PesNT(Eth)
[1]ην δε τις ασθενων λαζαρος απο βηθανιας εκ της κωμης μαριας και μαρθας της αδελφης αυτης [1]BUT a certain man was sick, Loozar, of the village Bethania: [he was] the brother of Mariam and of Martha.
[2]ην δε μαριαμ η αλειψασα τον κυριον μυρω και εκμαξασα τους ποδας αυτου ταις θριξιν αυτης ης ο αδελφος λαζαρος ησθενει [2]It was that Mariam who anointed with balsam the feet of Jeshu, and wiped [them] with her hair, whose brother this Loozar was who was sick.
[3]απεστειλαν ουν αι αδελφαι προς αυτον λεγουσαι κυριε ιδε ον φιλεις ασθενει [3]And his two sisters sent unto Jeshu, saying, Our Lord, he whom thou lovest is sick.
[4]ακουσας δε ο ιησους ειπεν αυτη η ασθενεια ουκ εστιν προς θανατον αλλ υπερ της δοξης του θεου ινα δοξασθη ο υιος του θεου δι αυτης [4]But Jeshu said, This sickness is not of death, but for the glory of Aloha, that the Son of Aloha may be glorified on account of it.
[5]ηγαπα δε ο ιησους την μαρθαν και την αδελφην αυτης και τον λαζαρον [5]But Jeshu loved Martha and Mariam and Loozar.
[6]ως ουν ηκουσεν οτι ασθενει τοτε μεν εμεινεν εν ω ην τοπω δυο ημερας [6]And when he heard that he was sick, he remained in the place where he was two days.
[7]επειτα μετα τουτο λεγει τοις μαθηταις αγωμεν εις την ιουδαιαν παλιν [7]And afterwards he saith to his disciples, Come, we will go again into Jihud.
[8]λεγουσιν αυτω οι μαθηται ραββι νυν εζητουν σε λιθασαι οι ιουδαιοι και παλιν υπαγεις εκει [8]His disciples say to him, Raban, now have the Jihudoyee sought to stone thee; and again goest thou thither?
[9]απεκριθη ιησους ουχι δωδεκα ωραι εισιν της ημερας εαν τις περιπατη εν τη ημερα ου προσκοπτει οτι το φως του κοσμου τουτου βλεπει [9]Jeshu saith to them, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If a man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world;
[10]εαν δε τις περιπατη εν τη νυκτι προσκοπτει οτι το φως ουκ εστιν εν αυτω [10]But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because no light is in him.
[11]ταυτα ειπεν και μετα τουτο λεγει αυτοις λαζαρος ο φιλος ημων κεκοιμηται αλλα πορευομαι ινα εξυπνισω αυτον [11]These spake Jeshu; and afterwards he said to them, Loozar our friend reposeth; but I go to awake him.
[12]ειπαν ουν οι μαθηται αυτω κυριε ει κεκοιμηται σωθησεται [12]His disciples say to him, Our Lord, if he sleep he is healed.
[13]ειρηκει δε ο ιησους περι του θανατου αυτου εκεινοι δε εδοξαν οτι περι της κοιμησεως του υπνου λεγει [13]But Jeshu spake concerning his death; and they thought that concerning the repose of sleep he spake.
[14]τοτε ουν ειπεν αυτοις ο ιησους παρρησια λαζαρος απεθανεν [14]Then said Jeshu to them explicatively, Loozar is dead.
[15]και χαιρω δι υμας ινα πιστευσητε οτι ουκ ημην εκει αλλα αγωμεν προς αυτον [15]And I am glad I was not there for your sakes, that you may believe. But let us walk thither.
[16]ειπεν ουν θωμας ο λεγομενος διδυμος τοις συμμαθηταις αγωμεν και ημεις ινα αποθανωμεν μετ αυτου [16]Thoma, who is called the Twin, saith to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.
[17]ελθων ουν ο ιησους ευρεν αυτον τεσσαρας ηδη ημερας εχοντα εν τω μνημειω [17]And Jeshu came to Bethania, and found that he had been four days in the house of burial.
[18]ην δε η βηθανια εγγυς των ιεροσολυμων ως απο σταδιων δεκαπεντε [18]Now Bethania was nigh to Urishlem, being a distance from it of about fifteen stadia.
[19]πολλοι δε εκ των ιουδαιων εληλυθεισαν προς την μαρθαν και μαριαμ ινα παραμυθησωνται αυτας περι του αδελφου [19]And many of the Jihudoyee had come to Martha and Mariam, that they might speak to their hearts concerning their brother.
[20]η ουν μαρθα ως ηκουσεν οτι ιησους ερχεται υπηντησεν αυτω μαριαμ δε εν τω οικω εκαθεζετο [20]Then Martha, when she heard that Jeshu had come, went forth to meet him; but Mariam sat in the house.
