[1]Of the children of Ammon. Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Hath Israel no sons? Hath he no heir? Why then doth Malcam take possession of Gad, and his people dwell in the cities thereof? |
| [2]Therefore, behold, the daysH3117 comeH935[H8802], saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, that I will cause an alarmH8643 of warH4421 to be heardH8085[H8689] in RabbahH7237 of the AmmonitesH1121[H5983]; and it shall be a desolateH8077 heapH8510, and her daughtersH1323 shall be burnedH3341[H8799] with fireH784: then shall IsraelH3478 be heirH3423[H8804] unto them that were his heirsH3423[H8802], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[2]Therefore, behold, the days come, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate mound, and her daughters shall be burned with fire; then shall Israel dispossess them that did dispossess him, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |

[3]Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai undone; cry, ye daughters of Rabbah, gird you with sackcloth; lament, and run to and fro among the folds; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together. |

[4]Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that didst trust in thy treasures: 'Who shall come unto me?' |

[5]Behold, I will bring a terror upon thee, saith the Lord 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts, from all that are round about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth, and there shall be none to gather up him that wandereth. |

[6]But afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |

[7]Of Edom. Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Is counsel perished from the prudent? Is their wisdom vanished? |
| [8]FleeH5127[H8798] ye, turn backH6437[H8717], dwellH3427[H8800] deepH6009[H8689], O inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of DedanH1719; for I will bringH935[H8689] the calamityH343 of EsauH6215 upon him, the timeH6256 that I will visitH6485 himH8804. |
[8]Flee ye, turn back, dwell deep, inhabitants of Dedan; for I do bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I shall punish him. |

[9]If grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, would they not destroy till they had enough? |
| [10]But I have made EsauH6215 bareH2834[H8804], I have uncoveredH1540[H8765] his secret placesH4565, and he shall not be ableH3201[H8799] to hideH2247[H8736] himself: his seedH2233 is spoiledH7703[H8795], and his brethrenH251, and his neighbours, and he is notH7934. |
[10]But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself; his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and h neighbours, and he is not. |
| [11]LeaveH5800[H8798] thy fatherless childrenH3490, I will preserve them aliveH2421[H8762]; and let thy widowsH490 trustH982 in meH8799. |
[11]Leave thy fatherless children, I will rear them, and let thy widows trust in Me. |
| [12]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; Behold, they whose judgmentH4941 was not to drinkH8354[H8800] of the cupH3563 have assuredlyH8354[H8800] drunkenH8354[H8799]; and art thou he that shall altogetherH5352[H8800] go unpunishedH5352[H8735]? thou shalt not go unpunishedH5352[H8735], but thou shalt surelyH8354[H8800] drinkH8354 of itH8799. |
[12]For thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Behold, they to whom it pertained not to drink of the cup shall assuredly drink; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink. |
| [13]For I have swornH7650[H8738] by myself, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, that BozrahH1224 shall become a desolationH8047, a reproachH2781, a wasteH2721, and a curseH7045; and all the citiesH5892 thereof shall be perpetualH5769 wastesH2723. |
[13]For I have sworn by Myself, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, that Bozrah shall becom astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. |
| [14]I have heardH8085[H8804] a rumourH8052 from the LORDH3068, and an ambassadorH6735 is sentH7971[H8803] unto the heathenH1471, saying, Gather ye togetherH6908[H8690], and comeH935[H8798] against her, and rise upH6965[H8798] to the battleH4421. |
[14]I have heard a message from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and an ambassador is sent among the nations: 'Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.' |
| [15]For, lo, I will makeH5414[H8804] thee smallH6996 among the heathenH1471, and despisedH959[H8803] among menH120. |
[15]For, behold, I make thee small among the nations, and despised among men. |
| [16]Thy terriblenessH8606 hath deceivedH5377[H8689] thee, and the prideH2087 of thine heartH3820, O thou that dwellestH7931[H8802] in the cleftsH2288 of the rockH5553, that holdestH8610[H8802] the heightH4791 of the hillH1389: though thou shouldest make thy nestH7064 as highH1361[H8686] as the eagleH5404, I will bring thee downH3381[H8686] from thence, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[16]Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, even the pride of thy heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill; though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
| [17]Also EdomH123 shall be a desolationH8047: every one that goethH5674[H8802] by it shall be astonishedH8074[H8799], and shall hissH8319[H8799] at all the plagues thereofH4347. |
[17]And Edom shall become an astonishment; every one that passeth by it shall be astonished and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. |
| [18]As in the overthrowH4114 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017 and the neighbourH7934 cities thereof, saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, no manH376 shall abideH3427[H8799] there, neither shall a sonH1121 of manH120 dwellH1481 in itH8799. |
[18]As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, no man shall abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. |
| [19]Behold, he shall come upH5927[H8799] like a lionH738 from the swellingH1347 of JordanH3383 against the habitationH5116 of the strongH386: but I will suddenlyH7280[H8686] make him run awayH7323[H8686] from her: and who is a chosenH977[H8803] man, that I may appointH6485[H8799] over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the timeH3259[H8686]? and who is that shepherdH7462[H8802] that will standH5975[H8799] before meH6440? |
[19]Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the thickets of the Jordan against the strong habitation; for I will suddenly make him run away from it, and whoso is chosen, him will I appoint over it; for who is like Me? and who will appoint Me a time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before Me? |
| [20]Therefore hearH8085[H8798] the counselH6098 of the LORDH3068, that he hath takenH3289[H8804] against EdomH123; and his purposesH4284, that he hath purposedH2803[H8804] against the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of TemanH8487: Surely the leastH6810 of the flockH6629 shall draw them outH5498[H8799]: surely he shall make their habitationsH5116 desolateH8074 with themH8686. |
[20]Therefore hear ye the counsel of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, that He hath taken against Edom; and His purposes, that He hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely the least of the flock shall drag them away, surely their habitation shall be appalled at them. |

