[1]But within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a kid, saying, I will go in to my wife into the chamber: but her father would not suffer him to go in. |
[1]But it came to pass within a while afterH3117, in the timeH3117 of wheatH2406 harvestH7105, that SamsonH8123 visitedH6485[H8799] his wifeH802 with a kidH1423[H5795]; and he saidH559[H8799], I will go inH935[H8799] to my wifeH802 into the chamberH2315. But her fatherH1 would not sufferH5414[H8804] him to go inH935.[H8800] |
[2]And her father said, I thought that thou hadst hated her: therefore gave I her to thy companion. Is not her younger sister fairer than she? Take her, I pray thee, instead of the other. |
[2]And her fatherH1 saidH559[H8799], I verilyH559[H8800] thoughtH559[H8804] that thou hadst utterlyH8130[H8800] hatedH8130[H8804] her; therefore I gaveH5414[H8799] her to thy companionH4828: is not her youngerH6996 sisterH269 fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of herH2896. |
[3]Then Samson said unto them, Now am I more blameless than the Philistines: therefore will I do them displeasure. |
[3]And SamsonH8123 saidH559[H8799] concerning them, NowH6471 shall I be more blamelessH5352[H8738] than the PhilistinesH6430, though I doH6213[H8802] them a displeasureH7451. |
[4]And Samson went out, and took three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned them tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails. |
[4]And SamsonH8123 wentH3212[H8799] and caughtH3920[H8799] threeH7969 hundredH3967 foxesH7776, and tookH3947[H8799] firebrandsH3940, and turnedH6437[H8686] tailH2180 to tailH2180, and putH7760[H8799] aH259 firebrandH3940 in the midstH8432 between twoH8147 tailsH2180. |
[5]And when he had set the brands on fire, he sent them out into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burned up both the ricks and the standing corn with the vineyards and olives. |
[5]And when he had setH1197[H8686] the brandsH3940 on fireH784, he let them goH7971[H8762] into the standing cornH7054 of the PhilistinesH6430, and burnt upH1197[H8686] both the shocksH1430, and also the standing cornH7054, with the vineyardsH3754 and olivesH2132. |
[6]Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. Then the Philistines came up and burned her and her father with fire. |
[6]Then the PhilistinesH6430 saidH559[H8799], Who hath doneH6213[H8804] this? And they answeredH559[H8799], SamsonH8123, the son in lawH2860 of the TimniteH8554, because he had takenH3947[H8804] his wifeH802, and givenH5414[H8799] her to his companionH4828. And the PhilistinesH6430 came upH5927[H8799], and burntH8313[H8799] her and her fatherH1 with fireH784. |
[7]And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and then I will cease. |
[7]And SamsonH8123 saidH559[H8799] unto them, ThoughH518 ye have doneH6213[H8799] thisH2063, yet will I be avengedH5358[H8738] of you, and afterH310 that I will ceaseH2308.[H8799] |
[8]So he smote them hip and thigh with a mighty plague: then he went and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam. |
[8]And he smoteH5221[H8686] them hipH7785 andH5921 thighH3409 with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347: and he went downH3381[H8799] and dweltH3427[H8799] in the topH5585 of the rockH5553 EtamH5862. |
[9]Then the Philistines came up, and pitched in Judah, and were spread abroad in Lehi. |
[9]Then the PhilistinesH6430 went upH5927[H8799], and pitchedH2583[H8799] in JudahH3063, and spreadH5203[H8735] themselves in LehiH3896. |
[10]And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up unto us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, and to do to him as he hath done to us. |
[10]And the menH376 of JudahH3063 saidH559[H8799], Why are ye come upH5927[H8804] against us? And they answeredH559[H8799], To bindH631[H8800] SamsonH8123 are we come upH5927[H8804], to doH6213[H8800] to him as he hath doneH6213 to usH8804. |
[11]Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? Wherefore then hast thou done thus unto us? And he answered them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them. |
