[1]ην δε το πασχα και τα αζυμα μετα δυο ημερας και εζητουν οι αρχιερεις και οι γραμματεις πως-I αυτον εν δολω κρατησαντες αποκτεινωσιν [1]And two days after followed the feast of the Passover, and of unleavened bread: and the high Priests, and Scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
[2]ελεγον γαρ μη εν τη εορτη μηποτε εσται θορυβος του λαου [2]But they said, Not in the feast day, lest there be any tumult among the people.
[3]και οντος αυτου εν βηθανια εν τη οικια σιμωνος του λεπρου κατακειμενου αυτου ηλθεν γυνη εχουσα αλαβαστρον μυρου ναρδου πιστικης πολυτελους συντριψασα την αλαβαστρον κατεχεεν αυτου της κεφαλης [3]And when he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having a box of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and she break the box, and poured it on his head.
[4]ησαν δε τινες αγανακτουντες προς εαυτους εις τι η απωλεια αυτη του μυρου γεγονεν [4]Therefore some disdained among themselves, and said, To what end is this waste of ointment?
[5]ηδυνατο γαρ τουτο το μυρον πραθηναι επανω δηναριων τριακοσιων και δοθηναι τοις πτωχοις και ενεβριμωντο αυτη [5]For it might have been sold for more then three hundred pence, and been given unto the poor, and they grudged against her.
[6]ο δε ιησους ειπεν αφετε αυτην τι αυτη κοπους παρεχετε καλον εργον ηργασατο εν εμοι [6]But Jesus said, Let her alone: why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
[7]παντοτε γαρ τους πτωχους εχετε μεθ εαυτων και οταν θελητε δυνασθε αυτοις [παντοτε] ευ ποιησαι εμε δε ου παντοτε εχετε [7]For ye have the poor with you always, and when ye will ye may do them good, but me ye shall not have always.
[8]ο εσχεν εποιησεν προελαβεν μυρισαι το σωμα μου εις τον ενταφιασμον [8]She hath done that she could: she came afore hand to anoint my body to the burying.
[9]αμην δε λεγω υμιν οπου εαν κηρυχθη το ευαγγελιον εις ολον τον κοσμον και ο εποιησεν αυτη λαληθησεται εις μνημοσυνον αυτης [9]Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done, shall be spoken of in remembrance of her.
[10]και ιουδας ισκαριωθ ο εις των δωδεκα απηλθεν προς τους αρχιερεις ινα αυτον παραδοι αυτοις [10]Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve went away unto the high Priests, to betray him unto them.
[11]οι δε ακουσαντες εχαρησαν και επηγγειλαντο αυτω αργυριον δουναι και εζητει πως-I αυτον ευκαιρως παραδοι [11]And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised that they would give him money: therefore he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
[12]και τη πρωτη ημερα των αζυμων οτε το πασχα εθυον λεγουσιν αυτω οι μαθηται αυτου που θελεις απελθοντες ετοιμασωμεν ινα φαγης το πασχα ARAM [12]Now the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the Passover?
[13]και αποστελλει δυο των μαθητων αυτου και λεγει αυτοις υπαγετε εις την πολιν και απαντησει υμιν ανθρωπος κεραμιον υδατος βασταζων ακολουθησατε αυτω [13]Then he sent forth two of his disciples, and said unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall a man meet you bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
[14]και οπου εαν εισελθη ειπατε τω οικοδεσποτη οτι ο διδασκαλος λεγει που εστιν το καταλυμα μου οπου το πασχα μετα των μαθητων μου φαγω [14]And whithersoever he goeth in, say ye to the good man of the house, The Master saith, Where is the lodging where I shall eat the Passover with my disciples?
[15]και αυτος υμιν δειξει αναγαιον μεγα εστρωμενον ετοιμον και εκει ετοιμασατε ημιν [15]And he will show you an upper chamber which is large, trimmed and prepared: there make it ready for us.
[16]και εξηλθον οι μαθηται και ηλθον εις την πολιν και ευρον καθως ειπεν αυτοις και ητοιμασαν το πασχα ARAM [16]So his disciples went forth, and came to the city, and found as he had said unto them, and made ready the Passover.
[17]και οψιας γενομενης ερχεται μετα των δωδεκα [17]And at even he came with the twelve.
