| [1]כֹּֽה־אָמַ֨ר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י הָלֹ֞וךְ וְקָנִ֤יתָ לְּךָ֙ אֵזֹ֣ור פִּשְׁתִּ֔ים וְשַׂמְתֹּ֖ו עַל־מָתְנֶ֑יךָ וּבַמַּ֖יִם לֹ֥א תְבִאֵֽהוּ׃ |
[1]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 unto me, GoH1980[H8800] and getH7069[H8804] thee a linenH6593 girdleH232, and putH7760[H8804] it upon thy loinsH4975, and putH935[H8686] it not in waterH4325. |
| [2]וָאֶקְנֶ֥ה אֶת־הָאֵזֹ֖ור כִּדְבַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה וָאָשִׂ֖ם עַל־מָתְנָֽי׃ |
[2]So I gotH7069[H8799] a girdleH232 according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, and putH7760[H8799] it on my loinsH4975. |
| [3]וַיְהִ֧י דְבַר־יְהוָ֛ה אֵלַ֖י שֵׁנִ֥ית לֵאמֹֽר׃ |
[3]And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me the second timeH8145, sayingH559,[H8800] |
| [4]קַ֧ח אֶת־הָאֵזֹ֛ור אֲשֶׁ֥ר קָנִ֖יתָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עַל־מָתְנֶ֑יךָ וְקוּם֙ לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְטָמְנֵ֥הוּ שָׁ֖ם בִּנְקִ֥יק הַסָּֽלַע׃ |
[4]TakeH3947[H8798] the girdleH232 that thou hast gotH7069[H8804], which is upon thy loinsH4975, and ariseH6965[H8798], goH3212[H8798] to EuphratesH6578, and hideH2934[H8798] it there in a holeH5357 of the rockH5553. |
| [5]וָאֵלֵ֕ךְ וָאֶטְמְנֵ֖הוּ בִּפְרָ֑ת כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֹותִֽי׃ |
[5]So I wentH3212[H8799], and hidH2934[H8799] it by EuphratesH6578, as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 meH8765. |
| [6]וַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י ק֚וּם לֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וְקַ֤ח מִשָּׁם֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֵזֹ֔ור אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתִ֖יךָ לְטָמְנֹו־שָֽׁם׃ |
[6]And it came to pass afterH7093 manyH7227 daysH3117, that the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, AriseH6965[H8798], goH3212[H8798] to EuphratesH6578, and takeH3947[H8798] the girdleH232 from thence, which I commandedH6680[H8765] thee to hideH2934 thereH8800. |
| [7]וָאֵלֵ֣ךְ פְּרָ֔תָה וָאֶחְפֹּ֗ר וָֽאֶקַּח֙ אֶת־הָ֣אֵזֹ֔ור מִן־הַמָּקֹ֖ום אֲשֶׁר־טְמַנְתִּ֣יו שָׁ֑מָּה וְהִנֵּה֙ נִשְׁחַ֣ת הָאֵזֹ֔ור לֹ֥א יִצְלַ֖ח לַכֹּֽל׃ |
[7]Then I wentH3212[H8799] to EuphratesH6578, and diggedH2658[H8799], and tookH3947[H8799] the girdleH232 from the placeH4725 where I had hidH2934[H8804] it: and, behold, the girdleH232 was marredH7843[H8738], it was profitableH6743 for nothingH8799. |
| [8]וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃ |
[8]Then the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
| [9]כֹּ֖ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֑ה כָּ֠כָה אַשְׁחִ֞ית אֶת־גְּאֹ֧ון יְהוּדָ֛ה וְאֶת־גְּאֹ֥ון יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם הָרָֽב׃ |
