[1]And Joseph falleth on his father's face, and weepeth over him, and kisseth him; [1]And JosephH3130 fellH5307 H8799upon his father'sH1 faceH6440, and weptH1058 H8799upon him, and kissedH5401 himH8799.
[2]and Joseph commandeth his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father, and the physicians embalm Israel; [2]And JosephH3130 commandedH6680 H8762his servantsH5650 the physiciansH7495 H8802to embalmH2590 H8800his fatherH1: and the physiciansH7495 H8802embalmedH2590 H8799IsraelH3478.
[3]and they fulfil for him forty days, for so they fulfil the days of the embalmed, and the Egyptians weep for him seventy days. [3]And fortyH705 daysH3117 were fulfilledH4390 H8799for him; for so are fulfilledH4390 H8799the daysH3117 of those which are embalmedH2590 : H8803and the EgyptiansH4714 mournedH1058 H8799for him threescore and tenH7657 daysH3117.
[4]And the days of his weeping pass away, and Joseph speaketh unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, `If, I pray you, I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, [4]And when the daysH3117 of his mourningH1068 were pastH5674 , H8799JosephH3130 spakeH1696 H8762unto the houseH1004 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559 , H8800If now I have foundH4672 H8804graceH2580 in your eyesH5869, speakH1696 , H8761I pray you, in the earsH241 of PharaohH6547, sayingH559,[H8800]
[5]My father caused me to swear, saying, Lo, I am dying; in my burying-place which I have prepared for myself in the land of Canaan, there dost thou bury me; and now, let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and return;' [5]My fatherH1 made me swearH7650 , H8689sayingH559 , H8800LoH2009, I dieH4191 : H8801in my graveH6913 which I have diggedH3738 H8804for me in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, there shalt thou bury meH6912 . H8799Now therefore let me go upH5927 , H8799I pray thee, and buryH6912 H8799my fatherH1, and I will come againH7725.[H8799]
[6]and Pharaoh saith, `Go up and bury thy father, as he caused thee to swear.' [6]And PharaohH6547 saidH559 , H8799Go upH5927 , H8798and buryH6912 H8798thy fatherH1, according as he made thee swearH7650.[H8689]
[7]And Joseph goeth up to bury his father, and go up with him do all the servants of Pharaoh, elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, [7]And JosephH3130 went upH5927 H8799to buryH6912 H8800his fatherH1: and with him went upH5927 H8799all the servantsH5650 of PharaohH6547, the eldersH2205 of his houseH1004, and all the eldersH2205 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714,
[8]and all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and the house of his father; only their infants, and their flock, and their herd, have they left in the land of Goshen; [8]And all the houseH1004 of JosephH3130, and his brethrenH251, and his father'sH1 houseH1004: only their little onesH2945, and their flocksH6629, and their herdsH1241, they leftH5800 H8804in the landH776 of GoshenH1657.
[9]and there go up with him both chariot and horsemen, and the camp is very great. [9]And there went upH5927 H8799with him both chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571: and it was a veryH3966 greatH3515 companyH4264.
[10]And they come unto the threshing-floor of Atad, which [is] beyond the Jordan, and they lament there, a lamentation great and very grievous; and he maketh for his father a mourning seven days, [10]And they cameH935 H8799to the threshingfloorH1637 of AtadH329, which is beyondH5676 JordanH3383, and there they mournedH5594 H8799with a greatH1419 and veryH3966 soreH3515 lamentationH4553: and he madeH6213 H8799a mourningH60 for his fatherH1 sevenH7651 daysH3117.
[11]and the inhabitant of the land, the Canaanite, see the mourning in the threshing-floor of Atad, and say, `A grievous mourning [is] this to the Egyptians;' therefore hath [one] called its name `The mourning of the Egyptians,' which [is] beyond the Jordan. [11]And when the inhabitantsH3427 H8802of the landH776, the CanaanitesH3669, sawH7200 H8799the mourningH60 in the floorH1637 of AtadH329, they saidH559 , H8799This is a grievousH3515 mourningH60 to the EgyptiansH4714: wherefore the name of itH8034 was calledH7121 H8804AbelmizraimH67, which is beyondH5676 JordanH3383.
[12]And his sons do to him so as he commanded them, [12]And his sonsH1121 didH6213 H8799unto him according as he commandedH6680 themH8765:
[13]and his sons bear him away to the land of Canaan, and bury him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place, from Ephron the Hittite, on the front of Mamre. [13]For his sonsH1121 carriedH5375 H8799him into the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and buriedH6912 H8799him in the caveH4631 of the fieldH7704 of MachpelahH4375, which AbrahamH85 boughtH7069 H8804with the fieldH7704 for a possessionH272 of a buryingplaceH6913 of EphronH6085 the HittiteH2850, beforeH6440 MamreH4471.
