| [1]The wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came also unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[1]And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying: |
| [2]Thou shalt not takeH3947[H8799] thee a wifeH802, neither shalt thou have sonsH1121 or daughtersH1323 in this placeH4725. |
[2]Thou dost not take to thee a wife, Nor hast thou sons and daughters in this place. |
| [3]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 concerning the sonsH1121 and concerning the daughtersH1323 that are bornH3205[H8688] in this placeH4725, and concerning their mothersH517 that bareH3205[H8802] them, and concerning their fathersH1 that begatH3209 them in this landH776; |
[3]For thus said Jehovah, Of the sons and of the daughters who are born in this place, And of their mothers -- those bearing them, And of their fathers -- those begetting them in this land: |
| [4]They shall dieH4191[H8799] of grievousH8463 deathsH4463; they shall not be lamentedH5594[H8735]; neither shall they be buriedH6912[H8735]; but they shall be as dungH1828 upon the faceH6440 of the earthH127: and they shall be consumedH3615[H8799] by the swordH2719, and by famineH7458; and their carcasesH5038 shall be meatH3978 for the fowlsH5775 of heavenH8064, and for the beastsH929 of the earthH776. |
[4]Of painful deaths they die, They are not lamented, nor are they buried, For dung on the face of the ground they are, And by sword and by famine are consumed, And their carcase hath been for food To the fowl of the heavens, And to the beast of the earth. |
| [5]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, EnterH935[H8799] not into the houseH1004 of mourningH4798, neither goH3212[H8799] to lamentH5594[H8800] nor bemoanH5110[H8799] them: for I have taken awayH622[H8804] my peaceH7965 from this peopleH5971, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, even lovingkindnessH2617 and merciesH7356. |
[5]For thus said Jehovah: Do not enter the house of a mourning-feast, Nor go to lament nor bemoan for them, For I have removed My peace from this people, An affirmation of Jehovah, The kindness and the mercies. |
| [6]Both the greatH1419 and the smallH6996 shall dieH4191[H8804] in this landH776: they shall not be buriedH6912[H8735], neither shall men lamentH5594[H8799] for them, nor cutH1413[H8704] themselves, nor make themselves baldH7139 for themH8735: |
[6]And died have great and small in this land, They are not buried, and none lament for them, Nor doth any cut himself, nor become bald for them. |
| [7]Neither shall men tearH6536[H8799] themselves for them in mourningH60, to comfortH5162[H8763] them for the deadH4191[H8801]; neither shall men give them the cupH3563 of consolationH8575 to drinkH8248[H8686] for their fatherH1 or for their motherH517. |
[7]Nor do they deal out to them for mourning, To comfort him concerning the dead, Nor cause them to drink a cup of consolations For his father and for his mother. |
| [8]Thou shalt not also goH935[H8799] into the houseH1004 of feastingH4960, to sitH3427[H8800] with them to eatH398[H8800] and to drinkH8354.[H8800] |
[8]A house of banqueting thou dost not enter, To sit with them, to eat and to drink, |
| [9]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Behold, I will cause to ceaseH7673[H8688] out of this placeH4725 in your eyesH5869, and in your daysH3117, the voiceH6963 of mirthH8342, and the voiceH6963 of gladnessH8057, the voiceH6963 of the bridegroomH2860, and the voiceH6963 of the brideH3618. |
[9]For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am causing to cease from this place, Before your eyes, and in your days, The voice of joy, and the voice of rejoicing, The voice of bridegroom and voice of bride. |
| [10]And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shewH5046[H8686] this peopleH5971 all these wordsH1697, and they shall sayH559[H8804] unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORDH3068 pronouncedH1696[H8765] all this greatH1419 evilH7451 against us? or what is our iniquityH5771? or what is our sinH2403 that we have committedH2398[H8804] against the LORDH3068 our GodH430? |
[10]And it hath come to pass when thou declarest to this people all these words, and they have said unto thee, `For what hath Jehovah spoken against us all this great evil? yea, what [is] our iniquity, and what our sin, that we have sinned against Jehovah our God?' |
| [11]Then shalt thou sayH559[H8804] unto them, Because your fathersH1 have forsakenH5800[H8804] me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, and have walkedH3212[H8799] afterH310 otherH312 godsH430, and have servedH5647[H8799] them, and have worshippedH7812[H8691] them, and have forsakenH5800[H8804] me, and have not keptH8104[H8804] my lawH8451; |
