|
[1]Oh thatH5414[H8799] my headH7218 were watersH4325, and mine eyesH5869 a fountainH4726 of tearsH1832, that I might weepH1058[H8799] dayH3119 and nightH3915 for the slainH2491 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971! |
[1]Oh, that mine head were full of water and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people. |
[2]Oh thatH5414[H8799] I had in the wildernessH4057 a lodging placeH4411 of wayfaring menH732[H8802]; that I might leaveH5800[H8799] my peopleH5971, and goH3212[H8799] from them! for they be all adulterersH5003[H8764], an assemblyH6116 of treacherous menH898.[H8802] |
[2]Oh, that I had in the wilderness a cottage of wayfaring men that I might leave my people, and go from them: for they be all adulterers and an assembly of rebels, |
[3]And they bendH1869[H8686] their tonguesH3956 like their bowH7198 for liesH8267: but they are not valiantH1396[H8804] for the truthH530 upon the earthH776; for they proceedH3318[H8804] from evilH7451 to evilH7451, and they knowH3045[H8804] not me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[3]And they bend their tongues like their bows for lies: but they have no courage for the truth upon the earth: for they proceed from evil to worse, and they have not known me, saith the Lord. |
[4]Take ye heedH8104[H8734] every oneH376 of his neighbourH7453, and trustH982[H8799] ye not in any brotherH251: for every brotherH251 will utterlyH6117[H8800] supplantH6117[H8799], and every neighbourH7453 will walkH1980[H8799] with slandersH7400. |
[4]Let every one take heed of his neighbor, and trust you not in any brother: for every brother will use deceit, and every friend will deal deceitfully, |
[5]And they will deceiveH2048[H8762] every oneH376 his neighbourH7453, and will not speakH1696[H8762] the truthH571: they have taughtH3925[H8765] their tongueH3956 to speakH1696[H8763] liesH8267, and wearyH3811[H8738] themselves to commit iniquityH5753.[H8687] |
[5]And every one will deceive his friend, and will not speak the truth: for they have taught their tongues to speak lies, and take great pains to do wickedly. |
[6]Thine habitationH3427[H8800] is in the midstH8432 of deceitH4820; through deceitH4820 they refuseH3985[H8765] to knowH3045[H8800] me, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[6]Thine habitation is in the midst of deceivers: because of their deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord. |
[7]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, Behold, I will meltH6884[H8802] them, and tryH974[H8804] them; for how shall I doH6213[H8799] forH6440 the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971? |
[7]Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them: for what should I else do for the daughter of my people? |
[8]Their tongueH3956 is as an arrowH2671 shot outH7819[H8803]; it speakethH1696[H8765] deceitH4820: one speakethH1696[H8762] peaceablyH7965 to his neighbourH7453 with his mouthH6310, but in heartH7130 he layethH7760[H8799] his waitH696. |
[8]Their tongue is as an arrow shot out, and speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he layeth wait for him. |
[9]Shall I not visitH6485[H8799] them for these things? saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068: shall not my soulH5315 be avengedH5358[H8691] on such a nation as thisH1471? |
[9]Shall I not visit them for these things, saith the Lord? Or shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? |
[10]For the mountainsH2022 will I take upH5375[H8799] a weepingH1065 and wailingH5092, and for the habitationsH4999 of the wildernessH4057 a lamentationH7015, because they are burned upH3341[H8738], so that noneH376 can passH5674[H8802] through them; neither can men hearH8085[H8804] the voiceH6963 of the cattleH4735; both the fowlH5775 of the heavensH8064 and the beastH929 are fledH5074[H8804]; they are goneH1980.[H8804] |
[10]Upon the mountains will I take up a weeping and a lamentation, and upon the fair places of the wilderness a mourning, because they are burned up: so that none can pass through them, neither can men hear the voice of the flock: both the fowl of the air, and the beast are fled away and gone. |
[11]And I will makeH5414[H8804] JerusalemH3389 heapsH1530, and a denH4583 of dragonsH8577; and I will makeH5414[H8799] the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 desolateH8077, without an inhabitantH3427.[H8802] |
[11]And I will make Jerusalem an heap, and a den of dragons, and I will make the cities of Judah waste, without an inhabitant. |
[12]Who is the wiseH2450 manH376, that may understandH995[H8799] this? and who is he to whom the mouthH6310 of the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696[H8765], that he may declareH5046[H8686] it, for what the landH776 perishethH6[H8804] and is burned upH3341[H8738] like a wildernessH4057, that none passeth throughH5674?[H8802] |
[12]Who is wise, to understand this? And to whom the mouth of the Lord hath spoken, even he shall declare it. Why doth the land perish, and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through? |
[13]And the LORDH3068 saithH559[H8799], Because they have forsakenH5800[H8800] my lawH8451 which I setH5414[H8804] beforeH6440 them, and have not obeyedH8085[H8804] my voiceH6963, neither walkedH1980 thereinH8804; |
