[1]Now Paschor the son of Emmer, the priest, who also had been appointed chief of the house of the Lord, heard Jeremias prophesying these words. |
| [2]καίC πατάσσωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASM καίC ἐνβάλλωVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASM εἰςP ὁRA-ASM καταρράκτηςN1M-ASM ὅςRR-NSM εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἐνP πύληN1-DSF οἶκοςN2-GSM ἀποτάσσωVK-XMPGSM ὁRA-GSN ὑπερῷονN2N-GSN ὅςRR-NSN εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἐνP οἶκοςN2-DSM κύριοςN2-GSM |
[2]And he smote him, and cast him into the dungeon which was by the gate of the upper house that was set apart, which was by the house of the Lord. |
| [3]καίC ἐκἄγωVBI-AAI3S *πασχωρN--NSM ὁRA-ASM *ἰερεμίαςN1T-ASM ἐκP ὁRA-GSM καταρράκτηςN1M-GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DSM *ἰερεμίαςN1T-NSM οὐD *πασχωρN--ASM καλέωVAI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-ASN ὄνομαN3M-ASN σύRP-GS ἀλλάC ἤC μέτοικοςN2-ASM |
[3]And Paschor brought Jeremias out of the dungeon: and Jeremias said to him, The Lord has not called thy name Paschor, but Exile. |
| [4]διότιC ὅδεRD-APN λέγωV1-PAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἰδούI ἐγώRP-NS δίδωμιV8-PAI1S σύRP-AS εἰςP μετοικίαN1A-ASF σύνP πᾶςA3-DPM ὁRA-DPM φίλοςA1-DPM σύRP-GS καίC πίπτωVF2-FMI3P ἐνP μάχαιραN1A-DSF ἐχθρόςN2-GPM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC ὁRA-NPM ὀφθαλμόςN2-NPM σύRP-GS ὁράωVF-FMI3P καίC σύRP-AS καίC πᾶςA3-ASM *ἰούδαςN1T-ASM δίδωμιVF-FAI1S εἰςP χείρN3-APF βασιλεύςN3V-GSM *βαβυλώνN3W-GSF καίC μεταοἰκίζωVF-FAI3P αὐτόςRD-APM καίC κατακόπτωVF-FAI3P αὐτόςRD-APM ἐνP μάχαιραN1-DPF |
[4]For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will give thee up to captivity with all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall see it: and I will give thee and all Juda into the hands of the king of Babylon, and they shall carry them captives, and cut them in pieces with swords. |
| [5]καίC δίδωμιVF-FAI1S ὁRA-ASF πᾶςA1S-ASF ἰσχύςN3-ASF ὁRA-GSF πόλιςN3I-GSF οὗτοςRD-GSF καίC πᾶςA3-APM ὁRA-APM πόνοςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GSF καίC πᾶςA3-APM ὁRA-APM θησαυρόςN2-APM ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM *ιουδαN--GSM εἰςP χείρN3-APF ἐχθρόςN2-GPM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC ἄγωVF-FAI3P αὐτόςRD-APM εἰςP *βαβυλώνN3W-ASF |
[5]And I will give all the strength of this city, and all the labours of it, and all the treasures of the king of Juda, into the hands of his enemies, and they shall bring them to Babylon. |
| [6]καίC σύRP-NS καίC πᾶςA3-NPM ὁRA-NPM καταοἰκέωV2-PAPNPM ἐνP ὁRA-DSM οἶκοςN2-DSM σύRP-GS πορεύομαιVF-FMI2P ἐνP αἰχμαλωσίαN1A-DSF καίC ἐνP *βαβυλώνN3W-DSF ἀποθνήσκωVF2-FMI2S καίC ἐκεῖD θάπτωVF-FMI2S σύRP-NS καίC πᾶςA3-NPM ὁRA-NPM φίλοςA1-NPM σύRP-GS ὅςRR-DPM προφητεύωVAI-AAI2S αὐτόςRD-DPM ψευδήςA3H-APN |
[6]And thou and all the dwellers in thine house shall go into captivity: and thou shalt die in Babylon, and there thou and all thy friends shall be buried, to whom thou hast prophesied lies. |
| [7]ἀπατάωVAI-AAI2S ἐγώRP-AS κύριοςN2-VSM καίC ἀπατάωVCI-API1S κρατέωVAI-AAI2S καίC δύναμαιVSI-API2S γίγνομαιVBI-AMI1S εἰςP γέλωςN3T-ASM πᾶςA1S-ASF ἡμέραN1A-ASF διατελέωVAI-AAI1S μυκτηρίζωV1-PPPNSM |
