1
[1]The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. [1]The visionH2377 of IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531, which he sawH2372[H8804] concerning JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 in the daysH3117 of UzziahH5818, JothamH3147, AhazH271, and HezekiahH3169, kingsH4428 of JudahH3063.
[2]Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. [2]HearH8085[H8798], O heavensH8064, and give earH238[H8685], O earthH776: for the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696[H8765], I have nourishedH1431[H8765] and brought upH7311[H8790] childrenH1121, and they have rebelledH6586 against meH8804.
[3]The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. [3]The oxH7794 knowethH3045[H8804] his ownerH7069[H8802], and the assH2543 his master'sH1167 cribH18: but IsraelH3478 doth not knowH3045[H8804], my peopleH5971 doth not considerH995.[H8712]
[4]Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. [4]AhH1945 sinfulH2398[H8802] nationH1471, a peopleH5971 ladenH3515 with iniquityH5771, a seedH2233 of evildoersH7489[H8688], childrenH1121 that are corruptersH7843[H8688]: they have forsakenH5800[H8804][H853] the LORDH3068, they have provokedH5006[H853] the Holy OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 unto angerH5006[H8765], they are gone awayH2114[H8738] backwardH268.
[5]Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. [5]Why should ye be strickenH5221[H8714] any more? ye will revoltH5627 more and moreH3254[H8686]: the whole headH7218 is sickH2483, and the whole heartH3824 faintH1742.
[6]From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. [6]From the soleH3709 of the footH7272 even unto the headH7218 there is no soundnessH4974 in it; but woundsH6482, and bruisesH2250, and putrifyingH2961 soresH4347: they have not been closedH2115[H8804], neither bound upH2280[H8795], neither mollifiedH7401[H8795] with ointmentH8081.
[7]Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. [7]Your countryH776 is desolateH8077, your citiesH5892 are burnedH8313[H8803] with fireH784: your landH127, strangersH2114[H8801] devourH398[H8802] it in your presence, and it is desolateH8077, as overthrownH4114 by strangersH2114.[H8801]
[8]And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city. [8]And the daughterH1323 of ZionH6726 is leftH3498[H8738] as a cottageH5521 in a vineyardH3754, as a lodgeH4412 in a garden of cucumbersH4750, as a besiegedH5341[H8803] cityH5892.
[9]Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. [9]ExceptH3884 the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635 had leftH3498[H8689] unto us a very smallH4592 remnantH8300, we should have beenH1961[H8804] as SodomH5467, and we should have been likeH1819[H8804] unto GomorrahH6017.
[10]Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. [10]HearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, ye rulersH7101 of SodomH5467; give earH238[H8685] unto the lawH8451 of our GodH430, ye peopleH5971 of GomorrahH6017.
[11]To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. [11]To whatH4100 purpose is the multitudeH7230 of your sacrificesH2077 unto me? saithH559[H8799] the LORDH3068: I am fullH7646[H8804] of the burnt offeringsH5930 of ramsH352, and the fatH2459 of fed beastsH4806; and I delightH2654[H8804] not in the bloodH1818 of bullocksH6499, or of lambsH3532, or of he goatsH6260.
[12]When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? [12]When ye comeH935[H8799] to appearH7200[H8736] beforeH6440 me, who hath requiredH1245[H8765] this at your handH3027, to treadH7429[H8800] my courtsH2691?
[13]Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. [13]BringH935[H8687] no moreH3254[H8686] vainH7723 oblationsH4503; incenseH7004 is an abominationH8441 unto me; the new moonsH2320 and sabbathsH7676, the callingH7121[H8800] of assembliesH4744, I cannot away withH3201[H8799]; it is iniquityH205, even the solemn meetingH6116.
[14]Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. [14]Your new moonsH2320 and your appointed feastsH4150 my soulH5315 hatethH8130[H8804]: they are a troubleH2960 unto me; I am wearyH3811[H8738] to bearH5375 themH8800.
