| [1]וכד שׁלמ מלא כלהינ למשׁמעתה דעמא על ישׁוע לכפרנחומ |
[1]When he had ended all his sayinges, in the audience of the people, he entred into Capernaum |
| [2]עבדה דינ דקנטרונא חד עביד הוא בישׁאית אינא דיקיר הוא עלוהי וקריב הוא לממת |
[2]And a certayne Centurions seruaunt, which was deare vnto hym, lay sicke, and was in peryll of death |
| [3]ושׁמע על ישׁוע ושׁדר לותה קשׁישׁא דיהודיא ובעא הוא מנה איכ דנאתא נחא לעבדה |
[3]And when he hearde of Iesus, he sent vnto hym the elders of the Iewes, besechyng hym that he woulde come, and heale his seruaunt |
| [4]הנונ דינ כד אתו לות ישׁוע בעינ הוו מנה בטילאית ואמרינ שׁוא הו דתעבד לה הדא |
[4]And when they came to Iesus, they besought hym instantly, saying he is worthy that thou shouldest do this for hym |
| [5]רחמ גיר לעמנ ואפ בית כנושׁתא הו בנא לנ |
[5]For he loueth our nation, and hath built vs a synagogue |
| [6]ישׁוע דינ אזל הוא עמהונ כד דינ לא סגי רחיק מנ ביתא שׁדר לותה קנטרונא רחמוהי ואמר לה מרי לא תעמל לא גיר שׁוא אנא דתעול תחית מטללי |
[6]Then Iesus went with them. And when he was nowe not farre from the house, the Centurion sent friendes to hym, saying vnto hym: Lorde, trouble not thy selfe, for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter vnder my roofe |
| [7]מטל הו אנא לא שׁוית דלותכ אתא אלא אמר במלתא ונתאסא טליי |
[7]Wherefore I thought not my selfe worthy to come vnto thee: but say thou the worde, & my seruaunt shalbe whole |
| [8]אפ אנא גיר גברא אנא דמשׁעבד אנא תחית שׁולטנא ואית תחית אידי אסטרטיוטא ואמר אנא להנא דזל ואזל ולאחרנא דתא ואתא ולעבדי דעבד הדא ועבד |
[8]For I also am a man, set vnder power, and haue vnder me souldiers: and I say vnto one go, and he goeth: and to another, come, and he commeth: and to my seruaunt, do this, and he doth it |
| [9]כד שׁמע דינ ישׁוע הלינ אתדמר בה ואתפני ואמר לכנשׁא דאתא בתרה אמר אנא לכונ דאפ לא בית יסריל אשׁכחת איכ הדא הימנותא |
[9]When Iesus hearde these thynges, he marueyled at hym, and turned hym about, and sayde to the people that folowed hym: I say vnto you, I haue not founde so great fayth, no, not in Israel |
| [10]והפכו הנונ דאשׁתדר לביתא ואשׁכחו לעבדא הו דכריה הוא כד חלימ |
[10]And they that were sent, turned backe home agayne, and founde the seruaunt whole, that had ben sicke |
| [11]והוא ליומא דבתרה אזל הוא למדינתא דשׁמה נאינ ותלמידוהי עמה וכנשׁא סגיאא |
[11]And it came to passe the [day] after, that he went into a citie, which is called Naim: and many of his disciples went with hym, and much people |
| [12]וכד קרב לתרעא דמדינתא חזא כד מלוינ מיתא דיחידיא הוא לאמה והי אמה ארמלתא הות וכנשׁא סגיאא דבני מדינתא עמה |
[12]When he came nye to the gate of the citie, beholde, there was a dead man caryed out, [which was] the only sonne of his mother, and she was a widdowe: And much people of the citie was with her |
| [13]חזה דינ ישׁוע ואתרחמ עליה ואמר לה לא תבכינ |
[13]And when the Lorde sawe her, he had compassion on her, and sayde vnto her: Weepe not |
| [14]ואזל קרב לערסא והנונ דשׁקילינ הוו לה קמו ואמר עלימא לכ אמר אנא קומ |
[14]And he came nye, & touched the beere, (and they that bare hym stoode styll) And he sayde: Young man, I say vnto thee, aryse |
| [15]ויתב הו מיתא ושׁרי לממללו ויהבה לאמה |
[15]And he that was dead, sate vp, and began to speake: And he delyuered hym to his mother |
| [16]ואחדת דחלתא לאנשׁא כלהונ ומשׁבחינ הוו לאלהא ואמרינ דנביא רבא קמ בנ וסער אלהא לעמה |
[16]And there came a feare on them all, & they gaue the glory vnto God, saying: A great prophete is risen vp among vs, and veryly God hath visited his people |
| [17]ונפקת עלוהי מלתא הדא בכלה יהוד ובכלה אתרא דחדריהונ |
[17]And this rumour of hym went foorth throughout all Iurie, & throughout all the regions which lye rounde about |
