804me in their buryingplaceH6900. And he saidH559 , H8799I will doH6213 H8799as thou hast saidH1697. |
[30]But I will sleep with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me up out of Egypt, and bury me in their sepulchre. And he said, I will do according to thy word. |
| [31]And he saidH559 , H8799SwearH7650 H8734unto me. And he swareH7650 H8735unto him. And IsraelH3478 bowedH7812 H8691himself upon the bed'sH4296 headH7218. |
[31]And he said, Swear to me; and he swore to him. And Israel did reverence, leaning on the top of his staff. |
