[1]οθεν αδελφοι αγιοι κλησεως επουρανιου μετοχοι κατανοησατε τον αποστολον και αρχιερεα της ομολογιας ημων ιησουν χριστον [1]Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly vocation, consider the Apostle and high Priest of our profession Christ Jesus:
[2]πιστον οντα τω ποιησαντι αυτον ως και μωυσης εν ολω τω οικω αυτου [2]Who was faithful to him that hath appointed him, even as Moses was in all his house.
[3]πλειονος γαρ δοξης ουτος παρα μωυσην ηξιωται καθ οσον πλειονα τιμην εχει του οικου ο κατασκευασας αυτον [3]For this man is counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he which hath builded the house, hath more honor than the house.
[4]πας γαρ οικος κατασκευαζεται υπο τινος ο δε τα παντα κατασκευασας θεος [4]For every house is builded of some man, and he that hath built all things, is God.
[5]και μωυσης μεν πιστος εν ολω τω οικω αυτου ως θεραπων εις μαρτυριον των λαληθησομενων [5]Now Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a witness of the things which should be spoken after.
[6]χριστος δε ως υιος επι τον οικον αυτου ου οικος εσμεν ημεις εανπερ την παρρησιαν και το καυχημα της ελπιδος μεχρι τελους βεβαιαν κατασχωμεν [6]But Christ is as the Son, over his own house, whose house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope unto the end.
[7]διο καθως λεγει το πνευμα το αγιον σημερον εαν της φωνης αυτου ακουσητε [7]Wherefore, as the holy Ghost saith, Today if ye shall hear his voice,
[8]μη σκληρυνητε τας καρδιας υμων ως εν τω παραπικρασμω κατα την ημεραν του πειρασμου εν τη ερημω [8]Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, according to the day of the temptation in the wilderness,
[9]ου επειρασαν με οι πατερες υμων εδοκιμασαν με και ειδον τα εργα μου τεσσαρακοντα ετη [9]Where your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years long.
[10]διο προσωχθισα τη γενεα εκεινη και ειπον αει πλανωνται τη καρδια αυτοι δε ουκ εγνωσαν τας οδους μου [10]Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They err ever in their heart, neither have they known my ways.
[11]ως ωμοσα εν τη οργη μου ει εισελευσονται εις την καταπαυσιν μου [11]Therefore I swear in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.
[12]βλεπετε αδελφοι μηποτε εσται εν τινι υμων καρδια πονηρα απιστιας εν τω αποστηναι απο θεου ζωντος [12]Take heed, brethren, lest at any time there be in any of you an evil heart, and unfaithful, to depart away from the living God.
[13]αλλα παρακαλειτε εαυτους καθ εκαστην ημεραν αχρις ου το σημερον καλειται ινα μη σκληρυνθη εξ υμων τις απατη της αμαρτιας [13]But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
[14]μετοχοι γαρ γεγοναμεν του χριστου εανπερ την αρχην της υποστασεως μεχρι τελους βεβαιαν κατασχωμεν [14]For we are made partakers of Christ, if we keep sure unto the end the beginning, wherewith we are upholden,
[15]εν τω λεγεσθαι σημερον εαν της φωνης αυτου ακουσητε μη σκληρυνητε τας καρδιας υμων ως εν τω παραπικρασμω [15]So long as it is said, Today if ye hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
[16]τινες γαρ ακουσαντες παρεπικραναν αλλ ου παντες οι εξελθοντες εξ αιγυπτου δια μωυσεως [16]For some when they heard, provoked him to anger: howbeit, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
[17]τισιν δε προσωχθισεν τεσσαρακοντα ετη ουχι τοις αμαρτησασιν ων τα κωλα επεσεν εν τη ερημω [17]But with whom was he displeased forty years? Was he not displeased with them that sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
[18]τισιν δε ωμοσεν μη εισελευσεσθαι εις την καταπαυσιν αυτου ει μη τοις απειθησασιν [18]And to whom swear he that they should not enter into his rest, but unto them, that obeyed not?
[19]και βλεπομεν οτι ουκ ηδυνηθησαν εισελθειν δι απιστιαν [19]So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
