[1]And it came to passe, that he went into the house of one of ye chiefe pharisees, to eate bread on the Sabboth day, & they watched hym [1]AndG2532 it came to passG1096[G5633], asG1722 heG846 wentG2064[G5629] intoG1519 the houseG3624 of oneG5100 of the chiefG758 PhariseesG5330 to eatG5315[G5629] breadG740 on the sabbathG4521 day, thatG2532 theyG846 watchedG2258[G5713][G3906][G5734] himG846.
[2]And beholde, there was a certayne man before hym, which had the dropsie [2]AndG2532, beholdG2400[G5628], there wasG2258[G5713] a certainG5100 manG444 beforeG1715 himG846 which had the dropsyG5203.
[3]And Iesus aunswered, and spake vnto the lawyers & pharisees, saying: Is it lawful to heale on the Sabboth day [3]AndG2532 JesusG2424 answeringG611[G5679] spakeG2036[G5627] untoG4314 the lawyersG3544 andG2532 PhariseesG5330, sayingG3004[G5723], Is itG1487 lawfulG1832[G5748] to healG2323[G5721] on the sabbath dayG4521?
[4]And they helde their peace. And he toke hym, & healed him, and let him go [4]AndG1161 they held their peaceG2270[G5656]. AndG2532 he tookG1949[G5637] him, and healedG2390[G5662] himG846, andG2532 G630let him goG5656
[5]And aunswered them, saying: Which of you shal haue an asse or an oxe fallen into a pyt, and wyll not strayghtway pull hym out, on the Sabboth day [5]AndG2532 answeredG611[G5679] themG4314[G846], sayingG2036[G5627], WhichG5101 of youG5216 shall have an assG3688 orG2228 an oxG1016 fallenG1706[G5695] intoG1519 a pitG5421, andG2532 willG385 notG3756 straightwayG2112 pullG385 himG846 outG385[G5692] onG1722 the sabbathG4521 dayG2250?
[6]And they coulde not aunswere hym agayne to these thynges [6]AndG2532 they couldG2480[G5656] notG3756 answerG470 himG846 againG470[G5677] toG4314 these thingsG5023.
[7]He put foorth also a similitude to the ghestes, when he marked howe they chose out the chiefe rowmes, and sayde vnto them [7]AndG1161 he put forthG3004[G5707] a parableG3850 toG4314 those which were biddenG2564[G5772], when he markedG1907[G5723] howG4459 they chose outG1586[G5710] the chief roomsG4411; sayingG3004[G5723] untoG4314 themG846,
[8]When thou art bydden of any man to a weddyng, syt not downe in the hyest rowme: lest a more honourable man then thou, be bydden of hym [8]WhenG3752 thou art biddenG2564[G5686] ofG5259 anyG5100 man toG1519 a weddingG1062, sitG2625 notG3361 downG2625[G5686] inG1519 the highest roomG4411; lestG3379 a more honourable manG1784 than thouG4675 beG5600[G5753] biddenG2564[G5772] ofG5259 himG846;
[9]And he, that bad hym and thee, come, and say to thee, geue this man rowme: & thou then begyn with shame, to take the lowest rowme [9]AndG2532 he that badeG2564[G5660] theeG4571 andG2532 himG846 comeG2064[G5631] and sayG2046[G5692] to theeG4671, GiveG1325[G5628] this manG5129 placeG5117; andG2532[G5119] thou beginG756[G5672] withG3326 shameG152 to takeG2722[G5721] the lowestG2078 roomG5117.
[10]But when thou art bydden, go and syt in the lowest rowme, that when he that bad thee cometh, he may say vnto thee, friende syt vp hyer: Then shalt thou haue worshyppe in the presence of them that syt at meate with thee [10]ButG235 whenG3752 thou art biddenG2564[G5686], goG4198[G5679] and sit downG377[G5657] inG1519 the lowestG2078 roomG5117; thatG2443 whenG3752 he that badeG2564[G5761] theeG4571 comethG2064[G5632], he may sayG2036[G5632] unto theeG4671, FriendG5384, go upG4320[G5628] higherG511: thenG5119 shalt thouG4671 haveG2071[G5704] worshipG1391 in the presenceG1799 of them that sit at meatG4873[G5740] with theeG4671.
[11]For whosoeuer exalteth hym selfe, shalbe brought lowe: And he that humbleth hym selfe, shalbe exalted [11]ForG3754 whosoeverG3956 exaltethG5312[G5723] himselfG1438 shall be abasedG5013[G5701]; andG2532 he that humblethG5013[G5723] himselfG1438 shall be exaltedG5312.[G5701]
[12]Then sayde he also to hym that bad hym [to meate:] When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friendes, nor thy brethren, neither thy kynsemen, nor thy ryche neyghbours, lest they also byd thee agayne, and a recompence be made thee [12]ThenG1161 said heG3004[G5707] alsoG2532 to him that badeG2564[G5761] himG846, WhenG3752 thou makestG4160[G5725] a dinnerG712 orG2228 a supperG1173, callG5455[G5720] notG3361 thyG4675 friendsG5384, norG3366 thyG4675 brethrenG80, neitherG3366 thyG4675 kinsmenG4773, norG3366 thy richG4145 neighboursG1069; lestG3379 theyG846 alsoG2532 bidG479 theeG4571 againG479[G5661], andG2532 a recompenceG468 be madeG1096[G5638] theeG4671.
