| [1]Ἦν δὲ τὸ πάσχα καὶ τὰ ἄζυμα μετὰ δύο ἡμέρας· καὶ ἐζήτουν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς πῶς αὐτὸν ἐν δόλῳ κρατήσαντες ἀποκτείνωσιν· |
[1]And two days after followed the feast of the Passover, and of unleavened bread: and the high Priests, and Scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. |
| [2]ἔλεγον δέ, Μὴ ἐν τῇ ἑορτῇ, μήποτε θόρυβος ἔσται τοῦ λαοῦ. |
[2]But they said, Not in the feast day, lest there be any tumult among the people. |
| [3]Καὶ ὄντος αὐτοῦ ἐν Βηθανίᾳ, ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ Σίμωνος τοῦ λεπροῦ, κατακειμένου αὐτοῦ, ἦλθε γυνὴ ἔχουσα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου νάρδου πιστικῆς πολυτελοῦς· καὶ συντρίψασα τὸ ἀλάβαστρον, κατέχεεν αὐτοῦ κατὰ τῆς κεφαλῆς. |
[3]And when he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having a box of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and she break the box, and poured it on his head. |
| [4]ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ἑαυτούς, καὶ λέγοντες, Εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν; |
[4]Therefore some disdained among themselves, and said, To what end is this waste of ointment? |
| [5]ἠδύνατο γὰρ τοῦτο πραθῆναι ἐπάνω τριακοσίων δηναρίων, καὶ δοθῆναι τοῖς πτωχοῖς. καὶ ἐνεβριμῶντο αὐτῇ. |
[5]For it might have been sold for more then three hundred pence, and been given unto the poor, and they grudged against her. |
| [6]ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, Ἄφετε αὐτήν· τί αὐτῇ κόπους παρέχετε; καλὸν ἔργον εἰργάσατο εἰς ἐμέ. |
[6]But Jesus said, Let her alone: why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. |
| [7]πάντοτε γὰρ τοὺς πτωχοὺς ἔχετε μεθ’ ἑαυτῶν, καὶ ὅταν θέλητε δύνασθε αὐτοὺς εὖ ποιῆσαι· ἐμὲ δὲ οὐ πάντοτε ἔχετε. |
[7]For ye have the poor with you always, and when ye will ye may do them good, but me ye shall not have always. |
| [8]ὃ εἶχεν αὕτη ἐποίησε· προέλαβε μυρίσαι μου τὸ σῶμά εἰς τὸν ἐνταφιασμόν. |
[8]She hath done that she could: she came afore hand to anoint my body to the burying. |
| [9]ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅπου ἂν κηρυχθῇ τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦτο εἰς ὅλον τὸν κόσμον, καὶ ὃ ἐποίησεν αὕτη λαληθήσεται εἰς μνημόσυνον αὐτῆς. |
[9]Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done, shall be spoken of in remembrance of her. |
| [10]Καὶ ὁ Ἰούδας ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης, εἷς τῶν δώδεκα, ἀπῆλθε πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς, ἵνα παραδῷ αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς. |
[10]Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve went away unto the high Priests, to betray him unto them. |
| [11]οἱ δὲ ἀκούσαντες ἐχάρησαν, καὶ ἐπηγγείλαντο αὐτῷ ἀργύριον δοῦναι· καὶ ἐζήτει πῶς εὐκαίρως αὐτὸν παραδῷ. |
[11]And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised that they would give him money: therefore he sought how he might conveniently betray him. |
| [12]Καὶ τῇ πρώτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν ἀζύμων, ὅτε τὸ πάσχα ἔθυον, λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, Ποῦ θέλεις ἀπελθόντες ἑτοιμάσωμεν ἵνα φάγῃς τὸ πάσχα; |
[12]Now the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the Passover? |
| [13]καὶ ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν πόλιν, καὶ ἀπαντήσει ὑμῖν ἄνθρωπος κεράμιον ὕδατος βαστάζων· ἀκολουθήσατε αὐτῷ, |
[13]Then he sent forth two of his disciples, and said unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall a man meet you bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. |
| [14]καὶ ὅπου ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃ, εἴπατε τῷ οἰκοδεσπότῃ, ὅτι Ὁ διδάσκαλος λέγει, Ποῦ ἐστι τὸ κατάλυμά, ὅπου τὸ πάσχα μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν μου φάγω; |