[21]The earth quaketh at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise whereof is heard in the Red Sea. |

[22]Behold, he shall come up and swoop down as the vulture, and spread out his wings against Bozrah; and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs. |

[23]Of Damascus. Hamath is ashamed, and Arpad; for they have heard evil tidings, they are melted away; there is trouble in the sea; it cannot be quiet. |
| [24]DamascusH1834 is waxed feebleH7503[H8804], and turnethH6437[H8689] herself to fleeH5127[H8800], and fearH7374 hath seizedH2388[H8689] on her: anguishH6869 and sorrowsH2256 have takenH270[H8804] her, as a woman in travailH3205.[H8802] |
[24]Damascus is waxed feeble, she turneth herself to flee, and trembling hath seized on her; anguish and pangs have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail. |
| [25]How is the cityH5892 of praiseH8416 not leftH5800[H8795], the cityH7151 of my joyH4885! |
[25]'How is the city of praise left unrepaired, the city of my joy?' |
| [26]Therefore her young menH970 shall fallH5307[H8799] in her streetsH7339, and all the menH582 of warH4421 shall be cut offH1826[H8735] in that dayH3117, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635. |
[26]Therefore her young men shall fall in her broad places, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts. |
| [27]And I will kindleH3341[H8689] a fireH784 in the wallH2346 of DamascusH1834, and it shall consumeH398[H8804] the palacesH759 of BenhadadH1130. |
[27]And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-hadad. |
| [28]Concerning KedarH6938, and concerning the kingdomsH4467 of HazorH2674, which NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 shall smiteH5221[H8689], thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; AriseH6965[H8798] ye, go upH5927[H8798] to KedarH6938, and spoilH7703[H8798] the menH1121 of the eastH6924. |
[28]Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote. Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Arise ye, go up against Kedar, and spoil the children of the east. |
| [29]Their tentsH168 and their flocksH6629 shall they take awayH3947[H8799]: they shall takeH5375[H8799] to themselves their curtainsH3407, and all their vesselsH3627, and their camelsH1581; and they shall cryH7121[H8804] unto them, FearH4032 is on every sideH5439. |
[29]Their tents and their flocks shall they take, they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall proclaim against them a terror on every side. |

[30]Flee ye, flit far off, dwell deep, O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath taken counsel against you, and hath conceived a purpose against you. |
| [31]AriseH6965[H8798], get you upH5927[H8798] unto the wealthyH7961 nationH1471, that dwellethH3427[H8802] without careH983, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, which have neither gatesH1817 nor barsH1280, which dwellH7931[H8799] aloneH910. |
[31]Arise, get you up against a nation that is at ease, that dwelleth without care, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone. |
| [32]And their camelsH1581 shall be a bootyH957, and the multitudeH1995 of their cattleH4735 a spoilH7998: and I will scatterH2219[H8765] into all windsH7307 them that are in the utmostH7112[H8803] cornersH6285; and I will bringH935[H8686] their calamityH343 from all sidesH5676 thereof, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[32]And their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their cattle a spoil; and I will scatter unto all winds them that have the corners polled; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
| [33]And HazorH2674 shall be a dwellingH4583 for dragonsH8577, and a desolationH8077 forH5704 everH5769: there shall no manH376 abideH3427[H8799] there, nor any sonH1121 of manH120 dwellH1481 in itH8799. |
[33]And Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever; no man shall abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. |

[34]The word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying: |
| [35]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635; Behold, I will breakH7665[H8799] the bowH7198 of ElamH5867, the chiefH7225 of their mightH1369. |
[35]Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 of hosts: behold, I will break the bow of Elam the chief of their might. |
| [36]And upon ElamH5867 will I bringH935[H8689] the fourH702 windsH7307 from the fourH702 quartersH7098 of heavenH8064, and will scatterH2219[H8765] them toward all those windsH7307; and there shall be no nationH1471 whither the outcastsH5080[H8737] of ElamH5867[H8675][H5769] shall not comeH935.[H8799] |
[36]And I will bring against Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the dispersed of Elam shall not come. |

[37]And I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life; and I will bring evil upon them, even My fierce anger, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; and I will send the sword after them, till I hav consumed them; |
| [38]And I will setH7760[H8804] my throneH3678 in ElamH5867, and will destroyH6[H8689] from thence the kingH4428 and the princesH8269, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[38]And I will set My throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence king and princes, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
| [39]But it shall come to pass in the latterH319 daysH3117, that I will bring againH7725[H8686][H8675][H7725][H8799] the captivityH7622[H8675][H7622] of ElamH5867, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[39]But it shall come to pass in the end of days, that I will bring back the captivity of Elam, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