[13]But when thou makest a feast, call the poore, the feeble, the lame, & the blynde [13]ButG235 whenG3752 thou makestG4160[G5725] a feastG1403, callG2564[G5720] the poorG4434, the maimedG376, the lameG5560, the blindG5185:
[14]And thou shalt be happy, for they can not recompence thee: For thou shalt be recompenced at the resurrection of the iust [men. [14]AndG2532 thou shalt beG2071[G5704] blessedG3107; forG3754 they cannotG3756[G2192][G5719] recompenseG467[G5629] theeG4671: forG1063 thouG4671 shalt be recompensedG467[G5701] atG1722 the resurrectionG386 of the justG1342.
[15]When one of them, that sate at meate also, hearde these thynges, he sayde vnto hym: Happy is he that eateth bread in the kyngdome of God [15]AndG1161 when oneG5100 of them that sat at meat with himG4873[G5740] heardG191[G5660] these thingsG5023, he saidG2036[G5627] unto himG846, BlessedG3107 is heG3739 that shall eatG5315[G5695] breadG740 inG1722 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316.
[16]Then sayde he vnto hym. A certayne man ordayned a great supper, and bad many [16]ThenG1161 said heG2036[G5627] unto himG846, A certainG5100 manG444 madeG4160[G5656] a greatG3173 supperG1173, andG2532 badeG2564[G5656] manyG4183:
[17]And sent his seruaunt at supper tyme, to say to them that were bydden, come, for all thynges are nowe redy [17]AndG2532 sentG649[G5656] hisG846 servantG1401 at supperG1173 timeG5610 to sayG2036[G5629] to them that were biddenG2564[G5772], ComeG2064[G5737]; forG3754 all thingsG3956 areG2076[G5748] nowG2235 readyG2092.
[18]And they all at once began to make excuse. The first sayde vnto hym: I haue bought a farme, & I must needes go & see it, I pray thee haue me excused [18]AndG2532 they allG3956 withG575 oneG3391 consent beganG756[G5662] to make excuseG3868[G5738]. The firstG4413 saidG2036[G5627] unto himG846, I have boughtG59[G5656] a piece of groundG68, andG2532 I mustG2192[G5719] needsG318 goG1831[G5629] andG2532 seeG1492[G5629] itG846: I prayG2065[G5719] theeG4571 haveG2192[G5720] meG3165 excusedG3868.[G5772]
[19]And another sayde: I haue bought fiue yoke of oxen, and I go to proue them, I pray thee haue me excused [19]AndG2532 anotherG2087 saidG2036[G5627], I have boughtG59[G5656] fiveG4002 yokeG2201 of oxenG1016, andG2532 I goG4198[G5736] to proveG1381[G5658] themG846: I prayG2065[G5719] theeG4571 haveG2192[G5720] meG3165 excusedG3868.[G5772]
[20]And another sayde: I haue maryed a wyfe, and therfore I can not come [20]AndG2532 anotherG2087 saidG2036[G5627], I have marriedG1060[G5656] a wifeG1135, andG2532 thereforeG1223[G5124] I cannotG3756[G1410][G5736] comeG2064.[G5629]
[21]And the seruaunt returned, & shewed his maister these thynges. Then was the good man of the house displeased, & sayde to his seruaunt: Go out quickly into the brode streates and lanes of the citie, and bryng in hyther the poore, and the feeble, and the halt, and the blynde [21]SoG2532 thatG1565 servantG1401 cameG3854[G5637], and shewedG518[G5656] hisG846 lordG2962 these thingsG5023. ThenG5119 the master of the houseG3617 being angryG3710[G5685] saidG2036[G5627] to hisG846 servantG1401, Go outG1831[G5628] quicklyG5030 intoG1519 the streetsG4113 andG2532 lanesG4505 of the cityG4172, andG2532 bring inG1521[G5628] hitherG5602 the poorG4434, andG2532 the maimedG376, andG2532 the haltG5560, andG2532 the blindG5185.
[22]And the seruaunt sayde: Lorde, it is done as thou hast commaunded, and yet there is rowme [22]AndG2532 the servantG1401 saidG2036[G5627], LordG2962, it is doneG1096[G5754] asG5613 thou hast commandedG2004[G5656], andG2532 yetG2089 there isG2076[G5748] roomG5117.
