| [1]I AM the true vine, and my Father is the worker. |
[1]I am the true vine, and my Father is an husband man. |
| [2]Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he cuts out; and the one which bears fruit, he prunes so that it may bring forth more fruit. |
[2]Every branch that beareth not fruit in me, he taketh away: and every one that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. |
| [3]You have already been pruned because of the word which I have spoken to you. |
[3]Now are ye clean through the word, which I have spoken unto you. |
| [4]Remain with me and I with you. Just as a branch cannot give fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine; even so you cannot, unless you remain with me. |
[4]Abide in me, and I in you: as the branch cannot bear fruit of it self, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. |
| [5]I am the vine, you are the branches. He who remains with me and I with him, will bear abundant fruit; for without me you can do nothing. |
[5]I am the vine: ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me can ye do nothing. |
| [6]Unless a man remains with me, he will be cast outside, like a branch which is withered; which they pick up and throw into the fire to be burned. |
[6]If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and withereth: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they burn. |
| [7]If you remain with me, and my words remain with you, whatever you ask shall be done for you. |
[7]If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be done to you. |
| [8]In this the Father will be glorified, that you bear abundant fruit, and be my disciples. |
[8]Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, and be made my disciples. |
| [9]Just as my Father has loved me, I also have loved you; remain in my love. |
[9]As the father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue in my love. |
| [10]If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and I remain in his love. |
[10]If ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, as I have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in his love. |
| [11]I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. |
[11]These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. |
| [12]This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. |
[12]This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. |
| [13]There is no greater love than this, when a man lays down his life for the sake of his friends. |
[13]Greater love than this hath no man, when any man bestoweth his life for his friends. |
| [14]You are my friends, if you do everything that I command you. |
[14]Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. |
| [15]Henceforth I will not call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master does; but I have always called you my friends, because everything that I heard from my Father I made it known to you. |
[15]Hereforth, call I you not servants: for the servant knoweth not what his master doeth: but I have called you friends: for all things that I have heard of my Father, have I made known to you. |
| [16]You did not choose me, but I chose you, and I have appointed you, that you also should go and produce fruit, and that your fruit might remain; so that whatever you ask my Father in my name, he will give it to you. |
[16]Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit remain, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my Name, he may give it you. |
| [17]I command these things to you, so that you love one another. |
[17]These things command I you, that ye love one another. |
| [18]If the world hate you, know well that it has hated me before you. |
[18]If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before you. |
| [19]If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but you are not of the world, for I have chosen you out of the world; this is why the world hates you. |
[19]If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. |
| [20]Remember the word which I said to you, that no servant is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will also keep yours. |
[20]Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also: if they have kept my word, they will also keep yours. |
| [21]But they will do all these things to you for the sake of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. |
[21]But all these things will they do unto you for my Names sake, because they have not known him that sent me. |
| [22]If I had not come and spoken to them, they would be without sin; but now they have no excuse for their sins. |
[22]If I had not come and spoken unto them, they should not have had sin: but now have they no cloke for their sin. |
| [23]He who hates me, hates my Father also. |
[23]He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. |
| [24]If I had not done works before their eyes, such as no other man has ever done, they would be without sin; but now they have seen and hated me and also my Father, |
[24]If I had not done works among them which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and have hated both me, and my Father. |
| [25]So that the word which is written in their law may be fulfilled, They hated me for no reason. |
[25]But it is that the word might be fulfilled, that is written in their Law, They hated me without a cause. |
| [26]But when the Comforter comes, whom I will send to you from my Father, the Spirit of truth which proceeds from my Father, he will testify concerning me. |
[26]But when the Comforter shall come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth of the Father, he shall testify of me. |
| [27]And you also will testify because you have been with me from the beginning. |
[27]And ye shall witness also, because ye have been with me from the beginning. |