[14]And whithersoever he goeth in, say ye to the good man of the house, The Master saith, Where is the lodging where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples? |
| [15]καὶ αὐτὸς ὑμῖν δείξει ἀνώγεον μέγα ἐστρωμένον ἕτοιμον· ἐκεῖ ἑτοιμάσατε ἡμῖν. |
[15]And he will show you an upper chamber which is large, trimmed and prepared: there make it ready for us. |
| [16]καὶ ἐξῆλθον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθον εἰς τὴν πόλιν, καὶ εὗρον καθὼς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἡτοίμασαν τὸ πάσχα. |
[16]So his disciples went forth, and came to the city, and found as he had said unto them, and made ready the Passover. |
| [17]Καὶ ὀψίας γενομένης ἔρχεται μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα. |
[17]And at even he came with the twelve. |
| [18]καὶ ἀνακειμένων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσθιόντων, εἶπεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς, Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὅτι εἷς ἐξ ὑμῶν παραδώσει με, ὁ ἐσθίων μετ’ ἐμοῦ. |
[18]And as they sat at table and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me, which eateth with me. |
| [19]οἱ δὲ ἤρξαντο λυπεῖσθαι, καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ εἷς καθ’ εἷς, Μή τι ἐγώ; καὶ ἄλλος, Μή τι ἐγώ; |
[19]Then they began to be sorrowful and to say to him one by one, Is it I? And another, Is it I? |
| [20]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Εἷς ἐκ τῶν δώδεκα, ὁ ἐμβαπτόμενος μετ’ ἐμοῦ εἰς τὸ τρύβλιον. |
[20]And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the platter. |
| [21]ὁ μὲν υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὑπάγει, καθὼς γέγραπται περὶ αὐτοῦ· οὐαὶ δὲ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ δι’ οὗ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδίδοται· καλὸν ἦν αὐτῷ εἰ οὐκ ἐγεννήθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος. |
[21]Truly the Son of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Son of man is betrayed: it had been good for that man, if he had never been born. |
| [22]Καὶ ἐσθιόντων αὐτῶν, λαβὼν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἄρτον, εὐλογήσας ἔκλασε, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ εἶπε, Λάβετε, φάγετε· τοῦτό ἐστι τὸ σῶμά μου. |
[22]And as they did eat, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he break it and gave it to them, and said, Take, eat, this is my body. |
| [23]καὶ λαβὼν τὸ ποτήριον, εὐχαριστήσας ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς· καὶ ἔπιον ἐξ αὐτοῦ πάντες. |
[23]Also he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, gave it to them: and they all drank of it. |
| [24]καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Τοῦτό ἐστι τὸ αἷμά μου, τὸ τῆς καινῆς διαθήκης, τὸ περὶ πολλῶν ἐκχυνόμενον |
[24]And he said unto them, This is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many. |
| [25]ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ πίω ἐκ τοῦ γεννήματος τῆς ἀμπέλου, ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ὅταν αὐτὸ πίνω καινὸν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ Θεοῦ. |
[25]Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day, that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God. |
| [26]Καὶ ὑμνήσαντες ἐξῆλθον εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν ἐλαιῶν. |
[26]And when they had sung a Psalm, they went out to the Mount of Olives. |
| [27]Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Πάντες σκανδαλισθήσεσθε ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ταύτῃ· ὅτι γέγραπται, Πατάξω τὸν ποιμένα, καὶ διασκορπισθήσεται τὰ πρόβατα. |
[27]Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. |
| [28]ἀλλὰ μετὰ τὸ ἐγερθῆναί με, προάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν. |
