Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
The King James Version (w/Strong's)
KJV+
[1]THEN the LORD said to me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading, yet my soul would not be pleased with this people; but I will cast them out of my sight and let them go. [1]Then saidH559[H8799] the LORDH3068 unto me, Though MosesH4872 and SamuelH8050 stoodH5975[H8799] beforeH6440 me, yet my mindH5315 could not be toward this peopleH5971: cast them outH7971[H8761] of my sightH6440, and let them go forthH3318.[H8799]
[2]And it shall come to pass, if they say to you, Where shall we go? Then you shall tell them, Thus says the LORD: Those numbered for death, to death; and those numbered for the sword, to the sword; and those numbered for famine, to famine; and those numbered for captivity, to captivity. [2]And it shall come to pass, if they sayH559[H8799] unto thee, Whither shall we go forthH3318[H8799]? then thou shalt tellH559[H8804] them, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; Such as are for deathH4194, to deathH4194; and such as are for the swordH2719, to the swordH2719; and such as are for the famineH7458, to the famineH7458; and such as are for the captivityH7628, to the captivityH7628.
[3]And I will decree against them four kinds of afflictions, says the LORD: The sword to slay, the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the air and the wild beasts of the earth to devour and destroy. [3]And I will appointH6485[H8804] over them fourH702 kindsH4940, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068: the swordH2719 to slayH2026[H8800], and the dogsH3611 to tearH5498[H8800], and the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, and the beastsH929 of the earthH776, to devourH398[H8800] and destroyH7843.[H8687]
[4]And I will cause them to be a horror in all the kingdoms of the earth, because of the transgressions of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. [4]And I will causeH5414[H8804] them to be removedH2189[H8675][H2113] into all kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776, becauseH1558 of ManassehH4519 the sonH1121 of HezekiahH3169 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, for that which he didH6213[H8804] in JerusalemH3389.
[5]For who shall have pity upon you, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan you? or who shall go aside to inquire about your peace? [5]For who shall have pityH2550[H8799] upon thee, O JerusalemH3389? or who shall bemoanH5110[H8799] thee? or who shall go asideH5493[H8799] to askH7592[H8800] how thou doestH7965?
[6]You have forsaken me, says the LORD, you are gone backward; therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and destroy you; and I shall not spare you again. [6]Thou hast forsakenH5203[H8804] me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, thou art goneH3212[H8799] backwardH268: therefore will I stretch outH5186[H8686] my handH3027 against thee, and destroyH7843[H8686] thee; I am wearyH3811[H8738] with repentingH5162.[H8736]
[7]And I will fan them with a fan in the cities of the earth; I have bereaved them of their children. I have destroyed my people, and yet they did not return from their ways. [7]And I will fanH2219[H8799] them with a fanH4214 in the gatesH8179 of the landH776; I will bereaveH7921[H8765] them of children, I will destroyH6[H8765] my peopleH5971, since they returnH7725[H8804] not from their waysH1870.
[8]Their widows are increased in number more than the sand of the sea; I have brought against them, both against the mother and against the young men, robbers at noonday; I have caused terror and trembling to fall upon them suddenly. [8]Their widowsH490 are increasedH6105[H8804] to me above the sandH2344 of the seasH3220: I have broughtH935[H8689] upon them against the motherH517 of the young menH970 a spoilerH7703[H8802] at noondayH6672: I have caused him to fallH5307[H8689] upon it suddenlyH6597, and terrorsH928 upon the cityH5892.
[9]She who has borne seven children languishes; her pride is gone; her sun has gone down while it was yet day; she has been ashamed and confounded; and the rest of them I will deliver to the sword before their enemies, says the LORD [9]She that hath borneH3205[H8802] sevenH7651 languishethH535[H8797]: she hath given upH5301[H8804] the ghostH5315; her sunH8121 is goneH935[H8804] down while it was yet dayH3119[H8676][H3117]: she hath been ashamedH954[H8804] and confoundedH2659[H8804]: and the residueH7611 of them will I deliverH5414[H8799] to the swordH2719 beforeH6440 their enemiesH341[H8802], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068.
[10]Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me a judge, a rebuker to the whole earth. I am neither a debtor, nor a creditor; yet all of them curse me. [10]WoeH188 is me, my motherH517, that thou hast borneH3205[H8804] me a manH376 of strifeH7379 and a manH376 of contentionH4066 to the whole earthH776! I have neither lent on usuryH5383[H8804], nor men have lent to me on usuryH5383[H8804]; yet every one of them doth curseH7043 meH8764.