[15]And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. [15]And when ye spread forthH6566[H8763] your handsH3709, I will hideH5956[H8686] mine eyesH5869 from you: yea, when ye make manyH7235[H8686] prayersH8605, I will not hearH8085[H8802]: your handsH3027 are fullH4390[H8804] of bloodH1818.
[16]Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; [16]WashH7364[H8798] you, make you cleanH2135[H8690]; put awayH5493[H8685] the evilH7455 of your doingsH4611 from beforeH5048 mine eyesH5869; ceaseH2308[H8798] H7489to do evilH8687
[17]Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. [17]LearnH3925[H8798] to do wellH3190[H8687]; seekH1875[H8798] judgmentH4941, relieveH833[H8761] the oppressedH2541, judgeH8199[H8798] the fatherlessH3490, pleadH7378[H8798] for the widowH490.
[18]Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. [18]Come nowH3212[H8798], and let us reason togetherH3198[H8735], saithH559[H8799] the LORDH3068: though your sinsH2399 be as scarletH8144, they shall be as whiteH3835[H8686] as snowH7950; though they be redH119[H8686] like crimsonH8438, they shall be as woolH6785.
[19]If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: [19]If ye be willingH14[H8799] and obedientH8085[H8804], ye shall eatH398[H8799] the goodH2898 of the landH776:
[20]But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. [20]But if ye refuseH3985[H8762] and rebelH4784[H8804], ye shall be devouredH398[H8792] with the swordH2719: for the mouthH6310 of the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696 itH8765.
[21]How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. [21]How is the faithfulH539[H8737] cityH7151 become an harlotH2181[H8802]! it was fullH4392 of judgmentH4941; righteousnessH6664 lodgedH3885[H8799] in it; but now murderersH7523.[H8764]
[22]Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water: [22]Thy silverH3701 is become drossH5509, thy wineH5435 mixedH4107[H8803] with waterH4325:
[23]Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them. [23]Thy princesH8269 are rebelliousH5637[H8802], and companionsH2270 of thievesH1590: every one lovethH157[H8802] giftsH7810, and followethH7291[H8802] after rewardsH8021: they judgeH8199[H8799] not the fatherlessH3490, neither doth the causeH7379 of the widowH490 comeH935 unto themH8799.
[24]Therefore saith the LORD, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: [24]Therefore saithH5002[H8803] the LordH113, the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the mighty OneH46 of IsraelH3478, AhH1945, I will easeH5162[H8735] me of mine adversariesH6862, and avengeH5358[H8735] me of mine enemiesH341:[H8802]
[25]And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: [25]And I will turnH7725[H8686] my handH3027 upon thee, and purelyH1253 purge awayH6884[H8799] thy drossH5509, and take awayH5493[H8686] all thy tinH913:
[26]And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. [26]And I will restoreH7725[H8686] thy judgesH8199[H8802] as at the firstH7223, and thy counsellorsH3289[H8802] as at the beginningH8462: afterwardH310 thou shalt be calledH7121[H8735], The cityH5892 of righteousnessH6664, the faithfulH539[H8737] cityH7151.
[27]Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. [27]ZionH6726 shall be redeemedH6299[H8735] with judgmentH4941, and her convertsH7725[H8802] with righteousnessH6666.
[28]And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed. [28]And the destructionH7667 of the transgressorsH6586[H8802] and of the sinnersH2400 shall be togetherH3162, and they that forsakeH5800[H8802] the LORDH3068 shall be consumedH3615.[H8799]
[29]For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen. [29]For they shall be ashamedH954[H8799] of the oaksH352 which ye have desiredH2530[H8804], and ye shall be confoundedH2659[H8799] for the gardensH1593 that ye have chosenH977.[H8804]
[30]For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water. [30]For ye shall be as an oakH424 whose leafH5929 fadethH5034[H8802], and as a gardenH1593 that hath no waterH4325.
[31]And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them. [31]And the strongH2634 shall be as towH5296, and the makerH6467 of it as a sparkH5213, and they shall bothH8147 burnH1197[H8804] togetherH3162, and none shall quenchH3518 themH8764.
