Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
Peshitta NT (literal)
PesNT(lit)
[1]AFTER these things Jesus travelled in Galilee; for he did not wish to travel in Judaea, because the Jews wanted to kill him. [1]After these things walking was Ieshu in Galilee not for wanted He to walk in Judea because The Judeans seeking were to kill Him
[2]Now the Jewish feast of the tabernacles was at hand. [2]And near was the feast of tabernacles of The Judeans
[3]And his brothers said to Jesus, Depart from here and go to Judaea, so that your disciples may see the works that you do. [3]And said to Him His brothers to Jesus remove yourself from here and go to Judea that may see your disciples the works that do you
[4]For there is no man, who does anything in secret and yet wants it to become known. If you are doing these things, show yourself to the people. [4]There is not for a man doing anything in secret and he wanted it openly done if these things doing you are show yourself to the world
[5]For not even his own brothers believed in Jesus. [5]Also not for His brothers believing were in Jesus
[6]Jesus said to them, My time has not yet come; but your time is always ready. [6]Said to them Ieshu My time ? until this hour not has come your time but ? in every moment is prepared
[7]The world cannot hate you; but it hates me, because I testify against it, that its works are evil. [7]Not can the world hate you Me but it hates because I testifying am about it that its servants,[works] evil are
[8]You go up to this feast; I am not going just now to this feast, for my time is not yet come. [8]You go up to feast this I not going up am now to feast this because time my not yet is finished
[9]He said these things, and remained in Galilee. [9]These things He said and He remained in Galilee
[10]But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret. [10]When but went up His brothers to the feast then also He went up not openly but as secretly
[11]The Jews were looking for him at the feast and said, Where is he? [11]The Judeans but seeking were Him in the feast and were saying they where is? He
[12]And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him; for some said, He is good; and others said, No, but he just deceives the people. [12]And murmuring much because of Him is there was in the crowd there were for those who said "good He is" and others saying were no but He deceives the people
[13]But no man spoke openly about him, because of the fear of the Jews. [13]Not but a man openly speaking was about Him because of fear of The Judeans
[14]Now about the middle period of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple and taught. [14]When but they cut in half the days of the feast came up Ieshu to the temple and taught He
[15]And the Jews marvelled, saying, How does this man know reading, when he has not been instructed? [15]And astonished were The Judeans and they were saying How? knows This One the scrolls when not He has learned
[16]Jesus answered and said, My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. [16]Answered Ieshu and said My learning not is Mine but that which is of Him Who sent Me
[17]He who wills to do his will, he will understand if my teaching is from God, or if I am just speaking of my own accord. [17]Whoever is willing that he should do His will understands My teaching if from Alaha it is or I from pleasure My own speaking am
[18]He who speaks of his own accord seeks glory for himself; but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him, he is true, and there is no deception in his heart. [18]Whoever from the pleasure of his mind is speaking glory for himself seeking is but the glory from him who sent him one seeking faithful is and inequity in his heart not is
[19]Did not Moses give you the law? and yet no one of you obeys the law. Why do you want to kill me? [19]Not? was it Moses who gave to you the Torah and not a man among you keeps the Torah
[20]The people answered, saying, You are crazy; who wants to kill you? [20]Why are seeking you to kill Me? answered the crowd and they were saying a demon is in you; who is seeking to kill you?
