[1]And so it was, that as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Master, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. |
[1]And it was that when He was praying in a place certain when He had finished said to Him one of His disciples our Lord teach us to pray Just as that also Yokhanan taught his disciples |
[2]And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name: Thy kingdom come: Let thy will be done even in earth, as it is in heaven: |
[2]Said to them Ieshu when pray you thus you shall be saying our Father Who are in heaven |
[3]Our daily bread give us for the day: |
[3]Hallowed be Your Name let come Your Kingdom let be done Your will as that in Heaven also in the earth give to us the bread of our need every day |
[4]And forgive us our sins: for even we forgive every man that is indebted to us: And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. |
[4]And forgive to us our sins even we for we forgive all who are indebted to us and not lead us to temptation but save us from the evil one |
[5]Â Moreover he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves? |
[5]And He said to them who is? among you who has to him a friend and will go to him at mid- -night and will say to him my friend lend me three loaves |
[6]For a friend of mine is come out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him: |
[6]Because a friend has come to me from the road and there is not to me anything that I may set before him |
[7]And he within should answer, and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed: I cannot rise and give them to thee. |
[7]And he his friend from within will answer and will say to him not disturb me for behold the door bolted is and my children with me in bed not can I arise and give to you |
[8]I say unto you, though he would not arise and give him, because he is his friend, yet doubtless because of his importunity, he would rise, and give him as many as he needed. |
[8]Say I to you that if because of friendship not he will give to him because of his persistence he will arise and he will give to him as much as he needs to him |
[9]And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you. |
[9]Also I saying am to you ask and it shall be given to you seek and you shall find knock and it will be opened to you |
[10]For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. |
[10]Everyone for who asks receives and whoever seeks finds and whoever knocks it is opened to him |
[11]If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? |
[11]Which? for of you is a father will ask him whose son for bread will? a stone he hand him and if a fish he will ask of him will? instead of a fish a snake he hand him |
[12]Or if he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? |
[12]And if an egg he would ask of him would? he a scorpion hand him |
[13]If ye then which are evil, can give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to them, that desire him? |
[13]And if you who evil are knowing you are gifts good to give to your children how much? more your Father from Heaven will give the Spirit of Holiness to those who ask Him |
[14]Â Then he cast out a devil which was dumb: and when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake, and the people wondered. |
[14]And when He was casting out a demon that was making mute it was that when went out that demon spoke that mute and were astonished the crowds |
[15]But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. |
[15]Men but among them said by Beelzebub the chief of devils exorcizes This One devils |
[16]And others tempted him, seeking of him a sign from heaven. |
[16]Others but then were testing Him a sign from Heaven asking they were Him |
[17]But he knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself, shall be desolate, and an house divided against an house, falleth. |
[17]Ieshu but because knew He their thoughts He said to them every realm that is divided against itself will be laid waste and a home that against its nature is divided falls |
[18]So if Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand, because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub? |
[18]And if Satan against himself is divided how? will stand his kingdom for say you that by Beelzebub cast out I devils |
[19]If I through Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore shall they be your judges. |
[19]And if I by Beelzebub exorcizing am devils your children by whom? are they exorcizing because of this they will be to you judges |
[20]But if I by the finger of God cast out devils, doubtless the kingdom of God is come unto you. |
[20]If but by the finger of Alaha cast out I devils has come near it unto you the Kingdom of Alaha |
[21]When a strong man armed, keepeth his palace, the things that he possesseth, are in peace. |
[21]Whenever a strong man while armed keeps his homestead in peace is his property |
[22]But when a stronger then he, cometh upon him, and overcometh him: he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. |
[22]If but will come one who is stronger than he to overpower him all his weapons takes he in which trusting he was on them and his spoil he divides |
[23]He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. |
[23]Whoever not was with Me against Me is and whoever not gathers with Me to scatter is scattering |
[24]When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest: and when he findeth none, he saith, I will return unto mine house whence I came out. |
[24]A spirit vile whenever it has gone out from a son of man it goes traveling around in places of which water there is not in them to seek for it rest and whenever not it finds it says I shall return to my house from where I came out |
[25]And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. |
[25]And if it comes it finds it swept and decorated |
[26]Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits worse than himself: and they enter in, and dwell there, so the last state of that man is worse than the first. |
[26]Then it goes bringing seven spirits other which are more evil than it and are entering and dwelling there and shall be the end of son of man that worse than his beginning |
[27]Â And it came to pass as he said these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. |
[27]And while these things speaking He was raised woman one her voice from the crowd and she said to Him its blessing to the womb that carried You and to the breasts that suckled You |
[28]But he said, Yea, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. |
[28]Said to her He their blessing to those who have heard the word of Alaha and keep it |
[29]Â And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: they seek a sign, and there shall no sign be given them, but the sign of Jonah the Prophet. |
