[1]None is so fierce that dare stir him up. Who is he then that can stand before me? [1]Behold, the hope of him is in vain; shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
[2]Who hath prevented me that I should make an end? All under heaven is mine. [2]None is so fierce that dare stir him up; who then is able to stand before Me?
[3]I will not keep silence concerning his parts, nor his power nor his comely proportion. [3]Who hath given Me anyt beforehand, that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is Mine.
[4]Who can discover the face of his garment? Or who shall come to him with a double bridle? [4]Would I kee silence concerning his boastings, or his proud talk, or his fair array of words?
[5]Who shall open the doors of his face? His teeth are fearful round about. [5]Who can uncover the face of his garment? Who shall come within his double bridle?
[6]The majesty of his scales is like strong shields, and are sure sealed. [6]Who can open the doors of his face? Round about his teeth is terror.
[7]One is set to another, that no wind can come between them. [7]His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
[8]One is joined to another: they stick together, that they cannot be sundered. [8]One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
[9]His sneezings make the light to shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. [9]They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
[10]Out of his mouth go lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. [10]His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
[11]Out of his nostrils cometh out smoke, as out of a boiling pot or cauldron. [11]Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.
[12]His breath maketh the coals burn: for a flame goeth out of his mouth. [12]Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot and burning rushes.
[13]In his neck remaineth strength, and labor is rejected before his face. [13]His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
[14]The members of his body are joined: they are strong in themselves, and cannot be moved. [14]In his neck abideth strength, and dismay danceth before him.
[15]His heart is as strong as a stone, and as hard as the nether millstone. [15]The flakes of his flesh are joined together; they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.
[16]The mighty are afraid of his majesty, and for fear they faint in themselves. [16]His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.
[17]When the sword doth touch him, he will not rise up, nor for the spear dart nor habergeon. [17]When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid; by reason of despair they are beside themselves.
[18]He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. [18]If one lay at him with the sword, it will not hold; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
[19]The archer cannot make him flee: the stones of the sling are turned into stubble unto him: [19]He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
[20]The darts are counted as straw: and he laugheth at the shaking of the spear. [20]The arrow cannot make him flee; slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
[21]Sharp stones are under him, and he spreadeth sharp things upon the mire. [21]Clubs are accounted as stubble; he laugheth at the rattling of the javelin.
[22]He maketh the depth to boil like a pot, and maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. [22]Sharpest potsherds are under him; he spreadeth a threshing-sledge upon the mire.
[23]He maketh a path to shine after him: one would think the depth as an hoar head. [23]H maketh the deep to boil like a pot; he maketh the sea like a seething mixture.
[24]In the earth there is none like him: he is made without fear. [24]He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
[25]He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride. [25]Upon earth there is not his like, who is made to be fearless.
26[No verse] [26]He looketh at all high things; he is king over all the proud beasts.