[11]The LORD said, Verily I shall not leave you at ease, but I will cause an enemy from the north to encounter you in the time of tribulation and in the time of evil; [11]The LORDH3068 saidH559[H8804], VerilyH3808[H518] it shall be wellH2896 with thy remnantH8281[H8765][H8675][H8293]; verilyH518 I will cause the enemyH341[H8802] to entreatH6293[H8689] thee well in the timeH6256 of evilH7451 and in the timeH6256 of afflictionH6869.
[12]For he is hard as iron and as brass. [12]Shall ironH1270 breakH7489[H8799] the northernH6828 ironH1270 and the steelH5178?
[13]Your riches, your treasures, and all your borders, I will give to the spoil, because of your sins. [13]Thy substanceH2428 and thy treasuresH214 will I giveH5414[H8799] to the spoilH957 without priceH4242, and that for all thy sinsH2403, even in all thy bordersH1366.
[14]And I shall cause you to be enslaved to your enemies in a land which you do not know; for a fire is kindled in my anger, which shall burn upon you [14]And I will make thee to passH5674[H8689] with thine enemiesH341[H8802] into a landH776 which thou knowestH3045[H8804] not: for a fireH784 is kindledH6919[H8804] in mine angerH639, which shall burnH3344 upon youH8714.
[15]O LORD, thou knowest; remember me and save me and avenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering; know that for thy sake I have suffered reproach. [15]O LORDH3068, thou knowestH3045[H8804]: rememberH2142[H8798] me, and visitH6485[H8798] me, and revengeH5358[H8734] me of my persecutorsH7291[H8802]; take me not awayH3947[H8799] in thy longsufferingH639[H750]: knowH3045[H8798] that for thy sake I have sufferedH5375[H8800] rebukeH2781.
[16]Thy commandments have I kept and carried out, thy word was to me a delight and the joy of my heart; for I am called by thy name. [16]Thy wordsH1697 were foundH4672[H8738], and I did eatH398[H8799] them; and thy wordH1697 was unto me the joyH8342 and rejoicingH8057 of mine heartH3824: for I am calledH7121[H8738] by thy nameH8034, O LORDH3068 GodH430 of hostsH6635.
[17]O LORD God of hosts, I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, but I was afraid because of thy hand, and I sat alone; for thou hast filled me with indignation. [17]I satH3427[H8804] not in the assemblyH5475 of the mockersH7832[H8764], nor rejoicedH5937[H8799]; I satH3427[H8804] aloneH910 becauseH6440 of thy handH3027: for thou hast filledH4390[H8765] me with indignationH2195.
[18]Why is my pain so grievous and my wound so severe that it refuses to be healed? Wilt thou be to me as a mirage that cannot be believed? [18]Why is my painH3511 perpetualH5331, and my woundH4347 incurableH605[H8803], which refusethH3985[H8765] to be healedH7495[H8736]? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liarH391, and as watersH4325 that failH539?[H8738]
[19]Therefore thus says the LORD, If you repent, then I will bring you back again, and you shall stand before me; and if you bring forth the precious words and not the vile, you shall be as my mouth, says the LORD; the people shall turn to you; but you shall not turn to them. [19]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, If thou returnH7725[H8799], then will I bring thee againH7725[H8686], and thou shalt standH5975[H8799] beforeH6440 me: and if thou take forthH3318[H8686] the preciousH3368 from the vileH2151[H8802], thou shalt be as my mouthH6310: let them returnH7725[H8799] unto thee; but returnH7725 not thou unto themH8799.
[20]I have made you to this people as a fortified wall of brass; and they shall fight against you. but they shall not prevail; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says the LORD. [20]And I will makeH5414[H8804] thee unto this peopleH5971 a fencedH1219[H8803] brasenH5178 wallH2346: and they shall fightH3898[H8738] against thee, but they shall not prevailH3201[H8799] against thee: for I am with thee to saveH3467[H8687] thee and to deliverH5337[H8687] thee, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068.
[21]And I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will save you from the hand of the mighty [21]And I will deliverH5337[H8689] thee out of the handH3027 of the wickedH7451, and I will redeemH6299[H8804] thee out of the handH3709 of the terribleH6184.