[18]και ανακειμενων αυτων και εσθιοντων ο ιησους ειπεν αμην λεγω υμιν οτι εις εξ υμων παραδωσει με ο εσθιων μετ εμου [18]And as they sat at table and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me, which eateth with me.
[19]ηρξαντο λυπεισθαι και λεγειν αυτω εις κατα εις μητι εγω [19]Then they began to be sorrowful and to say to him one by one, Is it I? And another, Is it I?
[20]ο δε ειπεν αυτοις εις των δωδεκα ο εμβαπτομενος μετ εμου εις το [εν] τρυβλιον [20]And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the platter.
[21]οτι ο μεν υιος του ανθρωπου υπαγει καθως γεγραπται περι αυτου ουαι δε τω ανθρωπω εκεινω δι ου ο υιος του ανθρωπου παραδιδοται καλον αυτω ει ουκ εγεννηθη ο ανθρωπος εκεινος [21]Truly the Son of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Son of man is betrayed: it had been good for that man, if he had never been born.
[22]και εσθιοντων αυτων λαβων αρτον ευλογησας εκλασεν και εδωκεν αυτοις και ειπεν λαβετε τουτο εστιν το σωμα μου [22]And as they did eat, Jesus took the bread, and when he had given thanks, he break it and gave it to them, and said, Take, eat, this is my body.
[23]και λαβων ποτηριον ευχαριστησας εδωκεν αυτοις και επιον εξ αυτου παντες [23]Also he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
[24]και ειπεν αυτοις τουτο εστιν το αιμα μου της διαθηκης το εκχυννομενον υπερ πολλων [24]And he said unto them, This is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many.
[25]αμην λεγω υμιν οτι ουκετι ου μη πιω εκ του γενηματος της αμπελου εως της ημερας εκεινης οταν αυτο πινω καινον εν τη βασιλεια του θεου [25]Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day, that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God.
[26]και υμνησαντες εξηλθον εις το ορος των ελαιων [26]And when they had sung a Psalm, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
[27]και λεγει αυτοις ο ιησους οτι παντες σκανδαλισθησεσθε οτι γεγραπται παταξω τον ποιμενα και τα προβατα διασκορπισθησονται [27]Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
[28]αλλα μετα το εγερθηναι με προαξω υμας εις την γαλιλαιαν [28]But after that I am risen, I will go into Galilee before you.
[29]ο δε πετρος εφη αυτω ει και παντες σκανδαλισθησονται αλλ ουκ εγω [29]And Peter said unto him, Although all men should be offended, yet would not I.
[30]και λεγει αυτω ο ιησους αμην λεγω σοι οτι συ σημερον ταυτη τη νυκτι πριν η δις αλεκτορα φωνησαι τρις με απαρνηση [30]Then Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
[31]ο δε εκπερισσως ελαλει εαν δεη με συναποθανειν σοι ου μη σε απαρνησομαι ωσαυτως [δε] δε και παντες ελεγον [31]But he said more earnestly. If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee: likewise also said they all.
[32]και ερχονται εις χωριον ου το ονομα γεθσημανι και λεγει τοις μαθηταις αυτου καθισατε ωδε εως προσευξωμαι [32]After they came into a place named Gethsemane: then he said to his disciples, Sit ye here, till I have prayed.
[33]και παραλαμβανει τον πετρον και τον [τον] ιακωβον και {VAR2: τον [τον]} ιωαννην μετ αυτου και ηρξατο εκθαμβεισθαι και αδημονειν [33]And he took with him Peter, and James, and John, and he began to be afraid, and in great heaviness,
[34]και λεγει αυτοις περιλυπος εστιν η ψυχη μου εως θανατου μεινατε ωδε και γρηγορειτε [34]And said unto them, My soul is very heavy, even unto the death: tarry here and watch.
[35]και προελθων μικρον επιπτεν επι της γης και προσηυχετο ινα ει δυνατον εστιν παρελθη απ αυτου η ωρα [35]So he went forward a little, and fell down on the ground, and prayed, that if it were possible, that hour might pass from him.
[36]και ελεγεν αββα ο πατηρ παντα δυνατα σοι παρενεγκε το ποτηριον τουτο απ εμου αλλ ου τι εγω θελω αλλα τι συ [36]And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee: take away this cup from me: nevertheless not that I will, but that thou wilt, be done.
