| [1]Thus saith the Lord unto Cyrus his anointed, whose right hand I have holden to subdue nations before him: therefore will I weaken the loins of kings and open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut: |
[1]Hæc dicit Dominus christo meo Cyro, cujus apprehendi dexteram, ut subjiciam ante faciem ejus gentes, et dorsa regum vertam, et aperiam coram eo januas, et portæ non claudentur: |
| [2]I will go before thee and make the crooked straight: I will break the brazen doors, and burst the iron bars. |
[2]ego ante te ibo, et gloriosos terræ humiliabo; portas æreas conteram, et vectes ferreos confringam; |
| [3]And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and the things hid in secret places, that thou mayest know that I am the Lord which call thee by thy name, even the God of Israel. |
[3]et dabo tibi thesauros absconditos, et arcana secretorum, ut scias quia ego Dominus, qui voco nomen tuum, Deus Israël, |
| [4]For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I will even call thee by thy name and name thee, though thou hast not known me. |
[4]propter servum meum Jacob, et Israël, electum meum; et vocavi te nomine tuo: assimilavi te, et non cognovisti me. |
| [5]I am the Lord and there is none other: there is no God besides me: I girded thee though thou hast not known me, |
[5]Ego Dominus, et non est amplius; extra me non est Deus; accinxi te, et non cognovisti me; |
| [6]That they may know from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is none other. |
[6]ut sciant hi qui ab ortu solis et qui ab occidente, quoniam absque me non est: ego Dominus, et non est alter; |
| [7]I form the light and create darkness: I make peace and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. |
[7]formans lucem et creans tenebras, faciens pacem et creans malum: ego Dominus faciens omnia hæc. |
| [8]Ye heavens, send the dew from above, and let the clouds drop down righteousness: let the earth open, and let salvation and justice grow forth: let it bring them forth together: I the Lord have created him. |
[8]Rorate, cæli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum; aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem, et justitia oriatur simul: ego Dominus creavi eum. |
| [9]Woe be unto him that striveth with his maker, the potsherd with the potsherds of the earth: shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? Or thy work, It hath none hands? |
[9]Væ qui contradicit fictori suo, testa de samiis terræ ! Numquid dicet lutum figulo suo: Quid facis, et opus tuum absque manibus est? |
| [10]Woe unto him that saith to his father, What hast thou begotten? Or to his mother, What hast thou brought forth? |
[10]Væ qui dicit patri: Quid generas? et mulieri: Quid parturis? |
| [11]Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the works of mine hands: command you me. |
[11]Hæc dicit Dominus, Sanctus Israël, plastes ejus: Ventura interrogate me; super filios meos et super opus manuum mearum mandate mihi. |
| [12]I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, whose hands have spread out the heavens, I have even commanded all their army. |
[12]Ego feci terram, et hominem super eam creavi ego: manus meæ tetenderunt cælos, et omni militiæ eorum mandavi. |
| [13]I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts. |
[13]Ego suscitavi eum ad justitiam, et omnes vias ejus dirigam; ipse ædificabit civitatem meam, et captivitatem meam dimittet, non in pretio neque in muneribus, dicit Dominus Deus exercituum. |
| [14]Thus saith the Lord, The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and of the Sabeans, men of stature shall come unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall follow thee, and shall go in chains: they shall fall down before thee, and make supplication unto thee, saying, Surely God is in thee, and there is none other God besides. |
[14]Hæc dicit Dominus: Labor Ægypti, et negotiatio Æthiopiæ, et Sabaim viri sublimes ad te transibunt, et tui erunt; post te ambulabunt, vincti manicis pergent, et te adorabunt, teque deprecabuntur. Tantum in te est Deus, et non est absque te Deus. |
| [15]Verily thou, O God, hidest thyself, O God, the Savior of Israel. |
[15]Vere tu es Deus absconditus, Deus Israël, salvator. |
| [16]All they shall be ashamed and also confounded: they shall go to confusion together, that are the makers of images. |
[16]Confusi sunt, et erubuerunt omnes, simul abierunt in confusionem fabricatores errorum. |
| [17]But Israel shall be saved in the Lord, with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end. |
[17]Israël salvatus est in Domino salute æterna; non confundemini, et non erubescetis usque in sæculum sæculi. |
| [18]For thus saith the Lord (that created heaven, God himself, that formed the earth, and made it: he that prepared it, he created it not in vain: he formed it to be inhabited) I am the Lord, and there is none other. |
[18]Quia hæc dicit Dominus creans cælos, ipse Deus formans terram et faciens eam, ipse plastes ejus; non in vanum creavit eam, ut habitaretur formavit eam: Ego Dominus, et non est alius. |
| [19]I have not spoken in secret, neither in a place of darkness in the earth: I said not in vain unto the seed of Jacob, Seek you me: I the Lord do speak righteousness, and declare righteous things. |
[19]Non in abscondito locutus sum, in loco terræ tenebroso; non dixi semini Jacob frustra: Quærite me; ego Dominus loquens justitiam, annuntians recta. |
| [20]Assemble yourselves, and come: draw near together, ye abject of the Gentiles: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their idol, and pray unto a god, that cannot save them. |
[20]Congregamini, et venite, et accedite simul qui salvati estis ex gentibus: nescierunt qui levant lignum sculpturæ suæ, et rogant deum non salvantem. |
| [21]Tell ye and bring them, and let them take counsel together, who hath declared this from the beginning? Or hath told it of old? Have not I the Lord? And there is none other God beside me, a just God, and a Savior: there is none beside me. |
[21]Annuntiate, et venite, et consiliamini simul. Quis auditum fecit hoc ab initio, ex tunc prædixit illud? Numquid non ego Dominus, et non est ultra Deus absque me? Deus justus, et salvans non est præter me. |
| [22]Look unto me, and ye shall be saved: all the ends of the earth shall be saved: for I am God, and there is none other. |
[22]Convertimini ad me, et salvi eritis, omnes fines terræ, quia ego Deus, et non est alius. |
| [23]I have sworn by myself: the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That every knee shall bow unto me, and every tongue shall swear by me. |
[23]In memetipso juravi; egredietur de ore meo justitiæ verbum, et non revertetur: |
| [24]Surely he shall say, In the Lord have I righteousness and strength: he shall come unto him, and all that provoke him, shall be ashamed. |
[24]quia mihi curvabitur omne genu, et jurabit omnis lingua. |
| [25]The whole seed of Israel shall be justified, and glory in the Lord. |
[25]Ergo in Domino, dicet, meæ sunt justitiæ et imperium; ad eum venient, et confundentur omnes qui repugnant ei. |

[26]In Domino justificabitur, et laudabitur omne semen Israël. |