[7]Thou hast deceived me, O Lord, and I have been deceived: thou hast been strong, and has prevailed: I am become a laughing-stock, I am continually mocked every day. |
| [8]ὅτιC πικρόςA1A-DSM λόγοςN2-DSM ἐγώRP-GS γελάωVF-FMI1S ἀθεσίαN1A-ASF καίC ταλαιπωρίαN1A-ASF ἐπικαλέωVF-FMI1S ὅτιC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S λόγοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM εἰςP ὀνειδισμόςN2-ASM ἐγώRP-DS καίC εἰςP χλευασμόςN2-ASM πᾶςA1S-ASF ἡμέραN1A-ASF ἐγώRP-GS |
[8]For I will laugh with my bitter speech, I will call upon rebellion and misery: for the word of the Lord is become a reproach to me and a mockery all my days. |
| [9]καίC εἶπονVAI-AAI1S οὐD μήD ὀνομάζωVF-FAI1S ὁRA-ASN ὄνομαN3M-ASN κύριοςN2-GSM καίC οὐD μήD λαλέωVF-FAI1S ἔτιD ἐπίP ὁRA-DSN ὄνομαN3M-DSN αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S ὡςC πῦρN3-NSN καίωV1-PMPNSN φλέγωV1-PAPNSN ἐνP ὁRA-DPN ὀστέονN2N-DPN ἐγώRP-GS καίC παραἵημιVM-XMI1S πάντοθενD καίC οὐD δύναμαιV6-PMI1S φέρωV1-PAN |
[9]Then I said, I will by no means name the name of the Lord, and I will no more at all speak in his name. But it was a burning fire flaming in my bones, and I am utterly weakened on all sides, and cannot bear up. |
| [10]ὅτιC ἀκούωVAI-AAI1S ψόγοςN2-ASM πολύςA1-GPM συνἀθροίζωV1-PMPGPM κυκλόθενD ἐπι συνἵστημιVH-AAD2P καίC ἐπι συνἵστημιVH-AAS1P αὐτόςRD-DSM πᾶςA3-NPM ἀνήρN3-NPM φίλοςA1-NPM αὐτόςRD-GSM τηρέωVA-AAD2P ὁRA-ASF ἐπίνοιαN1A-ASF αὐτόςRD-GSM εἰC ἀπατάωVC-FPI3S καίC δύναμαιVF-FMI1P αὐτόςRD-DSM καίC λαμβάνωVF-FMI1P ὁRA-ASF ἐκδίκησιςN3I-ASF ἐγώRP-GP ἐκP αὐτόςRD-GSM |
[10]For I have heard the reproach of many gathering round, saying, Conspire ye, and let us conspire together against him, even all his friends: watch his intentions, if perhaps he shall be deceived, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall be avenged on him. |
| [11]καίC κύριοςN2-NSM μετάP ἐγώRP-GS καθώςD μαχητήςN1M-NSM ἰσχύςN3U-GPF διάP οὗτοςRD-ASN διώκωVAI-AAI3P καίC νοέωVA-AAN οὐD δύναμαιV6I-IMI3P αἰσχύνωVCI-API3P σφόδραD ὅτιC οὐD νοέωVAI-AAI3P ἀτιμίαN1A-APF αὐτόςRD-GPM ὅςRR-NPF διάP αἰώνN3W-GSM οὐD ἐπιλανθάνωVC-FPI3P |
[11]But the Lord was with me as a mighty man of war: therefore they persecuted me, but could not perceive anything against me; they were greatly confounded, for they perceived not their disgrace, which shall never be forgotten. |

[12]O Lord, that provest just deeds, understanding the reins and hearts, let me see thy vengeance upon them: for to thee I have revealed my cause. |

[13]Sing ye to the Lord, sing praise to him: for he has rescued the soul of the poor from the hand of evil-doers. |

[14]Cursed be the day wherein I was born: the day wherein my mother brought me forth, let it not be blessed. |

[15]Cursed be the man who brought the glad tidings to my father, saying, A male child is born to thee. |

[16]Let that man rejoice as the cities which the Lord overthrew in wrath, and repented not: let him hear crying in the morning, and loud lamentation at noon; |

[17]because he slew me not in the womb, and my mother became not my tomb, and her womb always great with me. |

[18]Why is it that I came forth of the womb to see troubles and distresses, and my days are spent in shame? |
