[1]προσθεὶς δὲ ελιους ἔτι λέγει [1]Elihu also proceeded and said,
[2]μεῖνόν με μικρὸν ἔτι ἵνα διδάξω σε ἔτι γὰρ ἐν ἐμοί ἐστιν λέξις [2]Suffer me a little, and I will instruct thee: for I have yet to speak on God's behalf.
[3]ἀναλαβὼν τὴν ἐπιστήμην μου μακρὰν ἔργοις δέ μου δίκαια ἐρῶ [3]I will fetch my knowledge afar off, and will attribute righteousness unto my maker.
[4]ἐπ ἀληθείας καὶ οὐκ ἄδικα ῥήματα ἀδίκως συνίεις [4]For truly my words shall not be false, and he that is perfect in knowledge, speaketh with thee.
[5]γίγνωσκε δὲ ὅτι ὁ κύριος οὐ μὴ ἀποποιήσηται τὸν ἄκακον δυνατὸς ἰσχύι καρδίας [5]Behold, the mighty God casteth away none that is mighty and valiant of courage.
[6]ἀσεβῆ οὐ μὴ ζωοποιήσει καὶ κρίμα πτωχῶν δώσει [6]He maintaineth not the wicked, but he giveth judgment to the afflicted.
[7]οὐκ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ δικαίου ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ μετὰ βασιλέων εἰς θρόνον καὶ καθιεῖ αὐτοὺς εἰς νεῖκος καὶ ὑψωθήσονται [7]He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but they are with kings in the throne, where he placeth them forever: thus they are exalted.
[8]καὶ εἰ πεπεδημένοι ἐν χειροπέδαις συσχεθήσονται ἐν σχοινίοις πενίας [8]And if they be bound in fetters and tied with the cords of affliction,
[9]καὶ ἀναγγελεῖ αὐτοῖς τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ παραπτώματα αὐτῶν ὅτι ἰσχύσουσιν [9]Then will he show them their work and their sins, because they have been proud.
[10]ἀλλὰ τοῦ δικαίου εἰσακούσεται καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐξ ἀδικίας [10]He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth them that they return from iniquity.
[11]ἐὰν ἀκούσωσιν καὶ δουλεύσωσιν συντελέσουσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτῶν ἐν ἀγαθοῖς καὶ τὰ ἔτη αὐτῶν ἐν εὐπρεπείαις [11]If they obey and serve him, they shall end their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
[12]ἀσεβεῖς δὲ οὐ διασῴζει παρὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι εἰδέναι αὐτοὺς τὸν κύριον καὶ διότι νουθετούμενοι ἀνήκοοι ἦσαν [12]But if they will not obey, they shall pass by the sword, and perish without knowledge.
[13]καὶ ὑποκριταὶ καρδίᾳ τάξουσιν θυμόν οὐ βοήσονται ὅτι ἔδησεν αὐτούς [13]But the hypocrites of heart increase the wrath: for they call not when he bindeth them.
[14]ἀποθάνοι τοίνυν ἐν νεότητι ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτῶν ἡ δὲ ζωὴ αὐτῶν τιτρωσκομένη ὑπὸ ἀγγέλων [14]Their soul dieth in youth, and their life among the whoremongers.
[15]ἀνθ ὧν ἔθλιψαν ἀσθενῆ καὶ ἀδύνατον κρίμα δὲ πραέων ἐκθήσει [15]He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ear in trouble.
[16]καὶ προσέτι ἠπάτησέν σε ἐκ στόματος ἐχθροῦ ἄβυσσος κατάχυσις ὑποκάτω αὐτῆς καὶ κατέβη τράπεζά σου πλήρης πιότητος [16]Even so would he have taken thee out of the straight place into a broad place and not shut up beneath: and that which resteth upon thy table, had been full of fat.
[17]οὐχ ὑστερήσει δὲ ἀπὸ δικαίων κρίμα [17]But thou art full of the judgment of the wicked , though judgment and equity maintain all things.
[18]θυμὸς δὲ ἐπ ἀσεβεῖς ἔσται δι ἀσέβειαν δώρων ὧν ἐδέχοντο ἐπ ἀδικίαις [18]For God's wrath is, lest he should take thee away in thine abundance: for no multitude of gifts can deliver thee.
He regardeth not gold, nor all them that excel in strength.
[20]μὴ ἐξελκύσῃς τὴν νύκτα τοῦ ἀναβῆναι λαοὺς ἀντ αὐτῶν [20]Be not careful in the night, how he destroyeth the people out of their place.
[21]ἀλλὰ φύλαξαι μὴ πράξῃς ἄτοπα ἐπὶ τοῦτον γὰρ ἐξείλω ἀπὸ πτωχείας [21]Take thou heed: look not to iniquity: for thou hast chosen it rather than affliction.
[22]ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς κραταιώσει ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ τίς γάρ ἐστιν κατ αὐτὸν δυνάστης [22]Behold, God exalteth by his power: what teacher is like him?
[23]τίς δέ ἐστιν ὁ ἐτάζων αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔργα ἢ τίς ὁ εἴπας ἔπραξεν ἄδικα [23]Who hath appointed to him his way? Or who can say, Thou hast done wickedly?
[24]μνήσθητι ὅτι μεγάλα ἐστὶν αὐτοῦ τὰ ἔργα ὧν ἦρξαν ἄνδρες [24]Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold.
[25]πᾶς ἄνθρωπος εἶδεν ἐν ἑαυτῷ ὅσοι τιτρωσκόμενοί εἰσιν βροτοί [25]All men see it, and men behold it afar off.
[26]ἰδοὺ ὁ ἰσχυρὸς πολύς καὶ οὐ γνωσόμεθα ἀριθμὸς ἐτῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέραντος [26]Behold, God is excellent, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
[27]ἀριθμηταὶ δὲ αὐτῷ σταγόνες ὑετοῦ καὶ ἐπιχυθήσονται ὑετῷ εἰς νεφέλην [27]When he restraineth the drops of water, the rain poureth down by the vapor thereof,