[11]Then threeH7969 thousandH505 menH376 of JudahH3063 wentH3381[H8799] to the topH5585 of the rockH5553 EtamH5862, and saidH559[H8799] to SamsonH8123, KnowestH3045[H8804] thou not that the PhilistinesH6430 are rulersH4910[H8802] over us? what is this that thou hast doneH6213[H8804] unto us? And he saidH559[H8799] unto them, As they didH6213[H8804] unto me, so have I doneH6213 unto themH8804. |
[12]Again they said unto him, We are come to bind thee, and to deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. |
[12]And they saidH559[H8799] unto him, We are come downH3381[H8804] to bindH631[H8800] thee, that we may deliverH5414[H8800] thee into the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430. And SamsonH8123 saidH559[H8799] unto them, SwearH7650[H8734] unto me, that ye will not fall uponH6293 me yourselvesH8799. |
[13]And they answered him, saying, No, but we will bind thee and deliver thee unto their hand, but we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him from the rock. |
[13]And they spakeH559[H8799] unto him, sayingH559[H8800], No; but we will bindH631[H8799] thee fastH631[H8800], and deliverH5414[H8804] thee into their handH3027: but surelyH4191[H8687] we will not killH4191[H8686] thee. And they boundH631[H8799] him with twoH8147 newH2319 cordsH5688, and brought him upH5927[H8686] from the rockH5553. |
[14]When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him, and the spirit of the Lord came upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms, became as flax that was burned with fire: for the bands loosed from his hands. |
[14]And when he cameH935[H8804] unto LehiH3896, the PhilistinesH6430 shoutedH7321[H8689] againstH7125[H8800] him: and the SpiritH7307 of the LORDH3068 came mightilyH6743[H8799] upon him, and the cordsH5688 that were upon his armsH2220 became as flaxH6593 that was burntH1197[H8804] with fireH784, and his bandsH612 loosedH4549[H8735] from off his handsH3027. |
[15]And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and caught it, and slew a thousand men therewith. |
[15]And he foundH4672[H8799] a newH2961 jawboneH3895 of an assH2543, and put forthH7971[H8799] his handH3027, and tookH3947[H8799] it, and slewH5221[H8686] a thousandH505 men therewithH376. |
[16]Then Samson said, With the jaw of an ass are heaps upon heaps: with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. |
[16]And SamsonH8123 saidH559[H8799], With the jawboneH3895 of an assH2543, heapsH2565 upon heapsH2565, with the jawH3895 of an assH2543 have I slainH5221[H8689] a thousandH505 menH376. |
[17]And when he had left speaking, he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place, Ramath-Lehi. |
[17]And it came to pass, when he had made an endH3615[H8763] of speakingH1696[H8763], that he cast awayH7993[H8686] the jawboneH3895 out of his handH3027, and calledH7121[H8799] that placeH4725 RamathlehiH7437. |
[18]And he was sore a thirst, and called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised? |
[18]And he was soreH3966 athirstH6770[H8799], and calledH7121[H8799] on the LORDH3068, and saidH559[H8799], Thou hast givenH5414[H8804] this greatH1419 deliveranceH8668 into the handH3027 of thy servantH5650: and now shall I dieH4191[H8799] for thirstH6772, and fallH5307[H8804] into the handH3027 of the uncircumcisedH6189? |
[19]Then God break the cheek tooth, that was in the jaw, and water came there out: and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he was revived: wherefore the name thereof is called, Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day. |
[19]But GodH430 claveH1234[H8799] an hollow placeH4388 that was in the jawH3895, and there cameH3318[H8799] waterH4325 thereout; and when he had drunkH8354[H8799], his spiritH7307 came againH7725[H8799], and he revivedH2421[H8799]: wherefore he calledH7121[H8802] the nameH8034 thereof EnhakkoreH5875, which is in LehiH3896 unto this dayH3117. |
[20]And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years. |
[20]And he judgedH8199[H8799] IsraelH3478 in the daysH3117 of the PhilistinesH6430 twentyH6242 yearsH8141. |