[21]Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and all of you marvel. [21]Answered Ieshu and said to them one work I have done and all of you astonished are
[22]Moses gave you circumcision, not because it is from Moses, but because it is from the forefathers; and yet you circumcise a man on the sabbath. [22]Because of this Moses gave to you circumcision not that because from him it is from Moses but from the forefathers it is and in the Sabbath circumcise you a son of man
[23]So if a man is circumcised on the sabbath day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; yet you murmur at me, because I healed a whole man on the sabbath day? [23]If a son is circumcised in the day of the Sabbath because not should be broken the Law of Moses against Me complain? you that entirely a son of man I have healed in the day of the Sabbath
[24]Do not judge by partiality, but judge a just judgment. [24]Not be judging by receiving faces but judgment just judge
[25]Then some of the men of Jerusalem were saying, Is not this the man whom they want to kill? [25]And saying were the men from Jerusalem not? Is This He Whom they seek to kill
[26]And yet he speaks openly, but they say nothing to him. Perhaps our elders have found out that he is the Christ? [26]And behold openly He speaks and anything not they are saying to him can? know the elders that This One is truly The Messiah
[27]Howbeit we know whence he comes; but when the Christ comes, no man will know whence he comes. [27]But This One know we from where He is The Messiah but whenever He comes no man will know from where He is
[28]Jesus then lifted up his voice as he taught in the temple, and said, You know me, and you know whence I come; and yet I have not come of my own accord, but he who sent me is true, whom you do not know. [28]And lifted up Ieshu His voice when He taught in the temple and said Me know you and from where I am know you and from pleasure My own not I have come but true He is Who has sent Me He Whom you not know do Him
[29]But I know him; because I am from him, and he sent me. [29]I but know do Him because from union with Him I am and He has sent Me
[30]So they wanted to seize him; and no man laid hands on him, because his time had not yet come. [30]And they sought to seize Him and not a man laid upon Him hands because not yet come had His hour
[31]But a great many of the people believed in him and said, When the Christ comes, why, will he do greater wonders than this man does? [31]Many but from the crowds trusted in Him and they were saying The Messiah whenever comes will? more than these signs He do This One has done
[32]The Pharisees heard the people talking about him; so they and the high priests sent soldiers to arrest him. [32]And heard The Pharisees the crowds speaking about Him these things and sent they and the chief priests guards that they would seize Him
[33]And Jesus said, I am with you just a short while, and I am going to him who sent me. [33]And said Ieshu a little more time with you I am and go I to join Him Who has sent Me
[34]You will seek me, but you will not find me; and where I am you cannot come. [34]And you shall seek me and not you shall find Me and wherever I am not can you come
[35]Then the Jews said among themselves, Where is he going, that we cannot find him? why, is he planning to go to the countries of the Gentiles, to teach the pagans? [35]Were saying The Judeans among themselves where? is prepared This One to go that we are not able to be with Him is? indeed to a region of the nations He prepared to go teach the pagans
[36]What does this word mean which he said, You will seek me and you will not find me; and where I am you cannot come? [36]What? is this statement that He spoke You will seek Me and not you will find Me and wherever I am you not able are to come
[37]Now on the greatest day, which is the last day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out and said, If any man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. [37]In the day but the great which is the last of the feast stand did Ieshu and He proclaimed and said if a man is thirsty let him come to Me and let him drink
[38]Whoever believes in me, just as the scriptures have said, the rivers of living water shall flow from within him. [38]Everyone who trusts in Me just as have said the scriptures rivers of water living shall flow from within him
[39]He said this concerning the Spirit, which they who believe in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. [39]This but He spoke about The Spirit Whom being prepared they were to receive those who were trusting in Him not for yet given had been The Spirit because not yet glorified had been Ieshu
[40]Many of the people who heard his words were saying, This man truly is a prophet. [40]Many but from the crowds who heard His words saying were This is truly The prophet
[41]Others were saying, He is the Christ; but others said, Is it possible that Christ should come from Galilee? [41]Others saying were This One is The Messiah others were saying can? from Galilee come The Messiah
[42]Does not the scripture say that Christ will come from the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town of David? [42]Not? has the scripture said from the seed of David and from Bethlehem the village of David is coming The Messiah
[43]So the people were divided because of him. [43]And there was division among the crowd because of Him
[44]And there were some men among them, who wanted to seize him; but no man laid hands on him. [44]There were people among them who willing were to seize Him but no man put on Him hands
[45]And the soldiers returned to the high priests and the Pharisees; and the priests said to them, Why did you not bring him? [45]And came guards those to chief the priests and the Pharisees and said to them the priests Why? not have you brought Him
[46]The soldiers said to them, Never a man has spoken as this man speaks. [46]Were saying to them the guards never in this manner has spoken a son of man like speaks Man This
[47]The Pharisees said to them, Why, have you also been deceived? [47]Were saying to them the Pharisees have? also you been deceived
[48]Why, have any of the leaders or of the Pharisees believed in him, [48]Have? men from the leaders or from the Pharisees trusted in Him
[49]Except this cursed people, who do not know the law? [49]However people this who not do know The Torah damned are
[50]Nicodemus, one of them, who had come to Jesus at night, said to them, [50]Said to them Nicodemus one of them he is who came ? to Ieshu at night
[51]Does our law convict a man, unless it first hears from him, and knows what he has done? [51]Does? Torah our condemn a son of man unless one shall hear from him first and shall know what he has done
[52]They answered and said to him, Why, are you also from Galilee? Search and see that no prophet will rise up from Galilee. [52]They answered and were saying to him ? also you from Galilee are search and see that a prophet from Galilee not arises went then everyone to his house
[53]So everyone went to his own house. 53[No verse]