| [18]ואשׁתעיו ליוחננ תלמידוהי הלינ כלהינ |
[18]And the disciples of Iohn, shewed hym of all these thynges |
| [19]וקרא יוחננ לתרינ מנ תלמידוהי ושׁדר אנונ לות ישׁוע ואמר אנת הו הו דאתא או לאחרינ הו מסכינ חננ |
[19]And Iohn called vnto hym two of his disciples, and sent them to Iesus, saying: Art thou he that shoulde come, or shall we loke for another |
| [20]ואתו לות ישׁוע ואמרינ לה יוחננ מעמדנא שׁדרנ לותכ ואמר אנת הו הו דאתא או לאחרינ הו מסכינ חננ |
[20]When the men were come vnto hym, they sayde, Iohn Baptiste sent vs vnto thee, saying: Art thou he that shoulde come, or shall we loke for another |
| [21]בה דינ בהי שׁעתא סגיאא אסי מנ כורהנא ומנ מחותא ומנ רוחא בישׁתא ולסגיאא סמיא יהב הוא למחזא |
[21]And in that same houre, he cured manye of their infirmities & plagues, and of euyll spirites, and vnto many that were blynde, he gaue sight |
| [22]וענא ישׁוע ואמר להונ זלו אמרו ליוחננ כל מדמ דחזיתונ ושׁמעתונ דסמיא חזינ וחגירא מהלכינ וגרבא מתדכינ וחרשׁא שׁמעינ ומיתא קימינ ומסכנא מסתברינ |
[22]Then Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto them: Go your way, and bryng worde agayne to Iohn, what thynges ye haue seene and hearde, howe that the blynde see, the halt go, the lepers are clensed, the deafe heare, the dead ryse agayne, to the poore is the Gospell preached |
| [23]וטובוהי למנ דלא נתכשׁל בי |
[23]And happy is he, that is not offended at me |
| [24]כד דינ אזלו תלמידוהי דיוחננ שׁרי ישׁוע למאמר לכנשׁא על יוחננ מנא נפקתונ לחורבא למחזא קניא דמנ רוחא מתתזיע |
[24]And when the messengers of Iohn were departed, he began to speake vnto the people concernyng Iohn: What went ye out into the wildernesse for to see? a reede shaken with the wynde |
| [25]ואנ לא מנא נפקתונ למחזא גברא דנחתא רכיכא לבישׁ הא אילינ דבלבושׁא משׁבחא ובפונקא איתיהונ בית מלכא אנונ |
[25]But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft rayment? Beholde, they which are gorgeously appareled, & lyue delicately, are in kynges courtes |
| [26]ואנ לא מנא נפקתונ למחזא נביא אינ אמר אנא לכונ ויתיר מנ נביא |
[26]But what went ye foorth to see? A prophete? Yea, I say to you, and more then a prophete |
| [27]הנו דעלוהי כתיב דהא אנא משׁדר אנא מלאכי קדמ פרצופכ דנתקנ אורחא קדמיכ |
[27]This is he, of whom it is written: Beholde, I sende my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee |
| [28]אמר אנא לכונ דלית נביא בילידי נשׁא דרב מנ יוחננ מעמדנא זעורא דינ במלכותא דאלהא רב הו מנה |
[28]For I say vnto you, among womens chyldren, is there not a greater prophete then Iohn Baptist. Neuerthesse, he that is lesse in the kyngdome of God, is greater then he |
| [29]וכלה עמא דשׁמעו אפ מכסא זדקו לאלהא דעמדו מעמודיתה דיוחננ |
[29]And all the people, and the publicanes that hearde hym, iustified God, and were baptized with the baptisme of Iohn |
| [30]פרישׁא דינ וספרא טלמו בנפשׁהונ צבינא דאלהא דלא אתעמדו מנה |
[30]But the pharisees and lawyers despised the councel of God, agaynst them selues, and were not baptized of hym |
| [31]למנ הכיל אדמא לאנשׁא דשׁרבתא הדא ולמנ דמינ |
[31]And the Lorde sayde: Whervnto shall I lyken the men of this generation? and what [thyng] are they lyke |
| [32]דמינ לטליא דיתבינ בשׁוקא וקעינ לחבריהונ ואמרינ זמרנ לכונ ולא רקדתונ ואלינ לכונ ולא בכיתונ |
[32]They are lyke vnto chyldren, sittyng in the market place, and crying one to another, and saying: We haue pyped vnto you, and ye haue not daunsed: We haue mourned to you, and ye haue not wept |
| [33]אתא גיר יוחננ מעמדנא לא אכל לחמא ולא שׁתא חמרא ואמרינ אנתונ שׁאדא אית בה |
[33]For Iohn Baptist came, neither eatyng bread nor drynkyng wyne, and ye say he hath the deuyll |