[37]και ερχεται και ευρισκει αυτους καθευδοντας και λεγει τω πετρω σιμων καθευδεις ουκ ισχυσας μιαν ωραν γρηγορησαι [37]Then he came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
[38]γρηγορειτε και προσευχεσθε ινα μη ελθητε εις πειρασμον το μεν πνευμα προθυμον η δε σαρξ ασθενης [38]Watch ye, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh is weak.
[39]και παλιν απελθων προσηυξατο [τον αυτον λογον ειπων] τον αυτον λογον ειπων [39]And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
[40]και παλιν ελθων ευρεν αυτους καθευδοντας ησαν γαρ αυτων οι οφθαλμοι καταβαρυνομενοι και ουκ ηδεισαν τι αποκριθωσιν αυτω [40]And he returned, and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy: neither knew they what they should answer him.
[41]και ερχεται το τριτον και λεγει αυτοις καθευδετε [το] το λοιπον και αναπαυεσθε απεχει ηλθεν η ωρα ιδου παραδιδοται ο υιος του ανθρωπου εις τας χειρας των αμαρτωλων [41]And he came the third time, and said unto them, Sleep henceforth, and take your rest: it is enough: the hour is come: behold, the Son of man is delivered into the hands of sinners.
[42]εγειρεσθε αγωμεν ιδου ο παραδιδους με ηγγικεν [42]Rise up: let us go: lo, he that betrayeth me, is at hand.
[43]και ευθυς ετι αυτου λαλουντος παραγινεται [ο] ιουδας εις των δωδεκα και μετ αυτου οχλος μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων παρα των αρχιερεων και των γραμματεων και των πρεσβυτερων [43]And immediately while he yet spake, came Judas that was one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves from the high Priests, and Scribes and Elders.
[44]δεδωκει δε ο παραδιδους αυτον συσσημον αυτοις λεγων ον αν φιλησω αυτος εστιν κρατησατε αυτον και απαγετε ασφαλως [44]And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is: take him and lead him away safely.
[45]και ελθων ευθυς προσελθων αυτω λεγει ραββι και κατεφιλησεν αυτον [45]And as soon as he was come, he went straightway to him, and said, Master, Master, and kissed him.
[46]οι δε επεβαλον τας χειρας αυτω και εκρατησαν αυτον [46]Then they laid there hands on him, and took him.
[47]εις δε [τις] των παρεστηκοτων σπασαμενος την μαχαιραν επαισεν τον δουλον του αρχιερεως και αφειλεν αυτου το ωταριον [47]And one of them that stood by, drew out a sword, and smote a servant of the high Priest, and cut off his ear.
[48]και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν αυτοις ως επι ληστην εξηλθατε μετα μαχαιρων και ξυλων συλλαβειν με [48]And Jesus answered and said to them, Ye be come out as unto a thief with swords and with staves, to take me.
[49]καθ ημεραν ημην προς υμας εν τω ιερω διδασκων και ουκ εκρατησατε με αλλ ινα πληρωθωσιν αι γραφαι [49]I was daily with you teaching in the Temple, and ye took me not: but this is done that the Scriptures should be fulfilled.
[50]και αφεντες αυτον εφυγον παντες [50]Then they all forsook him, and fled.
[51]και νεανισκος τις συνηκολουθει αυτω περιβεβλημενος σινδονα επι γυμνου και κρατουσιν αυτον [51]And there followed him a certain young man, clothed in linen upon his bare body, and the young men caught him.
[52]ο δε καταλιπων την σινδονα γυμνος εφυγεν [52]But he left his linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
[53]και απηγαγον τον ιησουν προς τον αρχιερεα και συνερχονται παντες οι αρχιερεις και οι πρεσβυτεροι και οι γραμματεις [53]So they led Jesus away to the high Priest, and to him came all the high Priests, and the Elders, and the Scribes.
[54]και ο πετρος απο μακροθεν ηκολουθησεν αυτω εως εσω εις την αυλην του αρχιερεως και ην συγκαθημενος μετα των υπηρετων και θερμαινομενος προς το φως [54]And Peter followed him afar off, even into the hall of the high Priest, and sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
[55]οι δε αρχιερεις και ολον το συνεδριον εζητουν κατα του ιησου μαρτυριαν εις το θανατωσαι αυτον και ουχ ηυρισκον [55]And the high Priests, and all the Council sought for witness against Jesus, to put him to death, but found none.
