| [1]מי זה בא מאדום חמוץ בגדים מבצרה זה הדור בלבושו צעה ברב כחו אני מדבר בצדקה רב להושיע |
[1]Who is this that comes from Edom with crimson garments from Bozrah? And who is glorious in his apparel and mighty in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. |
| [2]מדוע אדם ללבושך ובגדיך כדרך בגת |
[2]Why is your apparel red and why are your garments like those of him who treads in the winepress? |
| [3]פורה דרכתי לבדי ומעמים אין איש אתי ואדרכם באפי וארמסם בחמתי ויז נצחם על בגדי וכל מלבושי אגאלתי |
[3]I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the people there was none with me; I have trodden them in my anger and trampled them in my fury; and their blood is splashed upon my garments, and I have stained all my raiment. |
| [4]כי יום נקם בלבי ושנת גאולי באה |
[4]For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my salvation is come. |
| [5]ואביט ואין עזר ואשתומם ואין סומך ותושע לי זרעי וחמתי היא סמכתני |
[5]And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered, and there was none to uphold; therefore my own arm saved me and my fury upheld me. |
| [6]ואבוס עמים באפי ואשכרם בחמתי ואוריד לארץ נצחם |
[6]And I have trodden down the peoples in my anger, and made them drunk in my fury, and I have brought down their strength to the earth |
| [7]חסדי יהוה אזכיר תהלת יהוה כעל כל אשר גמלנו יהוה ורב טוב לבית ישראל אשר גמלם כרחמיו וכרב חסדיו |
[7]I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD for all the things that the LORD has bestowed on us and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on us according to his mercies and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. |
| [8]ויאמר אך עמי המה בנים לא ישקרו ויהי להם למושיע |
[8]For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie; so he became their Saviour. |
| [9]בכל צרתם לא [Q: לו] צר ומלאך פניו הושיעם־באהבתו ובחמלתו הוא גאלם וינטלם וינשאם כל ימי עולם |
[9]In all their troubles he did not afflict them, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he saved them and he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. |
| [10]והמה מרו ועצבו את רוח קדשו ויהפך להם לאויב הוא נלחם בם |
[10]But they rebelled and grieved his holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy and he fought against them. |
| [11]ויזכר ימי עולם משה עמו איה המעלם מים את רעי צאנו־איה השם בקרבו את רוח קדשו |
[11]Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses his servant. Just as when he brought up out of the sea the shepherd of his flock, and as he put his holy Spirit within Moses, |
| [12]מוליך לימין משה זרוע תפארתו בוקע מים מפניהם לעשות לו שם עולם |
[12]Who led them by his right hand and by his glorious arm, dividing the waters before them and making for them an everlasting name |
| [13]מוליכם בתהמות כסוס במדבר לא יכשלו |
[13]And leading them through the deep, as a horse is led in the wilderness, and they stumbled not, |
| [14]כבהמה בבקעה תרד רוח יהוה תניחנו־כן נהגת עמך לעשות לך שם תפארת |
[14]And like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD leading them; so didst thou lead thy people and make for thyself a glorious name |
| [15]הבט משמים וראה מזבל קדשך ותפארתך איה קנאתך וגבורתך המון מעיך ורחמיך אלי התאפקו |
[15]Look down from heaven and behold from thy holy and glorious habitation. Where is thy zeal and thy strength? Turn thy tender mercies and compassion toward us. Are they restrained? |
| [16]כי אתה אבינו־כי אברהם לא ידענו וישראל לא יכירנו אתה יהוה אבינו גאלנו מעולם שמך |
[16]For thou art our Father, though Abraham knew us not and Israel did not acknowledge us; thou, O LORD, art our Father, and our Saviour; thy name is from everlasting. |
| [17]למה תתענו יהוה מדרכיך תקשיח לבנו מיראתך שוב למען עבדיך שבטי נחלתך |
[17]O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy way and hardened our heart so as not to reverence thee? Return, for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thy heritage. |
| [18]למצער ירשו עם קדשך צרינו בוססו מקדשך |
[18]The people of thy holiness have possessed the land but a little while; our oppressors have trodden down thy sanctuary. |
| [19]היינו מעולם לא משלת בם־לא נקרא שמך עליהם לוא קרעת שמים ירדת מפניך הרים נזלו |
[19]We are thine from of old before thou didst rule over them; they were not called by thy name |