[28]But after that I am risen, I will go into Galilee before you. |
| [29]ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἔφη αὐτῷ, Καὶ εἰ πάντες σκανδαλισθήσονται, ἀλλ’ οὐκ ἐγώ. |
[29]And Peter said unto him, Although all men should be offended, yet would not I. |
| [30]καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς, Ἀμὴν λέγω σοι, ὅτι σήμερον ἐν τῇ νυκτὶ ταύτῃ, πρὶν ἢ δὶς ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι, τρὶς ἀπαρνήσῃ με. |
[30]Then Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. |
| [31]ὁ δὲ ἐκ περισσοῦ ἔλεγε μᾶλλον, Ἐάν με δέῃ συναποθανεῖν σοι, οὐ μή σε ἀπαρνήσομαι. ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ πάντες ἔλεγον. |
[31]But he said more earnestly. If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee: likewise also said they all. |
| [32]Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς χωρίον οὗ τὸ ὄνομα Γεθσημανῆ· καὶ λέγει τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ, Καθίσατε ὧδε, ἕως προσεύξωμαι. |
[32]After they came into a place named Gethsemane: then he said to his disciples, Sit ye here, till I have prayed. |
| [33]καὶ παραλαμβάνει τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τὸν Ἰάκωβον καὶ Ἰωάννην μεθ’ ἑαυτοῦ, καὶ ἤρξατο ἐκθαμβεῖσθαι καὶ ἀδημονεῖν. |
[33]And he took with him Peter, and James, and John, and he began to be afraid, and in great heaviness, |
| [34]καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Περίλυπός ἐστιν ἡ ψυχή μου ἕως θανάτου· μείνατε ὧδε καὶ γρηγορεῖτε. |
[34]And said unto them, My soul is very heavy, even unto the death: tarry here and watch. |
| [35]καὶ προελθὼν μικρόν, ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ προσηύχετο ἵνα, εἰ δυνατόν ἐστι, παρέλθῃ ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἡ ὥρα. |
[35]So he went forward a little, and fell down on the ground, and prayed, that if it were possible, that hour might pass from him. |
| [36]καὶ ἔλεγεν, Ἀββᾶ, ὁ πατήρ, πάντα δυνατά σοι. παρένεγκε τὸ ποτήριον ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ τοῦτο· ἀλλ’ οὐ τί ἐγὼ θέλω, ἀλλὰ τί σύ. |
[36]And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee: take away this cup from me: nevertheless not that I will, but that thou wilt, be done. |
| [37]καὶ ἔρχεται, καὶ εὑρίσκει αὐτοὺς καθεύδοντας, καὶ λέγει τῷ Πέτρῳ, Σίμων, καθεύδεις; οὐκ ἴσχυσας μίαν ὥραν γρηγορῆσαι; |
[37]Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? |
| [38]γρηγορεῖτε καὶ προσεύχεσθε, ἵνα μὴ εἰσέλθητε εἰς πειρασμόν. τὸ μὲν πνεῦμα πρόθυμον, ἡ δὲ σὰρξ ἀσθενής. |
[38]Watch ye, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh is weak. |
| [39]καὶ πάλιν ἀπελθὼν προσηύξατο, τὸν αὐτὸν λόγον εἰπών. |
[39]And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words. |
| [40]καὶ ὑποστρέψας εὗρεν αὐτοὺς πάλιν καθεύδοντας· ἦσαν γὰρ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν βεβαρημένοι, καὶ οὐκ ᾔδεισαν τί αὐτῷ ἀποκριθῶσι. |
[40]And he returned, and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy: neither knew they what they should answer him. |
| [41]καὶ ἔρχεται τὸ τρίτον, καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, Καθεύδετε τὸ λοιπὸν καὶ ἀναπαύεσθε. ἀπέχει· ἦλθεν ἡ ὥρα· ἰδού, παραδίδοται ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τῶν ἁμαρτωλῶν. |
[41]And he came the third time, and said unto them, Sleep henceforth, and take your rest: it is enough: the hour is come: behold, the Son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners. |
| [42]ἐγείρεσθε, ἄγωμεν· ἰδού, ὁ παραδιδούς με ἤγγικε. |
[42]Rise up: let us go: lo, he that betrayeth me, is at hand. |
| [43]Καὶ εὐθέως, ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος, παραγίνεται Ἰούδας, εἷς ὢν τῶν δώδεκα, καὶ μετ’ αὐτοῦ ὄχλος πολὺς μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων, παρὰ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ τῶν γραμματέων καὶ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων. |