[9]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, After this manner will I marH7843[H8686] the prideH1347 of JudahH3063, and the greatH7227 prideH1347 of JerusalemH3389. |
| [10]הָעָם֩ הַזֶּ֨ה הָרָ֜ע הַֽמֵּאֲנִ֣ים ׀ לִשְׁמֹ֣ועַ אֶת־דְּבָרַ֗י הַהֹֽלְכִים֙ בִּשְׁרִר֣וּת לִבָּ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֗וּ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲחֵרִ֔ים לְעָבְדָ֖ם וּלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֣ת לָהֶ֑ם וִיהִי֙ כָּאֵזֹ֣ור הַזֶּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־יִצְלַ֖ח לַכֹּֽל׃ |
[10]This evilH7451 peopleH5971, which refuseH3987 to hearH8085[H8800] my wordsH1697, which walkH1980[H8802] in the imaginationH8307 of their heartH3820, and walkH3212[H8799] afterH310 otherH312 godsH430, to serveH5647[H8800] them, and to worshipH7812[H8692] them, shall even be as this girdleH232, which is goodH6743 for nothingH8799. |
| [11]כִּ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ יִדְבַּ֨ק הָאֵזֹ֜ור אֶל־מָתְנֵי־אִ֗ישׁ כֵּ֣ן הִדְבַּ֣קְתִּי אֵ֠לַי אֶת־כָּל־בֵּ֨ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל וְאֶת־כָּל־בֵּ֤ית יְהוּדָה֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה לִֽהְיֹ֥ות לִי֙ לְעָ֔ם וּלְשֵׁ֥ם וְלִתְהִלָּ֖ה וּלְתִפְאָ֑רֶת וְלֹ֖א שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ |
[11]For as the girdleH232 cleavethH1692[H8799] to the loinsH4975 of a manH376, so have I caused to cleaveH1692[H8689] unto me the whole houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and the whole houseH1004 of JudahH3063, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068; that they might be unto me for a peopleH5971, and for a nameH8034, and for a praiseH8416, and for a gloryH8597: but they would not hearH8085.[H8804] |
| [12]וְאָמַרְתָּ֙ אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה כֹּֽה־אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כָּל־נֵ֖בֶל יִמָּ֣לֵא יָ֑יִן וְאָמְר֣וּ אֵלֶ֔יךָ הֲיָדֹ֙עַ֙ לֹ֣א נֵדַ֔ע כִּ֥י כָל־נֵ֖בֶל יִמָּ֥לֵא יָֽיִן׃ |
[12]Therefore thou shalt speakH559[H8804] unto them this wordH1697; Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, Every bottleH5035 shall be filledH4390[H8735] with wineH3196: and they shall sayH559[H8804] unto thee, Do we not certainlyH3045[H8800] knowH3045[H8799] that every bottleH5035 shall be filledH4390[H8735] with wineH3196? |
| [13]וְאָמַרְתָּ֙ אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם כֹּֽה־אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה הִנְנִ֣י מְמַלֵּ֣א אֶת־כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֣י הָאָ֪רֶץ הַזֹּ֟את וְאֶת־הַמְּלָכִ֣ים הַיֹּשְׁבִים֩ לְדָוִ֨ד עַל־כִּסְאֹ֜ו וְאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְאֶת־הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵ֥י יְרוּשָׁלִָ֖ם שִׁכָּרֹֽון׃ |
