[1]In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah in the tenth month, came Nebuchad-nezzar king of Babylon and all his host against Jerusalem, and they besieged it. |
| [2]And in the eleventhH6249[H6240] yearH8141 of ZedekiahH6667, in the fourthH7243 monthH2320, the ninthH8672 day of the monthH2320, the cityH5892 was broken upH1234.[H8717] |
[2]And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up. |
| [3]And all the princesH8269 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 came inH935[H8799], and satH3427[H8799] in the middleH8432 gateH8179, even NergalsharezerH5371, SamgarneboH5562, SarsechimH8310, RabsarisH7249, NergalsharezerH5371, RabmagH7248, with all the residueH7611 of the princesH8269 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894. |
[3]And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, even Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergalsharezer, Rab-mag with all the residue of the princes of the king of Babylon. |
| [4]And it came to pass, that when ZedekiahH6667 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sawH7200[H8804] them, and all the menH582 of warH4421, then they fledH1272[H8799], and went forthH3318[H8799] out of the cityH5892 by nightH3915, by the wayH1870 of the king'sH4428 gardenH1588, by the gateH8179 betwixt the two wallsH2346: and he went outH3318[H8799] the wayH1870 of the plainH6160. |
[4]And when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went out of the city by night, through the king's garden, and by the gate between the two walls, and he went toward the wilderness. |
| [5]But the Chaldeans'H3778 armyH2428 pursuedH7291[H8799] afterH310 them, and overtookH5381[H8686] ZedekiahH6667 in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405: and when they had takenH3947[H8799] him, they brought him upH5927[H8686] to NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574, where he gaveH1696[H8762] judgment upon himH4941. |
[5]But the Chaldean's host pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the desert of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him to Nebuchad-nezzar king of Babylon unto Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him. |
| [6]Then the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819[H8799] the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 in RiblahH7247 before his eyesH5869: also the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 slewH7819[H8804] all the noblesH2715 of JudahH3063. |
[6]Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah. |
| [7]Moreover he put outH5786[H8765] Zedekiah'sH6667 eyesH5869, and boundH631[H8799] him with chainsH5178, to carryH935[H8687] him to BabylonH894. |
[7]Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him in chains, to carry him to Babylon. |
| [8]And the ChaldeansH3778 burnedH8313[H8804] the king'sH4428 houseH1004, and the housesH1004 of the peopleH5971, with fireH784, and brake downH5422[H8804] the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389. |
[8]And the Chaldeans burned the king's house, and the houses of the people with fire, and broke down the walls of Jerusalem. |
| [9]Then NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 carried away captiveH1540[H8689] into BabylonH894 the remnantH3499 of the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604[H8737] in the cityH5892, and those that fell awayH5307[H8802], that fellH5307[H8804] to him, with the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604.[H8737] |
[9]Then Neb-uzar-adan the chief steward carried away captive into Babylon the remnant of the people, that remained in the city, and those that were fled and fallen unto him, with the rest of the people that remained. |
| [10]But NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 leftH7604[H8689] of the poorH1800 of the peopleH5971, which had nothingH3972, in the landH776 of JudahH3063, and gaveH5414[H8799] them vineyardsH3754 and fieldsH3010 at the same timeH3117. |
[10]But Neb-uzar-adan the chief steward left the poor that had nothing in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time. |
| [11]Now NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 gave chargeH6680[H8762] concerning JeremiahH3414 toH3027 NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[11]Now Nebuchad-nezzar king of Babylon gave charge concerning Jeremiah unto Neb-uzar-adan the chief steward, saying, |
| [12]TakeH3947[H8798] him, and look wellH5869[H7760][H8798] to him, and doH6213[H8799] him no harmH3972[H7451]; but doH6213[H8798] unto him even as he shall sayH1696 unto theeH8762. |
[12]Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm, but do unto him even as he shall say unto thee. |
| [13]So NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 sentH7971[H8799], and NebushasbanH5021, RabsarisH7249, and NergalsharezerH5371, RabmagH7248, and all the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 princesH7227; |
[13]So Neb-uzar-adan the chief steward sent, and Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal-sharezar, Rab-mag, and all the king of Babylon's princes: |
| [14]Even they sentH7971[H8799], and tookH3947[H8799] JeremiahH3414 out of the courtH2691 of the prisonH4307, and committedH5414[H8799] him unto GedaliahH1436 the sonH1121 of AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, that he should carryH3318[H8687] him homeH1004: so he dweltH3427[H8799] amongH8432 the peopleH5971. |
[14]Even they sent, and took Jeremiah out of the court of the prison, and committed him unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people. |
| [15]Now the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto JeremiahH3414, while he was shut upH6113[H8803] in the courtH2691 of the prisonH4307, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[15]Now the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah, while he was shut up in the court of the prison, saying, |
| [16]GoH1980[H8800] and speakH559[H8804] to EbedmelechH5663 the EthiopianH3569, sayingH559[H8800], Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Behold, I will bringH935[H8688] my wordsH1697 upon this cityH5892 for evilH7451, and not for goodH2896; and they shall be accomplished in that dayH3117 before theeH6440. |
[16]Go and speak to Ebed-melech the black Moor [Ethiopian] , saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good, and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee. |
| [17]But I will deliverH5337[H8689] thee in that dayH3117, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068: and thou shalt not be givenH5414[H8735] into the handH3027 of the menH582 of whomH6440 thou art afraidH3016.[H8801] |
[17]But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the Lord, and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men whom thou fearest. |
| [18]For I will surelyH4422[H8763] deliverH4422[H8762] thee, and thou shalt not fallH5307[H8799] by the swordH2719, but thy lifeH5315 shall be for a preyH7998 unto thee: because thou hast put thy trustH982[H8804] in me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[18]For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee, because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord. |