[43]And immediately while he yet spake, came Judas that was one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves from the high Priests, and Scribes and Elders. |
| [44]δεδώκει δὲ ὁ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν σύσσημον αὐτοῖς, λέγων, Ὃν ἂν φιλήσω, αὐτός ἐστι· κρατήσατε αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπαγάγετε ἀσφαλῶς. |
[44]And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is: take him and lead him away safely. |
| [45]καὶ ἐλθών, εὐθέως προσελθὼν αὐτῷ λέγει, Ῥαββί, ῥαββί· καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν. |
[45]And as soon as he was come, he went straightway to him, and said, Master, Master, and kissed him. |
| [46]οἱ δὲ ἐπέβαλον ἐπ’ αὐτὸν τὰς χεῖρας αὑτῶν, καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτόν. |
[46]Then they laid there hands on him, and took him. |
| [47]εἷς δέ τις τῶν παρεστηκότων σπασάμενος τὴν μάχαιραν ἔπαισε τὸν δοῦλον τοῦ ἀρχιερέως, καὶ ἀφεῖλεν αὐτοῦ τὸ ὠτίον. |
[47]And one of them that stood by, drew out a sword, and smote a servant of the high Priest, and cut off his ear. |
| [48]καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, Ὡς ἐπὶ λῃστὴν ἐξήλθετε μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων συλλαβεῖν με; |
[48]And Jesus answered and said to them, Ye be come out as unto a thief with swords and with staves, to take me. |
| [49]καθ’ ἡμέραν ἤμην πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ διδάσκων, καὶ οὐκ ἐκρατήσατέ με· ἀλλ’ ἵνα πληρωθῶσιν αἱ γραφαί. |
[49]I was daily with you teaching in the Temple, and ye took me not: but this is done that the Scriptures should be fulfilled. |
| [50]καὶ ἀφέντες αὐτὸν πάντες ἔφυγον. |
[50]Then they all forsook him, and fled. |
| [51]Καὶ εἰς τις νεανίσκος ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ, περιβεβλημένος σινδόνα ἐπὶ γυμνοῦ. καὶ κρατοῦσιν αὐτὸν οἱ νεανίσκοι· |
[51]And there followed him a certain young man, clothed in linen upon his bare body, and the young men caught him. |
| [52]ὁ δὲ καταλιπὼν τὴν σινδόνα γυμνὸς ἔφυγεν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν. |
[52]But he left his linen cloth, and fled from them naked. |
| [53]Καὶ ἀπήγαγον τὸν Ἰησοῦν πρὸς τὸν ἀρχιερέα· καὶ συνέρχονται αὐτῷ πάντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς. |
[53]So they led Jesus away to the high Priest, and to him came all the high Priests, and the Elders, and the Scribes. |
| [54]καὶ ὁ Πέτρος ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ ἕως ἔσω εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως· καὶ ἦν συγκαθήμενος μετὰ τῶν ὑπηρετῶν, καὶ θερμαινόμενος πρὸς τὸ φῶς. |
[54]And Peter followed him afar off, even into the hall of the high Priest, and sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. |
| [55]οἱ δὲ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ ὅλον τὸ συνέδριον ἐζήτουν κατὰ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ μαρτυρίαν, εἰς τὸ θανατῶσαι αὐτόν· καὶ οὐχ εὕρισκον. |
[55]And the high Priests, and all the Council sought for witness against Jesus, to put him to death, but found none. |
| [56]πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἴσαι αἱ μαρτυρίαι οὐκ ἦσαν. |
[56]For many bear false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. |
| [57]καί τινες ἀναστάντες ἐψευδομαρτύρουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ λέγοντες |
[57]Then there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, |
| [58]ὅτι Ἡμεῖς ἠκούσαμεν αὐτοῦ λέγοντος ὅτι Ἐγὼ καταλύσω τὸν ναὸν τοῦτον τὸν χειροποίητον, καὶ διὰ τριῶν ἡμερῶν ἄλλον ἀχειροποίητον οἰκοδομήσω |
[58]We heard him say, I will destroy this Temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another, made without hands. |
| [59]καὶ οὐδὲ οὕτως ἴση ἦν ἡ μαρτυρία αὐτῶν. |