[13]And the Lord saith, Because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked thereafter, |
[14]But have walkedH3212[H8799] afterH310 the imaginationH8307 of their own heartH3820, and afterH310 BaalimH1168, which their fathersH1 taughtH3925 themH8765: |
[14]But have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after Baalims, which their fathers taught them, |
[15]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Behold, I will feedH398[H8688] them, even this peopleH5971, with wormwoodH3939, and give them waterH4325 of gallH7219 to drinkH8248.[H8689] |
[15]Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed this people with wormwood, and give them waters of gall to drink: |
[16]I will scatterH6327[H8689] them also among the heathenH1471, whom neither they nor their fathersH1 have knownH3045[H8804]: and I will sendH7971[H8765] a swordH2719 afterH310 them, till I have consumedH3615 themH8763. |
[16]I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them. |
[17]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, ConsiderH995[H8708] ye, and callH7121[H8798] for the mourning womenH6969[H8789], that they may comeH935[H8799]; and sendH7971[H8798] for cunningH2450 women, that they may comeH935:[H8799] |
[17]Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Take heed, and call for the mourning women, that they may come, and send for skillful women that they may come, |
[18]And let them make hasteH4116[H8762], and take upH5375[H8799] a wailingH5092 for us, that our eyesH5869 may run downH3381[H8799] with tearsH1832, and our eyelidsH6079 gush outH5140[H8799] with watersH4325. |
[18]And let them make haste, and let them take up a lamentation for us, that our eyes may cast out tears and our eye lids gush out of water. |
[19]For a voiceH6963 of wailingH5092 is heardH8085[H8738] out of ZionH6726, How are we spoiledH7703[H8795]! we are greatlyH3966 confoundedH954[H8804], because we have forsakenH5800[H8804] the landH776, because our dwellingsH4908 have cast us outH7993.[H8689] |
[19]For a lamentable noise is heard out of Zion, How are we destroyed, and utterly confounded, for we have forsaken the land, and our dwellings have cast us out. |
[20]Yet hearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, O ye womenH802, and let your earH241 receiveH3947[H8799] the wordH1697 of his mouthH6310, and teachH3925[H8761] your daughtersH1323 wailingH5092, and every oneH802 her neighbourH7468 lamentationH7015. |
[20]Therefore hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ears regard the words of his mouth, and teach your daughters to mourn, and every one her neighbor to lament. |
[21]For deathH4194 is come upH5927[H8804] into our windowsH2474, and is enteredH935[H8804] into our palacesH759, to cut offH3772[H8687] the childrenH5768 from withoutH2351, and the young menH970 from the streetsH7339. |
[21]For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to destroy the children without, and the young men in the streets. |
[22]SpeakH1696[H8761], Thus saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, Even the carcasesH5038 of menH120 shall fallH5307[H8804] as dungH1828 upon the openH6440 fieldH7704, and as the handfulH5995 afterH310 the harvestmanH7114[H8802], and none shall gatherH622 themH8764. |
[22]Speak, thus saith the Lord, The carcasses of men shall lie, even as the dung upon the field, and as the handful after the mower, and none shall gather them. |
[23]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, Let not the wiseH2450 man gloryH1984[H8691] in his wisdomH2451, neither let the mightyH1368 man gloryH1984[H8691] in his mightH1369, let not the richH6223 man gloryH1984[H8691] in his richesH6239: |
[23]Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, nor the strong man glory in his strength, neither the rich man glory in his riches. |
[24]But let him that gloriethH1984[H8693] gloryH1984[H8691] in this, that he understandethH7919[H8687] and knowethH3045[H8800] me, that I am the LORDH3068 which exerciseH6213[H8802] lovingkindnessH2617, judgmentH4941, and righteousnessH6666, in the earthH776: for in these things I delightH2654[H8804], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[24]But let him that glorieth, glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth me: for I am the Lord, which show mercy, judgment, and righteousness in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. |
[25]Behold, the daysH3117 comeH935[H8802], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, that I will punishH6485[H8804] all them which are circumcisedH4135[H8803] with the uncircumcisedH6190; |
[25]Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will visit all them, which are circumcised with the uncircumcised: |
[26]EgyptH4714, and JudahH3063, and EdomH123, and the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983, and MoabH4124, and all that are in the utmostH7112[H8803] cornersH6285, that dwellH3427[H8802] in the wildernessH4057: for all these nationsH1471 are uncircumcisedH6189, and all the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 are uncircumcisedH6189 in the heartH3820. |
[26]Egypt and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all the utmost corners of them that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart. |