[21]ειπεν ουν η μαρθα προς τον ιησουν κυριε ει ης ωδε ουκ αν απεθανεν ο αδελφος μου [21]And Martha said to Jeshu, My Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
[22][αλλα] και νυν οιδα οτι οσα αν αιτηση τον θεον δωσει σοι ο θεος [22]But even now know I that whatsoever thou wilt ask of Aloha, he giveth to thee.
[23]λεγει αυτη ο ιησους αναστησεται ο αδελφος σου [23]Jeshu saith to her, Thy brother ariseth.
[24]λεγει αυτω η μαρθα οιδα οτι αναστησεται εν τη αναστασει εν τη εσχατη ημερα [24]Martha saith to him, I know that he ariseth in the resurrection at the last day.
[25]ειπεν αυτη ο ιησους εγω ειμι η αναστασις και η ζωη ο πιστευων εις εμε καν αποθανη ζησεται [25]Jeshu saith to her, I am the Resurrection and the Life; and [he] who believeth in me, although he will die, shall live.
[26]και πας ο ζων και πιστευων εις εμε ου μη αποθανη εις τον αιωνα πιστευεις τουτο [26]And every one who liveth and believeth in me, for ever shall not die. Believest thou this?
[27]λεγει αυτω ναι κυριε εγω πεπιστευκα οτι συ ει ο χριστος ο υιος του θεου ο εις τον κοσμον ερχομενος [27]She saith to him, Yes, my Lord; I believe that thou art the Meshicha, the Son of Aloha, who cometh into the world.
[28]και τουτο ειπουσα απηλθεν και εφωνησεν μαριαμ την αδελφην αυτης λαθρα ειπουσα ο διδασκαλος παρεστιν και φωνει σε [28]And when she had said these, she went, called Mariam her sister in secret, and said to her, Our Master hath come, and calleth for thee.
[29]εκεινη δε ως ηκουσεν ηγερθη ταχυ και ηρχετο προς αυτον [29]When Mariam heard, she arose quickly, and came to him.
[30]ουπω δε εληλυθει ο ιησους εις την κωμην αλλ ην ετι εν τω τοπω οπου υπηντησεν αυτω η μαρθα [30]But Jeshu himself had not yet come into the village, but was in that place where Martha met him.
[31]οι ουν ιουδαιοι οι οντες μετ αυτης εν τη οικια και παραμυθουμενοι αυτην ιδοντες την μαριαμ οτι ταχεως ανεστη και εξηλθεν ηκολουθησαν αυτη δοξαντες οτι υπαγει εις το μνημειον ινα κλαυση εκει [31]But those Jihudoyee who were also with her in the house to console her, when they saw that Mariam rose up hastily to go forth, went themselves after her; for they thought that to the sepulchre she went to weep.
[32]η ουν μαριαμ ως ηλθεν οπου ην ιησους ιδουσα αυτον επεσεν αυτου προς τους ποδας λεγουσα αυτω κυριε ει ης ωδε ουκ αν μου απεθανεν ο αδελφος [32]But she, Mariam, when she was come where Jeshu was, and saw him, fell down at his feet, saying, If thou hadst been here, my Lord, my brother had not died.
[33]ιησους ουν ως ειδεν αυτην κλαιουσαν και τους συνελθοντας αυτη ιουδαιους κλαιοντας ενεβριμησατο τω πνευματι και εταραξεν εαυτον [33]But Jeshu, when he saw her weeping, and those Jihudoyee who came with her weeping, he was moved in his spirit, and was troubled,
[34]και ειπεν που τεθεικατε αυτον λεγουσιν αυτω κυριε ερχου και ιδε [34]And said, Where have you laid him? And they said to him, Our Lord, come and see.
[35]εδακρυσεν ο ιησους [35]And the tears of Jeshu came.
[36]ελεγον ουν οι ιουδαιοι ιδε πως εφιλει αυτον [36]And the Jihudoyee said, See how he loved him!
[37]τινες δε εξ αυτων ειπαν ουκ εδυνατο ουτος ο ανοιξας τους οφθαλμους του τυφλου ποιησαι ινα και ουτος μη αποθανη [37]But some of them said, Could not this who opened the eyes of that blind have caused also that this should not have died?
[38]ιησους ουν παλιν εμβριμωμενος εν εαυτω ερχεται εις το μνημειον ην δε σπηλαιον και λιθος επεκειτο επ αυτω [38]Jeshu, groaning within himself, came to the house of burial; and that house of burial was a cave, and a stone was laid at the gate of it.
[39]λεγει ο ιησους αρατε τον λιθον λεγει αυτω η αδελφη του τετελευτηκοτος μαρθα κυριε ηδη οζει τεταρταιος γαρ εστιν [39]And Jeshu said, Take up this stone. Martha, the sister of him [who was] dead, saith to him, My Lord, he now stinketh; for four days are to him.
[40]λεγει αυτη ο ιησους ουκ ειπον σοι οτι εαν πιστευσης οψη την δοξαν του θεου [40]Jeshu said to her, Said I not to thee, that if thou wilt believe, thou shalt see the glory of Aloha?