[56]πολλοι γαρ εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου και ισαι αι μαρτυριαι ουκ ησαν [56]For many bear false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
[57]και τινες ανασταντες εψευδομαρτυρουν κατ αυτου λεγοντες [57]Then there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
[58]οτι ημεις ηκουσαμεν αυτου λεγοντος οτι εγω καταλυσω τον ναον τουτον τον χειροποιητον και δια τριων ημερων αλλον αχειροποιητον οικοδομησω [58]We heard him say, I will destroy this Temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another, made without hands.
[59]και ουδε ουτως ιση ην η μαρτυρια αυτων [59]But their witness yet agreed not together.
[60]και αναστας ο αρχιερευς εις μεσον επηρωτησεν τον ιησουν λεγων ουκ αποκρινη ουδεν τι ουτοι σου καταμαρτυρουσιν [60]Then the high Priest stood up among them, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is the matter that these bear witness against thee?
[61]ο δε εσιωπα και ουκ απεκρινατο ουδεν παλιν ο αρχιερευς επηρωτα αυτον και λεγει αυτω συ ει ο χριστος ο υιος του ευλογητου [61]But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high Priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou Christ the Son of the Blessed?
[62]ο δε ιησους ειπεν εγω ειμι και οψεσθε τον υιον του ανθρωπου εκ δεξιων καθημενον της δυναμεως και ερχομενον μετα των νεφελων του ουρανου [62]And Jesus said, I am he, and ye shall see the Son of man sit at the right hand of the power of God, and come in the clouds of heaven.
[63]ο δε αρχιερευς διαρρηξας τους χιτωνας αυτου λεγει τι ετι χρειαν εχομεν μαρτυρων [63]Then the high Priest rent his clothes and said, What have we any more need of witnesses?
[64]ηκουσατε της βλασφημιας τι υμιν φαινεται οι δε παντες κατεκριναν αυτον ενοχον ειναι θανατου [64]Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death.
[65]και ηρξαντο τινες εμπτυειν αυτω και περικαλυπτειν αυτου το προσωπον και κολαφιζειν αυτον και λεγειν αυτω προφητευσον και οι υπηρεται ραπισμασιν αυτον ελαβον [65]And some began to spit at him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to say unto him, Prophesy. And the sergeants smote him with their rods.
[66]και οντος του πετρου κατω εν τη αυλη ερχεται μια των παιδισκων του αρχιερεως [66]And as Peter was beneath in the hall, there came one of the maids of the high Priest.
[67]και ιδουσα τον πετρον θερμαινομενον εμβλεψασα αυτω λεγει και συ μετα του ναζαρηνου ησθα του ιησου [67]And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked on him, and said, Thou wast also with Jesus of Nazareth.
[68]ο δε ηρνησατο λεγων ουτε οιδα ουτε επισταμαι συ τι λεγεις και εξηλθεν εξω εις το προαυλιον [και αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν] [68]But he denied it, saying, I know him not, neither wot I what thou sayest. Then he went out into the porch, and the cock crew.
[69]και η παιδισκη ιδουσα αυτον ηρξατο παλιν λεγειν τοις παρεστωσιν οτι ουτος εξ αυτων εστιν [69]Then a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
[70]ο δε παλιν ηρνειτο και μετα μικρον παλιν οι παρεστωτες ελεγον τω πετρω αληθως εξ αυτων ει και γαρ γαλιλαιος ει [70]But he denied it again: and anon after, they that stood by, said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art of Galilee, and thy speech is like.
[71]ο δε ηρξατο αναθεματιζειν και ομνυναι οτι ουκ οιδα τον ανθρωπον τουτον ον λεγετε [71]And he began to curse, and swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
[72]και ευθυς εκ δευτερου αλεκτωρ εφωνησεν και ανεμνησθη ο πετρος το ρημα ως ειπεν αυτω ο ιησους οτι πριν αλεκτορα δις φωνησαι φωνησαι δις τρις με απαρνηση και επιβαλων εκλαιεν [72]Then the second time the cock crew, and Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice, and waying that with himself, he wept.