[13]Then shalt thou sayH559[H8804] unto them, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, Behold, I will fillH4390[H8764] all the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of this landH776, even the kingsH4428 that sitH3427[H8802] upon David'sH1732 throneH3678, and the priestsH3548, and the prophetsH5030, and all the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of JerusalemH3389, with drunkennessH7943. |
| [14]וְנִפַּצְתִּים֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־אָחִ֜יו וְהָאָבֹ֧ות וְהַבָּנִ֛ים יַחְדָּ֖ו נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה לֹֽא־אֶחְמֹ֧ול וְלֹֽא־אָח֛וּס וְלֹ֥א אֲרַחֵ֖ם מֵהַשְׁחִיתָֽם׃ |
[14]And I will dashH5310[H8765] them oneH376 against anotherH251, even the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068: I will not pityH2550[H8799], nor spareH2347[H8799], nor have mercyH7355[H8762], but destroyH7843 themH8687. |
| [15]שִׁמְע֥וּ וְהַאֲזִ֖ינוּ אַל־תִּגְבָּ֑הוּ כִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה דִּבֵּֽר׃ |
[15]HearH8085[H8798] ye, and give earH238[H8685]; be not proudH1361[H8799]: for the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696.[H8765] |
| [16]תְּנוּ֩ לַיהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֤ם כָּבֹוד֙ בְּטֶ֣רֶם יַחְשִׁ֔ךְ וּבְטֶ֛רֶם יִֽתְנַגְּפ֥וּ רַגְלֵיכֶ֖ם עַל־הָ֣רֵי נָ֑שֶׁף וְקִוִּיתֶ֤ם לְאֹור֙ וְשָׂמָ֣הּ לְצַלְמָ֔וֶת [יָשִׁית כ] (וְשִׁ֖ית ק) לַעֲרָפֶֽל׃ |
[16]GiveH5414[H8798] gloryH3519 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430, before he cause darknessH2821[H8686], and before your feetH7272 stumbleH5062[H8691] upon the darkH5399 mountainsH2022, and, while ye lookH6960[H8765] for lightH216, he turnH7760[H8804] it into the shadow of deathH6757, and makeH7896[H8798][H8675][H7896][H8799] it gross darknessH6205. |
| [17]וְאִם֙ לֹ֣א תִשְׁמָע֔וּהָ בְּמִסְתָּרִ֥ים תִּבְכֶּֽה־נַפְשִׁ֖י מִפְּנֵ֣י גֵוָ֑ה וְדָמֹ֨עַ תִּדְמַ֜ע וְתֵרַ֤ד עֵינִי֙ דִּמְעָ֔ה כִּ֥י נִשְׁבָּ֖ה עֵ֥דֶר יְהוָֽה׃ |
[17]But if ye will not hearH8085[H8799] it, my soulH5315 shall weepH1058[H8799] in secret placesH4565 forH6440 your prideH1466; and mine eyeH5869 shall weepH1830[H8799] soreH1830[H8800], and run downH3381[H8799] with tearsH1832, because the LORD'SH3068 flockH5739 is carried away captiveH7617.[H8738] |
| [18]אֱמֹ֥ר לַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְלַגְּבִירָ֖ה הַשְׁפִּ֣ילוּ שֵׁ֑בוּ כִּ֤י יָרַד֙ מַרְאֲשֹׁ֣ותֵיכֶ֔ם עֲטֶ֖רֶת תִּֽפְאַרְתְּכֶֽם׃ |
[18]SayH559[H8798] unto the kingH4428 and to the queenH1377, HumbleH8213[H8685] yourselves, sit downH3427[H8798]: for your principalitiesH4761 shall come downH3381[H8804], even the crownH5850 of your gloryH8597. |
| [19]עָרֵ֥י הַנֶּ֛גֶב סֻגְּר֖וּ וְאֵ֣ין פֹּתֵ֑חַ הָגְלָ֧ת יְהוּדָ֛ה כֻּלָּ֖הּ הָגְלָ֥ת שְׁלֹומִֽים׃ |
[19]The citiesH5892 of the southH5045 shall be shut upH5462[H8795], and none shall openH6605[H8802] them: JudahH3063 shall be carried away captiveH1540[H8717] all of it, it shall be whollyH7965 carried away captiveH1540.[H8717] |