[23]And the Lorde sayde to the seruaunt: Go out into the hye wayes & hedges, and compell them to come in, that my house may be fylled [23]AndG2532 the lordG2962 saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 the servantG1401, Go outG1831[G5628] intoG1519 the highwaysG3598 andG2532 hedgesG5418, andG2532 compelG315[G5657] them to come inG1525[G5629], thatG2443 myG3450 houseG3624 may be filledG1072.[G5686]
[24]For I say vnto you, that none of those men which were bydden, shall taste of my supper [24]ForG1063 I sayG3004[G5719] unto youG5213, ThatG3754 noneG3762 of thoseG1565 menG435 whichG3588 were biddenG2564[G5772] shall tasteG1089[G5695] of myG3450 supperG1173.
[25]There went a great companie with hym: and he returned, and sayde vnto them [25]AndG1161 there wentG4848[G5711] greatG4183 multitudesG3793 with himG846: andG2532 he turnedG4762[G5651], and saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 themG846,
[26]If any man come to me, and hate not his father and mother, and wyfe, and chyldren, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his owne lyfe also, he can not be my disciple [26]If anyG1536 man comeG2064[G5736] toG4314 meG3165, andG2532 hateG3404[G5719] notG3756 hisG1438 fatherG3962, andG2532 motherG3384, andG2532 wifeG1135, andG2532 childrenG5043, andG2532 brethrenG80, andG2532 sistersG79, yeaG2089, andG1161 his ownG1438 lifeG5590 alsoG2532, he cannotG3756[G1410][G5736] beG1511[G5750] myG3450 discipleG3101.
[27]And whosoeuer doth not beare his crosse, and come after me, can not be my disciple [27]AndG2532 whosoeverG3748 dothG941 notG3756 bearG941[G5719] hisG846 crossG4716, andG2532 comeG2064[G5736] afterG3694 meG3450, cannotG3756[G1410][G5736] beG1511[G5750] myG3450 discipleG3101.
[28]For which of you, disposed to buylde a towre, sitteth not downe before, and counteth the cost, whether he haue sufficient to perfourme it [28]ForG1063 whichG5101 ofG1537 youG5216, intendingG2309[G5723] to buildG3618[G5658] a towerG4444, sittethG2523 notG3780 downG2523[G5660] firstG4412, and countethG5585[G5719] the costG1160, whetherG1487 he haveG2192[G5719] sufficient toG4314 finish itG535?
[29]Lest after he hath layde the foundation, and is not able to perfourme it, all that beholde it, begyn to mocke hym [29]LestG3363 haplyG3379, after heG846 hath laidG5087[G5631] the foundationG2310, andG2532 isG2480 notG3361 ableG2480[G5723] to finishG1615[G5658] it, allG3956 that beholdG2334[G5723] it beginG756[G5672] to mockG1702[G5721] himG846,
[30]Saying: this man began to buylde, and was not able to make an ende [30]SayingG3004[G5723], ThisG3754[G3778] manG444 beganG756[G5662] to buildG3618[G5721], andG2532 wasG2480 notG3756 ableG2480[G5656] to finishG1615.[G5658]
[31]Or what kyng, goyng to make battell against another kyng, sitteth not downe first, and casteth in his mynde, whether he be able with ten thousande, to meete hym, that commeth agaynst hym with twentie thousande [31]OrG2228 whatG5101 kingG935, goingG4198[G5740] to makeG4820[G5629] warG4171 againstG1519 anotherG2087 kingG935, sittethG2523 notG3780 downG2523[G5660] firstG4412, and consultethG1011[G5736] whetherG1487 he beG2076[G5748] ableG1415 withG1722 tenG1176 thousandG5505 to meetG528[G5658] him that comethG2064[G5740] againstG1909 himG846 withG3326 twentyG1501 thousandG5505?
[32]Or els, whyle the other is yet a great way of, he sendeth an imbassage, and desireth conditions of peace [32]Or elseG1490, while the otherG846 isG5607[G5752] yetG2089 a great way offG4206, he sendethG649[G5660] an ambassageG4242, and desirethG2065[G5719] conditionsG4314 of peaceG1515.
[33]So lykewyse, whosoeuer he be of you, that forsaketh not all that he hath, he can not be my disciple [33]SoG3779 likewiseG3767, whosoeverG3956 he be ofG1537 youG5216 thatG3739 forsakethG657[G5731] notG3756 allG3956 that he hathG5224[G5723][G1438], he cannotG3756[G1410][G5736] beG1511[G5750] myG3450 discipleG3101.
[34]Salt is good, but if ye salt haue lost the saltnes, what shalbe seasoned therwith [34]SaltG217 is goodG2570: butG1161 ifG1437 the saltG217 have lost his savourG3471[G5686], wherewithG1722[G5101] shall it be seasonedG741?[G5701]
[35]It is neither good for the lande, nor yet for the doung hyll: but men cast it out [at the doores.] He that hath eares to heare, let hym heare [35]It isG2076[G5748] neitherG3777 fitG2111 forG1519 the landG1093, nor yetG3777 forG1519 the dunghillG2874; but men castG906[G5719] itG846 outG1854. He that hathG2192[G5723] earsG3775 to hearG191[G5721], let him hearG191.[G5720]