| [34]אתא ברה דאנשׁא אכל ושׁתא ואמרינ אנתונ הא גברא אכולא ושׁתא חמרא ורחמא דמכסא ודחטיא |
[34]The sonne of man is come, and eateth and drynketh, and ye saye, beholde a gluttonous man, and an [vnmeasurable] drynker of wyne, a frende of publicanes and sinners |
| [35]ואזדדקת חכמתא מנ כלהונ בניה |
[35]And wisdome is iustified of all her chyldren |
| [36]אתא דינ בעא מנה חד מנ פרישׁא דנלעס עמה ועל לביתה דפרישׁא הו אסתמכ |
[36]And one of the pharisees desired hym, that he woulde eate with hym. And he went into the pharisees house, and sate downe to meate |
| [37]ואנתתא חטיתא אית הות במדינתא הי וכד ידעת דבביתה דפרישׁא הו סמיכ נסבת שׁטיפתא דבסמא |
[37]And beholde, a woman in that citie, which was a sinner, assoone as she knewe that Iesus sate at meate in the pharisees house, she brought an alabaster boxe of oyntment |
| [38]וקמת בסתרה לות רגלוהי ובכיא הות ושׁרית בדמעיה מצבעא רגלוהי ובסערא דרשׁה משׁויא להינ ומנשׁקא הות רגלוהי ומשׁחא בסמא |
[38]And stoode at his feete behynde hym, weepyng, and began to washe his feete with teares, & dyd wype them with the heeres of her head, and kyssed his feete, and anoynted them with the oyntment |
| [39]כד חזא דינ פרישׁא הו דקריהי אתחשׁב בנפשׁה ואמר הנא אלו נביא הוא ידע הוא מנ הי ומא טבה דחטיתא הי אנתתא הי דקרבת לה |
[39]When the pharisee which had bydden hym, sawe, he spake within hym selfe, saying: If this man were a prophete, he woulde surely knowe who, & what maner of woman this is, that touched hym, for she is a sinner |
| [40]ענא דינ ישׁוע ואמר לה שׁמעונ מדמ אית לי דאמר לכ הו דינ אמר לה אמר רבי אמר לה ישׁוע |
[40]And Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto hym: Simon, I haue somewhat to say vnto thee. And he sayde: Maister, say on |
| [41]תרינ חיבא אית הוו לחד מרא חובא חד חיב הוא לה דינרא חמשׁמאא ואחרנא דינרא חמשׁינ |
[41]There was a certayne lender, which had two detters: The one ought fyue hundred pence, and the other fyftie |
| [42]ודלית הוא להונ למפרע לתריהונ שׁבק אינא הכיל מנהונ יתיר נחביוהי |
[42]When they had nothyng to pay, he forgaue them both. Tell me therefore, which of them wyll loue hym most |
| [43]ענא שׁמעונ ואמר סבר אנא דהו דאשׁתבק לה סגי אמר לה ישׁוע תריצאית דנת |
[43]Simon aunswered and sayde: I suppose, that he to whom he forgaue most. And he sayde vnto hym: Thou haste truely iudged |
| [44]ואתפני לות הי אנתתא ואמר לשׁמעונ חזא אנת אנתתא הדא לביתכ עלת מיא לרגלי לא יהבת הדא דינ בדמעיה רגלי צבעת ובסערה שׁוית אנינ |
[44]And he turned to the woman, & sayde vnto Simon: Seest thou this woman? I entred into thyne house, thou gauest me no water for my feete, but she hath wasshed my feete with teares, & wyped them with the heeres of her head |
| [45]אנת לא נשׁקתני הדא דינ הא מנ דעלת לא שׁלית רגלי למנשׁקו |
[45]Thou gauest me no kysse: but she, sence the tyme I came in, hath not ceassed to kysse my feete |
| [46]אנת משׁחא לרשׁי לא משׁחת הדא דינ במשׁחא דבסמא רגלי משׁחת |
[46]Myne head with oyle thou dyddest not anoynt: but she hath anoynted my feete with oyntment |
| [47]חלפ הדא אמר אנא לכ דשׁביקינ לה חטהיה סגיאא מטל דאחבת סגי הו דינ דקליל משׁתבק לה קליל מחב |
[47]Wherfore I say vnto thee, many sinnes are forgeuen her: for she loued much. To whom lesse is forgeuen, the same doth lesse loue |
| [48]ואמר להי אנתתא שׁביקינ לכי חטהיכי |
[48]And he sayde vnto her: thy sinnes are forgeuen thee |
| [49]שׁריו דינ הנונ דסמיכינ אמרינ בנפשׁהונ מנו הנא דאפ חטהא שׁבק |
[49]And they that sate at meate with hym, began to say within them selues, Who is this that forgeueth sinnes also |
| [50]ישׁוע דינ אמר להי אנתתא הימנותכי אחיתכי זלי בשׁלמא |
[50]And he sayde to the woman: Thy fayth hath saued thee, go in peace |