| [20][שְׂאִי כ] (שְׂא֤וּ ק) עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ [וּרְאִי כ] (וּרְא֔וּ ק) הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצָּפֹ֑ון אַיֵּ֗ה הָעֵ֙דֶר֙ נִתַּן־לָ֔ךְ צֹ֖אן תִּפְאַרְתֵּֽךְ׃ |
[20]Lift upH5375[H8798] your eyesH5869, and beholdH7200[H8798] them that comeH935[H8802] from the northH6828: where is the flockH5739 that was givenH5414[H8738] thee, thy beautifulH8597 flockH6629? |
| [21]מַה־תֹּֽאמְרִי֙ כִּֽי־יִפְקֹ֣ד עָלַ֔יִךְ וְ֠אַתְּ לִמַּ֨דְתְּ אֹתָ֥ם עָלַ֛יִךְ אַלֻּפִ֖ים לְרֹ֑אשׁ הֲלֹ֤וא חֲבָלִים֙ יֹאחֱז֔וּךְ כְּמֹ֖ו אֵ֥שֶׁת לֵדָֽה׃ |
[21]What wilt thou sayH559[H8799] when he shall punishH6485[H8799] thee? for thou hast taughtH3925[H8765] them to be captainsH441, and as chiefH7218 over thee: shall not sorrowsH2256 takeH270[H8799] thee, as a womanH802 in travailH3205?[H8800] |
| [22]וְכִ֤י תֹאמְרִי֙ בִּלְבָבֵ֔ךְ מַדּ֖וּעַ קְרָאֻ֣נִי אֵ֑לֶּה בְּרֹ֧ב עֲוֹנֵ֛ךְ נִגְל֥וּ שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ נֶחְמְס֥וּ עֲקֵבָֽיִךְ׃ |
[22]And if thou sayH559[H8799] in thine heartH3824, Wherefore comeH7122[H8804] these things upon me? For the greatnessH7230 of thine iniquityH5771 are thy skirtsH7757 discoveredH1540[H8738], and thy heelsH6119 made bareH2554.[H8738] |
| [23]הֲיַהֲפֹ֤ךְ כּוּשִׁי֙ עֹורֹ֔ו וְנָמֵ֖ר חֲבַרְבֻּרֹתָ֑יו גַּם־אַתֶּם֙ תּוּכְל֣וּ לְהֵיטִ֔יב לִמֻּדֵ֖י הָרֵֽעַ׃ |
[23]Can the EthiopianH3569 changeH2015[H8799] his skinH5785, or the leopardH5246 his spotsH2272? then mayH3201[H8799] ye also do goodH3190[H8687], that are accustomedH3928 to do evilH7489.[H8687] |
| [24]וַאֲפִיצֵ֖ם כְּקַשׁ־עֹובֵ֑ר לְר֖וּחַ מִדְבָּֽר׃ |
[24]Therefore will I scatterH6327[H8686] them as the stubbleH7179 that passeth awayH5674[H8802] by the windH7307 of the wildernessH4057. |
| [25]זֶ֣ה גֹורָלֵ֧ךְ מְנָת־מִדַּ֛יִךְ מֵֽאִתִּ֖י נְאֻם־יְהוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁר֙ שָׁכַ֣חַתְּ אֹותִ֔י וַֽתִּבְטְחִ֖י בַּשָּֽׁקֶר׃ |
[25]This is thy lotH1486, the portionH4490 of thy measuresH4055 from me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068; because thou hast forgottenH7911[H8804] me, and trustedH982[H8799] in falsehoodH8267. |
| [26]וְגַם־אֲנִ֛י חָשַׂ֥פְתִּי שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ עַל־פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְנִרְאָ֖ה קְלֹונֵֽךְ׃ |

| [27]נִֽאֻפַ֤יִךְ וּמִצְהֲלֹותַ֙יִךְ֙ זִמַּ֣ת זְנוּתֵ֔ךְ עַל־גְּבָעֹות֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה רָאִ֖יתִי שִׁקּוּצָ֑יִךְ אֹ֥וי לָךְ֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם לֹ֣א תִטְהֲרִ֔י אַחֲרֵ֥י מָתַ֖י עֹֽד׃ |
[27]I have seenH7200[H8804] thine adulteriesH5004, and thy neighingsH4684, the lewdnessH2154 of thy whoredomH2184, and thine abominationsH8251 on the hillsH1389 in the fieldsH7704. WoeH188 unto thee, O JerusalemH3389! wilt thou not be made cleanH2891[H8799]? when shall it onceH5750 beH310? |