[59]But their witness yet agreed not together. |
| [60]καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς εἰς τὸ μέσον ἐπηρώτησε τὸν Ἰησοῦν, λέγων, Οὐκ ἀποκρίνῃ οὐδέν; τί οὗτοί σου καταμαρτυροῦσιν; |
[60]Then the high Priest stood up among them, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is the matter that these bear witness against thee? |
| [61]ὁ δὲ ἐσιώπα, καὶ οὐδὲν ἀπεκρίνατο. πάλιν ὁ ἀρχιερεὺς ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν, καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ, Σὺ εἶ ὁ Χριστός, ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ εὐλογητοῦ; |
[61]But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high Priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou Christ the Son of the Blessed? |
| [62]ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν, Ἐγώ εἰμι. καὶ ὄψεσθε τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καθήμενον ἐκ δεξιῶν τῆς δυνάμεως, καὶ ἐρχόμενον μετὰ τῶν νεφελῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ. |
[62]And Jesus said, I am he, and ye shall see the Son of man sit at the right hand of the power of God, and come in the clouds of heaven. |
| [63]ὁ δὲ ἀρχιερεὺς διαῤῥήξας τοὺς χιτῶνας αὐτοῦ λέγει, Τί ἔτι χρείαν ἔχομεν μαρτύρων; |
[63]Then the high Priest rent his clothes and said, What have we any more need of witnesses? |
| [64]ἠκούσατε τῆς βλασφημίας· τί ὑμῖν φαίνεται; οἱ δὲ πάντες κατέκριναν αὐτὸν εἶναι ἔνοχον θανάτου. |
[64]Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death. |
| [65]καὶ ἤρξαντό τινες ἐμπτύειν αὐτῷ, καὶ περικαλύπτειν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ κολαφίζειν αὐτόν, καὶ λέγειν αὐτῷ, Προφήτευσον· καὶ οἱ ὑπηρέται ῥαπίσμασιν αὐτὸν ἔβαλλον. |
[65]And some began to spit at him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to say unto him, Prophesy. And the sergeants smote him with their rods. |
| [66]Καὶ ὄντος τοῦ Πέτρου ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ κάτω, ἔρχεται μία τῶν παιδισκῶν τοῦ ἀρχιερέως, |
[66]And as Peter was beneath in the hall, there came one of the maids of the high Priest. |
| [67]καὶ ἰδοῦσα τὸν Πέτρον θερμαινόμενον, ἐμβλέψασα αὐτῷ λέγει, Καὶ σὺ μετὰ τοῦ Ναζαρηνοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἦσθα. |
[67]And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked on him, and said, Thou wast also with Jesus of Nazareth. |
| [68]ὁ δὲ ἠρνήσατο, λέγων, Οὐκ οἶδα, οὐδὲ ἐπίσταμαι τί σὺ λέγεις. καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω εἰς τὸ προαύλιον· καὶ ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησε. |
[68]But he denied it, saying, I know him not, neither wot I what thou sayest. Then he went out into the porch, and the cock crew. |
| [69]καὶ ἡ παιδίσκη ἰδοῦσα αὐτὸν πάλιν ἤρξατο λέγειν τοῖς παρεστηκόσιν ὅτι Οὗτος ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐστίν. |
[69]Then a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them. |
| [70]ὁ δὲ πάλιν ἠρνεῖτο. καὶ μετὰ μικρὸν πάλιν οἱ παρεστῶτες ἔλεγον τῷ Πέτρῳ, Ἀληθῶς ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶ· καὶ γὰρ Γαλιλαῖος εἶ, καὶ ἡ λαλιά σου ὁμοιάζει. |
[70]But he denied it again: and anon after, they that stood by, said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art of Galilee, and thy speech is like. |
| [71]ὁ δὲ ἤρξατο ἀναθεματίζειν καὶ ὀμνύειν ὅτι Οὐκ οἶδα τὸν ἄνθρωπον τοῦτον ὃν λέγετε. |
[71]And he began to curse, and swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. |
| [72]καὶ ἐκ δευτέρου ἀλέκτωρ ἐφώνησε. καὶ ἀνεμνήσθη ὁ Πέτρος τοῦ ῥήματος οὖ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Πρὶν ἀλέκτορα φωνῆσαι δίς, ἀπαρνήσῃ με τρίς. καὶ ἐπιβαλὼν ἔκλαιε. |
[72]Then the second time the cock crew, and Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice, and waying that with himself, he wept. |
