| [1]Then resorted unto him all the Publicans, and sinners, to hear him. |
[1]מתקרבינ הוו דינ לותה מכסא וחטיא דנשׁמעוניהי |
| [2]Therefore the Pharisees and Scribes murmured, saying, He receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. |
[2]וספרא ופרישׁא רטנינ הוו ואמרינ הנא לחטיא מקבל ואכל עמהונ |
| [3]Then spake he this parable to them, saying, |
[3]ואמר להונ ישׁוע מתלא הנא |
| [4]What man of you having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? |
[4]מנו מנכונ גברא דאית לה מאא ערבינ ואנ נאבד חד מנהונ לא שׁבק תשׁעינ ותשׁעא בדברא ואזל בעא להו דאבד עדמא דנשׁכחיוהי |
| [5]And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders with joy. |
[5]ומא דאשׁכחה חדא ושׁקל לה על כתפתה |
| [6]And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me: for I have found my sheep, which was lost. |
[6]ואתא לביתה וקרא לרחמוהי ולשׁבבוהי ואמר להונ חדו עמי דאשׁכחת ערבי דאביד הוא |
| [7]I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven for one sinner that converteth, more than for ninety and nine just men, which need none amendment of life. |
[7]אמר אנא לכונ דהכנא תהוא חדותא בשׁמיא על חד חטיא דתאב או על תשׁעינ ותשׁעא זדיקינ דלא מתבעיא להונ תיבותא |
| [8]Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? |
[8]או אידא הי אנתתא דאית לה עסרא זוזינ ותובד חד מנהונ ולא מנהרא שׁרגא וחמא ביתא ובעיא לה בטילאית עדמא דתשׁכחיוהי |
| [9]And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends, and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me: for I have found the piece which I had lost. |
[9]ומא דאשׁכחתה קריא לרחמתה ולשׁבבתה ואמרא להינ חדיינ עמי דאשׁכחת זוזי דאביד הוא |
| [10]Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the Angels of God, for one sinner that converteth. |
[10]אמר אנא לכונ דהכנא תהוא חדותא קדמ מלאכוהי דאלהא על חד חטיא דתאב |
| [11] He said moreover, A certain man had two sons. |
[11]ואמר הוא להונ תוב ישׁוע לגברא חד אית הוא לה בניא תרינ |
| [12]And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of the goods that falleth to me. So he divided unto them his substance. |
[12]ואמר לה ברה זעורא אבי הב לי פלגותא דמטיא לי מנ ביתכ ופלג להונ קנינה |
| [13]So not long after, when the younger son had gathered all together, he took his journey into a far country, and there he wasted his goods with riotous living. |
[13]ומנ בתר יומתא קליל כנשׁ הו ברה זעורא כל מדמ דמטיהי ואזל לאתרא רחיקא ותמנ בדר קנינה כד חיא פרחאית |
| [14]Now when he had spent all, there arose a great dearth throughout that land, and he began to be in necessity. |
[14]וכד גמר כל מדמ דאית הוא לה הוא כפנא רבא באתרא הו ושׁרי חסר לה |
| [15]Then he went and clave to a citizen of that country, and he sent him to his farm, to feed swine. |
[15]ואזל נקפ לה לחד מנ בני מדינתא דאתרא הו והו שׁדרה לקריתא למרעא חזירא |
| [16]And he would feign have filled his belly with the husks that the swine ate: but no man gave them him. |
[16]ומתרגרג הוא לממלא כרסה מנ חרובא הנונ דאכלינ הוו חזירא ולא אנשׁ יהב הוא לה |
| [17]Then he came to himself, and said, How many hired servants at my father's have bread enough, and I die for hunger? |
[17]וכד אתא לות נפשׁה אמר כמא השׁא אגירא אית בית אבי דיתיר להונ לחמא ואנא הרכא לכפני אבד אנא |
| [18]I will rise and go to my father, and say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, |
[18]אקומ אזל לות אבי ואמר לה אבי חטית בשׁמיא וקדמיכ |
| [19]And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. |
[19]ולא מכיל שׁוא אנא דברכ אתקרא עבדיני איכ חד מנ אגיריכ |
| [20]So he arose and came to his father, and when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck, and kissed him. |
[20]וקמ אתא לות אבוהי ועד הו רחיק חזיהי אבוהי ואתרחמ עלוהי ורהט נפל על צורה ונשׁקה |
| [21]And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. |
[21]ואמר לה ברה אבי חטית בשׁמיא וקדמיכ ולא שׁוא אנא דברכ אתקרא |
| [22]Then the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet, |
[22]אמר דינ אבוהי לעבדוהי אפקו אסטלא רשׁיתא אלבשׁוהי וסימו עזקתא באידה ואסאנוהי מסנא |
| [23]And bring the fat calf, and kill him, and let us eat, and be merry. |
[23]ואיתו קטולו תורא דפטמא ונאכול ונתבסמ |
| [24]For this my son was dead, and is alive again: and he was lost, but he is found. And they began to be merry. |
[24]דהנא ברי מיתא הוא וחיא ואבידא הוא ואשׁתכח ושׁריו למתבסמו |
| [25]Now the Elder brother was in the field, and when he came and drew near to the house, he heard melody, and dancing, |
[25]הו דינ ברה קשׁישׁא בקריתא הוא וכד אתא וקרב לות ביתא שׁמע קל זמרא דסגיאא |
| [26]And called one of his servants, and asked what those things meant. |
[26]וקרא לחד מנ טליא ושׁאלה מנו הנא |
| [27]And he said unto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. |
[27]אמר לה אחוכ אתא וקטל אבוכ תורא דפטמא דכד חלימ אקבלה |
| [28]Then he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out and entreated him. |
[28]ורגז ולא צבא הוא למעל ונפק אבוהי בעא מנה |
| [29]But he answered and said to his father, Lo these many years have I done thee service, neither break I at any time thy commandment, and yet thou never gavest me a kid that I might make merry with my friends. |
[29]הו דינ אמר לאבוהי הא כמא שׁנינ פלח אנא לכ עבדותא ולא ממתומ עברת פוקדנכ ומנ מתומ גדיא לא יהבת לי דאתבסמ עמ רחמי |
| [30]But when this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy goods with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calf. |
[30]להנא דינ ברכ כד פרח קנינכ עמ זניתא ואתא נכסת לה תורא דפטמא |
| [31]And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have, is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again: and he was lost, but he is found. |
[31]אמר לה אבוהי ברי אנת בכלזבנ עמי אנת וכלמדמ דילי דילכ הו |

[32]למבסמ דינ ולא הוא לנ ולמחדא דהנא אחוכ מיתא הוא וחיא ואבידא הוא ואשׁתכח |