[11]Then thou hast said unto them: Because that your fathers have forsaken Me, An affirmation of Jehovah, And go after other gods, and serve them, And they bow themselves to them, And Me have forsaken, and My law not kept, |
| [12]And ye have doneH6213[H8800] worseH7489[H8689] than your fathersH1; for, beholdH2009, ye walkH1980[H8802] every oneH376 afterH310 the imaginationH8307 of his evilH7451 heartH3820, that they may not hearkenH8085 unto meH8800: |
[12]Ye also have done evil above your fathers, And lo, ye are walking each after the stubbornness of his evil heart, So as not to hearken unto Me. |
| [13]Therefore will I castH2904[H8689] you out of this landH776 into a landH776 that ye knowH3045[H8804] not, neither ye nor your fathersH1; and there shall ye serveH5647[H8804] otherH312 godsH430 dayH3119 and nightH3915; where I will not shewH5414[H8799] you favourH2594. |
[13]And I have cast you from off this land, On to a land that ye have not known, Ye and your fathers, And ye have served there other gods by day and by night, Where I do not give to you grace. |
| [14]Therefore, behold, the daysH3117 comeH935[H8802], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, that it shall no more be saidH559[H8735], The LORDH3068 livethH2416, that brought upH5927[H8689] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714; |
[14]Therefore, lo, days are coming, An affirmation of Jehovah, And it is not said any more: `Jehovah liveth, who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt,' |
| [15]But, The LORDH3068 livethH2416, that brought upH5927[H8689] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 from the landH776 of the northH6828, and from all the landsH776 whither he had drivenH5080[H8689] them: and I will bring them againH7725[H8689] into their landH127 that I gaveH5414[H8804] unto their fathersH1. |
[15]But, `Jehovah liveth, who brought up The sons of Israel out of the land of the north, And out of all the lands whither He drove them,' And I have brought them back to their land, That I gave to their fathers. |
| [16]Behold, I will sendH7971[H8802] for manyH7227 fishersH1771[H8675][H1728], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, and they shall fishH1770[H8804] them; and afterH310 will I sendH7971[H8799] for manyH7227 huntersH6719, and they shall huntH6679[H8804] them from every mountainH2022, and from every hillH1389, and out of the holesH5357 of the rocksH5553. |
[16]Lo, I am sending for many fishers, An affirmation of Jehovah, And they have fished them, And after this I send for many hunters, And they have hunted them from off every mountain, And from off every hill, and from holes of the rocks. |
| [17]For mine eyesH5869 are upon all their waysH1870: they are not hidH5641[H8738] from my faceH6440, neither is their iniquityH5771 hidH6845[H8738] fromH5048 mine eyesH5869. |
[17]For Mine eyes [are] upon all their ways, They have not been hidden from My face, Nor hath their iniquity been concealed from before Mine eyes. |
| [18]And firstH7223 I will recompenseH7999[H8765] their iniquityH5771 and their sinH2403 doubleH4932; because they have defiledH2490[H8763] my landH776, they have filledH4390[H8804] mine inheritanceH5159 with the carcasesH5038 of their detestableH8251 and abominable thingsH8441. |
[18]And I have recompensed a first -- A second time -- their iniquity and their sin, Because of their polluting My land, With the carcase of their detestable things, Yea, their abominable things have filled Mine inheritance. |
| [19]O LORDH3068, my strengthH5797, and my fortressH4581, and my refugeH4498 in the dayH3117 of afflictionH6869, the GentilesH1471 shall comeH935[H8799] unto thee from the endsH657 of the earthH776, and shall sayH559[H8799], Surely our fathersH1 have inheritedH5157[H8804] liesH8267, vanityH1892, and things wherein there is no profitH3276.[H8688] |
[19]O Jehovah, my strength, and my fortress, And my refuge in a day of adversity, Unto Thee nations do come from the ends of earth, And say, Only falsehood did our fathers inherit, Vanity, and none among them is profitable. |
| [20]Shall a manH120 makeH6213[H8799] godsH430 unto himself, and they are no godsH430? |
[20]Doth man make for himself gods, And they -- no gods? |
| [21]Therefore, behold, I will this onceH6471 cause them to knowH3045[H8688], I will cause them to knowH3045[H8686] mine handH3027 and my mightH1369; and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that my nameH8034 is The LORDH3068. |
[21]Therefore, lo, I am causing them to know at this time, I cause them to know My hand and My might, And they have known that My name [is] Jehovah! |