[29]And when assembling were the crowds He began to say generation this wicked a sign seeks and a sign not shall be given to it but the sign of Yonan the prophet |
[30]For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninivites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. |
[30]Just as for was Yonan a sign to the Ninevites thus shall be also The Son of Man to generation this |
[31]The Queen of the South shall rise in judgment, with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. |
[31]The queen of the south shall stand in judgment with the people of generation this and she shall condemn them for she came from the far side of the land that she might hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold He Who is greater than Solomon is here |
[32]The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah: and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. |
[32]The men the Ninevites will rise in judgment with generation this and they shall condemn it because they repented at the preaching of Yonan and behold He Who is greater than Yonan is here |
[33]Â No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a private place, neither under a bushel: but on a candlestick, that they which come in, may see the light. |
[33]No man lights a lamp and sets it in a hidden place or under a bushel but over from a lampstand that those who enter may see its light |
[34]The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, then is thy whole body light: but if thy eye be evil, then thy body is dark. |
[34]The lamp of the body is your eye when therefore your eye is clear also whole your body shall be illuminated if but it should be evil also your body shall be darkened |
[35]Take heed therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkness. |
[35]Take care therefore lest the light that is in you darkness is |
[36]If therefore thy whole body shall be light, having no part dark, then shall all be light, even as when a candle doth light thee with the brightness. |
[36]If but your body entire is enlightened and there is not in it part any darkened it shall be shining entirely like a lamp in its flame gives light to you |
[37]Â And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down at table. |
[37]While but He was speaking requested of Him Pharisee one that He would dine with him and He entered He reclined |
[38]And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed before dinner. |
[38]That but Pharisee when he saw Him he was amazed that not first He washed from before His dinner |
[39]And the Lord said to him, In deed ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter: but the inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. |
[39]Said to him but Ieshu now you Pharisees the outside of the cup and the dish cleansing are inside some of you but are full of rape and wickedness |
[40]Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also? |
[40]Ones lacking intellect not? has The One Who made the outside also the inside He made |
[41]Therefore, give alms of those things which are within, and behold, all things shall be clean to you. |
[41]However whatever you have give it in alms and behold everything pure is to you |
[42]But woe be to you, Pharisees: for ye tithe the mint and the rue, and all manner herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other undone. |
[42]But woe! to you Pharisees for tithe you mint and dill and every herb and pass on you over justice and over the love of Alaha these but necessary it was for you to do and those not you should forsake |
[43]Woe be to you, Pharisees: for ye love the uppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets. |
[43]Woe! to you Pharisees who love you first class seats in the synagogues and greetings in the streets |
[44]Woe be to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them, perceive not. |
[44]Woe! to you Scribes and Pharisees accepters of faces who are as tombs that not are known and children of men walk over them and not know |
[45]Â Then answered one of the expounders of the Law, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest us to rebuke also. |
[45]And answered one from the Scribes and he said to Him Teacher when these things say You also us insult You |
[46]And he said, Woe be to you also, ye interpreters of the Law: for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be born, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. |
[46]He but said also to you Scribes woe! for load you the children of men with burdens heavy and you with one of your fingers not touch you those burdens |
[47]Woe be to you: for ye build the sepulchers of the Prophets, and your fathers killed them. |
[47]Woe! to you who building are the tombs of the prophets for your fathers murdered them |
[48]Truly ye bear witness, and allow the deeds of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their sepulchers. |
[48]Testify you therefore and approve you the deeds of your fathers for they murdered them and you building are their tombs |
[49]Therefore said the wisdom of God, I will send them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slay and persecute, |
[49]Because of this also the Wisdom of Alaha said behold I am sending to them prophets and apostles some of them they shall persecute and they shall murder |
[50]That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, |
[50]So that shall be required the blood of all the prophets that was shed from when was created the world of generation this |
[51]From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zechariah, which was slain between the altar and the Temple: Verily I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation. |
[51]From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zechariah he who was killed between the temple and the altar yes say I to you that it shall be required from generation this |
[52]Woe be to you, interpreters of the Law: for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that came in, ye forbade. |
[52]Woe to you Scribes because you have taken the keys of knowledge you not have entered and those who were entering you have hindered |
[53]And as he said these things unto them, the Scribes and Pharisees began to urge him sore, and to provoke him to speak of many things, |
[53]And when these things said He to them began the Scribes and the Pharisees to be offended at them and they were angered and they disparaged His words |
[54]Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him. |
[54]And they acted deceitfully to Him in many things while they sought to seize on something from His mouth so that they would be able ? to accuse Him |