[41]ηραν ουν τον λιθον ο δε ιησους ηρεν τους οφθαλμους ανω και ειπεν πατερ ευχαριστω σοι οτι ηκουσας μου [41]And they took up the stone. And Jeshu lifted his eye upward, and said, Father, I give thanks to thee that thou hast heard me;
[42]εγω δε ηδειν οτι παντοτε μου ακουεις αλλα δια τον οχλον τον περιεστωτα ειπον ινα πιστευσωσιν οτι συ με απεστειλας [42]And I know that at all times thou hearest me: yet, because of this assembly which standeth, I say these [words], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
[43]και ταυτα ειπων φωνη μεγαλη εκραυγασεν λαζαρε δευρο εξω [43]And when he had said these [words], he cried with a high voice, Loozar, come without!
[44]εξηλθεν ο τεθνηκως δεδεμενος τους ποδας και τας χειρας κειριαις και η οψις αυτου σουδαριω περιεδεδετο λεγει [ο] ιησους αυτοις αυτοις ο ιησους λυσατε αυτον και αφετε αυτον υπαγειν [44]And he, the dead, came forth, his hands and his feet being bound with bandages, and his face in a linen cloth. Jeshu saith to them, Release him, and let [him] go.
[45]πολλοι ουν εκ των ιουδαιων οι ελθοντες προς την μαριαμ και θεασαμενοι ο α εποιησεν επιστευσαν εις αυτον [45]And many of the Jihudoyee who came with Mariam, when they saw the thing which Jeshu did, believed on him.
[46]τινες δε εξ αυτων απηλθον προς τους φαρισαιους και ειπαν αυτοις α εποιησεν ιησους [46]And some of them went to the Pharishee, and told them every thing that Jeshu had done.
[47]συνηγαγον ουν οι αρχιερεις και οι φαρισαιοι συνεδριον και ελεγον τι ποιουμεν οτι ουτος ο ανθρωπος πολλα ποιει σημεια [47]AND the chief priests and Pharishee assembled, and said, What shall we do? because this man doeth many signs;
[48]εαν αφωμεν αυτον ουτως παντες πιστευσουσιν εις αυτον και ελευσονται οι ρωμαιοι και αρουσιν ημων και τον τοπον και το εθνος [48]And if we leave him thus, all men will believe on him, and the Rumoyee, coming, take away our country and our people.
[49]εις δε τις εξ αυτων καιαφας αρχιερευς ων του ενιαυτου εκεινου ειπεν αυτοις υμεις ουκ οιδατε ουδεν [49]But one of them, whose name was Kaiapha, was the high priest of that year; and he said to them, You know not any thing,
[50]ουδε λογιζεσθε οτι συμφερει υμιν ινα εις ανθρωπος αποθανη υπερ του λαου και μη ολον το εθνος αποληται [50]Nor reason that it is expedient for us that one man die for the people, and not all the people perish.
[51]τουτο δε αφ εαυτου ουκ ειπεν αλλα αρχιερευς ων του ενιαυτου εκεινου επροφητευσεν οτι εμελλεν ιησους αποθνησκειν υπερ του εθνους [51]But this from himself he spake not, but because he was high priest of that year, he prophesied that Jeshu should die for the people,
[52]και ουχ υπερ του εθνους μονον αλλ ινα και τα τεκνα του θεου τα διεσκορπισμενα συναγαγη εις εν [52]And not only for [that] people, but also that the children of Aloha who are dispersed he should gather into one.
[53]απ εκεινης ουν της ημερας εβουλευσαντο ινα αποκτεινωσιν αυτον [53]And from that day they determined to kill him.
[54]ο ουν ιησους ουκετι παρρησια περιεπατει εν τοις ιουδαιοις αλλα απηλθεν εκειθεν εις την χωραν εγγυς της ερημου εις εφραιμ λεγομενην πολιν κακει-C εμεινεν μετα των μαθητων [54]But Jeshu himself walked not openly among the Jihudoyee, but went from thence to the region near the wilderness, to a region which was called Ephrem, and there conversed with his disciples.
[55]ην δε εγγυς το πασχα των ιουδαιων και ανεβησαν πολλοι εις ιεροσολυμα εκ της χωρας προ του πασχα ινα αγνισωσιν εαυτους [55]NOW the petscha of the Jihudoyee drew nigh; and many went up from the country places to Urishlem before the festival, to purify themselves.
[56]εζητουν ουν τον ιησουν και ελεγον μετ αλληλων εν τω ιερω εστηκοτες τι δοκει υμιν οτι ου μη ελθη εις την εορτην [56]And they sought for Jeshu, and said one to another in the temple, What think you, that he cometh to the feast?
[57]δεδωκεισαν δε οι αρχιερεις και οι φαρισαιοι εντολας ινα εαν τις γνω που εστιν μηνυση οπως πιασωσιν αυτον [57]But the chief priests and Pharishee had commanded that if any man knew where [he was], he should declare it to them, as that they might apprehend him.