[14]And Joseph turneth back to Egypt, he and his brethren, and all who are going up with him to bury his father, after his burying his father. [14]And JosephH3130 returnedH7725 H8799into EgyptH4714, he, and his brethrenH251, and all that went upH5927 H8802with him to buryH6912 H8800his fatherH1, afterH310 he had buriedH6912 H8800his fatherH1.
[15]And the brethren of Joseph see that their father is dead, and say, `Peradventure Joseph doth hate us, and doth certainly return to us all the evil which we did with him.' [15]And when Joseph'sH3130 brethrenH251 sawH7200 H8799that their fatherH1 was deadH4191 , H8804they saidH559 , H8799JosephH3130 will peradventureH3863 hate usH7852 , H8799and will certainlyH7725 H8687requiteH7725 H8686us all the evilH7451 which we didH1580 unto himH8804.
[16]And they give a charge for Joseph, saying, `Thy father commanded before his death, saying, [16]And they sent a messengerH6680 H8762unto JosephH3130, sayingH559 , H8800Thy fatherH1 did commandH6680 H8765beforeH6440 he diedH4194, sayingH559,[H8800]
[17]Thus ye do say to Joseph, I pray thee, bear, I pray thee, with the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for they have done thee evil; and now, bear, we pray thee, with the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father;' and Joseph weepeth in their speaking unto him. [17]So shall ye sayH559 H8799unto JosephH3130, ForgiveH5375 , H8798I pray theeH577 now, the trespassH6588 of thy brethrenH251, and their sinH2403; for they didH1580 H8804unto thee evilH7451: and now, we pray thee, forgiveH5375 H8798the trespassH6588 of the servantsH5650 of the GodH430 of thy fatherH1. And JosephH3130 weptH1058 H8799when they spakeH1696 unto himH8763.
[18]And his brethren also go and fall before him, and say, `Lo, we [are] to thee for servants.' [18]And his brethrenH251 also wentH3212 H8799and fell downH5307 H8799before his faceH6440; and they saidH559 , H8799Behold, we be thy servantsH5650.
[19]And Joseph saith unto them, `Fear not, for [am] I in the place of God? [19]And JosephH3130 saidH559 H8799unto them, FearH3372 H8799not: for am I in the place of GodH430?
[20]As for you, ye devised against me evil -- God devised it for good, in order to do as [at] this day, to keep alive a numerous people; [20]But as for you, ye thoughtH2803 H8804evilH7451 against me; but GodH430 meant itH2803 H8804unto goodH2896, toH4616 bring to passH6213 , H8800as it is this dayH3117, to saveH2421 muchH7227 peopleH5971 aliveH2421.[H8687]
[21]and now, fear not: I do nourish you and your infants;' and he comforteth them, and speaketh unto their heart. [21]Now therefore fearH3372 H8799ye not: I will nourishH3557 H8770you, and your little onesH2945. And he comfortedH5162 H8762them, and spakeH1696 H8762kindly unto themH3820.
[22]And Joseph dwelleth in Egypt, he and the house of his father, and Joseph liveth a hundred and ten years, [22]And JosephH3130 dweltH3427 H8799in EgyptH4714, he, and his father'sH1 houseH1004: and JosephH3130 livedH2421 H8799an hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141.
[23]and Joseph looketh on Ephraim's sons of the third [generation]; sons also of Machir, son of Manasseh, have been born on the knees of Joseph. [23]And JosephH3130 sawH7200 H8799Ephraim'sH669 childrenH1121 of the thirdH8029 generation: the childrenH1121 also of MachirH4353 the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519 were brought upH3205 H8795upon Joseph'sH3130 kneesH1290.
[24]And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `I am dying, and God doth certainly inspect you, and hath caused you to go up from this land, unto the land which He hath sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.' [24]And JosephH3130 saidH559 H8799unto his brethrenH251, I dieH4191 : H8801and GodH430 will surelyH6485 H8800visitH6485 H8799you, and bring you outH5927 H8689of this landH776 unto the landH776 which he swareH7650 H8738to AbrahamH85, to IsaacH3327, and to JacobH3290.
[25]And Joseph causeth the sons of Israel to swear, saying, `God doth certainly inspect you, and ye have brought up my bones from this [place].' [25]And JosephH3130 took an oathH7650 H8686of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559 , H8800GodH430 will surelyH6485 H8800visitH6485 H8799you, and ye shall carry upH5927 H8689my bonesH6106 from henceH2088.
[26]And Joseph dieth, a son of an hundred and ten years, and they embalm him, and he is put into a coffin in Egypt. [26]So JosephH3130 diedH4191 , H8799being an hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141 oldH1121: and they embalmedH2590 H8799him, and he was putH3455 H8799in a coffinH727 in EgyptH4714.
